2023 Lucid Air Touring One Year Later | Owner's Review Part 2

Show Video

Man, it's soo windy but Anyways, we're here for this part 2 guys. Owner's review, one year later. This is my 2023 Lucid Air Touring, and I'm going to give you guys another breakdown of what has been happening so far. Now I know you guys are probably thinking yo, why is your car so filthy? Now, I was thinking whether or not to wash it first before making this video.

But honestly, I was like, let's make a twist. Every single Lucid Air video on YT out there, shows a 2025 that's like brand new and sparkling clean. So I was like, you know I want to show you guys what this car looks like absolutely filthy, disgusting. It's been around two to three weeks since I've last washed this car. Look at all the bird dookie right there. It's like as if someone vandalized this car, but yea.

This car is absolutely in its worst state that I've ever had it in. But yea, let me know what you guys think. This is literally the most filthiest Lucid Air probably out there right now.

Alright, it's getting a little too windy. Let's take a step inside. Look at that. Peace and quiet. Oh actually, it's almost winter so I think I'm going to remove these (canopy) sunshades actually, but I'll do that in a bit.

But, as of right now. Let's start talking about what's been going on with the software in this car. So I am currently on version 2.4.10

Which is the most updated version, or the most recent I would say, and it's been very good. They've been updating the UI, the software. And like now, before you could not turn the headlights but now you can. I know that sounds kinda silly. Very snappy stuff, very snappy. Maybe let's go look at the maps. It's been improving actually.

Look at that. Before, it would just be laggging everywhere. Very good job, very good Lucid. They replaced Alexa obviously but anyways, I am going to skip the specifics. I want to talk about some nit picking things that I've actually encountered.

Alright so number one definitely has to be the seat belt alarm. So, I'm not sure if all you viewers have ever heard it but this is what it sounds like. Headphone warning (not really) I would suggest you guys to turn down the volume but if you press the brake without putting on your seatbelt. This is what it sounds like. (These are VERY loud in person lol) Yikes, yea so that sound actually plays every single time there's someone sitting in your car, let's say in the back seat, and then they forgot to put on their seatbelt.

Yea, it gets pretty annoying pretty quick I wished that Lucid would actually tone it down just a bit cause it actually gets on your nerves. Kind of, I mean I know that it shouldn't be a problem if everyone seatbelts. But not going to lie, it's pretty challenging putting on seatbelts in the back seat, and let me show you why. Alright so actually, I've had struggles putting on these seatbelts in the back seat because as you can see, they're essentially flush to the seat.

They have the ability to sit underneath the seat. So for example, as you can see this one right here, sits underneath. And so when I have a passenger sitting in this seat for example, and then I start driving off, and then they're trying to put on the seat belt Uhh, let me try that again I guess they would...

You know...I don't know but some people actually say that they have trouble Well, not people but people in my car specifically said that they've actually had trouble trying to put their seatbelt on, and when the seatbelt alarm starts ringing and they're like trying to push it in They said sometimes this thing would sit underneath the seat. And then they can't, they can't really buckle in the seatbelt.

But actually let me give it a try myself. Please stay...please...please? Let's say for example I am a passenger right here. You know, maybe I'm just lying :D But yea anyways, I actually just wished that Lucid could tone it down just a bit cause it screams at your ears I'm not saying to completely remove it but at least give us the option to turn down the volume But then again, maybe that's just me being picky. Maybe people, owners don't even care about the sound.

But that actually reminds me of the second thing that I wished this car had, was Customization. So, I'm sure everyone is aware of this massive (where's my finger) massive 34 inch, 5k display as well as your pilot panel. Stuff like that. But this is a lot of unused space Actually, um so for example what I mean by "Customization" is Well, Lucid. I want Lucid to allow us to customize No Lucid, not you. Okay, thank god. Um, so actually

I wish you can customize where certain buttons go. Like imagine if I could swap these buttons over here. And move these over here. Just for example

That's probably hideous but I wished you had the option to control where you want these certain things to be. And like imagine if I wanted the trunk button to be here instead of the frunk, you know? Like that kind of stuff. You don't have to, I just want the OPTION to. If that makes sense. Right? Yes? No? Does that make sense? Cause honestly, If I had the option to, I would totally replace this Air logo with Energy graphs...yea energy graphs.

Or shoot, I would like put it right here in this corner. For those people who use Apple CarPlay I'm sure you guys noticed there's a lot of unused space right here. I wished Carplay, even though I don't use Carplay So I'm excited for Android Auto coming in, theoretically next month. I just wished they actually used 100% of the screen.

