all right so today I'm here at the Wai Estuary the scenic Reserve I'll be doing the W ey track Estuary link track and I'll be taking along the Sony zv1 and the 70 to 200 macro G OSS Mark I now usually I don't take out a camera like this I don't take out the zv1 body for nature photography or video but I'm kind of curious to see if the autofocus and the AI autofocus for birds and animals make up for not having an evf on top and then also I'm kind of curious to see what sort of um heating or overheating might happen I primarily film at 4K 120p so we'll see if the camera overheats or if it doesn't it's kind of cool today so hopefully it doesn't but let's go and see right just get this going go let kep here we are [Applause] you can see some of the birds you can expect to see along this truck some of the birds and animals the Flora and Fauna all right let's go oh [Laughter] he [Music] so right when I enter a lot of activity this morning it's uh the end of summer here in New Zealand and it's a bit overcast little bit colder starting to get a bit colder but uh a lot of birds out today now I'm primarily shooting at 200 um so I'll keep the line set at 200 and I'm using 4K 120p 10 bit 422 using the Sone profile and I have Bird and Animal I detect on some birds up [Applause] here so for me 200 is a bit limine feel like out here 4 100 would be better so I'm debating whether to add a two times telecon converter to the lens we go [Applause] of course course with the two times telecon converter you'll be at f8 which isn't too bad so you're looking at uh ISO and this sort of weather at around I don't know 500 400 [Music] you get these swallows that fly around too but they're really hard to capture they fly really fast and they fly right at you like that here's another one ah no if you haven't seen my last video on this area check that out it's the par umu Beach overview video and I talked about this area but uh this shorebird that just went under here try to capture him when he comes back [Music] up there he is oh over there all right so I see some birds in the distance the water line I'll try to make my way over there f and yeah 200 you're not getting too close the birds start to kind of move away as you approach I'm sure I could be a bit more sneaky but there isn't really much cover on the beach front here so I want to get close to this guy here but I don't know if I can see if I get up to this log right here might not mind all right so far I'm not getting any overheating issues at least I don't think the body doesn't feel too hot it is overcast and cool it's probably in the 60s uh degrees fenhe so not too bad today yeah they definitely don't like when I approach they kind of fly off they don't fly too far away they just kind of maintain a similar distance I think that sound is there warning sound all right I'm going to make my way back over to the trail let see if I can capture some other birds here we go let's rock it's kind of neat log here has some a plant growing out of it oh now they've seen me okay get that closer oh gosh all right it didn't work so right across here you can see this is the Wai River where it comes out and across right there is Wai I have a video on W I just checking out the beach not nature photography but just an overview of that area check it out if you'd like all right let's try to find the main trail again very spiky blackberry vines this area think I see a puko try to give it different angle looks like this is where probably the nest is so you get these or uh their Nursery Web spiders make their webs like this and let's see if we can get don't see anything moving in it though probably more in night here some ducks right here I definitely brought the wrong shoes do a hike through this brush it's a little bit closer oh that's kind of neat some uh shags on the branch right there see what we can do here and all right try to make my way back through here definitely helping to pollinate a lot of the grasses around here seems all right so far the zv1 has been really good with the longer lens I thought I might have trouble and I have had a little bit of trouble not having a viewfinder especially for flying birds it's kind of hard to aim and acquire the birds but I can kind of do it it's not too big of a issue and on a day like this where it's overcast it's not too bad in terms of seeing the screen maybe on a really bright sunny day might have trouble the autofocus on birds is pretty good it does lose autofocus when there are kind of branches or if you're not close enough then I noticed it'll lose focus but with that I have these buttons up here turned to uh switch to manual so I just hit it and start manual focus seene with the dial and then I also have focus peeking on so I know what I'm focused on using the screen one advantage of a viewfinder is you do have a bit more stability when you bring it up to your eye and also you can kind of Judge focus a bit more so it's starting to drizzle a bit so I think I'm going to head back now oh here we go oh missed it little chick I think it was a chick of a rednecked pheasant two chicks cute little birds oh look at these rain clouds comeing in some sort of storm it's crazy looking all right so I'm going to head back to my car overall what did you think would you use the zv E1 with the long lens like this I'd say it's really light easy to carry around and uh also it's super stable since it is so light it has OSS I'm thinking two times telecon converter might be nice just to get get that 400 reach and still keep this kind of light compact setup and the zv one has been pretty good no overheating today um you can see the battery has dropped as in the '90s it's down to 42% I would see these guys around all right that's it for this episode if you like that video or if you like this content think about subscribing if you're already oh king fisher oh man oh perfect shot too he's sitting right on this Branch here and I haven't seen a king fisher for quite a while so that's pretty awesome oh man where' he fly to oh there he is he's right on that Branch I can't get closer he's right in the marsh area all right so if you like this content please think about subscribing and if you are already thank you keep an eye out for the next episode I'm going to be coming back here and I'll bring along the zv E1 with the 70 to 200 lens uh so far overall I like this combo it's pretty nice I haven't had any issues filming 4K 120p and having it overheat it is getting a bit warm but nothing too bad no shut down or overheating issue so um yeah all right I'll see you in the next video bye
