I Surprised My Mom With Her Dream Vacation In Indonesia
i am at the airport in Jakarta about to take my mom on a surprise holiday here in Indonesia she has no idea where we are going or what's planned for the next few days but I really hope she's going to love it my mom is a hardworking woman and the last time she really had a proper vacation is years ago so I'm really happy and excited to make this trip happen for her joining us on this trip is my Indonesian girlfriend Lisa and our adventure starts with a flight to a stunning island destination once we hopefully arrive stress-free we will check into a beautiful beach hotel and then I have lined up some exciting activities over the next few days this will be my mom's first time truly traveling in Indonesia so let's see if she enjoys this trip as much as I hope and if everything goes as planned feel free to join us okay and we are at the gate now and yeah I have the boarding passes in my pocket so my mom can't see the destination on the boarding pass so what expectations do you have for the next few days well I would hope we're not going anywhere where it's freezing cold it's definitely going to be warm yeah and there's probably one place in Indonesia that you know outside of Jakarta that's probably Bali i can tell you we're not going to Bali yes and maybe you saw the previous video when my mom arrived here and yeah then you maybe remember she was feeling a bit weak because of the jet lag and the heat and it is now a day later and you are still not feeling that well right but I hope in a few hours you can sit on the beach and then the next few days relax enjoy the holiday and then I think or I hope you will get better okay and we are boarding now and you still don't know where we're going you can read it on the screen there but yeah the name on the screen uh doesn't mean anything doesn't mean anything to you you have never heard of that destination before so you don't know what to expect something warm island trees exactly spiders no spiders oh that's an interesting plane look at that sponsored by Pukari Sweat which is also the drink I'm drinking at the moment i'm touching the plane for good luck you're doing this as well now because you saw that in my videos yeah I always do that touching the plane for good luck and yeah the time of this flight is about 2 hours okay what was your first impression looking out the window beautiful and so far it seems also that we are lucky with the weather i am a bit worried about the weather because the forecast for the next few days is literally just raining raining raining every day so that could literally ruin the whole trip here so I am a bit worried about that and you can see it did rain here not that long ago there's some water on the ground here team cell oh it looks very beautiful here jalan Chanti as you say in Bahasa a beautiful road okay and we have arrived we just checked into our hotel and we are in Laban Bajjo which is on Flores Island in East Indonesia and now uh I hope I really hope you enjoy this hotel yes so let's get some first impressions of uh the hotel which is going to be our home for the next few days here but the first impression is really hot and humid is obviously the first impress but it's beautiful it's really lush you know the the trees it's actually palm trees and I'm very excited now to see the pool area as well as the beach and I'm actually a bit nervous now because I'm I'm so much in hope that my mom is going to love this place and that we are going to have an amazing holiday here the next few days and yeah in the next few days I have several activities and different things planned here can you take a look at that what the the fire tsunami warning there are no tsunamis here why would there be a tsunami warning then this is just a tsunami evacuation route because there no there no tsunamis ever here that's why you don't need to be worried there's not going to be a tsunami here yeah we are safe here but actually many of these signs right here my mom is worried about the tsunami signs oh okay regular tsunamis here never happened never happened no no don't sign anyway I think after the big tsunami in 2004 it just required by law that every place has this right but yeah this is a beautiful area i also really love it here actually oh that looks indeed very beautiful here oh we can sit here enjoy some some coffee maybe some uh smoothies maybe there's a bar area here as well and then we have a beautiful pool right behind the beach actually oh wow i'm also really really impressed that looks absolutely beautiful here stunningly beautiful like what you imagine when you think of a tropical island isn't it yeah right it's exactly that so my mom is over there now teaching Lisa swimming because Yeah lisa don't know how to swim and when my mom heard that she was like "Oh we have to teach you how to swim." So she's teaching Lisa how to swim now over there i'm actually so so happy that both of them get along so well together that really makes me happy to see my mom and my girlfriend really understanding each other laughing together enjoying the time i'm really really happy about that maybe you remember in the previous video when my mom arrived in Jakarta that was actually the first time that they actually ever met in person but yeah we do have a lot of more things planned so after enjoying this first full day here at the beach in the hotel the next few days I have many more things planned to take my mom around but today the first day is just uh arriving here and enjoying the hotel enjoying the beach the pool okay and we are trying to rent a motorbike now two motorbikes to be precise because Yeah three people we need two bikes and