- Hello, Tangerineys, from the beautiful Oaxacan Coast. I'm here with the lovely My Trish Advisor, Ouch! And rocks that I'm stepping on, to celebrate my 30th birthday! - Super awesome. - Today is going to be amazing. And how exactly did we find ourselves here? Well, Trish flew from Puerto Morelos.

I came from Querétaro and we met at the Huatulco Airport. From there, we took a 20 minute taxi for 250 pesos to Dreams, an all-inclusive resort, where we spent two nights. - Hello from Huatulco! Oh, it's video! - I'm just gonna stand here like a statue in the background.

(Trish laughs) - This is a beautiful statue I found. (laughs) Yay, all this- - It's just us, the ocean, and the crabs! - Who's the crabs? (laughs) - We got crabs. - Oh, we got the crabs. (laughs) No! We've got crabs, we've got lots of crabs. (laughs) The rumors have begun. - [Maddie] The rumors have started.

After that, we took another taxi for 600 pesos. That was an hour and 12 minute drive from Dreams, to our next hotel called Casa Bichu, which is located in a small beach town near Puerto Angel. And that brings us to you today.

Close to the hotel, there's three different beaches that you can go on. We found our way over here to the third one, where you can get a fresh coconut, with mezcal in it, for 100 pesos. (speaking in Spanish) Is it okay if I record? Of course.

(speaking in Spanish) Mezcal in a bacardi bottle. - (speaking in Spanish) This is the good one. - (Maddie speaking in Spanish) - (speaking in Spanish) Okay, you want to drink a little? Okay.

(speaking in Spanish) Mmm!! Really sweet. - [Maddie] (speaking in Spanish) Thank you! Amazing. - You can also find a margarita with mezcal in it. (laughs) - Just like that.

Let's ive this guy a try. Come here, big buddy. - Oh my goodness, that is strong. So strong. - [Trish] Does it have coconut in there? - Yeah, is there any coconut water left in this? Holy heck! And then we're sitting here. We got a table in the shade under this awesome palapa.

Got a view out to the ocean where we can hear the waves crashing. This is just - And we got I mean and our feet in the sand. - And a guy making a net behind you. - Oh yeah, this guy's literally making a net over here. That's gotta take some serious patience.

Meanwhile, I'm over here just (sighs) rubbing my feet in the sand, squishing in my feet, listening to the- I wanna do some snorkeling. No, some norkeling. Yeah, I wanna do some snorkeling. - [Trish] Norkeling? - Norkeling. Let's do some norkeling, okay? (both laugh) Now, the time has come to meet the fishies. - We're gonna go norkeling! (laughs) - Norkeling. Meet the fishies with Trishies.

(both laugh) - Fishies and Trishies. - And don't I look cute? Hat hair mixed with I haven't washed my hair also for two days. (Trish laughs) Don't tell anyone.

- [Trish] The ocean will wash it. - Yes, exactly. I can't believe the fish... Some of them the size, how big they were, how colorful.

I love those little tiny blue ones. They were iridescent neon blue. Is neon blue a thing? They were neon blue. - Neon blue. - I was a little bit scared of the needle fish, cause I always feel like they're gonna sneak up behind me and poke me in the booty or something. Gracias. Got another mezcal here, and they cut my coconut in half so I can eat the carne.

(Trish exclaims) But you were saying there were blowfish out there too? I don't know which ones those are. - [Trish] These two blow- Not Blowfish. Is that what they're called? - [Maddie] Puffer fish. Blowfish. But I think it's the same thing. - [Trish] Yeah, I call them puffer fish and they were blue.

And usually you see them kind of a yellow or a tan color. Yeah, they're cool. - I like the vibe here. Everybody's so nice. And it's very undiscovered almost.

- It feels hidden. - It is like a hidden gem. Hate to just throw that phrase out there because it's so cliche, "hidden gem." But you know, it is. Here we have our fresh plastic fish. - (laughs)

- (speaking in Spanish) With this we will prepare the barrilete ceviche. - [Trish] Barrilete. - (speaking in Spanish) This is "el bonito". "El bonito" is part of the tuna family. Its meat is red.

Really good with an impressive flavor. - [Trish] (speaking in Spanish) - (speaking in Spanish) Look, this is the fish's... - [Maddie] Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh! - (speaking in Spanish) That's its gill. - [Maddie] What? - (speaking in Spanish) Very fresh.

(Trish exclaims) Wow! - [Trish] (speaking in Spanish) How amazing! - [Maddie] (speaking in Spanish) But of plastic. (Trish laughs) No. (laughs) (Trish gags) It does, it looks fake though. - [Trish] It does look fake.

