The Island People Of San Andres Colombia Tour

The Island People Of San Andres Colombia Tour

Show Video

people yeah we'll tell people all over  the world to live like one we need unity   we need to unite because I feel like a lot  of things happen because we don't have union   we don't unite what is your name my name is  margarita martinez and san Andres and Andres   welcome my name is maxi you know I would  like to invite you people from the world   will be the deepwater redfish like eloi  snapper or ice snapper mandilos right uh Raizal   the activity that I do for gain my bread every day  is being a tourist guy but this is uh san Andres   are you Colombian yes I'm Colombian I'm from right  here I'm 16. Colombia Hamas from san Andres island   Colombia speaks Spanish we are low speeds  this is the blind hole the blowing hole   right here is a gazer that blows water and winds  my name is katisha and I'm going to turn to my   friend and come back from united states okay so  cathedral I came for you now for the blowing hole   for what I came for you the rhizolin people  an afro-caribbean community that was born in   san andreas colombia who speak english creole if  you were to tell me about these people years ago   I might not believe you but since i spent so  much time in latin America i've come to hear   about them so i made a trip to San Andres the  island in Colombia to learn more about their identity what's going on guys i'm back here in  san andreas and we're in one of these uh   golf cart 12x4 situations here and we're heading  to go take a photo of the island so possibly you   can see the whole island within 45 minutes or  something like that um so we're gonna go parts   of the island we haven't seen so far plus i'm on  a hunt looking for rising okay what is rising ace   what are we looking for ryzen is actually  the indigenous people from the island here   uh the black people here the people who speak a  particular type of partwa language okay it's been   hard for me to find i've been coming across some  of them that work in this tourist area right here   pretty much this whole island is like a tourist  area but i've been coming across some rising   but uh hopefully we can go to a community that's  all rising uh i have a meeting with a young woman   who's supposed to give me some good info but  anyways enjoy the tour hit that like button   because we're about to see parts of the island  you ain't never seen before we all going i'm   taking you with me let's go all right and  shout out mvp in the building right now all right guys so now we're entering new territory  i haven't seen before still some hotels here this   is one of your exclusive hotels most expensive  place i think by far to stay at i wanted to   stay here um but the prices got so high man it was  starting to be around 500 a night to stay here so   i decided not to stay here but interesting  place it's probably one of your most modern   in this place you can stay it has a lot of pools  there very comfortable place maybe next time   yeah i said next time because i feel like i do  want to come back here uh there's not enough   time to get things done but fingers crossed  next time we'll have the opportunity to do some   amazing things here yeah that's the airport  right there we're crossing the airport area   and i think we're going to be heading towards  where you can see the the sign that says i love   san andreas but we're going to be going pretty  much from this angle all the way around there   okay so here we go this is the sign that  says i love santa there's right there   okay we actually walked down this far for the  nightlife video check out that blue blue water   right here here it looks like there's something  frozen going on the beach but you see some nice   wave action you know you kind of get a respect  for the strength of this ocean right here   the first two days i've been here the weather was  really good then for the next couple of days the   weather's got really gloomy so i mean you can't  control the weather because you can plan these   trips and you'll come out and ah you know but  one thing for sure people don't let that stop   them from having a good time so regardless  of the weather people still are coming out   enjoying the beach they'll still go to the beach  even if it's raining they'll still come out for   nightlife and they'll still try to have the  best time they can have so if i could just   speak on the weather that's what that's what to be  expected but uh i mean the scenery is a beautiful scenery all right guys so now we're getting our first  look at some residential homes over here uh   this is where some people live as you can see if  you look at the shoreline you can see there might   have been some form of debris uh if you haven't  known this island and another island got hit   by a hurricane you can see the tiles over  here just cleaning up in some parts of the   road they have blocked off for various reasons i  guess maybe they didn't want people to fall off   so they put they blocked up the roads but  yeah this place got hit with a hurricane   and it came from this gang right here this  shoreline but uh real interesting let's   check out some of these homes as we drive by  oh wow look at that look what that did wow   knocked down all right guys so check  this out got a guy hurting some power what's going on all right let me see where we at  guys check out what's going on got