you said you saw a motorbike rental shop here right yes over there over there so basically right next to the hotel let's see if we can get a motorbike there because Yeah then the plan is toh explore a bit around i have a very interesting place in mind where I want to take my mom and Lisa to oh the plants get shy you touch the plant oh then they close yeah we call it putri malu putri malu yeah malu that means shy sh oh yeah here are so many okay let's see if somebody is here ada motorbike ada ada for renting yes yes okay vagus Kita Da motor motor bike uh which one you like big motor or small small is okay small yeah okay and we successfully rented two motorbikes number one number two and in case you're wondering each bike is 150,000 for one day okay thank you and now back to the hotel to pick up my mom isa you want to tell to the camera where we're going now so we want to take a board and then we're going to the cave with Ken and his mom i want to teach her some vlogging as well she has never really been on camera before so I'm trying to teach her a bit how to speak to the camera how to vlog you know because maybe in the future you will see her more often here on the channel in the videos maybe I think you've never seen something like this before you've never been to such a place before so I'm very excited to show it to you look at that she's seriously wearing a hoodie now i don't believe she is unbelievable in this seat i would die this is the local i'm actually feeling very hot as well and so does my mom and she is seriously wearing a hoodie okay everything okay so far so good okay let's go okay thank you all right and let's hit the road okay and we're actually riding through some villages now so this is also my mom's first time seeing the village in Indonesia the kums as they say here and she was just surprised that there are chickens running around but I told her that's completely normal in every Asian village whether it's in Thailand in the Philippines in Malaysia in Indonesia there are always chickens running around don't people steal those chickens no I don't think they steal the chickens here they're just sitting there don't people steal them people don't steal them nobody want to steal the chicken okay a little stop to buy some water so we have some little roadside stalls here basically everywhere also very typical in Indonesia whenever you're driving through a like small local kung village there always some little shops by the side of the road where you can buy like snacks and drinks ordering things asking how much like in a restaurant that's usually already fine for me and my mom is so fascinated that there are just chickens running around here freely do they just stay in the house i think they they just return every evening probably because they know they get food here like probably every morning every evening they get fed oh look at that so many goats here on the road they belong to anyone i'm actually not sure i think yes so probably the owner lives nearby but that's totally normal in Asia animals roaming around freely on random [Music] roads i think it's this little road here google Maps is not 100% right here but one of the local just said we need to drive down there it looks like we're riding through another village here hello okay we ended up in a very local village here the ocean is right over there and yeah it seems like over there we can take a boat to go over to the little island oh looks like they have an ice cream man here oh I remember when I was a child we had these guys in Germany too cruising around the village playing this sound or similar sound and selling ice cream but I think they don't exist anymore in Germany haven't seen them for like 20 25 years so how was your first ride through Indonesian villages well not not too different to the villages in Thailand yeah you saw villages in Thailand before yeah yeah yeah i find this village very interesting but it's so different compared to villages that we are used to in Germany right hello hello hello you can maybe see this is not the most touristy place in Indonesia but usually I prefer places like this like not overcrowded it doesn't look like Bali here and I think the experience that we going to have now is going to be very cool let me go first okay you're okay with experiences like this right compared to like the super touristy Bali where everything is a bit fancier and more build up no no this is fine i'm also noticing there's there quite a few women my age and older and they're okay with the seat obviously i mean they are used to it right but I mean something like this you wouldn't see on Bali in Bali this would be like build up there would everything be brand new but you're okay with experiences like this right i'm okay yeah yeah my mom actually enjoys places like this also more than touristy places that was one of the reasons why I wanted to bring her here instead of to Bali nama Jumardin jumin yeah okay namasayen okay daddy German german okay so the deal is now we are paying 500,000 he is going to take us to the island then he will wait for us and later he drives us back this is what we imagine like tropical island boutique isn't it what you find in postcards yeah ah so we have to start it with the hands she looks a bit Oh this is beautiful actually to be honest I enjoy places like this much more than places like Bali i mean you probably have heard of Bali before everyone knows Bali in Indonesia it's one of the most touristy places in all of Asia and I enjoy coming to places like this Raymore and so does my mom so in case you're wondering why I didn't brought her to Bali the most famous place in Indonesia that's the reason why and yeah the water