What It's Like to Travel to Turkey During the Pandemic
[Music] so [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] me [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] right [Applause] ah [Applause] foreign [Music] yeah i guess it's here [Music] oh we're in istanbul uh the capital of turkey it's pretty exciting because we haven't traveled in a year and a half now a very long time it was a very long trip yesterday we left the house at eight a.m and we only arrived here at 10 pm local time it's very interesting to travel during covet times russian airplane restrictions don't apply apparently so that made me a bit more conscious about travel the first thing that i noticed about istanbul is how loud the people are here in the northern parts of russia or in denmark people generally don't show their emotions and they don't talk loudly uh generally when they're outside on the public transport it's the opposite here in istanbul and turkey for many people here we've seen that they can just facetime somebody and talk loudly on the phone interesting everybody absolutely everybody even outside is wearing face masks you're not obliged to wear face masks when you're outside in moscow so we're a bit surprised by that but then we met up with our friend sharif and he gave us his old phone business phone for uh personal hotspots so we can have internet and he told us that if we don't wear a mask outside we're gonna get find 900 turkish lira we don't really have plans for istanbul we have somewhat of a plan we think we know what we want to do like while laying in bed i sign up for an excursion because i know nothing about the city i think if we're staying here for seven days i'm supposed to know a little bit so that we're gonna be doing tomorrow today we again our friend sheriff you told us that there is this nice little hipster area that has nice coffee and we're gonna go there have some breakfast and figure out what to do with our time [Music] it's 11am we still haven't found a practiced breakfast place it's a bit surprising how a bakery still hasn't opened at 11. [Music] i finally had breakfast there was glass in marina smoothie which was fun now we're gonna we're gonna be doing a little bit of grocery shopping we're gonna go to the apple store because marina needs to fix her airpods and we're just gonna go with whatever comes up [Music] so [Applause] you [Music] so [Music] hmm [Music] bon appetit [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] um day two in istanbul uh i had a terrible stomachache yesterday already though i started having a toothache and we're just like half dead laying at home no woke up my both seemed to feel better and um brew it's 9am at 10 30 we have our excursion around the city other than that yesterday we didn't manage to get to the apple store because we have to sign up and we didn't do that beforehand postponing that i should probably still be owning i'm gonna make a cup of coffee and i'm gonna head out [Music] more facts from istanbul istanbul doesn't have the same european kind of bakery culture and they don't have the same cheeses so the majority of the cheeses here are like salty mediterranean ones and the bread it's very spongy uh it's not very crisp well those are the ones we've come across at least in the two days we're here not european but again turkey isn't europe at all foreign [Music] so [Music] we're done with the excursion um learned a lot saw a pair of green falcon some parakeets and now we're going on a tram back and forth because there are no english announcements and apparently the trams don't go one way round we have to switch marina ordered a small dude [Music] that's our bestest turkish friend that is lamb intestines yes lamb [Music] intestines [Music] [Music] oh my god this city is so hilly it reminds me of bangor in wales [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's quite ridiculous that you have to wear a mask even when you're walking around in a park so we're in the oldest park right now doing a little bit of birding we found two square three squirrels so far and some rose ringed parakeets [Music] [Applause] [Music] box [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] bye [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] yes [Music] [Music] now [Music] now [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] when i was i'm not at the metro station we're on our way back to moscow i've missed out on a few days of talking to the camera i'm waiting for marina to return from the atm because apparently you're supposed to have cash in you at all times strange and i can't pay by card for my public transport so yeah i hope we're gonna make it to the [Music] planet [Music] in the heat of your skin [Music] just [Music] we're home [Music] we could slip away towards the scene [Music]
