Burabay Glamping - Oasis in the Steppe
[Music] [Music] hey everyone so we finally got to budape so we're in a small town named shuchinsk and in the back just like the hollywood sign we're ready to roll so routinely we always stop at astana nurey which is a local hotel in the restaurant we had a quick bite to eat and head out for the mountains so [Music] [Music] wow [Applause] now [Music] oh [Applause] [Music] [Music] so the legend goes allah gave everybody all the countries all the beautiful mountains all the beautiful lakes and um all the beautiful nature the canyons and everything and it seemed that kazakh people got upset that allah didn't give him anything other than just the flat land pretty much he heard that this particular place was given to them as a small piece of land which is almost like a heaven and such a beautiful place there's lakes there's hiking there's mountains there's rock there's rocky mountains there's tree mountains uh there's a beautiful smaller islands and uh casual people this is a special place so for me as well [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] he's gonna decide to catch himself for a little bit it's not that bad fun fact americans do travel to kazakhstan check this out it says texas right there [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] my [Music] uh [Music] [Music] so [Music] as you can see most of the people here are in ponchos and umbrellas due to the super super cold weather and unbear unbearable winds as you can see the weather sucks you know so we're just uh here just to see the views for a couple of days and it's pretty much going to be raining for the next five days so we we decided to head out [Music] 69 70 71. [Applause] being a native floridian we can all agree that we hate rain just as much as we hate tourists driving 10 miles under the speed limit considering the importance of burabai to me and my family we had to come back there during better weather a month later while we were in nursultan waiting for buddha by weather to get good again luck was finally on our end the weather was great again in a short notice we were able to book a glamping spot at burabai marine yacht club trash for the confused audience out there glamping means glamorous camping aka rich people can camp too alright so let's teleport back to the [Music] love future [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] this is a mexico cancun north florida we're actually in burubai we rent a cabin here with the lake and we plan to stay here for about three days this isn't camping camping in a sense but we do get a bed with the mattresses we get a public kitchen public bathroom and a public sink that's about it and a whole lot of nature i do see a lot of camper trailers here which is surprising considering kazakhstan you don't see a lot of those then this is also a park where you can just park your camper and camp out and swim and hike and do whatever you want [Music] [Music] [Music] ah [Music] [Music] [Music] as the sun was setting we wanted to cramp as much as we could into our short stay we put on our sneakers and headed into the enchanted forest so the forest and burrabai ah bugs spiders it's spiders where they come from i don't really know so the forest in burabai it looks enchanted [Laughter] they look like something from from a fairy tale honestly i don't say it just to hype this place up but it's it's definitely a different kind of feeling here [Music] so another great benefit to stay where we stayed is actually how close it is to the hiking trail there's three places you can you can hike you can either hike to buy letters kind of looks like the hollywood letters you can also hike to the lake and you can also hide up all the way up the mountain which is pretty cool all we had to do is just literally we we crossed the road and we're right on the hiking trail [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh okay we just started hiking and she decided to go on hands and the fact that she's not even tired she just does it because she knows i never say no to her i decided when they're young i promise to myself i'll always carry them if they ask me because once they grow older they may not ask me you know so although this hike wasn't easy due to a steep climb in the next few days we realized that this was an undifficult hike comparing to what lies ahead of us we let our feet rest from walking while our butts took some beating on the hardly rock rocks as the sun sets behind the mountains we quickly rush back to the campground [Music] [Applause] [Music] when the overflowing and these places that i got to be going before the morning birds jerk and sing before the very first telephone rang i stopped and give thanks for the gift of my life the air that i breathe and the gift of my side the sweet little queen in a dream right beside me she's my whole world and the life inside me oh what we think is what we grow strong and steady and smooth and light love's gonna make this all [Music] [Music] all is [Music] there's so many people that are gonna come around trying their best just bringing you down oh and that's simply how the way things [Music] are the ones right beside [Music] is [Music] okay so initially when