Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone and welcome back to the channel from Izumoshi, a small town in Japan, also called Izumo. Along the coast I boarded a night train from Tokyo yesterday and reached here in the morning. It was a wonderful journey, I have documented it completely.
If you haven't seen my last vlog, then do watch it. This was my favorite out of all the night trains I have boarded so far. But this town is very small and there is not much to do here.
At first, I was planning to spend the night here. But then I decided to move ahead and visit some other interesting place. So I've decided to board a 4 hour long train journey to Kobe, a big city.
And there is a lot to see there. Shinkansen's fast train track doesn't pass from here. So I'll board a 3 hour long local train to reach Okayama. From Okayama, Shinkansen will take only half an hour to reach Kobe. Since I have a 14-day Japan Rail Pass.
You can cover as many journeys as you want in these 14 days. The advantage is that, since I don't have much to do in this city. So I will take the next train's ticket and go somewhere else. Otherwise, it will cost me around 12,000 to 13,000 Yen.
So let's go. I will take you with me. They have built a small waiting area here.
It is very beautiful. People are sitting here and waiting for their train. Here is my luggage. The zip is open. Let's see what I do with it. It is not zipping up.
I think it is broken. It is not broken, but it has come out from one side. No problem. Arif gave me this bag to use. I may have to buy a new bag somewhere. I just need to fix it somehow.
Then it will be fine. Please select a ticket time. My platform number is 2. But cannot go from here.
JR Pass? Okay. He is asking me to insert both of them in it. JR Pass and my ticket.
Wow. Thank you. He could have told me to leave after seeing the JR Pass. But he told me to put both of them in it. They follow the rules here. People are so down-to-earth here.
Unbelievable. Sometimes I wonder how it is possible. How can there be so many nice people? Because there are very few such people in the world. Here comes my train. Let's ask him.
Excuse me. Okayama? Yes. Okay. Thank you. I will tell you later about the train. But first, let's find my seat.
This is car 3. Car 2 is behind it. This is a local train that's why it's vacant.
I thought I should confirm with him. I don't want to miss the train. This is a comfortable seat.
There is enough space, one can sit comfortably. It is 12:38 pm and the train has departed. I will keep telling you all these things. Whether it is a local, a fast train or a night train.
The timing here is almost perfect. Local trains take a lot of time as they go slowly. It takes a lot of time to reach the cities devoid of Shinkansen track. It will take 4 hours to reach Okayama. The distance is almost the same to reach Kobe. But it will take half an hour only.
The good thing is that I will enjoy the scenery on the way. The advantage of such travel is that you'll get all the information you need. I have finally reached Okayama. Now I will board Shinkansen from here which will take me to Kobe.
I have almost half an hour. The train station is not very big. I am talking according to Japan. Otherwise it is very lively and crowded.
Let's see. I am a little hungry. If I get a sandwich for lunch from some cafe. I will take it away and leave.
She has kept the train ticket. This is the first time but it's quite possible. Whenever I go out, she may keep the train ticket. But I didn't need it yet. I saw a 7-Eleven here.
Maybe I will get something to eat from here. Let me have a look. I think I will get a sandwich from here. There is tuna in front. There must be something here. There is an information board here.
I think the one in blue at 4:10 pm is mine. Let's wait for a while. It shows in English too. Then I will get to know. The one on which 8:54 is mentioned.
Shin-Osaka is going via platform no. 24. Here comes the train. Shinkansen has just arrived.
That's why it's crowded here. People are waiting to go down to the platform. They in a queue here. Everything happens in queue here. Look at the school children.
It looks like they all have the same bags. Exactly. They all have the same bags. I want to visit their school some day.
The train has arrived. The seat number is 5A. There are a lot of children. I think they're on their school trip. Here is my seat.
It's a very comfortable seat. This is my 35-minute journey. If you go by road, the distance from Okayama to Kobe is about 165 km. I think it will take about 2 to 2.5 hours. The speed will be slow within the cities.
I won't be able to provide you a tour like that today. Because it is just a half-hour ride. But one day, I'll go on a long journey with a speed upto 300 kmph. I also bought something to eat here.
Let me show you. In Japan, you will get this usually at 7-Eleven. It has fish and rice.
I don't remember its name. It has grilled salmon and egg sandwich. I also bought something to drink. I think it's peach flavored. Something like that. I bought all these things for about $3.
I just downloaded an app so that I can see the speed of the train. As you can see, the speed is 262 kmph. If you look outside, these are almost all the residential areas. The train is passing by at a very fast speed. That's why the speed won't be as fast here. This was the litter.
Here comes the station. This is Kobe's train station. A new train station called Shin-Kobe.
If I am not mistaken, Shin means new. So they use Shin with all the new stations. Shin-Osaka, Shin-Kobe, and many more like this.
This is a relatively medium-sized train station. This is the exit. One of my friends has come to pick me up. Javed Assalam-o-Alaikum. How are you? I am fine.
This is Javed's Prius. It's a beautiful model. I saw it in Pakistan as well. I am meeting Javed for the first time here. I didn't meet him before. You are Arif's friend, right? Arif told me that if I'm going to Kobe as I didn't have a plan to come to Kobe.
I had to go to Sapporo. I got the train. So for the previous video, I came here.
I have to come here, but later. Javed has picked me up. He will show me the city. I think the machine isn't functional.