- [Maddie] It's so perfect that it looks fake. - (speaking in Spanish) Here is its... It's belly and this is its... - [Trish] (speaking in Spanish) To pee? - (speaking in Spanish) No, for both.

(Maddie and Trish laugh) - (speaking in Spanish) This is the season for barrilete (sarda tuna) Ahh! it's during January, February, and March. Okay. - [Maddie] Ah! Don't bite me. - [Trish] Beso! Beso! (Maddie and Trish laugh) - By the way, this is Juan, or Juanito Bonito as Trish fondly calls him. He's one of the most amazing people I've ever met in Mexico.

His family lives he here at this beach and owns the restaurant, and out of the generosity of his heart, Juan gifted us one unforgettable experience after another, throughout this entire day and for the rest of our trip. Yeah, we're literally about to get a live fish-cutting here. (Trish laughs) I've never seen this in my life and I'm a little scared. (both laugh) And intrigued. I want to thank Better Help for sponsoring this video. It's an online therapy service I've been using for about a month now.

And I think a lot of people can get some value out of it, especially if you're in a situation like mine, on the move all the time, going all across the world. Because it's available worldwide and you don't have to be limited by the language. If you're here in Mexico like me and not totally comfortable speaking it, you can get access to a professional therapist via phone calls, video chat, and by messaging for a very affordable price and financial aid is available. So after a quick survey that you take that assesses your needs, you're matched to a professional therapist within 48 hours.

After that you get one video or call therapy session about 30 minutes to an hour every single week. And at any time, if you need to send your therapist a message, they respond within 24 hours. Very quick. So this is not a crisis line or an emergency help line, but it's access to 20,000 therapists. They match you to one, of course, but if it's not a good fit, you can change at any time to basically help you live the most happy life that you possibly can and work through any issues you might be having.

It's been amazing for me so far, especially with the breakup and everything else that's been going on. Just like trips like this that I'm on that are very therapeutic, and grounding and soul-centering. Check it out. Okay, so first, sharpen the knife. Clean it, sharpen it, sacrifice it. (Maddie and Trish laugh) Okay, first take the fins off. - [Trish] I don't know if you're going to be able to show it.

- (speaking in Spanish) Now you see it's not plastic? - Oh, I had to turn my head away when he did that. I don't know whether to be showing it or my face when my jaw is hanging down into the ocean right now. Oh, he's cutting it in half now. I really don't know if I can show this on YouTube.

I might have to cut these parts to just where you see me. - Wow. - Freaking out. Oh my God. - (speaking in Spanish) Now it's put in water for a half hour (speaking in Spanish) And the meat will lighten in color. Okay. - So now we're seeing the next part of the process, which is where it's cut up into smaller bits. And I think he said you soak it in water for an hour and then it makes- - [Trish] It makes it clearer.

Not as dark red. - [Maddie] But it's a very red color. - [Trish] It is super red. - [Maddie] It looks like liver. - [Trish] It does.

- [Trish] Oh he does that very nice. Oh, wow! - [Maddie] There it goes in the water. - (speaking in Spanish) After filleting it, I cut it up.

- This is literally my first raw piece of fish that I've ever tried, like raw, raw. ♪ Rah-Rah ♪ (Maddie laughs) Wow. Okay! - [Trish] It's not so bad, right? - It's interesting. So he said now it soaks in water for 10 more minutes and then add some more lime.

And then we feast. Here we are, they're taking the boat out. This is like hard work. It takes this many people. (Trish laughs) - [Trish] We'll record and watch. (laughs) - [Maddie] Excellent job, buen trabajo.

(Maddie and Trish laugh) (men speaking in Spanish) Let's go! 1, 2, 3! Wow, this really does take a lot of strength. Okay, holy crap. He just brought us a sea urchin.

It is alive. (Maddie exclaims) Oh my gosh! - It's okay. - [Maddie] (speaking in Spanish) No way! - (speaking in Spanish) It's alive. - [Maddie] Oh my gosh! (speaking in Spanish) - (speaking in Spanish) If it pokes you, yes. Like this, no. This is for eating. Do you want to try it? - [Trish] (speaking in Spanish) - [Maddie] Oh my gosh! (laughs) This is bonkers.

They're literally moving! It's walking on the table. (laughs) Holy crap. So here we got our personal sea urchins, view of the ocean, side of mezcal, and I'm eating my coconut carne. - This is the life. - These stupid flies.

I didn't know they walked. (laughs) It's a sea porcupine. (Trish laughs) It's a sea porcupine. - [Trish] How do you know if it's upside down or not? - [Maddie] Oh my! Yeah, what does it look like on the bottom? Whoa! Actually no, look. It's standing up. - [Trish] Oh, it is.