my man hurling in some cow right  here what's going on player you rising   i came all the way from the united  states to find people who rise it man   you rising everybody rising here nice to meet  you how are you guys doing man i'm a youtuber   and i wanted to learn about the people of this  island yeah i guess yeah so this is your uh this   is your cattle yes every day you walk them every  day i bring them down here to feed nice and nice   and they they provide uh food or milk for the  island yes sir oh nice man nice nice to meet you okay what neighborhood is this hello how are you hello hello um  what's the name of this neighborhood   i don't know uh this is the name the one  is right here you speak to us okay this is   a restaurant this is our restaurant okay cool  cool cool hello owner oh she's busy right now okay okay okay you see when i hear that how you're talking  i'm thinking you're from jamaica you're from   bahamas so are you from some other island more  closer to the united states but this is uh san   andreas san andreas are you are you colombian  yes i'm colombian i'm from rightly i'm citizen   colombia i'm from san andreas island  colombia speaks spanish we all speak spanish   that's what i came to learn i wanted to know about  the i am not colombian you're not colombian oh i'm   san andreas so is that rising rise up right  south from san andreas island not colombian   okay colombian is from bogota cartagena those  places okay here is colombia i speak purpose   english with you colombia don't speak english  social spanish my name is leon what is your name   beautiful name is lydia fabiola brand steel love  your name lydia what is what food you have here   i want to eat some rising food but you  want to eat it right now because it's   not ready i have comes ready but i have to  we i'm here to learn about your culture so   i can offer you [ __ ] fried potato salad let's  get let me let me get some kung fu okay that's   i love me some coke i want to see how you guys  make it here okay all right okay i'll fry potato   and make salad you know i was um asking a lot of  people uh where are the rice in here it was hard   for me to find because there's a lot of people  that just speak spanish here i speak two languages oh my god i love how you your it just switched  from one to the next it's so it's so awesome   i speak more english people  okay i am not spanish people   okay okay spanish people is from where where the  fans are where does the horizons originate from   that's what i'm here for where the english  come from yeah we are we always from england we always from england but england stay  so far so they turned we have to colombia   they left yeah so we are not colombian okay  so the areas were occupying this island   here was for england but england turn away and  give us to colombia okay colombia don't give us   nothing because look on that whole stuff where the  hurricane blew up you know i hear a lot of people   a lot of people are upset i heard a  lot of people are upset about that what happened here so this is a carp to recover with when  it rain water run like nothing in here   so next week when i get the  money i'm going to fix it nice nice slice so what what would you do to you  would put meadow on there what would you do i just   have the plastic beer okay next when i can't buy  the drink okay i'll bed mattress everything went   okay so who who's this young lady right here is  she is she cooking food for us and she is the   helper with the next lady oh she's the helper  are you rising too yes nice to meet you some oh nice guys i was asking some some people when  i was over there like where where can i go so   that's why we got in uh just driving around no i  see the man with the cattle i said stop the car so that's why i came here it's not a beautiful  restaurant but they're going to eat something good   i believe it i believe it i'm from the islands  too well my family's from the islands but not   uh obviously not san andreas you want freddy fruits let me get some chair let me get a chair so i can okay wow wow i i i want to say guyana bana  what is it guanabana is it in pangolin who's going to do it the chef right here are you rising yes okay so i'm doing a  documentary about the people from san   andreas problem i don't have no problem okay so  tell me about your life here living as a right uh   rising my my activity that i do for uh for  my bread every day is being a tourist guy   that isn't like a little lake that we have on  the hill before you go on your trees and caimans   are we called jacare and you feed them we do them  as only like these and which means the facial what then you can touch those little those cameras  and take picture and you have a cave tree too   where you answer it enter inside  to the tree and you hear a little   bit about the history from the island  when it will discover who discovered it   how you came to be for colombia  you are a little bit too the language you're speaking is considered creole  um well right now speaking english okay so what is   creole wait a minute creole is like it's like  a caribbean english but it's different it was   like it's like um made it by the slaves of the  long city england now they pronounce the english   move each other and move faster like you say  i say um what are you doing and we say they do okay if i told you where are you going  now and i said where you're going   ah okay i got you that