we rented the cabin just because we saw a heated space bed and we saw that the bed sheets we sort of assumed that it was kind of like an all-inclusive it includes a restroom and sink nearby and even the kitchen a public kitchen but apparently they don't rent anything else so they don't rent glasses or cups or spoons so we end up improvising a lot of the things as you can see in the coffee making today but i think the coffee came out pretty good especially considering all the effort that went into it so so how do you know if you're in the muslim country i'll tell you you will see a lot of dates dates are very common in most muslim countries they eat them for breakfast they eat them as desserts i know we have dates in the u.s and i know we all live right and we love them but i i do recognize that in a lot of at least central asian countries dates are everywhere [Music] [Music] [Music] we came to the field of abu layhan ab laihang was uh it's he's a celebrity in kazakhstan he was one of the warriors and apparently he died in this field so from the field you can actually climb up the mountain honestly it's pretty tough it's a steep climb not many kids can probably do it but our skin [Music] [Music] okay so apparently we took a wrong turn and then might have had had been the reason why it's so tough here at the at the field all the way at the bottom he's supposed to take a sharp right and instead we just went up the mountain we're trying to cut the trail to get to the right one [Music] so it looks like we're on the right track we just found the sign 470 meters until the top [Music] at this point i stopped recording our hike because the conditions of the trail became more dangerous and to your surprise i cherish my kids health just a little more than this video the last 250 meters of the trail was extremely difficult and dangerous due to loose rock and gravel we're very patient picking our path forward oh [Music] [Music] [Music] they say it's not this particular one but the mountain right next to it it's the one the highest one in the north region it's uh 947 meters which is equivalent to you do the math [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] with grass [Music] so we decided to rent russian banya it's a little more hardcore than the regular sauna it has a lot more moisture and a lot more heat so we love it since we came to kazakhstan that was one of our main goals is to try to do as many saunas as possible and i think we've successfully done that we this is our ninth maybe russian sauna um so we definitely enjoy it and usually we get this type of fish this is called palette and we get a bunch of fruits and vegetables and uh in the beer and this is uh as fresh of beer as you can probably get so other than that we're just here to have a good time kids have their own little pool which is heated underneath there's a little stove that cooks it heats up the water so we're not really worried about the cold weather um [Music] is one of my favorite things to do in baraboy um i've i've really dreamt of this moment because this fish is so tender and so smoky and juicy it's buttery soft honestly this is a great obsession every eight [Music] right [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so we decided to rent this little pedal boat okay kids you're ready one two three [Music] behind me it's jumbotas which is a mystery mystery rock and sometimes if you look at one side you can see an old woman on another side you can see a young lady the the large mountain right here you can see an elephant there each of the mountains they have a special each of the mounts and they have a special thing about them there's also one that looks like a hedgehog lane on their back um yeah so we just we're just taking it easy just having fun [Music] oh [Music] [Music] we decided to do a little bit of hiking my brother-in-law told me about the secret place hold on maybe i'm getting ahead of myself let's start from the start [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] okay let's start over my brother-in-law told me about the secret place secret family place it's been given to him from generation to generation so the coordinates know only our family and maybe some of these guys you know whoever vandalized the rock and a little bit of other guys who vandalized that rock too but other than this small group of people no one really knows about this place [Music] [Applause] you know we do try to take uh eggs like plastic bags you know with fruits and stuff we'll eat them up there and then as we go down because obviously it's a little easier collect trash pretty much everywhere we go but it's like do you throw trash in your house no you don't do you throw trash in your neighbor's house maybe but nature isn't your neighbor [Music] so one of the underrated things to do here it's to walk around the burabai lake although the there there isn't a whole lot of trails uh like paved trails most of the trails are just uh very wild you know nature trails one of the best paved trails is actually around the lake they kind of look like that those are very very scenic trails they're scenic hot spots so for our last day we decided to just hike around the whole lake [Music] is [Music]
