spending too much money on nerd island

I came all the way to Japan just to zip line into Godzilla's mouth that's it that's my intro hi I'm amand you're watching SP entertainment and that's mostly a joke I really came here just to watch Cars go fast when I found out there was also a Godzilla amusement park currently in Japan obviously I had to come see that now I actually found out about this from a bookstore in the San Anita mall okay they had flyers for the Godzilla operation aaji Island extraction situation okay I'm butchering the title but it looked so cool and I was sold entirely on the fact that you got to zipline into Godzilla's mouth to the point that I openly talked about it to everyone that I spoke to about why I was going to Godzilla Island and that's why I'm now denying scoo is's claim that I never told him that we would be going into ziplining into Godzilla's mouth because that's literally what I led every single conversation with about going to Japan when people said oh you're going for the race what else are you doing in Japan you're there for two weeks I'd be like I get to zipline into Godzilla's mouth and so he's like you never told me that that's false I definitely did decided today was a good day to go to aaji Island okay where they have quite a few themed amusement parks all right but the main reason we went was for Godzilla Island to the point that we got tickets in advance for it we had no idea how much it would like time it would take what it would be I just knew I get to zipline into Godzilla's map because obviously that's awesome we're sitting on a bench so I don't throw up the um taxi ride was a little a little uh we basically went all over a good chunk of the island I'm going to be honest it was treacherous it was there was a moment I thought we were going to d off the cff no it was no more treacherous than to say you know the Hollywood Hills so like that I wasn't worried about I wasn't worried about that I was just like this guy is going to kill us cuz he's getting so annoyed with us yeah there's quite a bunch of other things on the island the ones my assistant had mentioned were uh Naruto and spy family we could not find the Spy family one um it did end up raining so as much as we wanted to do everything that we could on this island we were only able to do three things because the rain when they said 300 p.m. they meant 300 p.m. that rain came down quick so it's a full park though so to actually get into the actual Park of aaji Island where we were at free Park walk on in Wander have fun there's a gift shop there's a bunch of little things there's stuff that is open to the public that does not cost anything Godzilla cost money the Dragon Quest thing we did cost money Naruto cost money I'm assuming other stuff in the park did but there was quite a bit that was just open and about and things like that and like photo spots nice places to sit enjoy mess around we had our time slot for Godzilla Island tickets for 11:12 but we were like okay we'll go walk around for a little bit right at the front was the Dragon Quest site scoo dis basically started filming at the mouth okay I'm going to be honest with you I know nothing about Dragon Quest I will not sit here and pretend to know anything about Dragon Quest but I'm always open for a good time so I was like you know we could we have an hour cuz it was literally like right at 10:00 when everything opened our time was until 11:00 for uh Godzilla so I was like we can go in and so we walked in and we ended up doing premium which I'll have prices here once I do the math cuz yen versus dollars and all of that but we both got premium tickets for uh Dragon Quest because it got you a bunch of extra stuff so first we have the Dragon's Quest backpack um it says Dragon Quest Island these detach you can adjust them things like that it's a fully functioning like pretty solid backpack so you can do this so that it's like actually like an armband but then you can also just hold it like this and then you have side Shield like this like it's a pretty really cool detail adjustable side strap full pocket in the back we go in pay obviously and then the thing here that I want to make a butonly clear and this is where scoo dis was like really excited and was like in awe kind of of the whole concept of this um this has been around for a while people know about this he thought it was boring going in he was like I want to see it cuz I've heard about it but he thought it was just these like static figures and that was the park that was the entirety of the park because their whole thing when we went in it's like listen you can take photos and videos but do not film the screens and do not film anything that is a spoiler so I'm not going to tell you the overall plot of what we did but I'm going to explain this experience to you because even as someone who does is not a fan of Dragon Quest and is not familiar with it this was very fun and very very cool and I really want to make that abundantly clear so you pick your characters you name your characters okay you decided what you are I was a thief he was clown I don't know he had a weird clown outfit um that was his whole stick they bring us into another room that has big screens again more saying do not film and we get a Quest from the King telling us what we need to go get again I'm keeping out very key details here but this is a full animation full voice acting all this stuff obviously everything is in Japanese but pretty much everything for um this park at the bottom had it in English as well um and that's been kind of the norm for pretty much everything in Japan so far that we've been to we literally on a quest right now in a video game so we have to go ask around and look for things we only have an hour before we have to go to Godzilla Island we're looking for the building with a star on it oh we also got these uh wristbands let's say uh Dragon Quest Island um but you also get a um ly is in my bag somewhere it's a