here very clear maybe like 3 m deep looks beautiful and yeah this is the little island here okay okay so here we are on a secluded beach that can only be reached via boat it's a local price so we have a local price and we have a tourist price also something very common in Asia in Thailand also a lot i know some people agree with that some people don't agree with that my opinion is that it is okay to pay more as a tourist it is but I know that some tourists also don't agree with that okay so local price is 20,000 and the tourist price is 50,000 okay so there's this little path here now that we have to walk for like 2 3 minutes no spiders no snakes nothing no spiders no snakes here no no just be careful can be slippery i think I need Yeah she was asking should I go inside here okay so what is special here there's a cave here with fresh water inside so there's a freshwater pool inside this cave here yeah as you see I I'm taking my mom on a little adventure today instead of just sitting at the hotel's pool oh yeah the water is super super clear here so I guess it will be very refreshing to jump in there now okay unfortunately there's no way to convince my mom to go into the water now but Lisa and me are going to try it and yet the reason why we have any life jackets now is because then we can actually float which is pretty relaxing instead of swimming there oh this is indeed very very refreshing and there are actually bats in here as well i see some bats flying around and I can see the ground here i would guess maybe like 3 m or so this rock is expensive because we can made it for rings i asked like why nobody nobody take it then and they say nobody can get it because it's hard to get but he get it so you want to keep it it's for me for you okay and we are back at the beach here and yeah I didn't caught it on camera actually but my mom was down at the water and she was holding her feet into the water but she was so quick down there i didn't caught it on camera but yeah we're enjoying some of the views here at the beach now i actually think this would be an amazing sunset view as well but sunset is in like almost 2 hours I think so that's a bit long to wait here but I think we can catch a beautiful sunset view somewhere else later and this place feels like a like a little tropical paradise like a secluded beach here they are playing some regga music over there the kids are playing football very nice vibe here I have to say and yeah in case you're in the area you want to come here as well it's called Rango Cave and yeah in the village over there you can get a boat and then you come here enjoy the island and then later the boat takes you back to the village this is perfect isn't it yeah right i mean this is actually such a lively village here now people are gathering together playing volleyball the sun is about to set in the background over there oh and you see everyone playing happily together here the young people the older people the men the women my mom actually finds it so interesting here taking a video of the goat over there now the whole village vibe is very interesting the way you know people come nightfall or something it's a bit cooling down everyone plays what do they play volleyball volleyball and even you know the older women that is a picture I never imagined to see my mom standing in an Asian village like this so she can really soak up the local village life vibes here okay but we are trying to make it to a sunset viewpoint now sunset is about half an hour so we have to hurry up a little bit something that I always notice in these villages as well is that you see the people here may not have a lot but they are always full of smiles and happiness and the children's playing around here the people over there playing volleyball together everyone is smiling everyone is welcoming us like saying hello how are you where are you from welcome to Indonesia things like that and I always find the vibes in these Asian villages not only here in Indonesia but in other countries in Southeast Asia as well always so welcoming and that is also so different compared to the vibes in German villages where everyone is like walking around with a sad face not welcoming at all so very different vibes here in rural Southeast Asia definitely and I also like to support local people like this i mean the people running the boats over there are literally the people living here rather than paying some foreign companies in Bali running boats to us there you know but yeah let's see if we can make it to sunset okay and we have arrived I think in time for sunset but I think it is a bit too cloudy let's have a look okay we do actually have two viewpoints here one is up there and one is up here i don't really think my mom can make it up there so we're going to the smaller one so because from here the because the sun is setting over there i mean now it's too cloudy anyway but I think from here we would not have even seen the sunset so in order to see the sunset miss anything yeah yeah basically okay but the view here is uh still cool right it is okay my mom found a coffee stall here kopi daddy Indonesia yeah yeah indonesian coffee oh he has a motorbike here so he's running his coffee shop from his motorbike a look at that that looks really like black coffee super bike cafe cafe speak German oh he saidza cafe which means black coffee in German i wouldn't know the difference to be honest do you taste the difference between Arabica and Robusta coffee i wouldn't either and here's the water [Music] so you just uh mix the water with the the coffee powder yes okay and then I have to steering it that to filter it and now you filter it okay i was wondering when the