secretary Ministry of civil aviation and tourism Mr MD mukamma Hussain the keynote presenter is airwise Marshall and mafidu Rahman honorable chairman civilization authority of Bangladesh cab we have our discussion chair honorable CEO Bangladesh tourism board Mr Avatar we have Regional officer flight safety IQ Asia Pacific Mr SM Nas mulanam he will be joining us through Zoom from Thailand we also have Mr shahrukha vikramadita Countryman is the Sri Lankan Airlines we have Mr Morgan D'Souza manager Dhaka Tata Saya Airlines Limited we have discussed and Mr Mama saiful Hawk countries and manager and CEO saver also we have here come out of Dr mahabub John Khan doctor of Business Administration director corporate planning and training Bangladesh bhiman so with the permission of the chair we like to start the seminar now thank you very much this is the second day of Bangladesh International tribal and tourism Expo bitt organized by our trap everybody you know that Bangladesh is now growing to accept the international tourists from different countries and we also have 15 countries participation in this Expo Bangladesh already have the connection with the southern part through the about the breeze and we have so many development work going on our International Airport is under construction at the caucus buzzer also the expansion of the third terminal at Dhaka airport so the connectivity we are talking about our government has undertaken these things so I'd like to request our honorable keynote presenter chairman cab here was to come on the stage and present his presentation to the audience foreign please give him a big love this is foreign foreign taking part through the gym and regional office the IQ can you hear me no yes sir okay thank you okay uh honorable respected the chair of the seminar honorable secretary to the ministry of civilization and tourism Mr makamil Hussain uh respected president atab a distinguished guest from home and abroad and stick with a different stakeholders participating in this seminar and those who are also participating from abroad through Zoom I welcome you all to the seminar and wish you very good morning it's indeed a great honor for me to be invited in this special uh Forum to present ah Prospect of Aviation and tourism connecting Bangladesh to the world I being the chairman of civilization Authority it is a really great honor for me to discuss on the very prominent subject which government has entrusted on me to lead this organization and carry out the function take this Aviation following the uh the act and rules specific act and rules and the ikl annexes requirements the IQ annexes and the best practices recommended practices followed for the aviation Industries I I must say that it's a very good initiative of the tab for taking this wonderful Initiative for arranging this uh exhibition uh in international exhibition and having some professional discussion on the aviation because the fact that Aviation was Aviation is by nature by due to its principle of flexibility rich and it's the height what is the military language we call it a H as a principle of a Firepower or the air power that capability has taken the advantage of Aviation Aviation is now can connect people it can correct distribute countries and it can connect anything which is required for administration operation humidity aspect starting from humanitar aspect to the business Community everything that Aviation is now taking care this Aviation was moving the very first space space and we have witnessed in 2018 the globally the the aviation requirement was so high Aviation is playing such a vital role in the sushi economy of the world but suddenly kovid has made some disturbance on the aviation activities especially and on the tourism and that is why I must say that I must congratulate a tab for taking a good initiative that this is the time that we have to already we have restarted our activities but to contribute to revive our tourism sector and other economic sector this is an this is an urgent need that we must work together and take the aviation industry tourism industry and ultimately contribute to the other Russia economic development of our country I at that said I would like to also thank our ministry for sponsoring all kind of activities which relates to Aviation and also uh tourism so with this short preload I would like to I have prepared couple of slides which will explain how the aviation connects the world and what is the contribution of Aviation to show it the start with that I'd like to show you a small video clip look I think there's some okay we'll start again because and sustainable future bringing the benefits of Aviation Within Reach of more people Air transport helps us receive the package we want the next day and the medicine we need right now it opens doors to exploration unlocking the mysteries of countless cultures and far-off destinations its supports our growing freedom to choose where we want to live within our Global Community cities and remote Villages alone and they connect us to those we cherish so that together we can share life's most important moments through collaborative action we are working to reduce aviation's environmental impact doing our participle to more sustainable future for everyone connecting us all to business opportunities places and people now and for the decades to come welcome on board anyway this this was it hello [Music] look is it clear now okay sorry uh is this technical issues interfacing was little difficult as the as you have seen the video clip was uh it was showing that how the aviation static from helping the people and sitting on the commit Community the passengers goals and also during the kovid it also transported medicine to the people so every aspect the caviation is there so Aviation creates job efficient careers opportunity that was the all about and we can see that Aviation contribution of the total GDP it is 3.6 percent is contributes to the total GDP whereas Bangladesh is still falling behind so these are the things that we'll have to take into consideration and use it regarding the job how much it creates a job for the people if we look at this there is a delay in the slide those who are directly contributing there are there are different kinds of decision some direct contribution to the economy in direct condition and direct communication uh contribution you can see this is the figure that we have seen around 2.3 percent those are involved in the air navigation airport operation on 5.1 percent engineering then internal employment Airlines so this is the figure that we can see uh that they are contributing to the um economy and also per 1000 passenger you can see that 5.2 uh thousand indirect jobs create then direct Industries per 12.9 almost 13 000 geography for one thousand percent traveling so these are the indication how it is contributing to the economy and ultimately the slide you can see that uh how much it is contributing to the GDP it is a standard pattern that it has it is explaining and especially if we look at our Asia Pacific you can see the number of flights passenger cargo jobs it is very high region is also