Or not 100%, but like...well... 100% of this side of the screen excluding this portion because that's where the tabs are, or I don't know what to call them but yea. I wished Lucid gave us the option to customize whatever we want for these screens, you know? I mean, I know it makes sense to not because well you have Standardization, and um let's say for example, you bring your Lucid to a service center for something, I don't know and then all your buttons are scrambled... If I was a service technician (I can't speak today) I'd be kind of pissed, but then you have a solution to just put it into Service Mode and Service Mode will bring all the buttons back to default.

You know? There you go. That's a solution Lucid You know, maybe I should work for you guys. Nah, I'm joking. Back outside to this car. I want to talk about...

What was I going to talk about again? OH! New Lucid (Air) Owners. Actually, new potential owners. I want you to double check this very important thing because I totally forgot to mention it in the last video If you are getting 19 or 20 inch wheels but when you are in the delivery center you do not accept the delivery unless you remove the plastic Aero Caps and check out this surface rust infested rotor hub. I think that's what it's called. There's your rotor, there's the rotor hub, right? I don't know. Someone please correct me. But yea, double check for the rotor hubs because I got a bunch of surface rust on it It looks absolutely horrendous I mean of course the wheels... well...

I don't know about the 19' wheels I'm sorry, the 19' wheels are They didn't do that bad, but they could've done better. Does that make sense? They could've done absolutely better with those 19' wheels. And I'm a fan of range and efficiency, so that's why I went for the 19' wheels because I didn't want what, a minus 50-60 miles of my capacity cause what, 80% of that is significantly less than 80% of what the range gives me out of my 19' wheels. So yea. New owners, or new potential owners

just double check for those. I'm not sure about the 21' wheels. I'm not sure if they clean that but yea, whatever wheel you get, double check I got them on all four, unfortunately. And I didn't check that and I accepted delivery. And so when I asked them about that, I inquired about them cleaning it They said I would have to pay (since I did not point it out) So make sure you mention the surface rust, if applicable to your delivery advisor before accepting delivery.

Working my way back outside of the car. Let me show you guys something actually. So, I finally came equipped with no more garbage bags. Okay, I have garbage bagsm, but underneath here is actually the official Lucid trunk well all-weather floor mat. You know, I'm going to show you guys the frunk because the frunk doesn't have any garbage bags. Now the reason why I have garbage bags is because I want to protect, I know it might sound controversial or ridiculous but I like to keep things clean.

Let me show you the frunk actually. Now one thing I want to mention the reason why I'm showing you guys this is because of the I kind of like it, but at the same time I don't really like it, and let me show you guys why. So first of all These things (frunk well mat) aren't fitting 100% so obviously you can see that right off the bat. I know they're plastic injection molded and stuff like that but I wished they just kept the tolerances kind of tighter. Because when I was installing this, it actually ate up so much room, like I know it's suppose to be all-weather and stuff like that and it's suppose to be thick, but I'm like, why does it have to be SO thick? Because I remember I could fit a whole ...

I don't know what size suitcase it was, but it actually fit perfectly in here. But then now with this thing, I can't even fit it. So, yea I don't know what happened. I'm honestly considering about removing it. I don't know if anyone (owners) would take it. But yea, I just wished they actually kept the tolerances tighter and maybe made the sidewall thinner, becasue you don't really need the sidewall to be thicker. Are you going to have a gallon of milk in here, and pour the milk out of the gallon? But, I don't know if that makes sense.

I don't think the sidewalls need to be that thick. And of course fix the tolerances because this is honestly unnacceptable in my eyes. This is actually the...what is that called... hello? The uhh...bag for the (canopy) sunshades. There you go, so I'll be... I guess I'll show you guys me removing it.

So yea, let me get back in the car. You know, there's also one thing that I also want to talk about and it's in regard to the screens actually, so if you guys don't constantly wipe your screens you know how dusty it'll be right? It'll be super dusty, and there's going to be fingerprints everywhere I wished Lucid gave the option to install ... dude can you stop listening to me...car Okay anyways...the (Lucid) Assistant came on... I wished they gave us the option to have a preinstalled ...okay I don't know how to remove this... actually, yea I do...

a preinstalled screen protector. Like, it doesn't...arhhh... I might get a lot of hate, cause I typically like tempered glass screen protectors. But I don't see any need for tempered glass screen protectors for this car besides the pilot panel.

