Uh design in the micro and nano scales and nanotechnology micron micro robotics for drug delivery, micro robotics for solving issues and vessels, and cleaning vessels inside the body. Nano technologies for new material development or for environmental reasons. These are disciplines that cross the boundaries between material sciences, chemistry, Belgium, and physics and engineering and these are emerging trends of the future. imports of biological sciences whether it's in areas like biotics which is going to see us whether it's the area of environmental hazards jointly with the environmental sciences, whether it's the area of biomedical engineering, uh you know, in the area of you know, qualitative physiology and anatomy and for thesis jointly with robotics but biological sciences is becoming crucial. Uh look at what happened in the pandemic and the incredible amount of power that was used in order to develop the vaccine and with the modeling, you know, out of your comfort zone and learning, you know, new disciplines. So, you can be

working in a needed area in the future, right? And all of the disciplines in the future and jobs are going to be by definition interdisciplinary but there are other skills because everything is going to be skilled based going on going forward, not only credential based uh team skills are very important Presentation skills are very very important. Writing skills are very important. Being an entrepreneur and innovative is incredibly important in the future because 7080 percent of these jobs of the future are not going to be working for a large corporation. It's going to be working for a startup or a small company and and actually They're sending you know how to, what is the interface between the research and innovation and business understanding that global context of the problem you're solving whether it's something like a reverse engineering, the plane, or even something as simple as clean water. That's

actually a technology problem by the way. It's a global challenge, clean water, believe it or not, in the year 2021 uh uh UP for example, uh This I think is what I'm trying to explain. This is the classroom. of the future. right There is no more classical, you know, uh table and uh screen or whatever and and somebody lecturing. It's all about prototyping, building things together, having themes from different oncologists, working on the same project. Uh I have

a project that Lawrence Stack uh mascot to know and for the sports team, there is a mascot so I'm trying to develop a robotic passcode to the uh uh help the image of what it is right uh but I want to include all the disciplines, You know, not only the robotics and engineering and health sciences but I wanted it to be futuristic, right? So, I have, I have a class. There is a class, it's a drawing class between uh the School of design and architecture, a school of engineering and for you know, that work and the school of arts and sciences and they're working together. They've been working for a year making and designing a prototyping, amazing structures and things to come up with something as simple as a mask but again, that exercise by is incredibly helpful. They learn so many

things from each other and these are fresh basils, 18 year olds by the way, uh uh uh learning center and a new building. Again, this is the class of the future, right? You'll see robots. you see prototypes. you see

demonstration areas you see collaborative workplaces making places and and and and and and so on. Um again, uh new programs should be outcome based, not credential or pickering in the past utilizing outstanding and unique human technology resources. uh traditional degrees, uh versus interdisciplinary degrees. What

what does that really mean? We need to be a specialist in one area for sure. right? But again, we have to be also training our students and us as professionals to be genres who are familiar with so many different areas and are willing to learn more to incorporate more of these areas if we are working on an interdisciplinary project here good. Uh these are you know, uh discussions. I think uh yeah, this is this is really I think um uh what what what what the discussions we've been through Uh this gentleman is one of the people that I respect very much. He used to be the chief

operating officer of the uh National Science Foundation. Uh he also used to be the the dean of my uh of my college that I graduated from the USC school at the uh so If you change, you see here, the example is future and right. That's what I want. I think you can cross the world engineers and write future professionals because all of things I like the statistics, they actually apply to to both. No, seriously and you know, it doesn't matter what the field is. We need the person to be a holistic designer. Whatever. we

graduate as a professional, whether it's a physician, whether it's a physical therapist, whether it's a, you know, an engineer, a computer scientist, a design that I'm not like they have to be a makers. They have to be a trusted innovator. They have to avoid harming designs. They have to be a change agent to think out of the box. They have to be able to integrate different technologies and materials, right? And we created the industry and we created the world that poured on. Well, it's a it's an

interesting story and for an engineer, it's a very good story but maybe not but not to rebuild society. teamwork, and how to do things effectively and efficiently and uh infrastructures, communication of course, on the ability of god and you know, Well, you will take We will study courses from chemistry and biology and her design in the school of architecture and technology management in the school of business and you know, for reduced fees and recycle to become uh an expert in green energies. urban and the list goes on, right? I think you got the idea, right? The idea that it's all about the degree anymore or the research area, It's about the skills and what the industry needs and these are great examples.