Bangladesh falls into Asia Pacific area region here we have the more Prospect for creating jobs through this Aviation compared to and in fact more passengers are carried in the North America but Asia Pacific is growing faster and it was evident in the in the figure of 2018 that it has it was going faster than many other region of the world so we have a huge Prospect in Bangladesh okay let's go over to the next one so considering all these uh fact facts in fact we are very honored we are very lucky nation that our father of the nation he and racist that Bangladesh will become one day Regional Hub and that's why just after Independence he raised civilization industry in Bangladesh followed by her his uh our father of the nation our honorable prime minister she took all Initiative for the development if you look at the history you can see this 1971 after we had the independence and we started our functioning of a country and 1972 uh this uh our civilization was raised 1973 father of the nation he got Bangladesh civilization into the International Community that become that basically become the member of Iko in 1973. in 1984 there were two things one

was the airport Development Authority and our department of civilization this too was merged and it was made civilization Authority and 2018 Bangladesh due to its performance Bangladesh received Ikea president certificate and in this in the Audi Bangladesh is called very high grid which was a highest in the region and it of Bangladesh was awarded with the Ikea president certificate and 2019 as you know that our honorable prime minister made the groundbreaking of the mega project Industrial Airport terminal 3. and in 2020 our honorable prime minister also uh did the groundbreaking for Usman International Airport a new international terminal and in 2021 expansion of runway on the sea which has also started by honorable prime minister along with another project that we must be hearing that we have a new ATM CNS radar which has been under the process of induction in Bangladesh so these are many considering this huge opportunity of the aviation our government has taken huge Initiative for the development of horse aviation industry in Bangladesh if we look around we find you'll find that some of the countries our neighboring countries like Singapore Dubai Thailand Malaysia Maldives how have they developed it is because of the aviation connectivity which has made them today one of the true tourism for the tourism and also economically very robust nation and it was possible because of the connectivity connectivity through the aviation through the year air transportation this has air transportation has contributed development of all those countries especially in the flourishing the tourism sector so these are some of the lessons that we can learn from those Nations and Bangladesh is not falling behind Bangladesh has a also huge opportunity like other countries so I'd like to show you the reason that if we look at the our geography there is a delay between because of the net OK this is a picture that you can see that the circle this circle Inner Circle outer circuit there are if we look at our geographically Bangladesh is located in such a situ location um that within two hours we can reach in our Southeast region South Asian countries in four hours we can read any um whole Asia and if we extend six hours you can if you look six hours we can go to Europe or it covers most of the Asia Pacific region of our country so Bangladesh geographically is a very viable location and that was really envisas by our father of the nation demographically if we talk about our population you see we have 165 million more than a million people in Bangladesh and it is by population we are the huge number we have huge number and of which 7.5 million we have been I we have diaspora living in different countries and in Bangladesh 0.25 million foreigners are deciding or engaged in many development activities in Bangladesh so this number also dictates that how much uh opportunity we have to make Bangladesh as a regional Hub and so much of potentiality that we have and to attract um foreigners altruism or business in Bangladesh there are the elements that we require we have all those we have the tourism sector we have business opportunity we have Hospitality Services transport facilities and government is giving all uh due importance on all those areas that which attract people to any country to connect with other parts of the world the next slide is uh will show the okay you can see a map world map where we can see the blue one the deep blue is a is a density of the Aviation activities so Bangladesh Falls in that those area that means globally now Bangladesh is becoming a very important sector for the aviation Industries and the growth of Aviation the next one uh there's a delay as I said although it is a density you have seen but uh we have the tourism and now I'll talk about the aviation and the tourism Aviation tourism these two words are very synonymous any kind of tour is now considered as a tourism be it a business to beat a commercial tour beat a medical tour recreational tour educational tour so these are part of uh tourism and this tourism what is doing what is it is impacting it is impacting on the economy the once the economy growth is taking place that is that is very much evident in our country and the demand Aviation demand blow with the as you see the circle or to the right is comes economic growth and the aviation and that also gives for Aviation of growth and Aviation growth is coming through the connectivity improved connectivity that demands for any connectivity so this is a circular process that continues and contributing to the economy this is the impact of Aviation that is uh we observe globally and it is also prominent in our country the next slide is a it is showing a due to the internet speed probably we have some delay of displaying on the screen however this is a figure that uh can you share screen share please um anyway there's some tactical issuance I feel sorry for that just once it is connected again you will see that um Aviation has a huge potentiality globally and as I spoke also and there are a lot of job opportunities and if we talk about job then we find that acap has the most now look it's a very lucrative to see that in our region the global if you consider around 46 45 percent is a job opportunity is available in Asia Pacific whereas in North America although there is a huge Transportation the biggest in the globally that America Canada those areas but job opportunities must lesser compared to Asia Pacific and um next is in Europe it is a 13.5 million uh we'll show you the slide later on but and it has a big huge opportunity for contributing in our GDP is it done so if we are taking short pause because of the internet issue as we have some participants give my mobile phone I'll connect through my mobile we are waiting to connect internet internet is giving some trouble here is the zoom working this side no okay so I think we continue without the slide because people are waiting okay also I'm sorry for this inconvenience because of the technical error