the Kaghan valley is an alluring & serene tourist place of the province KPK would it be appropriate to say this there are dozens of tourist spots in the valley where the tourists visit in 1000s of numbers & enjoy the lush views of the valley there are lush green fields lakes of crystal water streaking rivers and snow clad mountains their lovely views are enough to leave a mark on the souls of visitors from Balakot to Babusar top means from 3200 ft to 13800 ft elevation covering a displacement of 155 km the Kaghan consists of numerous valleys the meadows the lakes and the forests starting from Balakot city in district Mansehra the serene views up to Babusar top the towns the lakes, water streams & waterfalls all of them are part of Kaghan valley 155 km journey from Balakot to Babusar top can be covered with any type of vehicle from June to Oct only bcoz it remains closed due to snow glaciers during rest of the months we can take this route to go to Gilgit as well so it's important corridor w.r.t domestic trading located at an elevation of 13800 ft. the Babusar pass links Kaghan valley & KPK to Gilgit Baltistan to visit Gilgit and China this is the 2nd trade route after Karkuram highway that remains open from June to Sep river Kunhar flowing thru the heart of the valley takes its start from highest lake of the valley, Dharamsar lake receives waters from no. of compact lakes & makes Lulusar lake that is a natural habitat of tourists as this river flows downwards in Kaghan valley the streams from numerous valleys & lakes turn its flow to a ferocious river the 2nd largest origin of river Kunhar is the 2nd largest lake of this valley, Saiful Malook located 13 km away from the famous tourist spot (Naran) of Kaghan valley & 4000 ft high than Naran this lake is located 12500 ft high above sea level a heaven for tourists in summer water flowing from numerous valleys after Naran joins river Kunhar increases its mass flow at Balakot, this river after collecting water of the whole valley turns into a large river & changes its course to the mountains of Kashmir as we start moving ahead of Balakot we observe so many valleys in Kaghan forests meadows lakes & the paths for trekking perhaps we can't visit all these places in one life beauty of Kaghan valley touches its limits as soon as Balakot is crossed & 100s of tracks going deep in these mountains end at lovely places after crossing similar tracks & the forests we reached many times at places incredible in natural beauty while trekking in Gitidas plains the breathtaking views add to the charming beauty of this area one thing that comes in mind while trekking here that how many are the treks how many are the views & how many are the destinations in these mountains we havn't still seen this is Gitidas this is Insaf hotel, it's owners are with us they have made this hotels by self help tea is being prepared inside the other one is grocery store make a good tea little sugar, more tea bags what's your good name? well..this place is MashaAllah so beautiful we crossed Babusar top so many times, that's like a thoroughfare for us watched this place from top only, came here for the first time today do you know, when does snowfall start here? almost after Nov, snowfall starts here roads get closed after that? Yes no one can visit the lakes then? no, no one can go how many lakes are there in this national park? may be two not two, in this whole park? there are others like Satsar mala, Musa and many others inclding them counts to 7 all right small and big total 7 Balakot is the starting point of Kaghan valley & the biggest city with all basic necessities available here river river kunhar flowing through the center of the city doubles its beauty & provides most of the tourism opportunities Babusar top is the end point of Kaghan valley located 13800 ft. high above sea level at one side of this pass, there are snow clad peaks of Kashmir along with Nanga Parbat Nanga Parbat can be viewed from here if the weather isn't cloudy a view from the top contains the wriggling river Kunhar flowing thru the plains of Gitidas Kaghan valley covers almost 1000 square km 25% of its part is covered with forests meadows and plains cover much of its land a large portion of the valley's land lies above tree line there are rocks and snow clad peaks most of the forest land lie before Naran means at lower than 8000 ft elevation a few among the known, historic, peaceful & dense forests are Ghanol valley Manoor valley Shogran spell bounding Sharan forest Khanian & the forest of Rajwal forest rest houses owned by forest deptt.
