Camping by a Riverside Surrounded by Mountains... Subaru Overland Adventure Ep3
In the last, episode, we went, hiking. It was fun and enjoyable. At the beginning, but quickly turns into a bad experience. But hey, that's what adventure, is all about right, you'll never know what's around the corner, and you always have to adapt. And today's schedule, is also, full of awesome surprise. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Hi, i'm jordan. And this, is asm, overland. You want to know how the day started. Here it. Is. Screen. Switch. Hmm. So. Yes. Hi guys so. We had a blast in the river, this morning, and now we are back on the road. And, we're going to start to climb, the, call de lison. To get to another. Nice and, wide part. Of this, region. And it's going to be the beginning, of, tomorrow's, hike, and. Um. For the day even after. We have some more wikilog, tracks to explore, so that's going to be pretty. Nice. So. Okay, so we just passed, the call, the liz row, but all the way up there. During the downhill, the brakes, were smelling, a bit, because. Yeah it's pretty loaded, in the forester. Now it's around 5 p.m, and we're gonna, search for two night camp spots, we want to, be at our comfort, pretty early because we are tired, of this morning. With the white water activity. So, it should be 20 minutes away. And it should be good as well. So, i'm gonna drive just a bit more. This, way. And. I will see you at the calm spot. Any word. How's the view. Oh the view is pretty awesome. Two years ago we went, pretty much in the same area. And we always wanted to go to the, vanuatu, national, park. And at the end we never. Went to the vanuatu, national park and we just crossed the, the sign, earlier, and we were so happy to finally. Be, in the. Vanuatu. Region. We waited two years to do it. We tried. And now we are and it's pretty. Beautiful. After a few try, we finally, found a nice and quiet camp spot. We spent a relaxing. Afternoon, on this beautiful, place, near a small river, with only mountains, for view. I took some time to work while lizan was taking a nap, honestly. This is the best, office, you can. Have. Then, a good meal made of fleas and smear. Prep. And also, a good and actually, hot, shower. And to hand, this nice day. A good amount of. Sleep. Hey good morning guys so. We woke up this morning, and it was. Raining, like crazy. And we're supposed to go on a hike. But, we'll see depending, on the weather, if we do it or not. Right now. I'm making. Breakfast, this is basically, my morning, routine. With the the fire maple. Stove. My espro. Travel press. Some striker, coffee. Company, coffee, and i also make lisand, some tea. And. This is every morning. The same things so this is super quick to do. And, everything is ready, under five minutes so that's.
Pretty Cool. Breakfast. And then we're gonna see if we. We're gonna make this hike or not, stay tuned. At the end we didn't, went for that hike. Instead, we enjoyed our day at camp, watching, that amazing, view, how to walk together, along the river, and just chill and rest. Hey. It was our holidays, after. All. But, the day after, we woke up pretty early because we had some trails, to explore. And adventure. Was waiting for us. Good, morning, guys, today, we have a beautiful. Sunny day. That's actually pretty awesome, i'm in a very good mood, i just did a general, checkup. Of the car because, today we're gonna hit, some, trails. That's gonna be, i think pretty interesting, pretty awesome. We're gonna go around the river here, on the other side, and follow the trail, and we are actually, gonna drive. Until, we reach the italian. Border. It should be pretty amazing, and we're not gonna lose, any more time. Let's get to it stay tuned. Guys. Um. I. What, is. That. Okay so we were driving, along this. Beautiful. Trail. And we came across this little. This little, uh monument, and this is actually, a memorial, for two soldiers. That sadly, died in 19. In. 1935. So that was long ago. And, um. They died in an avalanche. While rescuing. Their, uh fellow soldiers. So that that's actually a pretty sad story. Uh, but. It's. This memorial, is pretty much in the middle. In the mountain. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. And um. It's always. Interesting, stuff to to explore, to discover, i love. That. And they were from the, 13, bca. Which is the brigade. Um. The brigade, chaser alpha. Which is the the brigade, of. Halpin, hunters. Which is a regiment. Specialized. In into mountain, stuff. Here, in the french army. And, yeah we're gonna keep going. We have a beautiful, day, the trail is absolutely, awesome. And. Let's keep. Going. All right guys so we were on the trails. And there were some gates, but they were open. And. So this means we were allowed to drive on those trails. But, at one point, we came across a guy, that. Told us it was. His, trail, and we weren't supposed, to, drive, there. And i tried to to, tell him that. The signs. Weren't. Relevant. And. Official. Unofficial. And technically. I was. Totally. Allowed to drive there, but. You know um, that we are not from here and we don't want to piss the the local, people. Uh we are friendly, uh overlanders. So, at the end we didn't. Went. Uh all the way up, to the fort. And we decided, to. Just go down, on another, trail. It was pretty pretty, nice trail. I really enjoyed the moments. But i'm a bit frustrated. Because we didn't, went to the, old forts. But. That will be for tomorrow, we're gonna visit, the nice, uh lake of the mount sinis. And then the the old forts, and right now we are on our way to. Actually the same hot spots as, yesterday, because it was um. A good one, and we, enjoyed, it, and we are, we know for sure that we'll be able to. Set up camp. Easily. So. Yeah, and. We also. Had um. Quite, a. Small. Creepy, moment, because, we were. Doing some. Uh grocery. Uh. Grocery, where we went at the grocery, store it was a small one. And. Uh the forester, was parked, in front of it. But we went inside, because we had some stuff to buy, and, um. Jordan, saw a guy like. Uh walking around, forester. Once. Twice. Three times. And it was just around, it so we, finished. Our groceries, and we came back in, jordan, was at the back and i was inside, and the guy was still here, like. Literally. At the at the door here. And he was going around, here so i i went inside the forester, and i blocked, my door and then. I blocked the door behind me. And i was waiting for jordan to uh. Come in, and when jordan, came in and blocked all the door, so he closed, all the car, the guy suddenly, he was he was going like this, here at my window. Went all the way, down, and when he heard the car closing, up, he just like went up. Straight. Uh in front of us and he just continued, his route. And, so. I told roland oh that's uh very, creepy, because, for like 20 minutes he, was. Looking. His way but now that we are inside the car and we closed it he finally, found where he wanted to go. So. Yep, we. Are, this is a kind reminder, that we always, always always, always, always, and you guys out there always always always always always. Have to be very careful. With your, car with your gears, with. Everything that you have inside, and, with every single, people that you encounter, because you never know. So. Yep, be safe out there and. Make sure that. You are. In a very safe place, and.
You Are, taking care of. Yourself. Do. Okay, so. We've been chilling at camp, whoa. Surprised, because, i didn't told her i was filming, okay, so we chilled, the whole, afternoon. Here at camp. We set up the awning. Which is pretty. Rare. Moment. Event. But, when there is some sun it's really. Useful. There's some pasta cooking, and uh. That was a nice day. Nice trails. Even if we didn't make it. To the end. That. Is gonna be for tomorrow, guys. So now we're gonna have some nice pasta, with some red pesto. Some. Veggies. And. A good night of sleep. I also set up the solar, panel, the whole afternoon, and it worked, like a charm. I got almost, 5 amps, of the all afternoon, so the fridge. Ran i think two cycles. Just with the the solar panel. So the aux battery. Is. Completely, full and that. And that's pretty nice. I try to catch the last. Sun, sun rays but. Now it's the end. We don't have any sun anymore. But yep i'm pretty happy with the solar. Setup. We're almost at the italian, border. So that's a little um. Clown day, you know. So. I'm still, making the shower. The old way. Cold water. Eating them with the stove. Hot water, and then. In the shower. I i really need to work on that heat transfer, thing with the, the fuzz radiator. It will be way better, way. Faster. I really have to work on. It. After a good night of sleep, as usual, in the rooftop, tents, we packed up everything, to leave this beautiful, hot spot, obviously. Better, than we found it. It was time to hit the road again, and this time. To a pretty, big lake, the monsenis. Lake. Sadly, it was the weekend, and the place was, crowded, with french and italian, people, because we were just a few kilometers. Of the italian, water. Oh, and here is one of the old farts. After that, it was the end, we took the road and did a good part of our way back home. The mountains, were slowly, disappearing. Leading place to small hills, and fields. We stopped on a random, camp spot, the last test of this adventure. And it turns out to be a beautiful, one. I wish we had more time to dive into that lake. Just. Look at it.