filter comes in yeah i have to filter and here we go freshly filter with coffee yeah rausta Mangaray what does Mangaray mean mangaray is the local place name oh okay okay where the coffee is growing your coffee is ready okay ma'am 15,000 okay it's really strong but yeah it's nice yes okay it's interesting that they have a little machine like this here in the village usually in the villages in Southeast Asia you get gasoline in these plastic bottles here sometimes it's like old Coca-Cola bottles or old liquor bottles but here they actually have a little machine like this which looks like a real petrol station right oh yeah this is literally a very rural village so we're filling up both of our bikes and that's how we get gasoline in rural Indonesia hello chicken your chicken jangun jangun jangun yes corn for makan mac yeah yeah for the chicken ayam mak jangun ah so the the chicken they get feed with the corn oh we were just filling up gasoline here and then the aunties waved us over and said hello thank you very much yeah the people here in the villages are always so friendly and welcoming i think I actually said it earlier in the video already and now we experienced that again so that was a little gasoline pit stop here i think it's actually just someone's house and they have a little shop in front of their house and also selling gasoline here okay we are on the way to the main city here Lavan bajjo city not really city more like a small town village type of place but yeah this is the main place here the main town Laban Bajjo you can see there's also a harbor plenty of boats over there and then many more islands in the distance so you can also take boat tours from here this is the main town there Luan Bajjo i'm going to show you something yeah you see that already on that side the bench they're called Lisa the bench is here yeah take a picture of your bench yes and actually I just noticed something very interesting the name of the restaurant here is Halfen Blick which is German and that translates to Haru and interesting to see a German name here maybe the owner is German what does that shape remind you of look at it it's a boat it's a boat yeah oh the shape yeah the shape of a boat right you can see it there nicely done h good spot all right and here we are now in the main village there are a few restaurants here and there a few hotels here and there and also some souvenir shops shops for tourists okay so we are trying to find something very specific for my mom now she likes to read books but the book that she brought here to Indonesia she already has read it now finished it in a few days so we're trying to find a new book for her we are here on an island in Indonesia enjoying an iced latte and iced matcha at a Starbucks here I'm here with my son Ken and Lisa and Lisa ordered this is a somay seem like a dumplings and made from fish and flour and have a tofu white tofu and then egg and peanut sauce tofu it's tofu yeah give it a try that's not my favorite thing not your favorite thing you should always try everything once at least you don't have to eat it again but you know try that i always used to say that right then now it's getting back no mommy you try that no I don't want to hey mommy you have to try this because Yeah that is what she always told me when I was a child and I didn't want to try the vegetables or something else and now I'm going to make her try things okay so we are back at the beach in front of our hotel and we are going sunset kayaking now well that was the original idea at least we have the kayak here but we don't really have the sunset the sunset is behind the clouds over there but yeah I wanted to show my mom some kayaking here actually we did this together in Thailand as well we did something like this in Thailand yes I If you saw our Thailand videos from like 2 years ago maybe you remember when we were kayaking on one of the islands there okay so imagine this view now with a beautiful sunset over there that was the original idea but yeah we haven't been lucky with sunsets the past days so this is now our last evening here we spent a couple of days here but yeah not a single evening had a beautiful picture perfect sunset but that's all right it doesn't have to be perfect all the time oh and there's a wave oh yeah very calm sea right very calya very calm sea yeah oh this is very very nice the air feels nice for change not so hot here and look at the view yeah the view is beautiful right despite the the lag of the sun it's a beautiful country the the the vegetation is is beautiful the people they're wonderful i mean everyone is smiling and welcoming and I love the hospitality here everywhere and you know wherever we went they were always smiles and this location as well this hotel if anyone wants a dream holiday this will be it and do you know what was my favorite thing about this holiday of course I also enjoyed the location here sitting by the beach the experiences but my absolute favorite thing about this holiday was to see how well my mom and Lisa get along i'm so happy to see both of them enjoying the time together laughing together and yeah Lisa has been my girlfriend for about a year now i really love her so it really makes me happy to see that my mom also really likes her and both of them getting along so well together so that really made me happy the past days so I really hope that you had an overall good vacation here definitely that that is no question that was a dream holiday it really was and yeah although we are going to leave Indonesia tomorrow morning the trip is not over yet because we have two more countries to visit in Southeast Asia so stay tuned for the next videos and if you haven't