- [Maddie] There's space underneath. - [Trish] I feel like this is a science project. - [Maddie] I am so- - [Trish] They look like aliens.

- [Maddie] intrigued by this. They do! What planet did you come from, sir? Oh my gosh, what's he doing now? - (speaking in Spanish) Look, what you eat are the little eggs. These ones are yellow. - [Maddie] Oh my goodness. Which part of this do you eat? - [Trish] (speaking in Spanish) What part do you eat? - [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) The little eggs. - [Maddie] The eggs? I'm about to try sea urchin for the first time. I'm scared! (laughs) So these are the...

Oh my gosh, he's still moving. I feel bad. - I'm seriously... Okay - One, two, three Actually, it's good. (laughs) - Yeah, with the lime it's really good.

I don't know what to say it tastes like. It tastes good, but I mostly taste the lime flavor. It doesn't... It's not fishy or... - It has somewhat of a fruit taste, but I can't put my finger on what it is. You should try it. - Bon Appetit It does taste fruity, almost.

- Wow, this trip is already proving to be a very exotic, full of new experiences. I feel like Juan is giving us the VIP treatment here, because we didn't ask for this, he just- I don't know, did he go swim out there and get this? - [Trish] He did. He totally did. - I saw some of these in the ocean.

I literally did think that they were poisonous though if you touch them or whatever. The crazy thing to me, it feels like it's almost like caviar, because there's so little inside each one of these eggs. But actually, I kind of like it. The only thing I don't like is seeing them move still while I'm eating this, cause I feel like...

I don't know if these are just muscle spasms that happen. You know, a lizards tail gets cut off and it still wiggles around after that? But this is really good. (laughs) We just got our ceviche.

What a table we have going here. Coconut, sea urchins, ceviche, - Mezcal. - [Maddie] michelada, mezcal.

- [Trish] So Mexican. - This looks amazing, I cannot wait to try this. They put avocado and he made a special plate for me, no onions. I'm about to try the freshest ceviche I've ever had. Hot dang, that's good. This is so good.

- [Trish] A damn good day. Gracias. - Gracias.

Oh, yeah. That's where it's at. And what do you think? - First off, I'm so thankful for Juan, cause this is so sweet of him to share this with us and share the process. Cause he was like, "Do you wanna see this? "Do you wanna see that?" So he was excited to share it with us. Juanito Bonito, gracias. (laughs) - [Maddie] Gracias. (laughs)

(all laugh) - Awe, he got shy, but it's so good. - Okay, now is the time that I... - [Trish] There you go. - Oh my gosh.

Oh, okay. - [Trish] And the crazy thing is they have little- What are they called? Tentacles? - Tentacles - That's like searcher things that kiss you a little bit. It's not moving.

- [Trish] It's not so bad. - Oh, I see one. I see one. - [Trish] I don't know if this will focus, but...

- [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) We're going to Mazunte. Are you going to swim in Mazunte? - (speaking in Spanish) In Mazunte? We're going to swim. (Maddie and Trish laugh) Oh my gosh, it's moving! (laughs) I didn't know that all of these things moved. I don't know what I thought they did, but (laughs). Oh, it's so weird! Oh, it's so weird! - [Trish] That's so crazy. - Oh, now he's perking up.

Hello! (laugh) - [Trish] He's like, "Whoa!" - So after we were all good and fed, we went out again for another snorkeling sesh and somehow Juanito Bonito went and caught a puffer fish so that we could see it up close and pet it. It was a little bit like petting legs after they've been shaved, few days later or maybe like a short spine cactus. - [Trish] I can't even remember the last time I tried oysters. Oh, man.

- And now, Juan is blessing us with oysters, I think these are, after our snorkel sesh. - We got lime, a little bit of salt, if it's not stuck to my finger. (Maddie laughs) and habanero. Red habanero. I think I've only had these once.

I don't even how to eat it. How do I just eat it? It usually just goes. - [Maddie] Oh, there you go. - A really gracious way to eat them. So good. I feel totally spoiled.

- [Maddie] Yeah, for sure. So after all was said and done today, it was 610 pesos before tip. That included all that food, the ceviche, some drinks, coconut, snacks, everything...

- [Trish] Oysters. - Oysters. Man! Again, I feel so spoiled. Just like at the all-inclusive, but actually in an even better way than the all-inclusive, cause this is the- In an even better way than the all-inclusive, this is the authentic Mexican experience, off the beaten path thing, where you just get to know people and talk and then have amazing adventures. All these doggies living the beach life.

