Leave a comment Designed by Mexican firm Edmonds International, The St Regis Kanai Resort boasts an exceptional circular architecture The design features two small intersected circles that hold the public areas and three large semi-circles housing the rooms The circular design motif also alludes to the sun-shaped Mayan calendar which comprises 13 moons lasting 28 days The lobby's far end offers great views of the mangroves The resort's circular buildings float above a seemingly endless sea of lush mangrove forests When viewed from above, the resort almost looks like a spaceship that landed in bright-green vegetation The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya features 124 lavishly appointed guestrooms and 19 suites Guests of all room categories have access to St Regis' signature butler service I stayed in this suite during my holiday (room category: Vincent Astor suite) The suite feature custom hanging mirrors, ceramic light pendants, and an intricate walnut wood-carved headboard The ensuite bathroom is equipped with double vanity, a bathtub and a walk-in shower The guestrooms on the first and second floor all have balconies with uninterrupted sea views The ground-level rooms enjoy views over the mangroves and also have a private plunge pool The suite comes with a large outdoor space, featuring a Jacuzzi, outdoor shower, hammock and plunge pool The St Regis Kanai Resort features two massive pool areas, one dedicated to families and one only open to adults A restaurant - called Riveira - is located near the entrance of the family pool area and open for lunch only The family pool area is comprised of two large pools, which are lined by dozens of sunbeds and cabanas The resort was built with a minimal construction footprint, aimed at protecting the nearby Sian Ka’an Unesco Reserve The resort is ingeniously suspended above the mangroves, minimizing the effects on the fragile habitats underneat To further minimize any ecological impact, the different areas of the hotel are connected by elevated walkways To preserve as much of the reserve as possible, the developers of the Kanai community built on only 9% of their entire property The St. Regis Kanai, Riviera Maya opened on March 15, 2023 The hotel's family pool area is set along a beautiful white sand beach lapped by the turquoise Caribbean Sea Several luxurious cabanas are located along the family pool and they can be rented for the day for a fee The family pool area also features a game & TV room with bar Located next to the family pool is an adults only beach club The adults only beach club comes with its own swimming pool, Jacuzzi, bar and restaurant The resort is managed by St Regis, one of my favorite luxury hotel brands in the world The St Regis brand was born with the opening of The St Regis Hotel in New York by John Jacob Astor IV in 1904 St Regis manages nearly 50 luxury hotels around the world, including iconic destinations like Bora Bora and the Maldives Part of the Marriott Hotel Group, St Regis participates in Marriott Bonvoy, the global loyalty program of Marriott Marriott Bonvoy allows guest to collect points when staying at Marriott affiliated hotels and to spend them for free nights The beach club has its own restaurant, serving light lunches Let's take a walk on the resort's magnificent beach Guests of The St Regis Kanai can also get married on the beach Let's return to the hotel's majestic lobby Located next to the reception area is the resort's library The library serves St Regis’ signature ritual of afternoon tea and it's a great backdrop to enjoy a tasting of Mexican chocolate The library features its own terrace The hotel’s sophisticated aesthetics and contemporary interiors were created by Chapi Chapo Design Right next to the lobby complex is Chaya Restaurant (I'll have dinner an breakfast here later in this video) The resort's design evokes the surrounding elements from the mangrove trees to the nearby cenotes (natural sinkholes) Rich materials imitating this natural ecosystem include marbles with hues of blue, grey and green, and travertine The St Regis Bar is located on the hotel's second floor The bar offers a great view of the sunset The St Regis Bar offers the Kanai Mary, a local take on the brand’s signature Bloody Mary cocktail The bar marks the transition from day to night with a celebratory champagne sabering each evening Let's have dinner at Chaya Restaurant, which serves regional cuisine with culinary elements rooted in Mediterranean history Guests can also have dinner at TORO by Chef Richard Sandoval, a venue with a Latin-inspired menu led by the esteemed chef Each morning, a breakfast buffet with some local Mexican touches is offered at Chaya Restaurant The St Regis Kanai Resort's spa is a tranquil enclave located at the end of the enormous lobby The spa offers treatments inspired by ancient practices and featuring local ingredients Signature treatments include the Secret Garden ritual, which uses hand select ingredients from the hotel’s garden The spa features eight treatment suites, a pool area and a standalone relaxation salon The spa's Celestial Energy treatment is inspired by Mayan cosmology and uses hot stones energized under the moon Next to the spa is the Athletic Club, which features cardio and strength equipment as well as an outdoor yoga platform A boutique is located next to the spa entrance and the library Next to the boutique is a grab-and-go deli
