welcome back we're on to Dridgers if you're new here we're a full-time travel couple from the UK we're currently in Chongqing and today we're going to be talking about China's infrastructure so China is so far in the future compared to the rest of the world but today we have exclusive access to two brand new projects going on here in Chongqing the world's largest city so we've been given access to two projects both have not even opened yet and one of them the one we're going to see last has not even been seen by the media so it's pretty exciting we're just waiting for a DiDi now yeah go on nihali nood this is really weird arriving at the airport but not actually flying it's mad yeah this way Ben it's no better by now all right no luggage to get out or nothing all right we got to find the guys now and this is another strange thing i was thinking then we're going to go and film the airport like you're not really meant to film airports like it's a bit of one of them things like don't make it obvious and especially people say China's so secretive and all that it's easiest country we've ever filmed in and we get exclusive access to go and film inside an airport how like actual mentals that are that's the thing with China they are like like Rian said they're they're literally the most relaxed people when it comes to vlogging so if you are a vlogger fill your boots well they just want to show you how they're developing how advanced they are how kind of better they are than other countries okay we are just entering terminal 3 this is a brand new terminal they So they've built a fourth runway this is the third airport in China with a fourth runway let's put this into perspective the busiest airport well one of the busiest airports in the world in my home home country is London Heathro only has two runways this has four and it is the third in China which is absolutely unbelievable so we just went through that security check there it's all like automated so it automatically register your boarding pass and it knows exactly who is putting what through security which is I've never seen anything like it so this is a state-of-the-art airport so look at it now like it's not even finished you can see like pictures on the wall not done yeah also me and Rian was saying about Chongqing where they're building this extra runway it's going to pretty much double the capacity so there's going to be international flights coming in here all the time so there's going to be 80 million people passing through this airport each year which is obviously good for us because we can get a good cheap flight straight here to Chongqing which is at the moment we've said it already it's our favorite city in China so originally we we always used to go to Beijing Shanghai and then travel down by land but the problem with Beijing and Shanghai they're great cities we love them but they are a little bit more expensive i've noticed that they've gone for like a black and white kind of sketching scene everywhere that's kind of obviously the theme keeping it all black and white quite um modern and neutral like not too bright or colors it's really nice and really slick i'm guessing we're waiting for the train look there's still like scaffold and workmen going on like it's still a bit of work going on um we will confirm the opening date i think it's like not long like a week maybe but we'll confirm and they were saying they're not sure on the date for this though to get from terminals when it this they're not sure about but everything else um well if you look around it looks like they're putting the finishing touches here you have obviously like there you have still got builders here but they are literally doing nothing all right the train is just coming you can see on the board up there it's just the Royan so we're going to be the first passengers on the train i assume so here you go i can see it coming you know we love a bit of Chinese transport oh there's actually people on there yeah don't know who they are workers oh maybe they're fans they are uh they're all workmen they all got um neck things on so obviously like Yeah officials officials yeah officials like us like us yeah this is a fully automated train so obviously there's no drivers there's a Yes so this is done all on I assume all done AI so yeah very clever so this is a Montreal rapid transit system this takes you between one terminal to the next terminal in literally in minutes this is this is the fastest of its kind that I've seen this is the fastest one I've ever been on because it's Yeah it's real fast this is how advanced China is so normally on a train you've just got windows their windows are actually screens they have the option of turning it on and off look at brand new terminal here also it has four different levels so it has a basement level level one which is the apron level level two the arrivals station level three the departure and level four is the commercial but we're just um stopping and getting off hopefully Alex is still here cuz we actually went on the train back cuz we didn't realize everyone got off yeah he was talking to the camera and we thought "Oh he's not going to get off." And then last second he jumped off i don't know where they are i'll see you later this way we're going this way ah they're there they're still here hey guys how are you i didn't know where you went so we've just been told that each train cost 8 million R&B so pretty expensive for a couple of trains but cuz you can only imagine what this whole airport cost it's a multi-billion dollar project wo look at this wow look how high up it is that looks like a starry sky this is probably China's next spaceship you know what I mean every every airport every train station every bit of infrastructure