Hola! Actually, before we go on our next adventure... Oh, Trish is taking a shower. Yeah, I was gonna say we're coming back here to freshen up a little bit. So this is gonna get a bazillion views now.

Let's see Trisha naked... no. (both laugh) - [Trish] Nobody wants to see that. - Aw. (laughs) But here, I'm gonna include the tour that I did when we first got here, cause the room is a little bit roughed up now cause we've been here for two days. So this is just the downstairs of this room. And I wish I had a full reaction to, my first reaction to this bathroom.

But let me show you now. Look at the shower with the seashell curtain. And then... Ah, it's like a palapa roof and- - [Trish] Oh my God! - [Maddie] You literally get to see- I mean this is through a mosquito net type thing, but the ocean is out there. Jungle's here. - That is so cool. The shower is up here, and look at the twisty...

Oh! And what is... I'm in... (Maddie exclaims) You put your soap right here. I'm in love with this. And you come out here.

And then look at the sink is made of wood, and the faucet is a sh- Are these the... No, don't tell me. Are they? (Maddie gasps) It's shell... Oh, "I like so totally can't even right now."

Wow, this is amazing. Seriously. Oh! And so we've got a little garden to walk out to here. Thank you for demonstrating for me, Trish. Thank you, very much. And then you go upstairs.

- [Trish] And the view... Oh gosh, wait till you see this view. And then look at this, even the handles on this, it's woven wood. There's another bed up here and... Come outside. Got a hammock.

And then check this view out, seriously. Got the mountains, the ocean. Wow.

And then down there you can see where our little garden area is. So I will say, with this place, it's called Casa Bichu. I found it on Google, maybe? Hotels.com? Yeah, hotels.com, cause I booked it through there. I like it a lot and they've done some really cute things for my birthday. They gave me a little card.

They gave these crab towel things right here. The views from here are great. There's some things that I didn't quite like. It says it has a private beach, there's no private beach. It's public access. There are a lot of stairs.

I'm just trying to make sure you're not in the background, just in case. (both laugh) There's a lot of stairs, so be prepared to get your workout in here. Or if you have mobility issues, that might be a problem. - [Trish] Or you're gorda like me. (both laugh) - And I can't say the bed is anything to write home about.

In fact, it's been very uncomfortable, hard as a rock. But I do love the area and the people around here are so nice. Waking up to the sunrise view that you get from here is completely breathtaking.

To get that in the morning is absolutely magical. So yeah, I believe I paid about 150 U.S. dollars per night and this hotel is very Tulum-esque, you know? There's the details here where if you take pictures of it, you know, you got the hammock up there, the palapa roofs, the amazing view. It's going look Insta-perfect. But there's some details about it where I'm like, "I don't know if it's totally worth that amount of money per night," but I would definitely consider staying here again.

Told poor Juanito, "All we need is 15 minutes. No, less than 15 minutes." We're like, "Ah yeah, way less than 15 minutes." And then here we are 30 minutes, 20-30 minutes later. And they're like, "Excuse me, the taxi has arrived." Didn't we tell you it was 15 Mexican minutes? - [Trish] (laughs) Yeah, right? (bright music) (Trish laughs) So (laughs) Juanito just brought me some mezcal. He's like, "Do you want a little?" - She's like, "I can't drink beer.

"I can drink mezcal." - I can't. - He's like, "Okay." (laughs) - Do we see this right now? - (speaking in Spanish) Cheers! Chug, chug, chug! No, you're gonna be on the ground. - Oh, jeez! (both laugh) - One mezcal, two mezcal, three mezcal, floor. (laughs)

So after a 30 minute cab ride, more or less, which I believe cost 200 pesos, we have arrived in Mazunte, which as a total shock to me, is a Pueblo Magico. Despite all the research I did on this area, I didn't realize that it was one. And so now we're here with our friend Juanito. - [Trish] Juanito Bonito. (Maddie laughs) - To do, I don't actually know what. Well our first order of business here was getting more cash.

Word to the wise, get enough pesos before you come to this area, because the ATMs are few and far between and they're kind of sketchy. (laughs) - It's about a $6 charge, but I don't know, these ones didn't tell me the exchange. So that's the only thing I don't like. So usually they'll give you a pretty okay exchange, but it just depends on- - [Maddie] Depends. So we're looking for some authentic Oaxacan food for Trish. (Trish laughs) - [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) - Wow, this looks like a good spot.

I love it when it looks really- - [Maddie] Authentic? - Non-electric, nothing's electric. - So we just stopped in what I was gonna say is a hole-in-the-wall place, but there's not even any walls. (Trish laughs) But it's just on the side of the road here on our way to the beach.