is real like what  i've heard from like jamaica or her from   saint peter so bahamas and it's under it's  interesting how you guys are different but similar   you know when i was watching i'm born  in miami my parents are from haiti   your family has to come here no no no my  parents are from haiti but i was born in miami is totally different it's like a french  french difference because i hear like   the creole from there that's like they  are mixed ryder or april is only english   pronounced chatter humble phosphor so  we can say this is a broken english you know let me let me ask you a question right  because i've been watching um tv here taylor isla   all right and tell useless says we have our own  identity yeah what does that mean to you when   they say uh tele east is like a chinese uh you can  watch it in colombia and it pretty much broadcast   stuff from this island or identity that's or that  is is totally something different when you came to   colombia or you came to san andreas you you'll  find two different customs two different people   different language different religions different  styles to live okay so that's that's what it is   so some people if you are rising and you know  i'm telling you right now there's going to   be a lot of people who watch this video are  going to be so shocked to hear you guys speak   you know because it's it's interesting that we are  accustomed to that but not hearing it in colombia   i think that's going to be so  awesome for people to see about that   and then your your culture is different so  talk about your hair is this this muscle   that's your style this time i hear well really  that my my mom there is what would call me you know okay okay that's what's up that's  what's up okay what about the music you guys   like to listen to well really i love you when  really i love to hear like dancehall um we hear   um when you mean country music with freddy hold  on do you listen to johnny cash or no yeah we   listen to all those little johnny cash ah those  music no way listen yesterday i was walking down   the street and i heard country music and i was  like why am i why i'm hearing country music in   latin america you guys love i love that okay who's  your favorite country artist and ready fender   look dude i listen to him too and  i love him jim reese jim reese   wow wow you know you guys are surprising me  every every time you open your mouth so you like   country music i hear i hear a little bit  of everyone okay i love crunchy music   well when i hear country music i like um loretta  okay i like to hear too and charlie pride huh all   different artists from country but really what i  i love to hear more is like dancehall and we have   to like say what is that is like okay okay yes  um we're here to em a little bit of calypso okay uh i saw a gentleman going crazy  last night he was dancing too um   was it is it something that a lot of you  here in barranquilla colombia it's uh they danced oh champetta is not native from  the island okay really what what is our music   is krill it's great that is like a dance although  you have espanola hit the ensemble and when you go   to calipso we have caribbean new style you guys  playing here yes sometimes i hear kompa in the   video with the video show here y'all play it  yes so and that is for our music that we hear   caribbean music okay straight everything  correct yes it's like the same is it that   like you heard in jamaica behind trinidad in  tobago and we heard the same type of music   awesome now we have our music that proper from  the island okay so but you know all of us are   caribbean we keep like nearly similar the our  culture are similar for a way to live is similar   what everyone got for our own identity  for one style to live you know it's nice he this is a the fried the red fruit so this  is the breadfruit right here that she   was showing me earlier some lettuce and  some soup right here okay here it comes   you're clean it could come with a difference  with the skin with your hot potato   when it's finished clean it you  beat it when you don't beat it you onion garlic sweet pepper black pepper natural  i don't put no maggie nothing like that   okay no artificial um no artificial in it  oh okay season okay it's natural seasoning   natural seasoning okay wow you got me excited  and then the soup right here you put in the soup   we have a thing that means sasona ring out of  maggi you're seasoned with onion sonare garlic   sweet pepper a little vinegar and you leave it  making bye this sweet pepper give it color nice nothing artificial here guys and then this is this  is vanilla okay vanilla water so sugar cane um   juice okay okay yeah so we're gonna cook lentils  okay all right so this is gonna be my first time   eating conk in san andres try some of this conch  yes i love me some kind of guys that's right so good so she's telling me her love for  black men i don't love black man i don't   like claremont clear man she don't like black she  like black men no clear man no claremont oh okay i say get married to you with everything   i know i know what that means of course i  know what that means so this is the plantain   they were telling me it's not plantain it's  bread fruit guys and it really tastes good yeah you're sweetie it's really good guys it's our   it's like a potato it tastes like a  potato but it's different though um so in miami there's so many um different