First Time In Rural Sri Lanka (Not As Expected)
all right it's my first time in rural sri lanka and i'm looking for a place called ambula something like that and i saw a little bakery here ah let's see hello oh it smells so good in here i would like to try something the bread is maybe too big do you have something small i can buy uh what what is inside here on the small one here something inside rice rice nice rice inside one okay i get one of these one yes we're gonna find out what's inside how much this one uh fourteen forty rupees okay there you go okay thank you oh village here looks lovely hello i'm looking for a place called ambulu lavala ambula vala valla the big tower 9 9 kilometer yes okay the tower right yes yes very hard to pronounce it almost so follow the road here yes okay okay it's always super interesting to explore the rural parts of a new country i absolutely love it leaving the the touristic towns the places where all the tourists are hanging out and just yeah experiencing the the real sri lanka you know if you follow my channel already in thailand or malaysia you know i put the same there as well so let's give this a try oh it smells so good oh i was expecting something sweet but it's actually um savory not sure what is inside what is inside what is it is it spicy onions yes onions okay okay very good i think it's onions spicy onions so let's see this bike is not the newest one oh this time it's starting perfect okay thank you all right yeah welcome to the roads in rural sri lanka and yeah i got this bike for one day today but i'm thinking about getting a bike for a whole month in the next day so so that we can start a full sri lanka road trip i'm actually very excited for that yeah let's get some first impressions of uh yeah villages in sri lanka rural life the countryside wow super interesting isn't it a little many little corner shops here i'm always so oh what are they doing here oh check this out hello oh i think they're cutting some jax fruits here hello is this a jackfruit ah oh so interesting oh that's very big oh hello hello ah you're cutting jackfruits and i think these are the small pieces and you can get out of the fruit wow but it's very large the food right can i can i buy some fruits around here some bananas or oranges coconut over there not here ah okay okay okay thank you studi i thought when there's a man cutting jackfruits maybe they're also selling some fruits here the sun is shining what a nice day village right here i'm missing chickens you remember my village videos in thailand there were always some chickens running around the villages i haven't seen chickens running around here yet and even here in the villages you see plenty of tuk-tuks or you call them three wheels here i learned that from you guys in the comment section and that that surprises me that even in the villages you see uh people using tuk-tuks hello what are you doing here i want to go to ulala how many kilometers let's just follow the road here right 10 kilometers 10 kilometer just follow the road okay okay how many come in sri lanka uh three weeks do you know if i can find a coconut here to drink drink coconut maybe down there yes okay i will find okay okay stuti coming behind me so i can't stop on the bridge so let's stop over here so first of all the bridge looks very nice i like the the architecture design here and then look at this mountains in the background lots of coconut trees here a little river here well i mean the the pipes here are a little bit ruin the view but that's all right maybe the other side is even better ah check this out and there are some people over there sitting on the on the river i think they're playing some drums even wow hello can i go down to the river can i can i go down there no cannot cannot go ah okay okay yeah but can i go cannot ah okay no problem no problem all right looks like every time i'm filming the start of the motorbike it goes with no problem and every time i start the bike without the camera is this oh i never see this fruit before that's always uh the the fruits of a new country always uh also something nice to experience because i always see new fruits that i've never seen before is get there you know and i totally do that oh we have coconuts here oh hello you have coconuts ah i'm looking for coconuts the first shop i see here with coconuts see like literally 100 meters later i found something else how much is one coconut here how much how much he also has sex fruits here and some more fruits i've never seen before but they look rather old right all right let's check out the coconuts in germany and still plenty of tuk-tuks around here even here in the villages it seems to be the number one uh form of transportation i didn't expect it let's check this out i think he gets the coconuts right from here i think these are coconut oh no isn't it banana trees here but uh here also a jackfruit seem to be popular here what what is this ticket lottery ticket how much can i win how much 20 rupee for one ticket and how much when are you in how much rupee can i win 23 million 10 thousand okay i would like to get kotikoti sri lanka okay i would like two lottery tickets two thank you very much no i want to go ula lubala the big tower no no no um ah i can see it from here over there yeah i see it on top of the mountain yeah ah so go there right yeah yeah okay okay perfect yeah kilometer four four kilometer perfect okay here you can see it on top of the mountain over there the tower where we want to go all right not far all right let's check again after bike starts with no problems once again no problem oh yeah but with this pace and so many stops i think we will never reach the tower but yeah he said four more kilometer only so yeah maybe next stop at the tower unless i see something interesting along the way again okay that's where we want to go and i just realized how high on the mountain it is i'm wondering if my bike will be able to make it up there because it looks like it's going to be really steep to go up there oh i haven't thought about that before to be honest yeah but i can hear the truck truck also has to work a lot to get up here for the three-wheeler let's see if we can overtake oh yes my small bike is stronger than expected hello excuse but it's not so steep no problem carefully okay okay so buy a ticket here okay i will pack over here no no i want to drive my bike oh yeah i said i can drive but carefully because it's steep but i'm used to that ticket here yes okay how much is the ticket 600. just one person yes all right i'm happy that we can drive up there rather than hiking up there in the heat so far looks alright i mean if you saw my northern thailand road trips here series a few months ago and you know we had some really steep roads there as well but to be honest i also had a stronger bike there so oh oh oh check this out it always doesn't look dead steep on camera but it is pretty steep so i'm driving full speed now trying to go full speed and the bike can make it to 30 now there's a monkey family blocking the road please let me pass okay they were friendly actually i still have some bananas left that i bought earlier but i think you should not feed the monkeys here or the horse why are there horses here on the road seem to be wild horses oh that was unexpected seeing a horse here or maybe it was a mule another horse i'm not sure full speed and the dry the bike can make it to 20 kilometers per hour or not even 20 like 15 16.
all right let's park right at the entrance first row parking all right so we have made it to the ambula tower which is actually a really cool place because it's a cultural diverse place it's a center for different religions so there is a buddhist temple here there's a hindu temple here there's a church here and there's a mosque here so people from different religions gather together here at this place and yeah we can climb the stairs of the tower now and the top is a very narrow staircase it's 48 meters high and i heard that it's not easy to climb when you are afraid of heights normally i'm okay with heights but let's check it out wow isn't that cool i'm not a religious person but i love to see cultural diversity we have a mosque here we have a hindu temple here we have a church here and i guess that is the buddhist place maybe this as well well cultural diversity guys absolutely amazing to see that on one place here wow all right at this part we have to walk outside no more stairs inside whoo i don't even think it's even here you know it's a bit like this well you can see it's pretty high here oh okay now the scary part but i mean this tower is uh standing here for quite a few years why would it break down now right but oh my god oh it's super narrow here oh it really feels like the tower is about to to collapse to one side right because here it's a basically like this here oh it's getting a difficulty now i know no no no did he just ask me for a cigarette no i don't have a cigarette i'm not smoking you want to pass me first and i will wait here thank you have a nice day oh thank you very much stuti i'm not even fitting through here even though i'm normally pretty good with heights but this is challenging this is challenging i think this is the end here challenging scary but definitely rewarding i mean look at the views here and you have to stand here like this wow i made it back down wow what a place definitely nothing for you if you are afraid of heights but if you can handle the height then you will be rewarded with breathtaking views cool place and yeah if you enjoy videos from the countryside in sri lanka exploring rural sri lanka then leave a like so that i can see that you enjoy these type of videos and yeah if you haven't seen the previous video where i tried some local food in a very local restaurant check out the video right here thanks for watching stay healthy stay positive and then see on the next episode ciao guys