Trish has never tried any real authentic Oaxacan food. - [Trish] I've never been to Oaxaca, so... - We gotta get her a Tlayuda. And we got to see them literally prepare it all here. And they've got the grill super hot.

Don't get too close cause it's already hot and humid enough. (Maddie laughs) - And they literally look- They're this big around. - Yeah, I remember when I first came to Oaxaca I was like, "That's de maiz?" It's corn? It doesn't have any flour in it? And it's like, "Yeah." I didn't think you could make it tortilla that big (Trish laughs) without flour, so it was like- - But in Oaxaca you can. - Amazing.

- I'm excited. - So it seems like you like it, eh? (Trish laughs) - (speaking in Spanish) A lot. - [Maddie] Are you a fan of Oaxaca, then? - Oh my gosh. I think I've been a fan of Oaxaca since the day we arrived. Oh, gracias. - Oh, and they're 70 pesos.

What a steal. For that much food? My goodness. Every dog in this area is the chillest ever. Look it, he's just- We're walking back, he's like, "Whatever." - [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) What a life, huh? - [Trish] (Laughs) (speaking in Spanish) Yes, exactly.

- (speaking in Spanish) *sarcastically* Life is so tough! Well this beach is be beautiful. Wow. The waves aren't too big either, but there's lots of chairs set up, lots of restaurants.

Super chill. Super super chill. I can already tell Mazunte is gonna be kind of awesome. I don't wanna give too much away before my next video, which is gonna be on MaddieGold, so be sure to subscribe over there to...

(both exclaim) Falling in sand. To MaddieGold. - Yeah, we're just doing a day trip, cause this is my last day. - It's her last day! - And she's gonna be here- Well I leave tomorrow in the afternoon, but she's gonna be here four more days. So we just came here to check it out and I love it. I wish I was staying with you.

- I do, too. I'm a little bit scared, but again, join me on MaddieGold, because I'm gonna be solo female traveling on my own. They're doing it. (lively music) Oh, look at this doggy! He's like, "I just wanna be included." (Maddie laughs) - [Trish] While they're working.

- [Maddie] Look out! (exclaims) (motor sputters) Oh, lord. Oh my gosh. (Trish laughs) This dog's like, "Yeah, we did it!" So happy. (laughs) (lively music) Hello, beach cat! - Oh, I love it! It's kinda- It reminds me of my dress a little bit. - (speaking in Spanish) It's really cool.

- I love it. (speaking in Spanish) What's your best price for this? - (speaking in Spanish) 260 (Trish laughs) - (speaking in Spanish) 10 pesos less - (speaking in Spanish) Do you have change? - Yes. - Oh sorry. - Gracias. - (speaking in Spanish) No, thank you! Thanks, young lady. See you around. - So I think this might be actually my first real pearl piece of jewelry that I've ever gotten. Got it for 250 pesos, and it's very- I wanted one that was high on the neck cause I usually wear high-neck shirts to protect myself from the sun that's always burning me. (laughs)

And the interesting thing is they're not round pearls either. (lively music) - (speaking in Spanish) What kind of tacos do you have? - [Woman] (speaking in Spanish) There are potato and fish tacos. - (speaking in Spanish) Oh, potato. Do you want to try it? What type of fish options do you have? - [Woman] (speaking in Spanish) Plain fish - (speaking in Spanish) Only those? - Yes. - [Woman] Si. - [Maddie] (speaking in Spanish) Well, does it have...

- [Woman] (speaking in Spanish) Guacamole, vegetables - (speaking in Spanish) But the fish, is it prepared with onion? She doesn't want onion. - [Woman] (speaking in Spanish) In the fish tacos, it has onion for the flavor. - (speaking in Spanish) Yes, onions. - [Woman] (speaking in Spanish) Then please give her 2 potato tacos. - (speaking in Spanish) Yes, potato (tacos). And for us, two fish tacos.

- [Maddie] (speaking in Spanish) And the potato ones don't have onion? - (speaking in Spanish) No, none. - [Maddie] Ah, gracias! - [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) - (speaking in Spanish) No, that's yours. - [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) You paid? - [Trish] Si. - [Juan] (speaking in Spanish) - Yeah, si! - [Trish] Juanito Bonito, what do you think? - (speaking in Spanish) They're really good. (Trish laughs) - [Trish] (speaking in Spanish) And you, dog? Hello! (Trish laughs) On the screen here is a playlist of videos that we've made in Oaxaca, one of my favorite states in Mexico. So you can continue watching.

Until we see you in the next video! Again, please subscribe and- Oh, do it! (bell ringing) (both laugh) Gong that bell! But not too many times. Just the right amount of times. And we'll see you next Saturday morning.
