Kedarkantha Winter Trek(with Snowfall and Snowstorm)
Hi Friends, I am right now at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport Kolkata Today i feel very exciting because almost after 1 year, i am going for a long trip and I am going Solo I am going for Kadarkantha Trek For going to this Kadarkantha Trek, the route i am taking let's see quickly At first, I am going Kolkata to Delhi taking direct flight and then Delhi to Dehradun i will go by Train and i will stay one night there After that, i will go to Sankri (Kedarkantha Trek Starts here) from Dehradun by car , distance 187 km approx. There are different organizations in India organize this Trek i have selected The Camp360 for this trek, if you go to their website, you will find different trek options are available with all the details Last time i came to Kolkata Airport when i was going to Thailand at August, 2019 That time, i went through international departure in my back In fact after almost 1.5 years i came to this Airport In between i have visited Bhutan that was by Train Lot of things are changed due to Covid-19 Most of the things are digital now It is presently not like before, the check-in process also become very smooth and fast My flight is at 9:55 PM from Gate 104, right now its 8:30 PM I have to go ground floor, just spending some time here. My flight is SpiceJet SG-264 I am inside the flight now, i will take 2 Hours 20 Mins from Kolkata to Delhi I know i am getting unrecognizable now with this Face Shield, i feel suffocated Good thing is the flight is absolutely Clean and Safe, the Air Hostesses are with PPE Kit All the seats are very clean so that no virus spread out and as usual i got my favorite window sit Right now i am flying at 36000 ft above sea level and the funny incident is Look at my adjacent 2 seats, its empty!!!! My economy class ticket becomes Business Class Everybody welcome to Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi Terminal-3 Its 3 AM now, from here i will use Metro service to reach New Delhi Railway station Metro Service Starts from 4:45 AM, First Metro at 4:50 AM from Terminal-3 I am waiting for that, you will reach the Metro Station just outside from this Airport Exit Gate This is C8 Coach, Shatabdi Express, my train towards Dehradun from New Delhi Its 9:35 AM now almost and i am about to reach Roorkee Junction, the first stop in Uttarakhand state I am travelling in this Covid-19 situation in a Premium train Premium trains like Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Tejas used to serve foods with tickets But due to Corona, they are only sailing Packed foods like Cup Noodles, biscuits, chips etc. Till now the journey is quite comfortable and good We are just crossing Haridwar, i think every bengali visited this place once in life Almost more than half of the train empty now and we are heading towards Dehradun We will reach Dehradun in next 1:30 Hours And the route from Haridwar to Dehradun is so beautiful. Train line goes in between Forests and Hills We are passing through Rajaji National Park, i can see lots of Elephant Crossing Sign boards here The environment is Amazing, it reminds me Dooars in our West Bengal Do you know what happened to me after getting down to Station? We were in a queue and tested for Corona After the test, i am right now at Hotel Ashrey just close to the station It has a quite good double bedded room, attached bathroom, i have booked this from Booking.com around Rs. 1000
I cant even imagine that i have tested for the first time today The testing kit was inside my nose, it was very tough. Almost i was about to cry After the entry, i am into the hotel now for today and spend tonight For Kedarkantha Trek, today we will go to Dehradun to Sankri and from there our trek will starts Our 1st point will be Juda ka Talab which is 5-6 km from Sankri From Juda ka Talab, we will go to the Base Camp next day which is Approx. 2.5 to 3 km And after that we will go the Kedarkantha Summit from Base Camp in the morning which is approx. 4-5 km from Base Camp 7:15 AM: I am right now checking out from my hotel at Dehradun, our team is there at Railway Station already and we will start from there This is our traveler car by which we will travel, everybody is ready for loading their bags Few came from Hyderabad, Few from Chennai, one from Bihar The River right behind me, i think its Yamuna River right? Yes, this is Yamuna Coming from Yamunotri Yamunotri from here is 90 kms right? Yes Our road is exactly going beside Yamuna River Good thing is finally we have removed my Mask from my face and i am not going to wear mask for next 5 days After so many days i am taking fresh breathings which feels fantastic Hi Nikita!!! What was that? What i am suppose to say, i am not prepared (Laugh) There he is going to say Nikita was just saying that we will take bath with this water and our skin will become gorgeous Look, already my skin is shining so much You also come here, take a bath in Yamuna River We are all become gorgeous and fair now. (Laugh) Previously the stones are also black, Since they are in Yamuna River, they become white. (Laugh) Brother, how many daily tourists are travelling there? Is that near to 200-300? More More! So, i hope there should be in accommodation problem in tents? All different groups provides different camps In todays date, assume there are approx. 1000 travelers are going