bacc internet is not working but what I would like to say that you have seen the potential opportunities uh created due to Aviation globally and if you talk about in Bangladesh we must say that it has a huge potential I think yeah I think we please allow my screen it's okay now yes we can hear you now okay yes sorry uh it was an interruption because of the Tactical uh difficulties in our bacc we come back to our um presentation as we had been talking about this huge opportunity now what if you see in Bangladesh the trend the connectivity the flight number of flights in 2019 to 20 uh October 2022 the number of total flights that taken place in international domestic you can see in the slide it is gradually and this is the total one and now we'll go and hear wise that we'll find that in 2019 it was to um almost 6 million passengers we carried out there was a movement of flights and also passenger and arrival departure and in 2022 it is almost coming 4 million plus in the short time whereas it was in 2018 almost 8 million passengers we traveled in Batu and from Bangladesh and it is also domestic sector also you can see the trend in the slide but I must say after the copied the the trend is the domestic sector is moving much higher space than of international and it is already evident the more number of passengers are traveling our domestic Airlines although because of the breeze some of the routes like Borussia and Cox from Joshua number of passengers reduced but I'm sure um with the support of ATA and other stakeholders those are working for the aviation if you can promote it will regain it is earlier status because of the fact this Aviation is the most sexiest journey and the quickest and that is why people will get confidence and will fall it will come back and of our expectation it will be much higher in coming years same as the cargo um cargo also we can we have seen we have witnessed during this covered that as the all the Border closed uh ports were closed uh this activity cargo activity is very much higher in Bangladesh and in future it will be this cargo carrying requirement will come more for in the aviation sector I'm not going to go for details now you see that what is the pressure on Bangladesh at this moment we had the capacity in hazar International Airport only 8 billion passengers per year and it was saturated almost saturated and that's why government decided to take up uh terminal 3. by now we have 52 air service agreement with our friendly nation and you can see 30 International carriers are operating to and from Bangladesh and 11 cargo operators are operating and we have four Bangladesh Airlines domestic Islanders are at this moment operating in Bangladesh and there are few more countries are interested to come to Bangladesh but due to the space constant we could not we cannot accommodate them we cannot accommodate more number of airliners coming to intended to fly to Dhaka or Chittagong or to sell it but gradually will it is the capability and this capacity and also will allow more Airlines to come and operate I think another we have another issue on the internet just anyway that is the thing that is okay again no we have another again disruption due to the internet issue but we'd like to continue uh that you have seen that how International um lenders are coming and operating and our government has taken in a big initiative to use Mega projects underway to accommodate more number of connectivity is not there yeah I'm still gonna go okay thank you as saying that the government Initiative for the development of our aviation industry uh we have government has taken Mega many mega projects including the development of upgradation of our domestic terminal domestic airports and upgradation of the international lab I already said that honorable prime minister has already integrated some of the our mechanical groundbreaking in Dhaka select and um and constant budget and I'd like to show some of the highlight of those make a projection and now it is in select with Cox's budget this is a glimpse of Terminal 3 as you know that is uh in next year inshallah we'll have the groundbreaking our soft opening of terminal 3.

and this will be the condition in the next October from one year from now almost this Terminal 3 will be almost ready I think again we have some issues and then in Cox's Badger extension of Runway over the sea that is also undergoing at this moment we'll continue with this because our slide is again showing problem I see internet has some problem okay uh I think it will be difficult for us to continue with the internet I'm sorry if I feel sorry for the participants those who are joining in the zoom but those of you are sitting here let it continue uh collecting the world my next topic is that how we are connecting because in this program today we have most of the travel residents you are here you are on one of the major player in correcting the world with Bangladesh as a travel agent and then the airliners the second component and third is the civilization Authority and along with us we have the stakeholders big number of stakeholders are working but major thing starting with the passenger the passengers the travel agent you are directly dealing with the um passengers you are making them prepared for getting involved with the aircraft the airliners following the standard recommended procedures and the requirement they are taking the passengers from passengers or goods from our country to the other destination and see what the civilization is doing we are regulating we are facilitating regulating following the international Norms International requirement IQ requirement and preparing the infrastructure facilitating this all this trouble through the air safely so this is the function of civilizational authority and ensuring the international requirement and other stakeholders like Customs immigration Health then many other stakeholders are there those who are taking care of this business in Bangladesh like police apbn answer bdp uh well postmaster office Bank babashikalan many other agencies are at least almost 30 organizations are also working as a stakeholder so these are the main component that we work together to facilitate our passengers move from the country our tourists coming in going out from this country and even the major player those who are today attending in this seminar so we have a huge responsibility connecting Bangladesh with the other part of the world while doing so we have lot of challenges I like to mention few of the challenges the global challenges contemporary challenges are at this moment for the aviation industry and the connectivity first one is considered the fuel fuel is very important for aviation fuel efficiency as the as the aviation industry is looking for the cheaper option the this fuel is efficient aircraft is very important the designer is working on the fuel efficiency the customers or the passengers are looking forward to having a cheaper options with a less cost low cost fuel whereas again there is a fuel issue regarding the carbon emission fuel with less carbon that is a natural demand now so this is a big challenge at this