Discovering Natal (North East Brazil is amazing!)
[Music] oh yeah [Music] what's up all right [Music] foreign all right introducing the world's largest cashew tree believe it or not I think this is it yes I think so we're part of it at the very least yeah part of it I think we can go in there it's like amazing yes I think so I was expecting a treat sort of vertical in its tree-like fashion almost like a bush isn't it I'm excited for this okay nice let's go good [Music] so for a small fee of eight hay ice per person we have now entered the largest cashew tree in the world and the paths here are sort of all crooked and Meandering all around and they sort of all look the same and so it seems like an easy place to get lost and with this in mind they've done a good job putting these signs everywhere sort of taking us on our cashew sort of like Museum our cashew Journey here today now if you're not Brazilian and you're thinking of cashew you're probably thinking of cashew nut but did you know there is a cashew fruit which sort of looks like this this is obviously a massive oversized one but evidently it's very delicious and very tasty which sort of makes me feel unfortunate that there's no cashews growing right now yeah it's not in season I guess it's not in season today but you can imagine this place being full of cashew fruits which have the nut attached and you can probably walk through and eat some and yeah would be another experience but uh I would say good experience so far in the cashew tree and I think we can go on top to a Viewpoint so let's go check it out up here oh not bad imagine that all being one cashew tree yeah yeah something special no huh I'll tell you what I enjoyed this place especially for the price of eight hey Ice I wish we could try a cashew fruit because I will admit growing up in Canada I didn't even know the cashew fruit existed right never mind I actually eat one so maybe we can go to some of these stores over here and hopefully sample for the first time they catch you from Japanese from please I have been in the Middle East the Canadian people was real together with the Canada arm the Army nice to meet you nice to meet you nice to meet you fantastic all right let's go try cashew fruit s [Music] so right outside of the entrance of the tree there's a whole Market here with many different stores selling cashew and cashew related products I don't think we're gonna find the fruit here Ivana I think we're only finding the nuts we might have to search for the fruit on our journey to natal sure hopefully we can sink our teeth into a juicy cashew fruit before the video's out but I also not like cashew nuts so let's buy some let's buy a bag for the road trip Ong see ten bucks yeah salty nuts out there Steve yeah this looks like a place look everyone come to Steve oh my gosh you know this is a musical Market all over again yeah we don't have to bite okay I did not I did not expect this experience this is very reminiscent of the municipal market in San Paulo when everyone offered me a free fruit and then it was turning out to be the most expensive fruit in the whole world so a Small Town Market here I really thought it would be easy come easy go but it turns out there are aggressive sales people in a small town so Ivana we should just try to buy some from someone who's not selling to us what's this profile we should just try to buy you not tasty one if you taste it's gonna increase the price by times three tasty ice tennis we'll just buy Ivana yes yeah okay foreign akaja I know I've never heard of this is gorilla makes a drink but you don't eat it you watch it you're spending big money right now oh gosh we're broke laughs tastes different tastes like a little bit of mango a little bit of uh look at this juicy oh it looks a bit like tomato almost kind of like slimy inside it tastes a bit like automatically mixed with avocado mango and avocado okay something new it's okay okay um [Music] 15 a kilo see half kilo Amigas can I try yeah see I'll tell you what guys uh it turns out to be very friendly ladies it wasn't a bad experience after all I was a bit nervous past trauma I had past drama exactly hey bite it bite it okay so juicy very juicy okay okay watch out you're gonna get juice on your shirt Lean Forward be safe uh this is gonna be beautiful so orange and yellow color sort of looks like a sweet pepper this is the knot the cashew nuts you can see the shape that's right but I did buy it oh it's more fibery than I thought I didn't expect that either fiber is usually makes your mouth like like take all the liquids you know try it oh my gosh do you like it do you like it you like it's very interesting it's juicy but it makes your mouth dry at the same time like what does it taste like oh it doesn't taste like anything else it just tastes like Kaiju right I almost have that texture of durian what no creamy sort of cheesy look it looks a bit like durian no no I wouldn't say I'm a fan but interesting yeah fine fine I don't know find fruit to eat ah sweet IE watch out you try your body try it oh this is like soursop get one get one yes very sweet no one they're pretty good very good very good teacher teacher English okay so hello hello my name is I don't know how to do it I can't get it out it's like totally maybe you need to toast it or something no you cannot eat them not so raw I heard it's poisonous or something is that right yeah if you eat it raw I got your cocoa yes water okay we should get some coconut oil yeah super nice ladies yeah yeah oh coconut water coconut water no no okay okay uh um have you tried this never tried let me try one oh you gotta try I was climbing up trees hunting