1 Day 1000 !!!! How many from our Camp360 ? Your batch is of 31 Trekkers Today morning count your batch is 31, 1 was cancelled, so in total 30 We will meet the rest of the group in Sankri? Yes. Ok. Lets take you through the accommodation in Sankri , it's a Homestay and We are now filling up a consent form basically This is our room, that double bed is for them, single bed is mine We are filling up a consent form, its very scary actually (Laugh) While trekking, if we break any rules guided by Camp360, they will not be responsible for any of our lives One thing I felt good, what was his name who was giving the briefing to us? Shyam? Yes, he is from Bombay, he said one thing- "We are NOT tourist here, We are Trekkers" Hi Good Morning, today is Day 2, in fact from today onwards we will start our Kedarkantha Trek Its 7 AM now, temperature is almost in minus Temperature is -1 or -2 degrees like this here, freezing cold The place we are right now is so beautiful, we are watching the sunrise from here If you look at here, you can understand its a small beautiful mountain village named Sankri The place i was last night was a homestay but i can see right in front of me there are lots of tents where trekkers are staying here, they are playing music We will start towards Juda Lake after sometime after having our breakfast around 7:30-8 AM Juda Lake is 6 KM from here, that is our trek for today How are you feeling? Look there is Sunrise With me right now our trek guide Naresh Brother. He will give us briefing and demo right now Naresh brother is here since yesterday and continuously helping us a lot My shoulder is started paining now It's 2:30 PM almost now I can see our Campsite is filled up with Snow already Finally you have completed the trek Its not done yet, Still long way to go But you have completed the trek for today Oh Yes! Slowly Slowly we will complete Tomorrow will be the same distance? We will make it easily. He will not tell us, we will become afraid (Laugh) Yes (Laugh) How far is Juda Lake? It's only 200 meters from here First we will do take lunch at camp and then visit there Yes! Lets go today and take some pictures. With trekking bag, i am struggling to bring out my camera every time
We are here Rakesh Brother!! Finally we reached the campsite, you have put lot of efforts It's my pleasure! Here is our Juda ka Talab Camp and this is my tent Maximum 3 people can stay inside this tent Look at the background, its covered with snow already The sleeping bags are inside the tents, it's not right to expect too many facilities here Because it's a very remote place without electricity Behind me is the dining tent, in back there is kitchen tent So this is how we are trekking from morning I cannot even showing you my 20% of the trekking because it is really difficult to record videos while trekking Same for photography with my camera but still i am trying my best to showing you the trek This is how it is going the whole day At this moment, we are in the other side of Juda lake, previously we were at that snow covered side Look at the lake behind me it's frozen and i can see a view from this point which i have taken a shot in my camera, Let's take a look!! We are not even thinking about the temperature now We are just enjoying clicking pictures here Today we have completed almost 6 kms, that pain is completely gone after watching this I simply cannot explain you through a photo or video Good Morning! Right now we are just starting towards Kedarkantha Base Camp Right now our trek route is keep getting tough because of the hard snow here and we have to walk on top of it I should not shoot any video at this place specially in selfie mode because it's very slippery here But Still, Its windy also, everybody are coming, 2-3 from us are ahead of me, i am going there How was that? Tough right? This is how we are going. One wrong step and you are gone (Laugh) Rakesh brother come here once in camera Yesterday i was last, today i am first (Laugh) Your sunglasses are down, be careful ! Say something! Trek is going good, we are keep moving in good pace. Let's go! Finally we have reached our destination for today Kedarkantha base campsite right now is around 2 PM, from Juda ka Talab, we have trekked for 3:30 Hours today It was little difficult because of the snow and we were slipping while hiking We might face massive problems while going down In my background you can lot of tents