are located on the most beautiful points of the forests trekking amid these forests gives a feeling of such an enticing walk we can't even think of cypress trees are observed at less than 5000 ft height Pines & Himalayan cedar are observed above 5000 as we move towards more height we observe trees with even more in height avg height of pine trees in these forests is 50 to 100 ft. wood generally is used for burning & constructing homes the herbs and shrubs in these forests are used for making many types of medicines we can cook and eat it it's used for making medicine after drying it medicine for what kind of disease? for kidney's disease how to prepare it now? will just give it heat well, heat it then it becomes tasty with spices ok I'll do it without spices we are giving it heat with lighter will eat then & share it's taste I haven't eaten it before Mushroom while sitting at a place like this with such a view finally, its ready let me try it can't judge its taste neither sweet nor savorless not bitter, not harsh that's why I'm saying that it's taste can't be judged but it tastes good KP govt. has provided tourism as well as research opportunities in these forests only 2.5% land of Kaghan valley can be cultivated where there is a bit plain people cultivate the land there mostly the people are hospitable & hardworking after the natural resources they get jobs for themselves to earn on self help basis a grinder mill operated by water I've seen my ancestors using this type of mill but that was hand operated what are grinding in it? flour you're making corn flour corn seeds are being fed to it connected with turbine you're the owner? all the population of this area comes to you to their flour grinded? from far away, near the main road people come from Balakot well, your approach is up to Balakot there is another mill 2~3 km before Balakot people come here when that one is stopped OK this is a new thing for us we used to study about the water operated mills have seen for the first time today look at this grinding stone so you've turned the stone into grinder you made it by yourself? yes wow look at their expertise example of self help they say, necessity is the mother of invention well said we made it ourselves and installed it inside excellent all the lakes of Kaghan valley are near Naran or ahead of Naran & all lakes are located above 10000 ft. means, above the tree line the lakes above tree line are called alpine lakes a few among the well known lakes of the valley are Saiful Malook Dudipatsar Dharamsar Lulusar and the Ansu (tear) lake Lulusar is the largest lake of Kaghan valley while Dudipatsar is the most beautiful Ansu lake at highest elevation being close to Babusar top, Dharamsar lake is the origin of river Kunhar Lulusar Dudipatsar national park is the loveliest region of Pakistan sky-high mountains lush green ground lakes of nature's water & clouds emerging from mountain's peaks make this place a heaven of dreams the highest peaks of the valley are Malka Parbat and spider peak avg height of mountains in Kaghan valley is 10 to 13000 ft while the highest peak is Malka Parbat its elevation is 17500 ft.
Malka Parbat can be viewed from lake Saiful Malook & Lalazar if we cross these forests after the silence of forest a lush green plain land & open sky awaits us there are so many plain lands and valleys in Kaghan where we can reach after crossing the dense forests water flowing thru each valley after watering the land of whole valley disappears in Kunhar river there are so many places in Kaghan valley where there is a scope of tourism opportunities dam is being constructed there, Balakot hydro power with this reference, we had been demanding from them to provide road, water & electricity to Shinkiari hut & surroundings so this area may be developed & ppl may find employment this is a backward area yes these facilities will provide employment to locals this is a good place w.r.t tourism as well you can view Balakot from here that is Mansehra Shinkiari on the right Musa ka musalla, further right yes that white mountain is Musa ka musalla yes at this side, there is Malka Parbat o yes, that is Malka Parbat all right Shogran can be seen beneath Malka Parbat behind this, the Makra (spider) view yes this is Makra peak at its back side, there is Kashmir absolutely, Kashmir is at the back side Sultan sb has explained it well this is such a beautiful valley surrounded by snow clad mountains not equipped well with tourism opportunities but someone has noticed, glad to hear that road leading to this place is too bad at official level the ppl interested in tourism can provide basic necessities of life to these ppl along with tourism opportunities far off areas of the valley lack in basic necessities of life what's your name? what? Ubaid, you tell where is the school? you need to go downhills? on the main road? yes road near river kunhar? yes do you go there daily? yes & come back from there? yes being the lower part of Himalaya range, the Kaghan valley remains chilled for most of the months but it's weather remains moderate from April to Sep & the views are serene during these months when sun is shining with all its energy in the region of Punjab th valley waits for the tourists during these months of summer during May, it's max temp is 15 & min 3 degree celsius while in monsoon & winters, movement becomes difficult when everything freezes in the upper regions of Kaghan valley due to winter snowfall the ppl shift to the lower areas of the valley & return as soon as the winters are over if you like winter rainfall & snowfall you can visit Kaghan from Nov to Feb and if you can't go still you can enjoy the beautiful views of valleys, thick forests & sky-high mountains it's quite difficult to trek in mountains for the ppl living close to sea level but this trekking possesses a specialty the lovely are the views, the more is the height they are viewed from Balakot Shogran Sharan Naran and Babusar top are the famous tourist spots of the valley every year, 100s of 1000s visitors visit here traditional foods of Kaghan valley are the same as of the rest of the province KPK "Chapli Kabab" tops the list besides this, all kind of delicious food consumed in Punjab & rest of Pakistan all of them are available here bcoz large number of the hotel & restaurant owners come here to explore business opportunities from rest of the parts of Pakistan many hotels coming on the way are beautiful in the sense that most of them are built at the bank of Kunhar or amid water streams either you take a meal here, after a long tiring day or a breakfast the surroundings freshens up once again the wriggling paths in the mountains or a trekking time with lovely views add to the allure of this valley while trekking, one thing remains in mind always that I get sufficient time to roam in these valleys & admire the nature's work all the places of Kaghan valley shown in this video further info about all of them like how can we reach there? where to live? and what to eat? visit out YT channel to get all info and to get further info that away from the busy life of big cities in the mountains & forests of Kaghan and in the lush green meadows how the nature sings for its glamour
