My First Day Back in Siem Reap, Cambodia
and man I made it back to the kingdom of Wonder baby I've made it back to Cambodia I'm so excited to be back this year feels like a second home 3 years no tourist huh oh me DI I you died I know very country any guesses it's actually not a new country I'm just no longer in China I'm in Sim Reap Cambodia and I'm so happy to be back here this is one of my favorite countries it's a country that man I love and I hold near and dear to my heart it's a very special place and there's a lot of misconceptions about this country that's why I keep coming back and I keep making new videos the Cambodian people are some of the kindest in the world and let me just tell you guys man the food is some of the best I've found in Southeast Asia so I'm super glad to be back here right now I'm at the new sim reap airport it's very beautiful and the air conditioning is cranked extremely high if you're in here you feel like you need a sweater but I'll tell you what the moment you walk outside it is hot man it's 30° C uh not much more different than uh China Malaysia Thailand same climate but yeah here we are guys see Reef wow this is beautiful I wonder where that is and yeah this airport is newly built I believe it's only around a year or two old it is located about an hour outside the city so today I did end up booking a driver private transfer on getyourguide.com not sponsored at all I found myself a driver for $30 for a private car and we're about to make the journey over to the city center of se but today I'm going to film my first day back we're going to go have some good kamay food and I don't know what I'm going to get into this week to be honest there's a lot planned a lot on the itinerary I got a Tuk Tuk IR rented it's going to be a good time and I'm also black back with glattus hello guys how are you I'm so happy so happy to be back yeah to be in Cambodia I never thought I was coming twice in my life yeah the first time gladus was like oh I hope we get to make it back why do you why did you hope that because we only had one day at anchor wat and it's gladus is like favorite place in the world I love it I love it yeah it's one of my favorite places i t to go to what that game all right let's put the camera down immigration time I must say man I don't I don't remember this airport too much last time I flew in here I wasn't feeling the greatest I remember arriving going straight through security and leaving but it's actually very neat man I like it here it's very modern they got a little uh currency exchange over here but for those of you guys who don't know uh here in Cambodia they also use the US dollar as long along with the real which is nice avoids a lot of confusion all right I believe this here is our flight let's see if our baggage has made it okay and here's my bag man it's always a good day when it makes it from a connection all right damn that thing is heavy I don't know how we got that one through now we've managed to avoid two Air Asia double weigh-ins I don't know how but uh two times they avoided the scale and Air Asia is like the worst Airline guys it's so man I don't know they charge you for absolutely everything they weigh your bags um once again at the gate it's kind of a pain in the ass but they were the only ones offering a whatat decent flight uh to seam reap the other ones were about $400 to get here so we spent $50 plus another $50 on luggage all right one more Security check and then I'll I'll talk to you guys once we make it out all right let's find our driver guys we are a little late it's been about 40 minutes that since we were supposed to be here and there should be one that says Christopher Rodriguez where is it oh right here how's it going brother sorry we were delayed bad weather oh man look right outside the airport they got ATM machines SIM cards Circle K all the things you need time to go eat some a amok yeah that's one of the meals we miss the most but I also really love like that Cambodian beef salad ooh and another perfect place for us to go eat should we go to Nick's Restaurant today yeah yeah we should go check up on Nick and see how she's doing huh I think that' be nice and I can play for bamboo sticky rice yeah bamboo sticky rice we found that in Anchor huh last time we were here together glattus made a good series here in Cambodia last time guys I would love for you to go and check that out an going to make so many more videos while we're here but uh right now our shuttle is pulling up we couldn't be more excited man the views outside right now especially during around sunset time man unreal I definitely recommend get yourself a window seat if you're flying into SIM re you're going to enjoy it all right here's our driver are you from Cambodia yeah from SIM SIM very nice place big ones first all wow this is a nice van so yeah guys you can get this private transfer for $30 imagine if you come here with a group of people nice bang for your buck right there now they do have like uh cheaper shuttles airport buses things like that which are convenient if you're coming alone but if you're coming with more than one person this is the move all right rolling around in luxury today private van let's go I love it I love it too all right guys see you in a few minutes man I'm excited to be back you guys didn't think I was coming back but I had to I got to go get some food in us so yeah we've ran into quite a bit of traffic but it feels so good to be back here and seeing all the little MPA mechanic shops all the street food stalls this here is a gas station wow look at this Market guys man I got to get out there and make a video video in there holy cow that looks amazing hold on let me Mark that on my spot I'm coming back there all right man this place is active yeah it feels so good to be back here you always know when you're in comodia when you see the guys coming by on the tractors yeah they like ride these huge like lawn tractors that are extremely long they're not like a typical Big John Deere tractor I don't know how I can show you guys hopefully there's another one that comes by oh and then I love seeing all of these motorcycle carriages now I always call the uh carriages on the back of the motorbikes Rick Shaws but I know they're called something else here I just keep forgetting I don't know I always forget the name for them oh look this my favorite place is to come by and get gas in Cambodia No Cap oh the excitement is real man you know why I like Cambodia so much is because it's a very like I told you guys the beginning man it's a very underrated Country For the Rest of Southeast Asia everybody flocks to Thailand everybody flocks to um Vietnam Indonesia and then most people we meet they