But dude, a fingerprint resistant screen protector like even a film, I'll be happy for all these screens. I think I would appreciate that. Or it doesn't even have to be preinstalled, but I know there's third party screen protectors out there, but I don't know, I just can't seem to wrap my... head around third party... stuff What in the world happened here? Alright I got to ask service about this or maybe I'll just prop it back in later on my own time (I did lol) Okay... Maybe I should keep my sunshades back on But yea, I wished...

like I know some people might call me ridiculous for requesting something like that but that's why I typically say: "to give us the option to" because I know maybe not everyone would want one but at least give us the option to, you know? I don't know, make a little extra money, I guess Lucid, they really need it. But anyways the screens actually get super dusty like literally, I wipe it clean with a microfiber towel and then a week later, dude it gets super dusty, and I'm like "aw man" I hate cleaning this stuff. But yea, at least give us the option (for preinstalled protectors) And not only that, dude who ever approved of these chrome buttons I don't know if you Lucid owners experienced it, but if the sun is like 12 o'clock or like directly above you, right? The sun (light) will actually reflect off these things and like flashbang your eyes you know.

And I wished they made these anything but chrome. Yea it looks nice, but I don't know about practicality because that thing is SHINING Aww man I hate that what in the world dude that looks filthy I definitely can't wait to wash this car after I am done with this video Geez man, it looks horrendous. But yea, dust actually accumulates in this car so fast Like I don't know if it's just me or my clothes...I do my laundry, I know that for sure. But I'm just like man, I literally wiped all the screens even this screen, this small screen back here I'm like man it's so dusty all the damn time What am I doing? Oh I got take that out I don't know how to prop you up... I'll just speak to you guys like this.

I'll just speak to you guys like this. Alright, uhh It gets so dusty in here, I don't know about uhh, other owners? I don't know if you guys have super dusty cars or not but from where I'm living, I swear it's the environment Whenever I open my doors, it just gets so dusty for no reason Alright this is it. There is the big screen. There is a lot of light coming in here OHH that's what I need to tell you guys about.

I need to talk to you guys about tint. Because...I'm sorry guys, I'm out of breath. Let me take this off Tint probably is the most important thing of any car, all cars? I guess. You can say Do not get... anything higher than 35% I should say. So before, the first time I tinted this car, uhh I got 50% all around (excluding windshield) And after a year of ownership, I removed it and I actually documented myself removing it and it honestly looks ridiculous...uhh I'm not sure if you guys even want to see it but I guess I'll just play it for you guys right now.

First, I got a bunch of garbage bags, I did the garbage bag technique essentially. If you guys don't know what that is, I suggest you guys to look into it. If you are interested in removing tint Just a quick Youtube search I didn't follow any specific link, or video I just put a bunch of black garbage bags around the window, sprayed it down with some water and then after letting it sun bathe for like 10 minutes I guess, in direct sunlight during summer so, it was like 110 degrees (Fahrenheit) I believe when I was doing it, outdoors.

So yea it was miserable but it actually did the job quite well. So yea I removed my 50% tint all around excluding the windshield I did not tint my windshield...but I should and after I removed the 50% tint, I went to I moved forward to 20% all around And I have the sunshades in the rear, so I was considering 5%, but I was like, you know 5% is a little too dark for me. It's not that I can't see but it's just like at nighttime, dude you can't see ANYTHING with 5%.

and trust me, I've been in cars with 5% and let me tell you, I can't see anything at night. Definitely, if you're about to buy a Lucid, please tint your cars with Ceramic, and nothing higher than 35% for... okay...how should I say this...

You know what? Nevermind, just nothing more than 35%. I'll let you guys interpret that however you like. Alright, so now there's a lot of light coming in now that I don't have the canopy sunshades anymore Of course I have the convenience package so obviously, that's why I said I did not go 5% in the rear, because the shades will make it look like it's already 5% and plus you can, I don't know, people can see more things out the window, I don't know, I don't know what I'm saying anymore.

But yea, dude...that...EWW And boom look at that, it's now nighttime Nah I'm joking, I'm just in the bottom floor But yea, I want to talk about the ambient lighting actually. Some people preferred if it was RGB capable.

I kind of agree, but then again, I'm like they have themes, right? Like their three color themes, the Santa Cruz, the Mojave and the (Tahoe). I forgot what the third one was, but yea I actually like it. I'm not sure if the (Lucid Air) Pures can choose a color but I know this might sound ridiculous, but there's literally three colors in this car. You got that red, then you got this blue then you have another shade of blue I guess a lighter blue, then you have a lighter lighter blue I guess kind of like a, I'm not sure if it's teal? And then you have grey. Well, you have another color which is OFF.