are there of different organizations This is the Kedarkantha Peak where we will go for Summit These are our tents and from here we will start for the Kedarkantha Peak We will start tonight at 2 AM, we are so excited for that What will be the climate at that time, How we will proceed, that is going to be an different adventure I will try to record as much as possible Brother all fine?? All ok brother!! (Laugh) We will complete this if weather condition is good We are waiting a little bit right now, look at the snowfall, we will start soon Let's go Let's go, whatever happen we will see later Trek is going on in a heavy snowfall Common guys! keep moving keep moving We are experiencing a snow storm, we don't know where our guide is Rakesh(Guide): Wooowww! We have completed the summit, come brother! This feeling is unbelievable!!!! It was really dangerous! It was so much snow storm there we are returning now I cant take any pictures with my camera, can't even able to bring out my camera from bag because of storm Look at my covers are frozen with snow already Today i have not expected this anyway We are right now in a small tea point before the Base Camp Conditions are really bad here because of the snowfall and storm together we made it to Summit but It was very risky over there for us, that much of storm there It was so difficult , we couldn't stay more than 1 minute over there and returning back now Hey you! come say something you are freezing with cold Actually yes, little difficult. What difficult? (Laugh)
Difficult in sense, if you are not habituated to this cold then you might face trouble But, the scenery we are getting now, specially the snowfall, we never seen this before and don't know we will see this in future so let's enjoy this moment It's already 4-5 Hours continuous snowfall, i don't know how many feet snow are here right now that's why in every step, the whole pressure in my legs for walking in snow in fact before coming in this trek, lot of people told me - "Why you are going alone?", "Don't go" (Laugh) when they will see this video, they will understand why i am here we are close to the base camp now, we will do our lunch here, all our tents are gone due to heavy snowfall this is where we were yesterday, you simply can't recognize after heavy snowfall we are enjoying our Snow Rice now (Laugh) Papad tastes very nice with Snow (Laugh) Next morning: Well today is our last day of trek and we are in Juda ka Talab camp After this, we will return to Sankri today After watching the whole video, if you think Kedarkantha Trek is going to be easy, it's wrong Kedarkantha trek is really going to be difficult for the beginners May be after watching the beauty in this place, you think that Let's Go, we will make it and if i tell you my words, i have taken 2 months Hard Preparation for this trek First day, i thought i will beat everyone and go first But, next day i am gone (Laugh), i though it's ok Then i took medicines, Then i slept for 4 Hours, still i was not recovered Then i slept again in nights, next morning i was fit, slowly moved towards peak but couldn't make it It was storm there. Really???? Yes (Laugh) Then we slowly came down and take our tea, experience was good overall I got this experience in the age of 20. Next i will summit to direct Mt. Everest (Laugh) All the best (Laugh) you are from Ahmedabad right? If you are coming to this trek, please do proper workout before coming, do walking/running First thing, if you are coming here keep your diet as proper as you can and in case there is snowfall at your time, either you will enjoy a lot or else you will ****** up (Laugh) We have experienced both and enjoyed both Send my pictures. Of course!! At first, everyone was keep telling - "You are going there alone as a girl?" I was little nervous that time but after coming here i never felt unknown to anybody, all are very co-operative, friendly, helping each other You never feel that you are solo, my health was not good while coming but over there all have taken care of me You will never face any problem. You can definitely come solo and enjoy the trek While we were outside, it was started heavy snowfall and that storm!!!!! First time, i met fabulous travelers like you all Amazing Fantastic, this is almost my 10th Trek but i will remember this for my entire life There was 30 people in our camp from different states from India I have done it, in fact 4 from our camp were made it to the summit Lastly, my message to all my beloved Bengali viewers Most of the people thinks that 20 km trek will be difficult for us Do not listen to the so called advisors surround you, If you think you are capable to do it just have that believe in yourself So friends, that was our entire Kedarkantha Trek Hopefully the whole journey from Day 1 you have enjoyed the video Kindly let me know your feedback through comments Thank you very much for watching!
