welcome back to part two of our darling river expedition we drag ourselves away from the menindee lakes head to Nelia Gaari station where we experience our first station stay and then on to Bourke turn right then your destination will be on the right Nellia Gaari is part of a fantastic initiative of station stays called Outback Beds each station varies in what it offers but you're certainly in for a great experience whichever one you choose at Nelia Gaari the choices are endless for camping you can camp around a billabong or you can go and camp on the Darling they do have wood for sale but you are allowed to go and collect wood around the billabong area couldn't leave that one behind huge Billabong on that side we've got a little minor issue with the truck being that a bracket for our rear steps has broken through so i'm going to go to the station where we're at and ask them nicely whether i can use their welder and hopefully they'll let me and i can weld it all up it's um probably will break again but we'll sort it out later it vibrates too much when it's up and it's just fatigued the metal and put a crack through it so we'll see whether we can fix that do you get a few people through obviously now that the river's got water yeah the last look it's always it's always busy this time of the year is it yeah but the last couple of years it's been crazy especially last year with Covid chopping up some kindling? Trying too not much luck today because his kindling's about that thick i thought the farm off was just too hard a special thanks to Greg for helping us weld up and sort out the broken truck parts and also both to Greg and Lily for a great station stay we thoroughly enjoyed it thanks guys Hopefully that will do it hilarious this is our newly modified step bracket when we only have the truck we still have to do clothes washing we do it with a bucket and sit it on the back so it sloshes around and that's our washing machine we arrived at coach and horses campground at Paroo Darling National Park outside of Wilcania unfortunately it was closed so there was no exploring to be done there bye Darling she had a serious face all the roads in the area are fine they're a little rough they're suitable for like a all-wheel drive or a soft roader but if it rains you won't be going anywhere even with a full drive you just have to wait it out oh it's Bull, Brahman i think it's a sign Jandra paddle boat is it called a paddle steamer it's no steam because it's diesel paddle boat it's a paddle boat whilst on board you move around the boat can coffee get downstairs help yourself for the urn down there that's where we camped a bit of water in the river this year if you've got water birds so moving around they come and go so you might see a few pelicans swans arbors eager herins spoonbills cormorants, ducks wedge tail eagles, hawks kites okay i'm up early this morning just listening to the bird calls and waiting for the first few rays of sunshine to hit our camp i was hoping to get some wild goats across the other side of the darling but i can't see any i heard them last night but none have come down to drink most likely because there is so many billabongs and water sources other than the river just itself they're probably going there to have their morning drink first of the sun is just hitting the trees on the opposite side of the river it's going to be a magnificent day super clear the sun has finally made it on our camp to warm us up oh yeah because it's fresh my fingers feel like stabbing needles in them but it's nice this is a lovely free camp bush camp we're on the i don't know it's the upper Darling gotta love the shower in the truck just broke away how much do you reckon it came up from yesterday? at least a foot yeah that's crazy two feet it really didn't have any water in it yesterday did it so just from the dew last night HAHa I don't know its just come up what a beautiful location thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe if you want a reminder hit the bell and remember we always love a thumbs up done next week we leave cotton growing Bourke and head into Gundabooka National Park to look at artworks and climb mountains we then head to Trilby Station another Outback Bed stations stay