um wristband with a little fob on it basically and you use that to get around and activate different things throughout the park I can show you the clips of the park obviously itself so like this is a very immersive experience like you were in town and you were in the forest then you're going to the heroes Hill yes okay all of that um to go into the evil Fortress and all of that there are statues of uh various characters and various uh figures everywhere as well those are also very cool very detailed which I liked just overall a very funny experience we were basically trying to speedrun this whole Quest because obviously we had a 11 times slot and it's basically 11 to 12 is the time slot so I was like our heart out is 11:30 like we can go till then uh scooters was loving it obviously uh you basically scan things you're you're you're battling you're getting stories you have to kind of go and figure things out it's like it's a full-on quest like you are full-on in a game doing this it's really really cool and just really interactive and really fun um I wanted on the record that I curb stomp scotish by a non-gamer curb stomped a full-time gamer when you first go and start talking to like the towns people and all of that and trying to like get started on your quest and figure out what you need to be doing to find the thing for the king they're like oh usually groups are parties of four let me get you some more people get assigned more people for like the characters you didn't pick for the start so if there's only one of you you'll get more people if there's three of you you'll get one more so that like you can still get like a full party basically for the group so um like I said I was a thief scooter was a gatab about and my HP was than his my HP was only 368 his was 542 number of critical hits 16 scooter number of critical hits seven sorry what was that 16 most damage dealt 298 scoo is 270 many medals found eight manyi medals found for scoo dis three just saying I'm prone to winning okay in sco's defense as well I was speedrunning this we managed to do the entire thing in an hour and 28 minutes I was speedr running it and trying to get as much done as possible and he was just like wow pretty much the entire time and then we got a photo at the end we did pay for this um I'll put it on the screen um but there's a green screen and all of that now I should note as well with Dragon Quest island problem here is that we started very high with a very fun very new experience and that was a mistake because it made the other things less impressive literally we went in order next Godzilla interception operation aaji National aaji Island Institute of Godzilla disaster ni I OG g d first you go in we gave our tickets and they emphasize like oh inside this building no filming that's pretty much the consistency thing is like if there's a screen they request that you don't film that's fair so we go into the building and there's like spots to stand and basically we were inside the Research Institute of uh interception Godzilla operation we get shown a uh full video little mini movie okay explaining why we have an inactive Godzilla on aaji island and it's the full story and the production value of this was crazy actually incredibly well done obviously it's like a different vein than like the animations and all of that of the Dragon Quest uh Park but this was very cool high production value like showing the different like how they like were alerted that a Godzilla was in the area and then how they're they have a whole plan of how they're going to make it inactive and drop a a nuke in its mouth or whatever and it's like okay here's the plan of how we're going to attack it from the ground levels and then you know they've managed like just I don't know just a really cool fun way of doing that and then it's like okay cool now we need to you're going to help us continue to monitor this inactive Godzilla because it is just inactive we can always become activated we have to do constant monitoring and that's when you get LED in to go sign away your uh make sure you don't Sue anyone and then you go and do the zip lining and this is where scoo dis claimed I had not told him about the zip lining I definitely did okay he's like I'm afraid of height so maybe I blocked that out he was fine go into the zipline spot you put all your bags all your belongings we did not have our phones with us we could not have them with us the way this zipline is you have to hold on with both hands I could not be filming the entire time that just wasn't going to happen they kept emphasizing is everything out of your pockets we were allowed to keep our glasses on but that was really it there's two track options there's one that goes outside of Godzilla where you go alongside his like body basically and then there's the one where you go inside the act the inactive Godzilla the one inside is longer they wanted to make that very emphasize it's not much longer but it it is a longer track so if you're worried about it being like too overwhelming for you the shorter one outside of Godzilla you're not in an enclosed space it's probably going to feel less overwhelming for you obviously I went first literally very little Fan Fair like hey okay cool uh do not jump we will push you okay get up on the third step hooked doll in hang on okay go just step down go go right on through It's cool cuz you just go straight into Godzilla's mouth and then there's a little bit of a strobe light and then the entire rest of him is unfinished finished just see open open ground it's just a cavernous hole you see the walls all of that and then you're through the other side and then you're just out on the platform it's cool it is really cool but I was also like okay you can't finish the the rest of the inside cuz it's like it's such a detailed cool experience the entire outside of the thing to like see and View and walk by that you would think they would at least like finish the hollow of inside