the overnight channel it has been a little while we filmed our uk series that we were posting throughout the year we haven't filmed a paranormal investigation in a few months now yeah but we're back and we're at a location i've been trying to come visit for three years now you've been here twice yep if you can't tell it is the winchester mystery house and what's more fun is matt's with us and josh flew in i'm excited i'm really excited for this i've been wanting to do it for a while so i'm fanboying right now this is uh this is day one of our road trip so we have an entire california road trip mapped out with winchester mystery house uss hornet preston castle kennedy mines and the argonaut mines the queen mary except we are wasting no time not wasting but we're spending no time on a historical tour it is just paranormal the whole way through and lastly this has been asked from us for about six years now whaley house let's go finally finally got the whaley house they have new ownership and they're allowing people to come and film there so whaley house will be the end of this road trip series i'm excited so put your bids in now in the comments section for how many times they say 160 rooms the dance room the witch's cap memorabilia room the bedroom in which he died in is here the basements here can you imagine having a one night stand in this house and be like yeah let yourself out the walk of shame takes you three years you know what this almost looks like it almost looks like a toy house yeah yeah you really look at it it feels like someone built like a miniature of this 100 it looks fake yeah it looks like somebody painted it with a tiny little paint brush like i feel like you would see this at disneyland i love it i love it it looks like a set house yeah i'm excited the winchester mystery house has captivated paranormal investigators all around the world for nearly a century with over 12 million visitors including ghost adventures mythbusters buzzfeed unsolved and even harry houdini himself the intriguing history of sarah winchester and the reason her home was built this way still captivate all who enter any of the many doors and even those that lead to nowhere located in san jose of northern california the home is notorious for its bizarre architecture it is considered to be one of the world's longest home renovations spanning over 36 years stopping only when sarah winchester passed away she was in fact solely responsible for the construction of the home as no architects were hired whatever she wanted built was built 24 000 square feet 160 known rooms 10 000 windows 2 000 doors two basements three elevators six kitchens 47 stairways and fireplaces secret passages skylights in the floor and trap doors to this day no blueprint has been found for the construction a labyrinth of wood filled with windows doors and staircases a home you could spend hundreds of hours in and still not see it all yet why this home rests the way it is today is the reason we are here and the hauntings that are equally a part of the home as much as the floors and walls within it some even say the designs inside the home contained puzzles full of encryptions hidden signs in the ballroom and theories that sarah was part of the secret society after all it is known that during the entire span of the construction for 36 years sarah would hold nightly seances with good spirits to ward off the vengeful ones a room in the center of the home with one entrance yet three exits she would always keep the key with her and always go in alone yet even having her own seance room may not be that strange considering sarah would sleep in a different room every night utilizing secret passageways to confuse the spirits that haunt her the home built like a maze to keep a constant distance between sarah and the ghosts that haunt her but what led to this fear constant construction and financial means to be able to continually build all comes back to one thing her last name winchester as she is the direct heir to the winchester rifle fortune a weapon responsible for taking countless lives throughout many battles yet as the winchester family amassed more wealth from their weapons more ill-fated events seem to occur to the family a series of strange deaths occurred within a 20-year span one of which was her six-week-old daughter this led to an increased paranoia of a family curse the paranoia became fear when her husband inherited the winchester fortune and three months later died as well these tragedies gave her a looming feeling of being haunted with this darkness gnawing at the opportunity to take hold of her next desperate for answers she sought out a medium for advice and the answer she was told her family was cursed because of the rifles they had sold the ghosts of all whom died from the winchester rifle were vengeful and would never rest they would continually feek her out until they could equally lay fate to her her final instruction from the medium was to leave connecticut and move as far west as she could to buy a home and never stop building once she did the spirits would catch up to her and claim her life as well in 1886 construction of the home began and never stopped seven days a week day and night hammer and nail sunrise after sunrise time nor money mattered another wall could mean another day of life another window could be another week staircase a month all of this lasted until september 5th 1922 nearly 100 years ago she passed away in her sleep upon the news of her death all of the workers abruptly left leaving half-hammered nails in the wall they left out of fear for the mansion itself and they dared not spend another second longer in the home it was without doubt that we among millions of others believe this home to be haunted with an endless amount of secrets still to be found seances to be held spirits to speak with perhaps communication with sarah herself a single night here is never enough we were given an opportunity to do a paranormal investigation in this home although only a few hours we made the most of it entering the home in awe and leaving in shock and respect documented paranormal evidence of phantom voices sighs tugs on clothing doorknobs turning themselves and full bodied apparitions there is nearly as much paranormal evidence as there second home a lot of people ask who cleans the house it's us tour guide so okay i know like back in my hand uh you know i walk around the house by my house by myself all the time so yeah stuff happen whenever you guys are cleaning yeah yeah i have a few stories now where you know i think i'd take it i can take a break for a second and sit down and i hear someone bang on the wall you know here yeah yeah dude all right you don't get scared no more yeah well i didn't say that he