here in China is like a spaceship and this is their new spaceship so escalators aren't running at that moment so I have to walk up more a little bit not fit but wo that is cool it's breathtaking when you sit here oh is that like um what's the bed the fire one phoenix phoenix yeah it is a phoenix so it looks like So we are actually in the moment of truth the actual terminal the brand new terminal so this terminal is totally eco-friendly the glass at the top is thermo dimming glass it adjusts to the temperature outside reducing air conditioning consumption and enhancing energy efficiency i will say have you ever been in an airport obviously I know the answer because I'm always with you but have you ever been in an airport that's empty like this i know it's crazy and just letting us loose with a camera is it's really like surreal yeah but Leo Ri have you ever done this at an airport so as I was saying the construction on this building first started May 2021 and it is now 2025 and it's literally open in a few days so today's the 31st and opens on the 9th of April the mayor is coming here so we'll probably be releasing it the day after as we're not allowed to show some of it until the mayor's opened it and he's opened it to the world to you guys first of all billion R&B but that's just for the structure so it's not for the like little things like the trains inside and all the other technology going on so I can't imagine it's billions just to build this but imagine the income this is going to bring to Chongqing and change the tourist industry definitely for them and bring such a wide opportunity as you know China is really well known for exports and so this will help me and as we say this has got four runways not many airports got that so imagine what this airport can do so we've got like Tim Hort in there loads of food vendors i'm guessing these are all open for staff that are working here at the moment we've even got McDonald's around there you see how cool this is though oh wow look at that but as you can see they're like testing out announcements they've got screens with floats on it so they're pretty much ready they've got like a few cleaning up and few few adjustments to do other than that I think they're quite ready look at the garden wow i'm definitely asking to go on the slide oh it's closed off close closed yeah so we're going to check out the top i'm going to assume it links to something fun oh feel I've done enough stairs today that's a problem when you go to airport you do a lot of walking problem when you go to an airport that's not open that all the escalators are not working as well yeah and extra wow you're joking me people can come out here well so they're still like um working on it as you can see can you smoke oh yeah there you go you can smoke so my my my father-in-law is a smoker the biggest thing that does his head in right is when he travels he can't smoke for a good 16 hours sometimes so this airport cuz obviously China are big on smoking anyway but they can come out here enjoy the fresh air and have you know the thing is is that you China thinks of all angles here the digital nomad what do we always need at airports we need power stations power charging Wi-Fi all these things and in other airports it's pay this pay that pay this pay that here they want to build the market they want to make it easy for people to travel okay so you got the airports and then Of course here we have this little I guess it's going to be a designated smoking area and it's kind of strange to actually be outside of an airport terminal looking at another airport terminal but we're outside but we're technically inside we're so used to as humans being capted in you know caught inside of airport terminals that this is the first time that for me I was shocked when I walked out the door saying "You can come out on the patio." Yeah i think what we what we forget in the in the West is everyone's different and everyone's got freedom so So if you're a smoker you should be allowed to smoke in a designated area right and if you're not a smoker you should be able to go somewhere where people don't smoke whereas we have right no smoking you can't smoke here and you can't smoke until you're literally in your destination outside the terminal and then you're like relief i'm not I'm not even a smoker but I'm just saying let people be people have a bit of freedom we're seeing it right here and China are doing it not only can you come up here just to get some fresh air you have such a cool view so this will be where all the airplanes um depart to pick you all up look at it how cool is this outside area like we're It feels like we're just walking along sort of out in a city in a street or something i haven't seen this inside at an airport ever also I'm going to guess cuz it looks like it's entrance to McDonald's there they might have like seats now so in the summer you can actually enjoy enjoy the weather yeah not be cooped up in that airport for like 4 hours well yeah that's it it doesn't Good idea isn't it yeah the thing with an airport it does feel like you get a little bit claustrophobic you're stuck in that that place but it'd be nice like if you're wait if you've got a long layover maybe get outside like Yeah en enjoy the sunshine this airport looks so advanced i'm going to check out what the toilets are like yeah you got McDonald's i did see um sexy tea here as well all your trolley look at these trolley though oh they're actually shopping carts what sexy tea oh yeah they're sexy tea so these are the toilets they've obviously got these open for staff to use so I don't know if there's anyone in there wow nice ah western toilet as well nice clean toilet and western can't do the squatties these these UFO looking things