of him so it feels more like you're in like his like digestive track or something I don't know it's also like the most mild of zip lines I've done I've done quite a few zip lines I've done them um on Catalan Island couple of Adventure Park uh zip lines and things like that this is definitely the most mild one it was not very fast um it's not particularly high I would say so if you're very worried about zip lines this is probably the most mellow one you can do and you get a really cool experience of going through Godzilla's mouth while you're doing this gum down and then that's when you're immediately go into the shooting thing this I was bad at I don't know if it was my glasses or what but the sight on my little zapper gun thing uh was not working basically you're just like I think you're shooting the the nodes of like oh this could be Godzilla's power building back up I think that if I'm understanding the story correctly so basically we're just trying to zap that and then I did something wrong uh but we couldn't understand what the langu we could understand what was being said my score kept going down so I ended up with a score of 17 and scooters ended up with a score of 1,800 oh oh God it's opening its nuclear mouth man I can't take him come anywhere you love me instead of going straight to the museum cuz that was the next step that we could do uh we decided to walk down cuz I had seen coming down through the stairs while I was waiting for scooter to come through I saw that they had more of the park set up so that you could see like Godzilla's tail kind of cornered off the whole thing is that he's inactive but he's also like buried partially underground basically wanted to go and see that which was really cool walk down there and this is when we also saw the one of the open bits of the park which was cool cuz again this isn't actual full-on Park area there's just a bunch of little uh spots attached Jes I'm refreshed they had little like stepping stones in the water and so I was like oh film me doing this and then he handed me my phone back I'm in a catch you're so you're so can we buy new socks I feel like new socks go really hard right now I'm sorry how did you even do that I didn't have my glasses on I don't even realize how we even did that cuz we weren't moving then we saw the Godzilla's tail and all that where it was butchered seeing that as well like Godzilla's mutilated like tail statue essentially with this like really beautiful image of all the cherry blossom trees like the petals falling down over it was like I don't know a really fun and cool thing to see that was really fun it's been beautiful here in Japan the entire time we've been here it's been great so we walked back up and went to the museum and the museum is really really cool because it's got like a bunch of the different images and also models from different movies and things like that and just kind of like the story of Godzilla through various movies and different properties which is really cool this is all the different tail Styles I guess or no PAW I think it's Tails I think it's just Tails we got some good photos with the Godzilla statue there's a couple of spots where you can actually like be on the platform next to like a scale down Godzilla and get photos with him and then there was a whole thing as well at the end where they said hey no no photos in here but basically you could pay to get another uh photo like of you like running or chasing or whatever from Godzilla and we just decided not to do that because we already spent a lot of money we wanted to go to the gift shop so we go through and go to the Godzilla gift shop now once again I was so ready to spend a ton of money I did spend money but I'm also upset because Mathra my queen why is this all that I could get there was literally like two figures of Mathra and then like a little like fluttery Wing thing they had this insane Mathra figure you're hanging in the the museum looks so cool and then this is what I get but I got a 1992 Mathra let's go I got Godzilla key holder look at this it doesn't squeak but it's so cool wrong entrance that's the entrance you pre-planned that and you no I was filming this and I was like he's going to come out the wrong set me up for fail I'm not a for your content we went and had lunch at the Quest Cafe spot mainly cuz SC just really really wanted to and then uh it was time to go and find Naruto because what we found was that every time we would go to one of these Parks even for Godzilla when we had paid in advance we got a 2,000 Yen vouchers for discounts for other islands for certain islands that were located one of them was the Naruto one and so we decided to go hunt for Naruto now again I should also know Godzilla Island very cool very much like that I got to zipline into Godzilla's mouth as far as things that you can do with that that's it you get the Godzilla's mouth you get the little shooting game you get the museum gift shop Food Spot the food also connected to the gift shop um was a little like toy play Spot that kids could do I didn't film anything in there it was cute it was like a little like Research Center they had it all set up like which with all the different like figures they could play with that was fun but very very little to do overall like once you've done that you're like okay cool yay fun like flash in the pan type of thing but that's kind of the nature of the park and the island is that you get to go and do a bunch of different things so then we went to Naruto it wasn't a mistake but I'm glad that we didn't do more basically there was the base option for general admission and then there was extra little Quest that you could add on to it when you do Buy in you do get the Naruto buruto Okay uh baggie that comes with little cross thing and it comes with more of the thousand yen vouchers cuz every time you go to one of these you got another one so the other one that was in was crayon shinchon Adventure Park that was the only