didn't make it faster yeah yeah hard too you know uh yeah you guys want to get started let's do it yeah let's do it oh dude we're gonna get lost at nighttime yeah 100 when the lights are out yeah if we split up we're definitely getting west west west it's just all small rooms like mazes everywhere like four o'clock just keeps going i'm all right there's so many on this dude this is like three percent of the place dude this is like 3 000 the staircase nowhere right here staircase to nowhere oh wow how would you go in there well is there a case of nowhere yeah oh you can see there you go evan it's also known as the staircase to my future all right man this is a stepping stone bro keep going up all the way up oh yeah why is this here keep going so that would pop up oh that's cool come on up josh i'm coming let's all go come on come on come on keep going josh come on up no corey come on we're going damn come on up come on wow this is my type of nowhere yo come on come on come on it was so hot no kyle get up here seriously i thought that was evan yeah music make you just want to dance feel it feel it just another thing about this house it was mainly designed by sarah winchester this might be the only picture of her taken here on the estate and you can't tell because she's sitting down on the carrots but she actually stood at a whopping four feet ten inches tall yeah that's very tall that said she did design this house for herself and that's why we have a switchback staircase that has 44 steps seven complete turns and we'll travel over 100 feet in length to get just nine feet above to the second floor so follow me watch your step one that's oh i gotta see this all right why why wait why did i actually build it like this though why well you know what she had arthritis and uh it was hard for her to lift her feet more than a few inches the older she got so these are called easy risers but uh as you can tell they're actually just easier to trip on you know yeah this is really inconvenient oh is this it is this the hidden room this is the halo oh my god cory's just yeah just mobbing wow dude for some reason i feel like our channel will be so much scarier but that was your actual height if you heard the board with 10 goes up i don't know what that would be imagine me just running with a k2 and it will cancel so from here we'll head to her bedroom uh i think the next stop we should go to that's the room she actually died at right this way oh it might have been that window there the plastic bag on it but uh when we were giving halloween tours a few years back one of our tour guides was standing here uh in the dark you know kind of i think they're just doing security you know uh but they're waiting here and that window right there i don't know where it broke by itself just like shattered just shattered right by the right here yeah but is it by like an angry ghost or something you don't know so at that time uh we think that the tours or at least the nature of the tours you know it was upsetting sarah because they had someone dressed up like her scaring people around the house so you have other windows around the house that just broke by themselves out of nowhere after being here over 100 years wow if that makes sense yeah i mean do you imagine dressing up as a fake owner of the house and just scaring people i'd be pissed yep so this is your bedroom wow that headboard uh this is her husband owner of the winchester repeating arms company they were married in 1862 and they had a daughter who died after six weeks in 1866. now she did eventually die in this room uh on september 5th in 1922 of heart failure in her sleep but she is buried on the east coast with her husband and daughter people feel uncomfortable in the certain times but all right next up from here would be the seance room have you guys ever mind getting a circle with joint hands real quick please yeah please please let's go um last time we all started levitating so oh true yeah oh no but it says she'd come in here and hold her seances uh you know that was a there's an eight-foot drop into the kitchen scene you know uh dropping for a midnight snack if you want but uh yeah she could just summon food up in the kitchen she gets done with this sauce and just pours rice out the door uh come in here and lock and close this door behind her she was the only one in here she'd bring that bell at midnight and 2 a.m every night to summon them release the spirits to and from seances not only that the weird thing about this room there's one entrance but there's three exits the first of course is that doorbell just came through the second is that door on the right with it wouldn't advise you use that the drop doom yeah of course uh so we do have the third and final exit the closest thing to a secret passageway here mansion pardon me real quick but move past it here oh so um you may or may not have noticed the door over here to my right and when i open it you'll see there's a latch on one side not the other so when you walk through this door and it closes behind you there is no coming back so can we break that yeah and get in there also hi elton wait that's it yep and then close it yep what's on the other side well it's our next stop hell tan what's it like in there can you hear me here open the door elton now open the door oh one of those windows that broke by themselves during those halloween tours a few years back oh dead center too it was it was all during the halloween tours yep it never happened before it hasn't happened yo sauer's really just busting her own house out wow so because of all the sans seances that was happening here do you think they brought more ghosts here from the portals that they may have opened uh that's very possible you know you never know who you're inviting in yeah how do you know how many ghosts are estimated to be in the house 13. no i'm just going no no way i've seen that movie we're getting out of here there are 13 windows in this room as well there's 11 there and two here if you want to check out that room uh where the earthquake happened that could be our next stop right down the staircase now uh where's this over here this is called the 7-elevens because you got seven stairs step or seven steps on this side and then you go up the next 11 on the other side so right this one one two three four five six seven we literally went down just to come back up this house is a mess i mean that's relationships that's true that's true dude on a serious note we can get seriously lost here like i thought when they were saying it at first like oh we can't get lost but what we're here oh that's true we can't get lost we're actually here if you don't know oh we're in the hogwarts yeah got it this is the room where me and aaron were filming