moment aviation industry is facing and look at that Global congestion the Mona as I said that now more number of travel is taking place through the air condition is increasing so this is a challenge that aviation industry Aviation those are connected with their patient we all are facing number of passengers number of cargo is moving uh bulk volume global economy as we are witnessing at this moment due to the Ukraine war that economy has a tremendous effect and that also affects the operation of Aviation Industries maintenance and giving facilitation all this thing having very impact on the global economy also technological advancement is a really uh issue because it's a very technically oriented business Aviation so any this event technology is moving very fast Innovation is taking place so that has to any organization any country it requires to be really updated on the technology otherwise we'll fall behind um as you see that our government has taken initiative to having new aircraft uh all the biman fleet we have the latest aircraft Incorporated but it is very difficult to Medicare for the many countries Aviation industrial stressing difficulties to cope up with the technological advancement so this is a challenge yeah fifth or fifth one is the passenger Comfort where all the all of you present today those are today sitting here travel agent airliners and civilization uh other stakeholders we have to really cater for the passenger cap Comfort experience satisfaction see this is a big issue for all of us to ensure so this is an issue that we will have to all work out so that we can give the best of the services to the passenger terrorism another issue is a security after the nine one nine one uh attack in um New York and also previously bomb attack there's a huge terrorism uh activities was in cycled uh uncircled towards the aviation because it's a very soft target very uh very much vulnerable and also prawn to a threat um and it is very difficult to ensure un safe conduct without if we do not really take care of the security issue so this issue is a very much concerned by the old stakeholders all the countries involved International civilization the trend has improved I think the security issues it must mitigated now through different measures policies that uh interested civilization organization at the library status now complying with and the equipment has been inducted so this is the thing evolving security issues are coming so we have to really take care to meet these challenges Airline infrastructure the airport infrastructure this is a will have to also cope up do we need to upgrade constantly every time any kind of changes in this communication navigation ah system management system this is covered as a aligned with the technology these are the things also request to be upgraded there that's why we are Bangladesh government is also taking a lot of initiative for the infrastructure development in Bangladesh last but not the least the climate is a very important issue climate also has a big impact big challenge for deviation that includes global warming carbon emission then even our natural causes of pandemic many other like copied these are all coming as a climate change so these are the factors that we also have to take care we have to prepare ourselves and this is the aviation in this very much burner level but very much vulnerable the challenges that I have spoken so this what is the way forward so Way Forward there are many way from uh as we have understood the challenges and the requirement the government is taking initiative government is devising regulatory um giving the policy guideline and uh promoting facilitating the growth of aviation industry policy support financial support the government is giving us and the civil aviation First Sight we are providing the regulatory framework and the policy infrastructure development to the assistance of the government also from this own fund creating sustainable Aviation ecosystem that civil aviation is trying to create in Bangladesh and what is the function of the other stakeholders other stakeholders that use responsibility to customize services in accordance with the international practices and the best practices that is an huge task for every stakeholder uh involved for this Aviation activities and especially so the operators airliners and tour operators or the uh thus agencies metabolism says you have to Modern business plan export the best connectivity and also ensure the passenger satisfaction so that is your responsibility along with modernizing the fleet of the responsibility of the airliners development develop Human Resources train your personnel because Aviation is such a delicate Arena that those who are involved they have to be really trained and capable of taking challenges of the aviation activities so so these are the few things that I wanted to share from my side but I feel really sorry that today there was a huge disturbance of the technology interference and still we could not Rectify our connectivity with the zoom internet that is in fact not expected at all often of such a international uh Community Center that from here we have such a difficulties I feel PT for those are attending through the gym they could not be connected they have they have already they are already disconnected and those who are participating here as I don't see that we have any Foreigner here only oh I'm sorry but apologize foreign um direct impact direct activities for the disturbances I'm really sorry that we have some difficult situation due to the technical technological problem but hopefully in future there will be now such situations Edition with this I like to conclude my presentation may Allah bless us all joy Bangla [Applause] thank you very much honorable chairman civilization authority of Bangladesh a very nice presentation very Dynamic and Brilliant though there was a little problem with the internet so sometimes technology is blessing sometime if it is not working properly it is problem but we understand it so we have to accept it sometime thank you for your nice deliberation thank you very much now I would like to in just a moment another internet okay we have uh iata Regional director she was connected through Zoom but we're very honorable and she miss unified young she was connected but due to technical problem we cannot uh continue with zoom and the internet so I think we should change that they are sitting now I will request a honorable chairman the guests to just give us a few minute to sit up change the sit up volunteered chair then quick foreign I'd like to request our honorable chairman of this seminar on our secretary Ministry of civilization and tourism Mr amnimo kamalescent to take his chair also the chairman cab Mr air Vice Marshall Bangladesh request Mr Morgan D'Souza country manager Tata science Bangladesh to have a chair on the stage Mr seiful Please Mr cyborhawk CEO and Country general manager several I would like to request our president to come over the stage quarters the CEO b tv Mr Java please check your chair yes director corporate and planning here Commodore Dr mahu jankan please come over the stage and take