one we didn't do that was in this section for participating attractions crayon shinan manga series we definitely didn't even need to go into the park here for this one because this little guy was just everywhere at this park they had little statues of him everywhere there was one with him without pants we were confused you definitely don't even necessarily need to go to this park I'm sure they have cute stuff in there they it seemed like they do but we saw quite a bit of this character in this park just kind of out and about this is part of General ADM Mission okay we didn't do any of the other quests cuz I was just kind of over it at that point I was like this is the last thing we're going to do cuz I'm my feet are killing me so anyways you get the scroll and this was the first one so you enter into the like Auditorium style in front of the um I'm be honest I haven't watched Naruto since I was like 10 okay sorry guys but then we do the obstacle course the three story obstacle course where you try and free Naruto we started the Maze and SC said immediately we're so I think you're going the wrong way course is you kind of go up and down you go around you go through things there's all these different doors basically the whole hand signal thing is that you have to use in front of mirrors do certain hand signals for the different don't ask me to then two each to unlock the doors however I realized whatever it was that was supposed to be activating was not activating so I there was one instance where sco was like okay I want to try cuz I kept opening the doors I the doors were not locked those ones weren't locked was able to open them no problem we speed ran this too but then we messed up because we missed two of the characters we were supposed to find cuz basically there are um character posters everywhere and you have to get into those sections to then get a stamp to then go through and then continue on to go get free Naruto from the top we missed Sara uchina and Kono Maru sarutobi we missed them we got everyone else's stamps we saved Naruto did miss two but no one has to know that other than you as far as accessibility goes for any of these not super accessible if you are not able to walk a lot just letting you guys know then we wed around more there was another Quest that we could do that was also included scooter did this I did not mainly cuz I'm going to be honest I was fried at this point I was tired but also scooter said it was not worth it this was throughout more of the park you're going through the different spots there was little challenges and things like that I was just making content and getting footage and things like that the figures here are very very clear I want to make that clear very detailed very cool uh certain spots obviously you can't get super close to them but there's a lot of photo opportunities in Naruto Park specifically Naruto baruto Park scoo dis finishes his thing and he's like okay I want to go turn this in I was like okay go in there I'll stay out here and he told me later it was another video thing I was like oh how was it when he came out and he said that was not worth it that was not the same thing because for Dragon Quest cuz I again I'm not familiar with Dragon Quest so I was like are we just watching game footage basically and he's like no all the characters that we saw are from the game for the most part or at least the style of artist from the game but like that was a whole new story that we saw this what it was was that there was some animation but for the most part it was just static image and then there was like a a whole whole thing where they had to hold the scroll over a strobe light and it showed something cool they used black light I don't think it's going to work here without anything but it basically you had to cover your face with this for the black light to look at it so then you're blocking when the animation starts for the next bit of the video clip and then at one point the lights happen and there's like these super cool photorealistic figures of Sasuke and Naruto I believe he said and uh he's like but like that's behind you and there's stuff happening on the screen so you have to watch the screen and then you can't take photos or videos with them but like that's what's cool because they're nowhere else in the park and then you're just done and I was like ah okay so he also we just basic both agreed that like that was the least fun part of it but again obviously I don't really watch Naruto he barely cares about Naruto I don't know anything about Dragon Quest he loves Dragon Quest I had fun cuz there was a lot to do with Dragon Quest he had fun because it was Dragon Quest I had fun God cuz of Godzilla he had fun at Godzilla but it was also like there just wasn't a lot at Godzilla all in all I would definitely do a waji again we would have stayed more we would have found more stuff to do we probably would have gone to a different part of the island to go see if there was anything else we could do because there was a ferris wheel as well that we saw from the car from the bridge we went over I believe was the longest suspension bridge in the world fun little thing but like we probably would have explored the island a little bit more and tried to go to a different spot as well um if it weren't for the fact that like the brain started and wouldn't stop so all in all I highly recommend checking out aaji there's a lot to do here um but again it's like you're kind of getting what you pay for for some of these spots and some things are definitely more fun than others um but like I want to say as far as Dragon quests go Dragon Quest hands down was the best it's very interactive very fun and there was a lot to do even for someone like me who doesn't know anything about this game Godzilla was cool they have a bunch of stuff going right now for Godzilla minus one currently I believe for all of April uh in their Museum that's very fun part of uh to get into the museum