cultures  there a lot of people from different places i was born in miami in miami born and raised in  miami uh my parents are haitian my father is hi i just wanted her to speak spanish i wanted  to hear you guys speak spanish because i think   it's so interesting how you have like good  accents from both parts spanish so growing up   is that a prerequisite you have to learn spanish  or is it the first thing you learn in spanish or   the first thing you learn is patois no  it's they don't speak foreign english   english or and we are taught english and we  start creole and then we learn to see spanish   also both our native language is real and in  english we can speak english and we can be true okay as far as activity is done right   like yesterday was a holiday or something what  you guys were doing we go to the beach yeah i knew do you guys have like a special holiday on the  island that you guys celebrate maybe uh carnival   or we have like the emancipation week where it's  like a week off your um um cultural activities   um celebration have cancers queen kinds  when is that final mistake is like in march   and it's like a week totally um of your activity  native activities no okay so what is what is one   of the things you guys do as a native activity  where we take and we do match car race boxcar race   yes really so you make your own bus car  yeah so oscar uh where we go and i can camp   and then we red scan down the hill nice  and it's a big event everybody shows up   everybody's right here we have to the house race  it's like a native activity too from the island   we have we go to we have bunga car race we  have that gotta be like the best time to be   on the island everybody's drinking enjoying  their time do you have you guys have chicha no um your own alcohol here or you do  you make your own beer or wine here i have a wine tree around the back  this girl this girl has everything yes i have a grape tree what they make grape juice oh  trying to make the juice okay i make wine with it   nice i pull a bucket of the juice of the grape  show the sugar and cover it for a couple days   when it opens in format in oneself a bucket  of wine this is the nicest thing and your i'm drink too much i'm assuming your family um  help uh teach you how to make this food or my   great grandmother celedonia just a great great  grandmother and my grandmother tell me wow and   they show you how one of them is dead now are they  the one that owned this restaurant before you or   you started it not here in san luis i was a little  chill never saturday after bake hundred bread   a hundred bucks where's san luis next the other  side of that it's like the other ends the other um   um like it's like circumvent yeah that is sandwich  when you're going around you end up in zombies   okay nice you know what hold on grandparents let  me eat this food because i want to eat but i'm   so interested we'll be back guys but this food is  really good especially this [ __ ] right here guys   hold on you you said you sleep in a container when  the hurricane comes my container is right over   there a blue container when the hurricane come  when it begins boom boom boom see i'll do a stick   oh my gosh not doing nothing oh it's terrible over there  there's no home there right now   then most descent and get it that is what saves  them wow you know you make assistance of water if it didn't happen wow where's  the container let me see a blue container right there  that metal container over there all right okay and you are welcome here  thank you no what is the name of this is   restaurant is there is it online or  fabiola fabiola restaurant fabiola terminale hablas espanol okay shout out to her she's amazing i love her okay  i love you okay let me i'm gonna go over there   how you going we go over that one okay so  it's interesting to see how certain people   um learn to survive when the hurricane came over  here and as you heard her say that that probiotic   did have it rough but she said she was  staying in a blue container this is where   she was staying right and now let's check out  this container that uh pretty much saved her during the hurricane and you can only imagine  not only her but other people probably came   up with the same idea to do the same i  mean it's super sturdy it's super heavy but the the noise coming from this thing  getting hit by water had to be insane   not knowing exactly what's going on seems  like there might be some power being ran   but it was one of these containers she stated i  went to go look at the container you had light   in there nothing what were you hearing when  you i carried my dress and sleep on the floor   what you heard did you hear a noise that's debris  you don't hear bomb bomb nothing hitting them oh wow [ __ ] and providence  big container in prominence wow and thank god you know   it was it was other people in the container  or doing the same thing or no no no the car   was me one year you by yourself you live here  no you're with your lover you lie by yourself and this is for the hurricane that just passed   right so this is her son right here and um he's  a fisherman what type of fish you grab here you   find here actually yahoo red snapper deep water  redfish kingfish mahi mahi nice pharah aton what is the specialty you notice that people love  it from this island or is the fish that everybody   wants most will be the deep water redfish like  eloise meanwhile snapper