your seat now I'd like to request to discuss on the matter Mr shahrukha vikrama Singh Countryman is a Singapore Airlines please come over the dice I would like to uh do a site correction vikramaditya from Sri Lankan Airlines chairman civilization we both both our countries represent a great game cricket and once we had a marvelous cricketers Master Blaster so uh once he comes to the pitch and plays around 100 150 uh a player like me if you call me muridaran the great bowler has no score to play so after chairman has bettered so well uh I wonder where I stand anyway I will try to put some googly Center to keep my stand on it guess executive committee of atab and ayata connecting Bangladesh to the world a well-timed topic at a juncture Bangladesh is spoken in many platforms many forms of amazing manner is managing the economic and sustaining growth level at a time Terminal 3 will be commissioned in almost within a year and all ingredients and infrastructure is falling in place done within the business Community using Air transport to do business across the board borders these Business Leaders confirmed the critical nature of Air transport in their business success 89 percent believed that being close to an airport with Global Connections gives them a competitive advantage 84 percent could not imagine doing business without access to Air transport Networks 82 percent thought their business could not survive without connectivity a Global Supply chains via Air transport some 65 percent Business Leaders survived during the kovid relying on Aviation for Global connectivity the Asian development Bank said economic corridors or anchored firmly on transport corridors an international experience suggests that the high level of connectivity within and cross-countries the high level of economic growth once said that there's a direct impact on Air transport growth with economic growth in a country why you say our connectivity needed yeah gravity and name Bills cross-border trade your connectivity supports tourism flows and mainly air connectivity enables cross-body investment and knowledge Exchange for a well-established connectivity for Bangladesh with the world there needs to be a vehicle a vehicle that is representing an established Society a vehicle that leads the consistency and honesty a vehicle that bridge gaps a vehicle that Community communities trust and driven by professionals and the know-how and ladies and gentlemen atab is this vehicle that could play a leading role along with the civil aviation Authority the ministry of Tourism atop can make Bangladesh connected to the world they could lead this requirement and make Bangladesh one of the best connected to the world thank you for your excellent speech and discussion now I'd like to request Mr Morgan from Tata science Alliance the country manager of Bangladesh please come over good morning all um or a chairman also like to thank chairman of cab our Top members and all distinguished guests here so first of all I think as what was told by by chairman gab I think the data the information is so wonderful you can get an idea of how Bangladesh is moving in what direction what is the way forward and I was actually surprised to see the cargo that is moving through the covet times the amount of cargo was stupendous and the growth factors in terms of all other airports that are being planned expanded is such great information civil aviation is important to any country and we recognize that in two countries I come from India so India Bangladesh has grown tremendously and will continue to grow in the coming years ahead as well for that I also have to thank the ministry of civilization and chairman cab and all other government organizations that are helping Airlines to grow and to come to Bangladesh and experience a country the thing that I want to speak most about is for incoming tourism that is close to my heart because I want a lot of people coming from other parts of the world to experience Bangladeshi culture and I mean Bangladeshi culture means Hospitality I have traveled to a number of countries in my time I've experienced the most warm the best Hospitality in Bangladesh and I can say that with pride I want rest of the world to experience what I've experienced I've traveled to select mauli Bazaar to Sri Mongol to lavachara I propose to go to Chittagong to all other areas but what Bangladesh has to offer the world doesn't know they have to come they have to see they have to go to Padma Bridge they have to sit on a boat go around Padma beach in the water and experience what is Padma Bridge it took me a day but so much joy I must tell you somebody asked me in my organization where do you want to go I said I want to go to Padma Bridge first why because it symbolizes so much joy so much pride in in in Bangladesh so I'm moving away from civilization but all I want to say is as an individual or as individuals uh the examples that I gave is that if we encourage more people to come and experience the country civilization grows tourism grows and that's what is my Endeavor as as vistaran as an airline to increase and to get more people to come into and visit country and experience a country and I must tell you that the food culture in Bangladesh is immense I'm an avid Museum follower the museums are excellent and I can tell you it's far better than even London that I have visited so we must appreciate what is there here which is excellent and we should make uh Express an awareness to everyone uh so that's all I got to say I think individually we should encourage like I've got friends so doctor friends who came yesterday I asked them where have you gone have you been to select they said yes have you been to Chittagong have you been to other places so encouraging uh people who come from out to visit to share and to go back and and also give the experience so every time I go back to my country I get ask a question what does Bangladesh has to offer and I've got to speak for two hours to say what Bangladesh has to offer so thank you very much for allowing me to speak but thank you again thank you [Applause] excellent excellent Mr Morgan D'Souza what do you know what you understand Bangladesh it is uh what Bangladesh is has to tell inform the world so you are doing it in favor of us thank you very much now I'd like to invite Mr saifullah country general manager and CEO saver Bangladesh please come and have your discussion on these issues foreign of this very important seminar honorable honorable secretary Bangladesh Ministry of civilization and keynote presenter chairman uh Bangladesh civilization Authority and distinguished Gates and the friends of Bangladesh tourism and aviation industry assalamu alaikum very good morning good afternoon uh thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to say and put my points on this Keynotes and before starting my speech I want to offer a big class for this after for their very important and timely initiatives to make a word industry people so uh big tasks for Rather because they have they are generating the ideas they are taking the initiatives and put their full efforts to accomplish it that's a great beauty of