and we caught someone walking behind us like you can literally see a straight up figure just walking behind us and it was it was right back here sick feeling in my stomach all right we'll head up to the haunted floor next right this isn't all the other every floor is haunted but this one's especially hot i guess awesome so now we're on the haunted floor but every other floor does look on it too so why is this the hard floor well this is the floor with the most activity this is where the staff members live with their families so um we think they still live here but we'll head down here to this unfinished part the little uh there are low ceilings and pipes so do watch your head it looks grungy right yeah yo this is my favorite room this is the witch's hat the witch's cap yeah which is cast which is that that's it they say this may have been the original seance room before uh this part of the house is boarded up after the earthquake yeah so you got the witch's cap now this whole part of the third floor is weird but uh this room it's cool because if you stand in the middle and you look up and you talk you can hear your boys bounce off the walls around witch's cat oh that's cool yo put me in the booth this is crazy i'm about to drop some fire sound cloud links this lady tried charging me 200 to give me my future this witch's cap wow wow that's terrible thank you dog yo i'm in the winchester mansion i gotta get out of here so i can go crisscross and see chris hanson i gotta go headwear shopping i need something in a snap i can't make up my mind which cat oh my god okay that was fire okay all right i'm in the witch's cap the haunted floor what's the third floor yes now uh i was giving flashlight tours one time and i was walking down this narrow hallway and i came to this room and uh when i was walking down the hall i thought i heard like a little kid following me so all right that would walk ahead of my guest because i make the look for me in the dark kind of you know so uh i was walking ahead and i thought a kid was following me i turned back and there was no one there so when i stopped in this room in the dark by the way pitch black uh it just sounded like not footsteps but there's like pressure on the ground next to me and like someone was standing on the floor next to me but uh after that we all stuck together of course creepy yeah so you have the central guardians area down there i had an uncle who used to do security and the way they used to do it is they would have one staff member from various departments but one at a time overnight by themselves and my uncle he was doing his rounds he said at three in the morning but he looked up to this fourth floor and you see these doors here uh inside and outside he said he saw the door swinging open and closed by themselves but that was from the wind but that still meant that he had to uh come in this house when he was the only one on the entire state in the middle of the night when all the lights were off so the house was pitch black but he had to come up to the fourth floor and close these doors but when he got up here the doors were already locked and closed from the inside so it goes closer for him yeah what you're saying yeah wow dude if i work security here i would turn on all the lights anytime anything happens whole house lit up or just never turn the lights off at all dude look at how small this is this isn't a handrail to hit right now he says don't touch this don't touch it this is original josh oh you're right what are you doing right now i'm holding it and how do you hold something uh with your spirits you believe in it you're a hypocrite this guy has a picture right here uh on the right with the white overalls and mustache he's been seen uh working for mrs winchester until this very day uh the basement uh most definitely which is right over here this is where we enter the basement uh you've been seeing in the ballroom fixing a fireplace or just pushing his wheelbarrow around him what's his name again oh we call him clyde we don't know his actual name we don't think it's actually clyde but that's just the name that's been coined brim here and uh that's how we refer to him so do people see him like in like full apparition like a living person or still kind of like yeah yeah they ask who's the actor we have no actors uh just clyde open these doors here head into the basement oh [ __ ] oh come down here watch your step right down the stairs there's a we didn't go to the back porch area but we can we can stop and see the picture of the guy that uh they see down here in the basement oh there's a guy down here yeah so i can show you over here what thanks oh yeah dude so right down this alleyway this is where you see the uh man in the photo right outside the back right there come on where i'm most commonly you know pushing his wheelbarrow up and down the sidewalk yeah go ahead it's pretty creepy back there and now it's a wall oh well right here we have the one the only door to nowhere go ahead open it up allison the door go ahead go take us to the next room right there and watch it the other step always just open it and then we'll go in confidently walk through that door yeah we'll be behind you confidently confidently like like it's money like you're like how about this sister one of you blindfolds me okay opens the door and i'll just catwalk with coffee that seems safest yeah should we hunt some ghosts let's hunt some guys dude we have a bunch of new tools we have a lot of familiar ones but we have some unique ones we've replaced our dowsing rods that have been broken these are now copper and they're welded so they're not going to break we have remember what patty had us do one time where we had the really kind of drew by using her device you know like a ouija board don't put your hands on it the same concept you put the pencil through here and you just whatever it draws it draws and then you see if it makes anything out when you're done interesting and then that's what the notebook's for as well so everything whenever we do it we'll just draw it and you know sick and then we have this yes what what is this elsa the scale and when you tip the scale or when something tipped to scale it lights it up that's cool that is absolutely nice and stuff right based on something built in the 1800s by thomas edison so looks like a mini generator super simple all you can do is tilt the scale dude that's how escobar used to weigh his um products his grass and stuff yeah his grass and the last thing that we have that's new for tonight is something else based on the 1800s this is the first before there were ouija boards there were spear communicators so it's the same thing but it's just linear so you put it down fingers on it and it just scales up and down