for Jupiter they sent me it's uh this is the famous I just love fruit it has this dark color Cherry Blackberry you name it I like it regardless very much sweet sweet what five stars a good experience yes good experience in the market look at this fruit market I like it just on the side of the street thank you thank you okay see what happens when you're a friendly lady like Mary we actually give very extra money or you go to San Paulo musical market and they rob you totally blind being honest is better yeah get more money that way we got a car full of snacks and we're ready to rip let's go yo now tell us it's a beautiful place man are we Crossing that bridge Sun I want to drive on that bridge that is one heck of a bridge [Music] all right we have officially made it to natal and our first stop is going to be this beautiful Fort strategically located on the shoreline I think Ivana and I parked in the wrong spot because we're stuck in the uh the quicksand out here crossing the desert like we need some camels or something but I think we'll make it there now the city natal uh the word actually means Christmas because the city was founded on December 25th right so we have arrived in Christmas in February let's check out the fort [Music] absolutely love forts they combine adventure and exercise and history with beautiful scenery and this particular Fort has a viewpoint on 360 Degrees all the way around you've got the ocean on one side which is surprisingly blue and beautiful you've got the bridge on one side which I really love absolutely beautiful bridge and you've got the skyline of natal on the other side uh absolutely five star forked experience yet again here on jet lag Warriors now inside the fort there's a bit of a Courtyard area where there is a tiny Chapel where we learned that this fort is actually the fort of the three wise men and it was built in 1598 so more than 400 years old and to this day a really great tourist experience uh like I said five-star Fort experience good first impressions of natal so far okay they used to shoot to shoot cannons now we shoot [Laughter] wow so nice accommodation we've got the view here we've got the whole place looking amazing the lady who works here is so friendly she's so kind she even came here early and turned on the AC so when we walked in it was ice cold will I do more video editing or will I do more gaming with this chair let's be honest there might be some delay in editing and uh I really recommend this place just checking in right now the lady who works here is so friendly uh stuff on the bed oh my gosh lovely wow what a good first impression of natal good okay guys it's time for the beach thank you wow the tall Shadows from the buildings because the Sun is going down way over there just absolutely beautiful I guess on most beaches you want the sun to go down sort of over the water but in the towel it's almost more beautiful that the sun goes down on the other side of the city because the Shadows of the skyline are amazing and it almost seems like every color in the ocean keeps changing here blue green teal turquoise in the whole Bay here so this is exactly why I love road trips so much because not only do we get to see a new city every few days we get to see it with complete freedom and so we our Airbnb was amazing the fort was great and this Beach pontanegra uh really beautiful and really nice for Sunset and also for people watching people watching just great whether it's the Surfers or the kite Surfers or all the beach goers right uh absolutely five-star first impressions of natal what a beautiful place I will say this the wind is coming in pretty strong and it has made my milk very dry I think it's time for a survey show foreign 's for you there are lots of options here actually on the main beachfront o all right I got some not French but Brazilian crab right because it has kind of the soul and Brazil got lots of International Food Sushi pizza and Brazilians claim they have the best the best of those here so let's try this one yeah usually a grape is for dessert no but this one is like a dinner time crap very thin and crispy come on what a great day NATO but it's just gonna get better because tonight we're going to a boho party will I be able to dance I'm kind of shy will Steve be able to dance it's also shy full party first time football party let's go foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] and uh everybody is out here having a drink and enjoying there's a live band who is doing a great job and there's actually teachers who are often in full costume made very helpful so I've had my short lesson Ivana has had her short lesson and maybe now we can actually dance boho together without uh totally embarrassing ourselves with that being said a few more beers and I'll be a better dancer I'm sure foreign [Music] to be honest I'm not convinced I'm the one who needs another lesson but that's another story for another day now did did you know that the center for tourism here where we are is actually a former president if you can believe it so all of these stores which are so beautifully designed and so vibrantly colored are actually former cells of the prisons so as you walk around the center Courtyard things for sale and they are former prison cells and this is sort of on far with most of what Brazil has been like for us the history is often rough but the [Music] incredibly positive and full of smiling faces [Music] all right I'm not solo dance and I'm thinking I may be the weak link in a relationship [Music] [Music] [Music] different things [Music] [Applause] I just did like a 30-minute conga line everybody participates has to partner