their initiatives thank you and thank you honorable chairman civilization Authority uh we observed sir has presented a very comprehensive uh uh uh uh environment uh What uh our Dream what initiatives we have taken uh in the context of infrastructure development as well as what output uh we are expecting uh from all of our initiatives and tremendously uh and not only that what we have observed ah what we have observed uh that's a ah the people involved with this great initiatives are not only performing their jobs they are just spontaneously working on it for the development so uh that's a thank you chairman civilization Authority for your very comprehensive presentation and we believe that will bring a huge development in our Aviation and tourism industry and the policy as well as whatever you are undertaking and Ministry of civilization they have a very big role to bring this industry in a very easy for the uh investors as well as stakeholders as well as the uh our partners like Airlines so uh I I believe everything is going fine and that will bring a use development for us and we need to now make our world we are ready to invite you we are ready to entertain you in various ways because we have already learned connection across the country and uh thank you so much uh honorable chair and civilization for your very comprehensive uh Keynotes presentation thank you thank you all for hearing me thank you Mr saiful Hawk now I'd like to request air Commodore Dr mahabub Jahan Khan for a short discussion please honorable secretary minister of civilization tourism prospected sir chairman civilization authority of Bangladesh nearby special professor CEO of the tourism board others other distinguished guests on the dies the top office bearers of travel agency of Bangladesh and other members respected ladies and gentlemen once again assalamu alaikum thank you for giving me a chance I'll take maybe three to four minutes time to represent bhiman Bangladesh Airlines on this occasion first of all I would like to convey my special thanks to civilization chairman uh chairman civilization to Bangladesh for covering a wonderful presentation though there was some little technical difficulties but we could really get what was in the presentation sir and we have heard the heard from the right Authority on this subject specially I would say now as you just correctly say that tourism and Aviation are nearly synonymous in fact the tourism Prospect of this country may be Co tourism would be speaking so the rich cultural heritage which is covered by Mr D Silva also the largest mangrove forest of this country in the world sundarban the longest unbroken sandy sea beach our Cox's budget all this thing makes us very unique and we have diverse flora and fauna to make this country a wonderful tourism destination in the days to come inshallah and I am sure that government has taken the right step and We Know by this time that probably in 2019 government has taken a three-phase you know tourism master plan and already the two phases are completed as I know from the paper newspaper and probably we're it is a 10th theme you know uh master plan so probably we are going the right track and I will uh I'm happy that in our country something is happening like that has presented the keynote paper where he has given some challenges I would like to humbly add to two or three challenges sir because as an airline we have faced the most Challenge from the pandemic recent pandemic okay so maybe a pandemic like situation though economic recession was covered Global economics covered by him but uh probably we had been the host uh sufferer of This Global kobit pandemic then we know that you know this environmental Consciousness especially where from the you know supply chain is being managed I mean if you talk about the global supply chain in the Alliance industry it is again a great concern from the uh effluent Travelers air Travelers so these are couple of you know challenge we can add with that rich presentation and from Airline point of view we have another challenge that you know emergence of low cost carriers and ultra low cost careers so I'm sure probably someone from salamere is here maintaining the low cost carrier and some other Air arrivals is the low cost career so this emergency itself is a challenge for the Legacy careers or full service carriers what demand is to address by you know having some good strategies and if we look back to the history of Aviation say before 1950 or before the emergence of jet aircraft you know that there was some flight from Saint Petersburg to Tampa in Florida in 1914. uh perhaps 1914 so traveling only 17 Mile or 27 kilometer that was the first commercial flight and then in 1935 once American Airlines looked for larger aircraft so Douglas DC3 came and then ultimately it was the story of Aviation and the prospect if we see the prospect of the country in Bangladesh connecting because as he said that our country is has taken big plan master plan then this rise of Halal tourism is again a prospect for Bangladesh because a lot of Middle Eastern and Gulf countries from Muslim tourism tourists are there then Aviation itself is enjoying largest growth in the asia-pacific region something around close to five percent International passengers then our country itself is enjoying economic graduation we are getting you know more income and more disposable income naturally it will be adding more Travelers so these viewers I would like to conclude here by saying another important thing that you know if how Aviation and tourism can play role you see the Emirates Airline itself single Airline how they have made this desert destination of Dubai a dream destination for the world tourists same will happen after this world cup probably Qatar Airways will play even greater role to make Doha as a dream destination of the globe so we have a huge Prospect only we have to work everyone in a connective coordinated way thank you very much thank you very much ladies and gentlemen the iatrist general director Miss unifred Young she is now connected with us so I'd like to request can you hear me Winnie Zoom is okay okay I have my slide with you I presume you will be showing hi can you confirm that you will be slowing my slides slide this power back on yes you can no it's with you will you be showing it yes we can see it you you can see the slides I can't see my own slide ah okay thank you very much I can't see my slide so may I begin sir good afternoon my esteemed colleagues in Bangladesh you know ayata and myself personally we wish to extend our appreciation to ATA for giving us this opportunity to greet you and to share with you an industry update today my name is uh as uh you said is Winifred young and you know 100 of the time I go by winning so glad to meet you I am with ayata Asia Pacific office in based in Singapore looking after the financial services that ayata offers to the industry and I'm also taking care of promoting the digital transformation initiatives for distribution and payments again my pleasure to meet you virtually and I wish I can be there to meet you face to face and look forward to that to happen soon um thank