or dice snapper mandilos   so like how often do you go out to go get the  fish or okay well the distance that i go is about   two miles from here and i go every day every  day do you how do you feel being in the sea   it's something excellent man it's pacific nice  okay um what about do you um find conch or did   you go deep diving for i stay in the lunch  i line fishing i don't like okay okay i only   use lionfish in it nice nice thank you brother  okay appreciate it okay let's see if we can find   some more people from the island and i'll learn  more about this place the identity of this place   all right okay let's go all  right he's going to show us uh   something real cool all right this is  the type of day i've been waiting for   i love learning about culture people new people  and um you know getting advice from you guys   telling me where to go you know what i mean all  right so when you come here to know a little bit   of what is for our cultural way to live so we  would go out you find others guys like me like   nature people from the island that you can  sit and talk with all right cool let's do it okay so people native people live here yeah  this is a community this is a riser community   and what's the name of it called his  name as limbaugh okay limbaugh and coke   okay nice wow it looks like something is there any  nice like a regular neighborhood community yeah   it looks nice nice neighborhood you live  in this area it's a cool living right here   see we're at the native communities yeah it's  like where is cool spot the nicest park to live   because here where are the pieces that where  the part of the residence people live yeah is   we're like it's more hot because there are people  that caught like different and different culture   the frequency so they are like more more  more more more axon dangerous to go okay   so this part uh the nice part is you start  to live to have fun with your family okay so you see we are in this point in the  middle of the island san andreas have   27 square kilometer and we have like the third  biggest coral wolf in the world coral reef or   the biggest one is the one from australia the  second 21 from belize honey third one is one   from san andreas well san andreas from family  was um colonized in 1818 sorry sorry in 1629   by the english it was colonized in 1629 by the  english and then when and what they won that and   was discovered island before was m morgan morgan  americano captain morgan yes captain morgan okay   morgan what's the cursor what is  the cursor as a pirate's a hub like   permission to tip oh he had permission from what  um country from from england okay he could attack   like spend spain votes on others um different  country but he can achieve non-english votes   okay no so that was the deal well it makes sense  you want you know you don't want your competition   doing well so look what was the condition the  english where will finance his um his sailing so   he was living on this island he used the island  like he's even not living where he make his   attack he'll land here in this area strategically  and whenever he he wanted he'll go to he can go   red flight he go anywhere he wants to did he  keep some of his treasure here or something yes   they say in the cave um where is one of the  touristic places got us here is where he used to   go um to hide his t-shirts you have all these dogs  here man they're not afraid of the it's like their   best friends or something you say um they have  like respect mutual respect are you guys feeding   them how hard do they eat we feed them we patient  this is the closest i've ever been to one of these   real things you feed them they don't make no moves  man you guys feed them so maybe that's why they   they're now we feel them and don't look at us  as a danger they look at you as time to eat don't be aggressive no nothing  one you can touch him too   oh no i'm good with that man i feel i feel like  it would be my lucky day we'll go and give him   a touch right there tail see what's going on  see why watch me lose my my camera here yeah   why why we don't why they don't attack us because  you see right here we we mine is so nice wow   right here we protect those animals yeah we don't  make no one hit them with rocks ticks like that   how we feel so they look at us like  like a like a natural brother see   okay so they don't look at us like danger so  that the reason why they see us they look at   us like okay native like like say like family  family so but wait let me ask you a question   this can't be your biggest one is  it where are the big boys and well   the collar what told you they are the smallest  type of caymans oh they don't go bigger than   this they grow a little bit bigger because they  grow like okay one meter right to two meter at   the moment this is the biggest one we have all  those things oh look at look how he wants to walk   see there you are waiting for a wee bit i'm gonna  get look how he's walking like a straight torpedo what was all that talking about i heard that  like these things can't run they can run fast   but only in a straight line so if you run zigzag  they're going to have a hard time catching you oh whoa man you're a pimp at that oh i got some other brothers here from the island  what's going on san andres and andres welcome   my name is maxi you know i would like to  invite you people from the world to come   and enjoy and visit our