miss here I don't understand why this is like one of the it's so close but it's so it's so untouched um compared to those other nations now don't get me wrong it's developing it's getting a lot very modern very quickly so if you still want to see Cambodia the way that it is man you got to come out here now but I guarantee you in the next few years man this place is going to be booming they're already building incredible shopping centers the roads are incredible the airport is beautiful um so many new developments coming out and man this country is going to be competing with Thailand pretty soon I mean a lot of expats are already moving here um they've been for many years and it's just such a such a unique country man I just really enjoy it here and I have a feeling that if you guys come on out here especially those of you that are Cambodian man it's you got that Kamai blood and you've never made it here to Cambodia bro I don't know what you're doing like if you're watching from the states or from Europe and your family is from here get your excuse my language get your ass out of out here man like you have to come to Cambodia it is unreal um over the course of the next few weeks I'll be showing that uh to you guys through the videos but yeah we're only about another H 10 minutes or so uh from the town so it looks like right now a lot of kids are getting out of going it blows my mind how many are driving motorcycle scooter look at these kids man there's three of them on a bike and they're just smashing y I wish that would have been me as a kid and yeah they're all on like beach cruisers huh and cycling like in bicycles yeah it's awesome to see man what a beautiful transfer and now we have made it to the hotel than sure thank you sir thank you oh man I love this place so much don't do that at home yeah she she yells at me way too much for doing that I am that kind of person I'll just come home and jump in but look at the pool guys you beautiful view the Gym's right there now I'm not going to lie the gym sucks it needs some work but who knows maybe they fixed it last time I came in here though I I told them that that the gym sucked but yeah beautiful hotel do you know what G it's raining so I think the best beted is a stay because look at the pool I can see the drops you can see all the drops huh yeah all right well let's go down and look at the menu maybe we eat food man and I'm excited to see Nick uh little funny story about Nick you'll see her hopefully right now I hope she's there if not we'll come back later on this week and visit her but funny thing about Nick is week came right after Co when her business first opened and it was man tiny little hole in the wall Place very beautiful good food that's never changed but man her business has grown so much over the years and now she has like you know pretty decent sized Facebook page for a local restaurant she's expanded her business and now it's like two sides you haven't seen that yet really I remember only like five stable SM and the Hello Kitty scooter yeah yeah Nick has like a Hello Kitty scooter but um man I'm so proud of this girl man she's a hustler she's built her uh business so big now and the food is such great quality that look this is the first place I'm coming back to to eat when I touch down in Cambodia now uh right now we are only about 5 minutes away from her restaurant but I hope she's there because I actually made a video at her restaurant a few few months back uh right after she did some remodeling and a lot of you guys have sent me pictures at a restaurant a lot of you have told me that you've come and visited her and that means the world to me that's what I make these videos for guys so that you guys can see and meet people through the Through My Lens and then also come back and support the local economy that's the most important part that's awesome happens with Mee from Thailand the whole time she's always sending us pictures from you guys with ha at her little Chub on the street in the middle of Chinatown and it's so happy to see that you support locals as well yeah that's man that makes my heart so full but yeah I can't wait to start exploring a I'm so excited to be back this year feels like a second home now I'll give you guys a little backstory as we're making our way down there one of the reasons why I love this country so much like I told you guys in the beginning it has a really it's it's it's been misinterpreted by the I guess the the Western World all right A lot of people think that you know there's no infrastructure here it's a lot less developed um it's not as safe but that is completely false Man In fact when you come here you find the most humble people it's it is not as developed as uh Thailand as um Indonesia Manila and the Philippines but it's getting there as it's getting there there's progress and the people are what make this country great and let me just tell you guys something they also have anchor want here which I don't know how is not a seven Wonder but it is more impressive than damn near every seven wonder of the world that I visited wonder of the world what to feel like that the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil shouldn't be one I'm going to be honest that shouldn't be one um it should replace that spot but yeah okay not not more impressive than all of them the pyramids Machi picu those are impressive okay uh Petra impressive but anchor watch should be there um in that same category yeah and I think they should extend at least to 10 to 10 at least huh yeah there's a couple other cool places of that place how they build anchor it's not only anchor what it's anchor it's a City full with temples and it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen and I cannot wait to be there oh my God that's s in front of we're going to do a sunrise a sunset another Sunrise John Temple is like something from it's out of this world yeah like from a then they got the to prom Temple which is like the um Indiana Jones Temple Tom Rider Tomb Raider Tomb Raider Indiana Jones Tomb Raider guys I'm bad with movies but it's beautiful definitely a a place worth visiting and besides that the local people it's so lovely and you know what J this on develop I am from a third world country as well I am from Venezuela and you guys have here something we don't have tourist and that is so like something you got to be proud like oh my God tourists you know turn the eyes and come here and that's what Chris and me of course want to do with these videos encourage more people to come and visit Cambodia so that way the economy keeps growing yeah and you as a tourist see beautiful things um meet local people and help them you know help the economy yeah and man the food's