you for changing the slide for me uh a quick introduction uh we are the global trade Association for the world's Airlines today our membership hovers around 290 Airlines of all business models from the Legacy carriers to the low-cost carriers the Hayden Executive offices of Ayala are based in Montreal Canada and Geneva Switzerland Singapore where I am based is one of the five Regional Offices for us you know my next slide please in summary ayata core activities can be seen in three main pillars the first one is advocacy it's very important because it's about reaching out to decision makers to ensure that our industry can continue to operate at the most Fair efficient and effective Manner and that customers and customers includes passengers and businesses alike have a easy access to air travel then there is the standard setting the the day um and there is this the standard setting area where we play the role as facilitators and custodians of the industry standards so all stakeholders have common standards to work with one another excuse me in just a moment I would like to request you to make it a short briefing because uh already we have our Zuma prayer here in Bangladesh so okay so I would request you to make it short please no problem so right now if you're at the uh so as I said Singapore is where the Regional Offices we have 45 member Airlines including Bangladesh uh 45 Men by Airlines and we have uh 13 000 accredited agents in Bangladesh we have about uh 1 300 agents okay you can skip this slide and you can go to the next one um we have teams talking after different areas and so my area we look after all the financial settlements area if you go to the next slide as promised I'm going to go through you go through with you the performance I think this one I will not skip too much on global Regional and the Bangladesh perspective next two slides please next one so splitting the global performance by age by the regions Air transport has been recovering with some regions faster than the others mainly due to the timing and opening of the borders so in the last report overall our industry should recover by 2024 back to the 2019 level in Asia Pacific we're lagging behind a bit possibly recovering it in 2025 but this is again an overall perspective and I think later of good news for you in Bangladesh okay next one please as we look at the recovery Trend uh it was the oh wow well you really fast um we're not there yet so uh all right let's see we are looking at global if you don't mind um but like to be able to show the global booking resilient not this or next one as we look um the slide's not coming up but really um the domestic uh the domestic recovery was better but more faster and international bookings are closing in all right um there are two big obstacles right now for industry one is of course there are still close borders in this region and I hope that will change soon the second most important globally is the jet fuel prices you know the jet fuel the fly of airplanes and again we hope that will improve as well so where you are please don't move the slide because I want to share with you Asia Pacific numbers in Asia Pacific the sales transaction coming through in Asia Pacific this is for passenger ticket sales the gap between 2019 and 2022 is closing but really at the end of the year we're looking at about 65 to 70 percent Zone that means of 2019 numbers okay next slide is for cargo you know as the um his Excellency said just now for the cargo volume we've been doing very well last year and we all know how it's been a blessing for our industry we look forward to it reaching the 2019 one as well but we're still quite far away okay and the 29 one the next slide it's more on sharing with you that cash is still being a head of credit card in Asia Pacific and there is a new form of settlement that we introduce called ayada easy pay and that's also been introduced in Bangladesh as well next slide and as you can see the easy pay in Asia Pacific we're talking about total 180 million worth of US dollars worth of transaction already you know almost 900 000 transactions later I'll share with you about Bangladesh you know in terms of this way of uh statistic the next one Bangladesh this is where I'm going to congratulate you and this very much aligned with what air marshal uh movie mofida said that you know uh in since November 2021 the passenger sales transaction for Bangladesh have already surpassed the 2019 level and we're confident that Bangladesh can achieve New Heights you know especially with the opening on T3 in Dhaka next year so we look forward to supporting you on that next one on the cargo side there's consistent Improvement for Bangladesh as well and this year doing better than 20 21 months or months 2022 should end with a better total better than last year all right next one in Bangladesh it has traditionally been only cash transaction for all the passenger sales I mentioned earlier there is now the ayada easy pay alternative that is available but not well used yet by the agents in Bangladesh next one next slide please so far there has been 5 000 transactions in Bangladesh frankly we have 90 we have 900 000 in Asia Pacific and 4 million worldwide so I think we can do better right in Bangladesh next year we hope to work with you as our agent Partners to raise awareness of this form of payment for you to understand how this alternative form of payment can also be a good fund management tool for you right going forward last but not least amending so this way we can save a few minutes we will continue to work with you and all the stakeholders in the value change uh value chain towards the industry 2030 Vision next slide please in 2020 2030 we look forward for freedom of distribution putting the customer in the center of the distribution planning and next slide and in that same year we hope to ensure that there is 100 efficiency in payments for all stakeholders in the value chain right and the last slide this one we can ignore and go to the next slide thank you very much for the time listening to me I wish I had more time with you but nonetheless thank you for giving us the opportunity to share the numbers with you and if there's anything else you can always talk to us we look forward to supporting you in your vision to be a Aviation and tourism Hub thank you thank you Miss Sony Fred young really it was a very wonderful presentation but due to time constraint we missed it um we'd request you to share this slide if possible to add up then we can circulate it within our members so that they can be updated with that daughters thank you thank you very much now we have another another discussion uh Mr SMS mulanam residential officer flight safety Ico Asia Pacific you will be joining through Zoom from Thailand Mr Arnold can you hear me yes yes you can carry one I would request you to make it short because you know today is the Zuma prayer so honorable guests and the audience is has to go there so request to make it short thank you okay I'll make it very quick and just on the discussion part I will give the part that where Bangladesh will face challenges directly probably as we know that