island uh san andreas  island come and share our culture our music   or our different type of activities you speak  about music what music am i going to hear here   as far as rising rising right okay yes you could  hear some reggae but not that's not our music so   you could hear it so some calypso some shorties  some mentos you know some some some polka   that's our our native wrestling music you know  poke poke what was that last card i've never heard   about jumping polka i probably it's probably alone  and i'm just i just don't know what that is yeah   i think you could not even find it on youtube  because you the only opportunity you could um   have and enjoy that is here in san andreas or in  providence island what is that what is it similar   to um harsh draw bone the instrument harsh tribone  ah a metallic metallic top so you have people that   play that here like live band here yes it's  like the difference group that i told you like from the island is so we can understand very well the   spanish music and also the english  music and they carry that nice nice yeah in colombia costa you're speaking portuguese right now why  are you learning portuguese uh you see   um by always we we're surrounded by people  that come from all parts of the world   so i'm personalized to know others language  so you picked up a little portuguese from   the airport from brazil brazil okay  i speak a lot of bits of processes   it's really good yeah we can understand perfectly  you see what happened you see by we have three   language all right tongue parameters too to adapt  to others languages exactly are you from united   states no i'm from san andreas i'm native from  the island yes that's awesome i love here we   want to come back yeah is it anyone came san  andreas they have to repeat yes nice culture   they hit from the people you can't see it all at  one time anyways that's what i was just saying   we've been here for two weeks uh more than two  weeks oh a little bit longer you come to san   andreas and you want a native party you go to  benga on calabar yeah of music there are where   you're gonna have music from the island to her  calixo polka you heard too a little bit of dancers   it's located in san luis obispo and is watering  it you can call me k okay well all right if you   want to turn you can call me at the 318 317 91 10.  that is my am address that you can cut me up okay   right there what's up or you want to call me and  i will attend you all right welcome to san andreas   and big fun okay all right guys so we're back on  the road and um i guess we're passing some more   tourist areas so there's another i love standing  this side right here i got some guys over here   selling um some something to drink people just  you see as you can see people are using their   their carts and riding around the city enjoying  your time i want to get some more information on   riser all right guys so we're not done we're  still working to get the more information   but as you can see here they got  like scuba diving sessions going on   uh so much stuff you can do not enough  time here what is this place called again okay so cathedral i came for  you not for the blowing hole   for what i came for you not for the geyser i  want you guys to do with me i want to learn   more about you about me all my your culture  my culture so tell us a little bit about uh   your culture here in um san andreas my country  speak english from england um let's move from   here this guy is looking so much like come on  show me your bar too come on yeah all right family right here yeah okay let's go  business business what's up brother all right   so you know what my business in name seaweed seaweed okay all  right lisa del mar and i work here what i drink   and what i sell is typical drinks okay like crazy  coconut pine juice lemonade in coconut we sell a   strawberry too this is like your main source of  income uh as far as tourism yeah all concerned   i was here when the hurricane because the  hurricane came from this way right yeah i can't   i was going to nicaragua so you get to affect  this part of this side of the island that is   punta sur is this the salt park this place  looks relatively unshaken or it was broke   down or it was brought down this whole thing  gone the government give we the spot also they   helped out slowly because i know people are still  waiting for government assistance oh i fight and i   get it oh you don't play yeah okay we came from  behind yeah i shook the nibiru through the side   and then mushroomed this i just put this deals the  idea okay start work how long you had the business   running well i have this business about 10 years  this is your business it's my baby this is your   your employer are you the boss lady no i have the  boss ah this is my that is from my sister okay   wait wait what do you mean your sister this is my  sister and the one that dropped from the oracan   my coffee where's your sister my sister yeah  he's not here oh she was he's building something   up there to work the water is gonna be based on   the weight that's about to  hit the rocks right here where's the water let's see hold up look at it bye let's see speedway guys and then check out this massive waves  that are coming through the geyser so   you can understand how this is happening oh nice so this is how it works guys  gotta be careful i don't fall   if it goes right in there so it funnels  through