which are totally I've never seen anything like it really unique make make this space age airport look super space age they're all done from 3D printers which is mindblowing look look at it so they've actually built them to cover up the communication stuff so it's normally really ugly but they've made it really pretty and they're all dotted around i didn't know 3D printing did such large scales no I didn't i've always seen it like school that's what I mean yeah so this is what we talk about when we say the 4 billion R&B that it cost to make the structure when we say the internal stuff cost a lot more obviously you've got all this all this 3D printers all this stuff as well so obviously adding it all up yeah billions and billions of probably US dollars has gone into this airport and it's absolutely unbelievable the a real testament to Chinese infrastructure so good job we got Alex with us because he's just convinced the guy we're with to let us into the business class lounge so we're going to get an exclusive look at how the other half live and hopefully if the channel blows up we might get a chance to actually experience it fully operational absolutely hey that's that's the goal here to be actually the first people foreigners with apartments and stuff and yesterday I actually went and I looked an apartment and I was thinking okay so we just try and find a base where are we going to base ourel and Chongqing is definitely our favorite city in China so we're we you could be seeing a lot more of us we hope so so this is exclusive look to the first and class business lounge here oh smells lovely doesn't it what is that it smells like cinnamon so obviously all the chairs and everything is still wrapped up this So we're at the stage now of this airport where it's ready to open they're literally delivering the furniture getting everything ready putting the finishing touches on the clean cleaning up a bit getting rid of all the construction stuff and yeah they're getting ready to open smoke proof room there ah watch out for that wire what so you got a smoking room sorry what having a toilet shower what i've never seen a smoking room look at this chandelier that's massive hopefully one day you might see us in here when it's open so you got all the seating that's obviously where all the food will be you got like hot plates still going it's massive look it's shining the floor that's how how much they're getting ready they're shining the floor already oh we got like a business center it's a little private room entrance and then you got lockers so I'm guessing you can store your back look at these big lockers oh oh that's nice that is a comfy rock yeah plush plush carpet there vip lounge so we got like a chair room massage chair massage oh they're private booths waiting for you to unseal whoa ben come sit go on Ben you have private monitor okay watch your videos otwd look at that otwd is Rian on the thing yeah that's nice that Yeah what you do you you'd wait till you got 4 hours to check in sit here have a little snooze yeah get your beer on tap yeah oh so this one's like a private one on its own so they've still got little bits to do as you can see he's just uncovering the stuff test them see See how comfortable it is oh that is comfortable come on Ben test it out and that's the fourth runway oh that's the fourth runway this is the new one the fourth yeah these are big seats that's what I like the wide i hate it when you're going in a seat cuz I'm quite curvy and you're like crammed in beer beer yeah you can fit you probably fit two people in it look I've only got a little bum so what you saying you definitely fit two of me on it so they have got like a balcony area so you don't have to be stuck in a room if you come into first class and business you can come out here and see the whole airport look how nice these are wow these wa look at the It's all lit up and then you got the view of the whole airport to be honest right I've been in a you know I'm gloating a little bit here but I've been in a few business class well not business class lounges but I've been in a few lounges in my time and this one is the most impressive i know it's brand new and stuff but it's the most impressive one I've seen yeah but the speed will be a little bit slower oh see yeah yeah oh look oh wow oh my god see it identifies cars on the right left side as well that's amazing the guy from the airport this is great very smooth as well so it's just a random car here in China and it is literally driving itself just this this is the guy that was in the airport that was doing a driving yeah just guiding us around yeah and it's a This vehicle is an autonomous vehicle so you can just switch on and off and just say "Yeah you the car can just drive itself." But this is a brand new building it is not open for another two years but we get exclusive access to go and see it so we got some hats to wear and all that it's a still builder site still building site but they said it's took over 10 years to get from here it's like shape Floyd Kate for sale and then if you see over there there's like a metro and it goes straight into the building it has got 100 floors but then there's another part that has 101 floors because of obviously we're in Chongqing different levels mountains it's obviously built on a part of a mountain yes one side's here one side's here and you know you know everyone knows what Chongqing is like look you can actually see that the train's coming into the building now yeah I think they said that some people actually get this train just to observe the building although the ground floor is open there's restaurants and um shops there and stuff uh none of the other part of the building's open so people go "Oh get on the train and