But I don't know, I actually really like the ambient lighting. So good job Lucid! (I find it very sophisicated) Oh wait a minute I lied, we have sand. I don't even know if you guys can see that but, it looks I don't know, it's like tan, you know? I honestly like to swap between Wonder which is red, and this Inspire, which is the blue... Oh look at that...

I didn't even know they had a transition, wow. You learn something everyday huh? But yea, those are basically my two main colors that I like Speaking about lighting, let's take a look outside, let me turn on my (head) lights. Let me get my phone.

The lighting is really incredible So if you guys don't really know they have their signature aggressive look with their extremely bright headlights. I'm not sure if you guys have watched EngineeringExplained's Video (Link in Description!) about the Lucid Air but as you know, these are multi-modular... okay, you guys can't even see anything so let me go back and turn off... well, let me show you guys the tail lights I mean I guess it's just a singular light bar Oh my goodness I am showing my license plate I'll go edit that out.

Uhh, going to go turn these off. BOOP And then, these are multi-modular headlight assembly. So as you turn your steering wheel one way, these light modules which actually point in many different directions these ones on the very edge which point out to... bruh why am I pointing with my camera... I need to point with my finger...

and come out in different angles actually light up which makes it more uniform brightness as you turn the wheel. Which brightens up the direction that you're turning. So, really impressive (basically the headlights can "move") and I guess, let me show you guys the light show.

For whenever you lock or unlock this vehicle So here's the app...ah I guess I'll go into the app after this. So if you lock. It's taking a while to lock or maybe...okay there you go.

And then if you walk up to your vehicle... If you walk up...there you go, the light show I mean I guess it's kind of a light show. Super cool Kind of makes a signature Lucid entrance. Same thing for the (tail lights). Oh wait my license plate, I hate showing my license plate.

Signature look for the Lucid. Very impressive. You know, and since we have the app out, actually, remember what I said last video about preconditioning your "battery" on the app? There it is boys. Did I influence something? Or did they just "coincidentally" add it? But yea, unfortunately Samsung/Android users, the UI has not been updated because IPhones' UI for the mobile app got significant upgrades or updates, where it looks better, it's more responsive so I actually asked Eric Bach when I went to one of their events in Newark, CA and he said it will be coming out for Android sometime when the Gravity releases. So hopefully next month. When Android Auto is also suppose to come out as well. We will get the UI update for Samsung/Android.

I guess I haven't really talked about my impressions when driving. Otherwise...well overall Really good driving experience when driving... (the car shut off lol) Uhhhhh... What in the world just happened? Oh my bluetooth is off.

There you go. So if you use the mobile app, please make sure your bluetooth is on. There you go. So as you can see, almost 15k miles. The driving experience is incredible especially for its weight, what it's like 5,000 lbs. Yea this big, heavy boat essencially drives like a super car. Suspension is incredible, traction you'll never have to worry about.

One thing that I am very nit picky about Is this really fat (A) pillar. Not going to lie, when you're driving at night and then you come to an intersection there was literally a person walking the cross-walk, and this pillar literally blocked him. So I was driving right? And I am facing this way. I look left, there's no one there. But then I remember in my peripheral vision, thank god I saw a backpack, just right here, like a bright orange backpack, like at midnight right? It was super dark and I didn't see him. And then I look to the right, and then I was like wait a minute. I took a double take, and literally

his head came out like right here. So this pillar actually obscures your vision. So yea these two (A-pillars), they're actually fat. Really really fat, so you kind of have to get accustomed to it Typically what I like to do, I mean obviously all drivers should be doing this as a defensive driver. You look left, I look around the pillar. The other side too, I like to look around it Double take, double take I know I sound like a super safe driver but this thing can literally murder someone in a second so better to be safe than sorry.

Trying to keep this video short, I think that honestly wraps it up. Long story short, I mean there hasn't been any major updates to the software, besides all those things but I'm sure you guys are aware of it. super super fun vehicle to drive if you're literally considering it. If you are coming from Tesla, if you're

coming from, I don't know, ID4, EV6, MachE. Definitely a vehicle to have fun with Definitely impressive too like, you crack people's necks all the time they're like: "OO a Lucid" you know? But yea, I know their current state right now as a company is not the best, but definitely a fun vehicle to drive. Their vehicles are great, their technology is great. But obviously, I don't believe Engineers can run businesses. So yea, long story short, let me flip the camera... Long story short, MVP vehicle right here I guess, the Lucid Air.

Super fun sedan to drive around. The software is basically improving very slowly. Both for the mobile app and inside the vehicle itself.