Javed, how long have you been here? I have been here for 18 years. My father came here in 1988. I came here through a scholarship. Then I joined the family. So now you are in the car business. How is it going? Thank God, it's good.
So let's go and see the city. And show you Kobe. Check this out. This 360 camera is amazing. It will change now.
Sugar? No sugar. Javed brought me here. This is a very old, authentic, European style cafe. What is the name of this cafe? Nishimura. You told me that the coffee here is very good.
Apart from that, you ordered some bread. I also confirmed this with him. When I used to go to China, they always gave hot water. Here, they bring cold water in winters and summers too. See the difference in culture. As soon as I entered Mongolia, it was hot water.
Whether it's hot or cold. This cafe is very popular in the city. The elite class of Kobe stays here. The elite class of Japanese stay here.
There is Ashiya ahead. There are more elite classes than this. The elite class of Japanese stay here. The coffee shops and places are made this way for the elite class.
Old Indians before partition are here. There're buildings here. The whole family lives here. Sikhs. They came here before the partition before World War II. Let's try the bread.
Is this simple bread? Yes, it's simple bread. Let's have it. See, this is Kobe's bread. It's not a typical Kobe bread. You get it only here.
It's a very thick bread. It tastes like butter. It's a little salty.
Is this cappuccino? Is this cinnamon? Cinnamon cappuccino. I don't think I've had it before. They have added cream on the top.
The crockery is also very traditional. You will often see it in British and French movies. As you know, earthquakes occur frequently in Japan. There was an earthquake in Kobe in 1995. It was one of the deadliest earthquakes in Japan.
They built a monument in the back. The clock is stopped at the time of the earthquake. It was at 5.46 pm. The epicenter was near Kobe. Due to this earthquake, 4,600 people died in this city. Kobe was almost destroyed in that earthquake.
But now, the city is lively and back to normal. I'm near the city center. Let's go there. We are not going to enter the city yet.
Javed is telling me that there is a historical mosque here. Let's visit it first. Later, we will visit the city center.
You can see a beautiful tower there. This is NHK, the national TV of Japan. This is their tower. They broadcast from here. I can see the embassy of South Korea.
You can find a lot of embassies here. You can find halal food in Kobe as well. This is a supermarket. I think they sell halal food here. You can see a lot of spices here. This might be an Asian store.
Oh, it's a Pakistani store. That's okay. There was a Japanese inside.
That's why I thought it might be a Japanese store. This is the Kobe mosque. It's a very beautiful mosque from the outside. It feels like the architecture is very similar to that of North Africa.
You will find it in Morocco and Tunisia. Let's go inside. I will show you the mosque from inside. This is the Kobe mosque.
This is the first mosque in Japan. It was built in 1935. At that time, the Muslim community collected donations and built this mosque. The architect was a Czech. Later, due to earthquakes and second world war in 1945. I will show you the inside of the mosque.
It's not a big room. But it's very simple. You can see the Altar in front. It's built in the same style as the mosque in North Africa. I will tell you more about this mosque.
Assalamu alaikum. You are the imam of the mosque. What is your name? My name is Sadiq. Let me explain the history of the mosque first. This is a picture of the mosque built in 1935. There are destroyed areas around the mosque due to war in 1945.
I told you about the earthquake in 1995. The mosque was safe at that time. This is a picture of that time.
I have visited mosques outside Pakistan. The mosque is not just a place of worship. It is a community center where people socialize.
They solve their problems together. You can see a lot of youngsters here. I can rarely see this in Japan elsewhere. Since it's Friday night, it's crowded. The young population is slowly declining.
We are now in the shopping area of Kobe. These are the places in the city center. It is said that when merchants used to come here, they had markets here. As time passed, things changed and modernized. Shopping areas were built here.
Do you have any questions? You didn't come to Pakistan. Mr. Javed told me that there will be 2-3 people. But there are a lot of people here. Thank you very much.
There are some people sitting here too. I can't introduce everyone. Thank you very much. Our food has been served.
Mr. Nafey wants to ask something. You may ask. Have you eaten such food before? I have eaten a lot in the Middle East. But I am eating here for the first time.
Thank you very much. Before this, Mr. Arif made delicious Bannu Pulao. Thank you very much. It is almost 12:30 at night. After having a good dinner, and after meeting a lot of friends, I have reached the Kansai airport in Osaka.
I have a flight from here tomorrow. I will tell you about that in detail in the next vlog. Now I will show you my room. This is the same hotel where I stayed in Tokyo.
I stayed in a capsule hotel. I have checked in here. Let's go to my room. This time I have booked a different room.
All facilities are almost the same as in Tokyo. But the room is a little different. So I decided to show you that too. There are a lot of vacant rooms here. This is my room.
This is also a capsule room but bigger than the former one. It is relatively spacious. It's a proper room to spend the night comfortably. There is a TV here. And of course, they have given clothes to sleep in.
They have also provided the towels. In addition to that, there is a charging port here. I will sleep comfortably here. There is no attached washroom. All facilities are similar to those of the capsule hotel. I paid $77 or $78 here.
It is very expensive. I was thinking that even in the best hotel in China, I spent $40 to $45 there. This is my second day here. A small cabin room like this costs $78.
Welcome to Japan. Let's see how the rest of Japan tour will be. I plan to stay in hotels for a few days. After that, I will do some camping.
I think it will be a good tour. Anyway, I take your leave. I hope you liked the vlog. Remember me in your prayers.
Don't forget to like, subscribe and share. Bye.