have a look." Just curiosity the rest of the floors are going to be office buildings and then hotel but they haven't determined which hotel yet it's going to be an expensive one yeah it's going to be one of the best cuz this is going to be like the most famous landmark here in Chongqing but the actual above it not even the media have had a look yet like says this isn't exclusive you're welcome so it cost 8 billion R&B which is about uh a billion dollars so all the materials used in this building are all green materials they're all environmentally friendly so this is not only a big building it's also a green building all right Alex just turned up so we're now joining the group we got a helmet silver cool ones they look brand new for us oh wow i've never been on a Chinese work site have you been on a building site before no I haven't i just said I've never been on a Chinese work site work site but I've never been on a work site no oh wow we're in a workers lift 47 floors now how many floors are we going up 69 69 69 69 oh my ears are going no 69 elevators 69 elevators yes inside of the whole building how many floor how many floors are we going up uh 99 99 99 yeah 99 you know I hope that last time I was in this building there was no windows now the 99th floor if you look from the outside I think there's still windows that have to go in no I'm serious i'm a little bit nervous now if I don't go out that door you won't be going out that door i'm a little bit nervous oh here we go when it goes silent it's a bit eerie isn't it exclusive first look why do we agree to these things i know yeah why yeah give me a sec alex has chickened out i'm all right at the moment yeah so we're just going up the last floor yes so as we said um they're obviously building from the bottom up so once we get to this sort of height this is literally it's still well we're still sort of the shell really i can't believe we're going up here after earthquake just um struck Tina and knocked down a work site watch out watch out yeah yeah at the time of recording um the earth the the earthquake in Bangkok and Thailand and Myar just happened so probably not the best time to go but this makes me nervous now oh my god i'm literally holding Ben's hand look there's no thing oh my god wow some view this is an amazing view though oh god you go first oh wow how are we the first ones up here so I'm assuming this is all the air conditioning yeah yeah i think it's the Yeah it's the air so this is the top this is the highest point or is there going to be more built yeah this is the top this is the top so it's not getting higher no no so we're officially on the tallest building in Chongqing so Alex told us we're officially the first influencers to come up here and do this so this is a real privilege obviously apart from Alex as well I would class Alex as an influencer as well bit more media and stuff but yeah this is a real privilege what a view as well it's unbelievable so this building is one of the most expensive products in the whole of China they've just invited me to walk on like the skyway so Rian wasn't up for doing it but I'm I haven't really got any fear so I thought yeah and they said "Oh no it's safe it's safe it's safe." So let's go so I'm just following them and
we're about to do something dangerous well not dangerous but do something a little bit crazy got to say hello to the workers is okay no no wow okay i'm getting a little bit nervous that for a view Rianne I know look where I am i can't believe it so once this is built where we're standing this is going to be the observation deck that will be the highest observation deck in the whole of China and look at all these buildings right so Chongqing is a big big city a huge city 32 million you've obviously you've obviously seen it on everyone's thumbnail but this building yeah it dwarfs all the other buildings all the other buildings that are you know 20 stories high look like tiny look look at it absolutely unbelievable alex was just saying that the guy who's flying the drone his absolute dream was to fly the drone on this building and he never got the opportunity so for him this is like like a dream it's a real privilege of him and he's he's probably milking it he's been doing it for ages so if you come over here this bit is like glass in it but you got our hotel over there so right over there you got the Raffles building and you can see both rivers so you've got the Yao River and then the other river here and then you can see Lisb where is that where's Lisb you can see it oh over there you see Liz the station you see it the train so you can literally see everything from up here yeah and also as this video is all about infrastructure check out Yeah this road as well look at that that's unbelievable and that's just like a random road here there's a random interchange it's just incredible so you can literally on top of this tower see 360 hey guys a scared guy okay guys like I am terrified of heights and this is Well Ben I mean we got some stairs that is intact but uh if it wasn't intact we'd go for one hell of a ride yeah yeah i'm like like I say I'm like I would say I'm pretty fearless when it comes to like things like heights and stuff but you know I hope that makes you a little bit less scared because um because of me the highest YouTuber on the highest building in Chongqing yeah just remember that if anyone asks china the highest in western China yes oh not just Chongqing but the highest in Western China congratulations thank you welcome to the future of aviation today hey everybody it's Alex here with the uh Diders in the back here otwd yeah we're loving it we're loving the car media loving the terminal and fourth runway project and fourth runway project in Chongqing International