For all cars aross 2022-2024. Obviously I'm sure the news has reached everyone by now that 2025 has the brand new chip for their ECU. Which makes everything more snappy inside, but honestly I'm not even sure if the upgrade, If applicable, is worth it So, of course you can retrofit the new (chip not ECU) from 2025 models into your previous generations but honestly, the software updates is honestly making the software inside the car itself very compatible with the hardware. So it's getting more snappy lots of improvement. Obviously this car is a head turner so you really wished you had sentry mode.

But I guess we'll just have to wait on that. I guess that basically wraps the car up. I definitely need to wash my car because holy cow.

It's like covered in disgust So yea, if you have any comments, questions, or any concerns. Actually, before that ... Let me show you guys one more thing... about your dream drive premium or pro...

with the 360 cameras. Obviously, I wished they fixed this. Because...well you can't really see it, but

We're basically on a 2D plane. So if you parked next to a car, it would be extremely distorted. In fact, actually let me show you guys. So right now, I am parked next to a Toytoa Sienna... That does NOT look like a Toytoa Sienna to me. It's very distorted so honestly, if Lucid can just fix...

well not fix but IMPROVE, I guess then yea...there's a...I don't know, I don't care but They honestly just need to improve small stuff but otherwise, this car is really really good. Well, hardware wise, I guess and suspension, performance and stuff like that. But yea I just really wished they speed? I don't want to be rushy But speed things up, and also let me show you guys... so right here, it looks like I just crashed into this thing right? But, in reality of course they want to be safe, I get that I get that, I appreciate that, but what, it said i had like I had zero inches left (it didn't lol) Bruh, I got like a whole foot (left of space). And the only reason why I mention this Man not going to lie dude, this thing is fat.

Alright, so I'm pretty sure you guys noticed the reason why I call this car fatahh actually, I got to censor that, fat-A is because look at this. This thing sticks out like crazy. You will always find your own car because either your butt , or your face is basically sticking out. from anywhere (parking spaces). You know? It probably has a longer wheelbase than that. I'm just joking, they're probably the same. But yea this car is pretty fat and I wished they actually loosened the tolerance a bit. I know they're playing safe but, maybe like

another 6 inches, you know?. (To park more inwards and prevent sticking out). Speaking of DDPro, actually. well I have DDPro, so for all those other people. All you other owners who have DDPro, Highway Assist. They actually just made a new update where it can do automatic lane change(s), ... or it can monitor up to three lanes so very impressive. I actually recorded

a clip of me driving using Highway Assist actually, it was before the update unfortunately, but, what I am talking about is not even about the new update, it's about "combating" I guess, you can say, combating against the requirement for you to hold the steering wheel while on Highway Assist, so let me run the clip, and I actually figured out that if you keep a single amount of weight in the corner of the steering wheel, you will no longer be prompted to hold the steering wheel. Because I think some people (from the Lucid Forum) actually figured it out that it's not a touch sensitive steering wheel, it's more of a haptick steering wheel and so, you will be required to to either nudge it, move it, try to rotate against the Highway Assist and that's how they know you're still alive basically. And so what I figured out is that if you put one hand (or finger) in the corner of the steering wheel and overlap your other hand on top if it, then it will be pretty much good to go. (Enough weight registered on the wheel to prevent prompt).

As you guys could probably tell by the clip, as I am driving, or just holding the steering wheel I am no longer prompted by the DDPro to hold the steering wheel anymore. So I hope some people find that useful I don't know, I found that useful for me because after long days at work, I definitely needed it since this car does not have full self driving. And I don't really mind that it doesn't have FSD because I enjoy driving this car, like myself personally driving my car myself. But some days, some days are more rough than others so. So yea, I hope you guys found that to be useful.

Use that information any way you like, but yea That's kind of a loop around the Highway Assist steering wheel "holding" requirement. I think it's time for me to go home. It's wayy too windy. Well, give this car a wash I think, but yea, leave in the comments any questions, concerns or shoot if you even want my referral code I'll leave it down in the description. And uhh...let's see if there's anything else I want to talk about.

Before I leave. No I think that's it. So yea, thanks for watching! PEACE :) You know, there was one thing that I forgot to mention about the driving. And I'm recording recording right now while I'm on the way home.

Regen braking! There you go. Dude, it's kind of crazy...underrated actually how the regen braking in this car is probably best ever. You know? Like, when you're driving in smooth mode, it's not too harsh it's subtle, you know? But it brakes you enough so that you don't ever have to use your friction brakes. But they do it in a lowkey and subtle way I don't know how to explain it but it's crazy.

:D Yea that's it. Oh yea and uhh when you put it in Sprint Mode, yea it goes crazy.