Bangladesh is growing I would like to take it positive in terms of the regional Hub and Bangladesh has a huge potential because as Chinese civilization has already shown that Bangladesh is located almost at the center of six hours you know around the Asia and then Middle East so depending on the type of aircraft certainly it varies but then it has a huge potential number two is Bangladesh at this point in time has leveraged I would say that comparing the whole Asia Pacific a good amount of fund for building the infrastructure your data airport coming up silhouette and Cox's Bazaar on top of that there is an area University so prime minister has given you the fund now it is our duty at the next level to really you know materialize that and then whether we are ready or not and that goes with the entire facets of back backward and forward linkage and tourism is one of them but then I am sure that the country will be working out but we would expect that it is worked out scientifically is very very important the next biggest issue that the civilization should I mean from where the business flows if I give you an example of Thailand Thailand was under significant safety concern for three three to four years almost there lost almost 2 billion dollar each year from the tourism sector out of 42 Airlines in almost 18 Airlines sat down so there is a huge challenge in terms of compliance probably here we have to all help that whether civilization goes with the compliance one of the example also with Bangladesh that you have the brand new Fleet with triple seven 300 years 787s and all this stuff but you can't go to USA which is Long Haul aircraft where the such a huge aircraft is flying basically Dhaka Chittagong and up to Kuala Lumpur huge cycle cost if you understand what is called cycle cost so thereby it goes with certain kind of compliance and also flows from another segment which is also responsible for biman from the planning side is called Air Services agreement and this is elevation and the government so unless you have the frequency available then you cannot fly clearly I mean if I give an example that UAE and Bangladesh have less 135 frequency just because they have more number of aircraft they are flying almost 135 with their carriers with your carrier you are only flying 28 or 21 just be managed line that means it needs a fleet Choice it has to come strategically you have to promote the airlines so tourism does not come without connectivity one is it's coming through the foreign carrier one is your own career can make it so certain places you have to make it business viable and then my point is that whether civil aviation the ministry of civilization and tourism and also the stakeholders has to sit we have seen over the past decades when we sit for BS Services agreement frequency allocation demand restricts and nobody proceeds and then you start to fight between each other Airline and then ultimately it becomes very difficult to go through now the new airline has come in here esta what is the vision how you will pamper it so in terms of Aviation sustainability probably you have to really go beyond the normal thought process if you have to take Bangladesh as a regional app my next important point is the financial part to some extent has or winning has say that ayat is facilitating but at this point in time you will see Emirates has cut down two flights cover because of World Cup maybe but then later on whether they will continue turkey has cut down flies others are cutting down flight because there is a dollar crisis and then the GSS cannot realize they made the money it's a huge huge problem and then you have to come up with the financial policy hundreds of millions of dollars are stuck back in Bangladesh and then how we will do that is an important issue and if Iota is facilitating then you have to immediately change the regulations inside the Bangladesh and then adopt it because these are facilitation no somebody every airline has to pay the monthly lease payment and then they cannot just sit down because 100 millions are sitting down in your bank here and they cannot take the money and that's the reality at this point in time I hope the secretary civilization is here you will take care with the other Ministries and then come up with ayata to make it easy and then that becomes transparent and then much more you know friendly in terms of financial leverage uh last but not the least in terms of Tourism Bangladesh is a labor driven Market I mean apparently at this point in time but the GDP growth is quite high so reach 90 of them is going outside now how you would like to attract the you know inward part of it in terms of tourists is another important issue that we have to think about think about Thailand I mean Thailand has branded their local products Thailand people do not come because there is a good Aviation that's one part of it but then it's an integrated service only with the two Hand I mean or the two fingers of massage Thai muscles they have branded with illiterate people and then how much they earn and then anybody who has taken a thigh massage will travel next year once again to come back and have a thigh massage I'm I'm just giving you an example Bangladesh also has a lot to offer in terms of branding there we could not focus whether it is community based whether whether it is with the micro credit whether it is with the great event garments whether it is with Mangrove or Sandy Beach we have to Brand it outside and then to showcase at least I am staying in Thailand I have not seen Thai Embassy in last two three years has done anything on tourism that means there is no trigger from our side from the country inside to the outside where the embassies are there and then people will really know that what are the triggers in Bangladesh to really go for the tourism and last but not the least is the connectivity of the airlines all the airlines are flying point to point we have to come out of this we are enough matured by now one could share that will materialize in in last 10 15 years biman had been talking with if they have and this and that I know all the history but then it's pretty difficult that we have seen it does not happen end of the day why it does not happen I'm giving you the clue it does not happen because the interfacing is not transparent if your Finance is not transported nobody will become your partner can you make it short please yeah just just last minute so so so my my last point is that code sharing is an important issue if you have to have the further connectivity you have a huge Market beside this India and also within South Asia I hope that those are some of the points that we can take care and tomorrow I have another presentation where I will elaborate father thank you very much thank you thank you very important and Brilliant discussion from Mr Anam uh residential office of flight safety Ico and now very important discussion and this is very much related for the extension of Bangladesh tourism the CEO honorable CEO of Bangladesh tourism board Mr Abu Tahir mama please come over and deliver your speech and discussion honorable chairperson secretary civilization amon