really good yeah I don't know what else to say man the Tuk ts are cool these here are called um I forgot what they're called hello I forgot what these things are called hello that's what I'm saying man people in the Kamai people is something special in their heart man they're so such lovely people and I think it has to do with um man all of the recent sufferings like uh just my age ago I mean there was a lot of terrible things that were Happening Here in the country or or slightly past um 30 years ago recent history very recent history and I think that's made the people very strong and um it's a very resilient country you can tell that Kamai people are very resilient and it doesn't matter what kind of obstacles you put in front of them they're going to find a way to bounce back and um move forward and I think you'll be able to see that over the course of these next few videos especially if you go back and watch my videos from 2 3 years ago you'll notice a drastic difference oh wow this is a school very beautiful so yeah we're going to be filming a lot here guys so don't don't judge me off this first video man I just really wanted to come on here and chop it up with you guys because I've been I've been talking about this day for since the day I left left since I left here in February early March of this year I've been dying to come back and we're actually going to come back like a month and a half ago but I ended up going to China first then our group trip happened and um now I'm here so it is what it is I made it and I'm happy to be here the big series is on the way last time I was only here for five 6 days now I'm here for two full weeks oh man look at the little baby he's chilling right there he's big chilling yeah all right guys I'll catch up with you here in a minute wow guys it's so different than when the last time you were here huh you you came right after covid and there wasn't a lot of people now it's so busy three years no tourist huh I you died I know very approaching like Pub Street yeah man downtown Seemy Good Vibes man the past the corner oh it feels great to be back all right now we're only a few blocks away from uh Nick's Restaurant wow I me the miniatur so much the mini chairs at the restaurants yes what is this Ry hey what's up bro man this here is Pub Street too guys I'll show you this later on this week man it's wild over here I have to go live actually on this street but yeah man it feels so good to be back I keep saying that because it just man my heart's full and I love seeing the change here I love seeing how many people are coming here it's so busy look at these streets man so many chucks in this street I remember walking through here that was empty yeah hello man so many great places to hang out hello all right we're until now there's a lot of people keep watching the video they said like um before they come here they search on the uh uh internet like where to go uh eat at the uh Sim R and then they find your video and then they says follow your video and come here yeah there's a lot of people you know some of the videos on uh on Facebook got like millions of views it's crazy I did not expect that they the videos here did amazing yeah but everybody it's also because all of your food is really good everybody comes by and then they want to come again and multiple times during their trip yeah yeah I'm so happy to hear that thank you that makes me so happy last time I were uh talking to him like where have you been cuz nor you guys come and travel together and now you come he said like for next time you will come and yes now you are the problem is that she lives in Venezuela very far we're from two different countries so she lives across yeah across the world so sometimes she goes visit her mom and I travel yeah you know the Water festival is uh going to happen soon in this month 15 16 right 14 15 and 16 we leave on the 15th so we're only going to have one day you have one day yeah you have one day but it's going to be good right even on the first day it's fun it's fun has a lot of food they are uh doing like uh selling along the river and you can see some activity that local people do okay that would be fun what is the national holiday called uh Water Festival yes oh okay they're raising the wow all right so we just sat down man Nick such a wonderful lady and first time meeting her husband more power to them and this restaurant is gorgeous if you're looking for a nice place to eat in Sim reap this is the one look this is something new uh she has weekday specials now for $44.50 you can choose a main course her burgers are incredible guys avocado and fried egg sandwich avocado and bacon sandwich then you could choose a side either fries onion rings or a salad and a drink it even includes a beer you can get a beer for $4.50 and then look at this amazing menu guys she has of course all kinds of uh breakfast items Rice and Noodles snacks and salads um a bunch of K food oh the amach I love that so much look at this lak oh man I think I'm going loac no joke that's what I think I'm getting right now lak you just reminded me of that I love it so much and then yeah soup noodles Thai food all kinds of good stuff and of course a lot of Western Foods you got steaks fish and chips chicken fingers man definitely one of those places you got to come and check out um I think I'm sold now beef lak beef lowak for me o now I don't know what with that pepper sauce oh yeah beef L Lo for me oh wow look at this tum yum spaghetti what tum yum spaghetti that sounds crazy huh we also have Thai food so but we just left Thailand yeah now the series is actually going to I don't know how the series is going to come out but if you see Thailand videos before you saw them before or you see them after you saw them after I don't know Life's too short to be worried about all that stuff you know what I mean I'm just going with the flow but I think I want to show you guys Cambodia one on there I can't just watch her do that one of my favorite dishes in Cambodia and seriously oh that's so good if you haven't had Cambodian food before search for a local Kamai restaurant in your area I'm sure there's one go and try some guys it's insane but yeah this stuff is so good and I love it with that little pepper sauce in there m delicious unreal H those fries delicious all right no more talking we're going to smash this food was incredible man I'm so grateful that all of you guys have stopped by and visited Nick's Restaurant when you are in the area that means the world to me she was super grateful and man just so happy and that makes me super happy now right now I think we're actually about to just oh man to be honest after all that that long travel day and then that big
