24 Hours in Tochigi | Breakfast Lunch & Dinner
good day everybody and welcome back to another video and greetings once again from tochigi prefecture on this video we're going to visit and explore a secret hidden cave cook our own pizza at a stone quarry try one of the best gyoza dumplings in town check out some ancient sites and temples and enjoy local wagyu beef sukiyaki and so much more we literally walked like 30 seconds maybe not even 30 seconds from where we stayed last night and we're here check this out first thing we see is the heiwakandon statue this is a giant buddhist statue carved into a rock this statue was entirely carved by hand and finished in 1954 here we are at the oia condom buddhist temple it is a very old temple that is set inside the the side of a rock face the temple dates back to the year 8 10 and even from the outside it's pretty impressive because the temple is you know built you know like like on the bottom of this uh like natural oya rock [Music] so here is a kane home cooling yes this is where you can see the entire stone coring process okay so we're in the quarry walking around the quarry and we found this place called kalihon saiseki jo and apparently you can get some freshly baked pizzas here so can we do that can we do that everything is made with oei storm here the rocks yes clams yeah this is fantastic oh my goodness in front of us there is the place they are digging coring the stones yeah yeah people are working here we need helmets to enter this place all right okay helmet yes you know how i love helmets yes how do you look very good thank you thank you very nice thank you do i look fashionable yeah all right let's do it oh my goodness oh wow look at this uh oh this is so cool this is so cool a lot of new experiences on this tochigi tour i gotta tell you you know harvesting carrots and visiting a quarry like this this is incredible they quarried 40 meters 40 meters 40 meters but still there are 60 meters under this under 600 meters 600 meters 600 meters this is where they're um cutting the blocks of stone here with this machine here yeah this is where you can tell that they've chiseled all the different patterns i don't know i find the patterns on the surface of the rock pretty amazing we're at the base of the quarry and this area in particular is very interesting because it took about 160 years to dig up all this in front of us 160 years i think this place is very good for geography lovers my father is and i want to take him here yeah not sure about my family but i still think we would enjoy seeing this place it's pretty fascinating because i'm not really interested in geography but this is super interesting for me yeah this is very very very very interesting you can learn the geography or history of the earth and the life with this stone yeah i feel like i should make a t-shirt that says interesting because i don't know how many times i say the word interesting on this video okay so there are two ways you can enjoy this quarry one you can pay an admission fee to enter and just check out the place but what we encourage you to do is pay just a little bit extra more and you can bake your own pizza so these are the ovens here look at that they're using the uh the oya stone to make these uh these ovens yeah look at it right so we're gonna make our own pizza here so this is the bread she baked right now freshly baked bread still very hot [Music] still steam is coming out the freshly baked bread as well as a sample of the rice that they make in the uh oya stone rice cooker is included in the admission fee we're gonna go eat the rice now oh look at this oh check it out so the rice is just ready for us as well so let's go sample some rice cooked in that special rice cooker so this is the rice we're just about to sample italia hello rice spicy palak roll and the rice itself it has a little butter as well just buttery that's delicious this one is increasingly cooked in oil system rice cooker rice i want that you know i'm surprised at how reasonable the price is it's 800 yen to get yourself inside here and this includes the quarry tour as well as the bread that we just had and this rice that's not all you also get a package of cookies like this that's the logo of the company and these two cookies are telling you that uh this place is uh registered as a japanese cultural heritage site and also made with oya it's beautiful [Music] hi we're going to say oh my gosh look at all these beautiful people clapping for us [Music] i'm impressed with all the people in here they're clapping for us by the way we we asked them to just give us one pizza it's usually one pizza per person but we're going to be eating more food after this so yeah we're kind of getting stuffed already i did pretty well you did you did looks really good the pizza i baked [Music] hmm you sure did the pizza is good the pizza itself is good like fresh out of the oven you know nothing better than that compared to the domino's pizza we had recently it was terrible it was cold when it arrived at our doorstep nothing against domino's pizza but cold pizza come on i like this crispy pasta now for me the most important part of the pizza is the crust it really is for me what do you guys think so anyway this is a great experience we're gonna head on over to the gyoza shop because you know we are in tochigi after all and utsudomiya which is in tochigi is famous for what gyoza gyoza that's the most popular thing and everybody in japan knows that talking about utsunomiya gyoza is necessary yes it is we have come to takahashi gyoza this is considered to be the best gyoza place in utsunomiya a lot of people from all over japan come here just to eat their gyoza so i am so excited after a 30 minute wait we got our food today we got the nida gyoza which is made of chives we got the iberico pork gyoza we also got a soup kyota three types of gyoza today every morning they take into account the weather the temperature and they adjust the water accordingly to make the perfect gyoza wrapper amazing so here we have the nida gyoza and mira means chives once again as you can see the crispy surface right here oh these look so good i can't wait okay let's give this a try look at that looks so perfect doesn't it we're gonna dip it into the gyoza sauce the gyoza skin is very thin it's super thin so the crispy part is like super crispy and the filling is so flavorful lots of veggies inside really really good balance of flavors and please forgive us with a mask on our face we have to wear a mask while we're speaking in this restaurant so just to let you guys know itadakimasu the feeling is flavorful little bit sweet it's a natural sweetness of ingredients gyoza so tokyo i love to cook yoga this one has more sweetness of pork so much umami or pork i love this too okay my turn to try the pork the pork gyoza rico pork [Music] this one i feel has more garlic also it's sweet because of the natural sweetness from the pork itself finally we got soup kyoza this is the gyoza dumplings in a soup you can drink the soup of course it comes with a sliced green onions as well there are five pieces of kiosa in one serving let's give this one a try oh that's yummy too this one again is very different from the the first two that we had um you don't get that um you don't get the taste of any oil because this one is simply boiled in the soup this one has a more dashi base flavor like a dashi stock flavor of course you know all the flavors of the vegetables inside the onions the garlic the ginger delicious i want to see soup more clear than ramen soup but kind of like that a little bit the ginger flavor every gyoza in this shop has a very good natural sweetness i really don't know which one i like better the soup gyoza or the fried gyoza i usually prefer fried one but this is amazing so here we are we came to cape x and this is our tour guide that's guiding us today he's dressed in the uh the original clothing that the uh the people at the quarry used to wear back in the olden days this is a the god of the mountains this was here from a long time ago so we're about to enter the mountains the first thing we have to do is pray for our safety so once again we are on the cave x tour this is an exclusive tour that you can participate in by going to the link in the description below this video oya green tourism is where you want to go for these exclusive tours now the reason why this place is called the kvx tour is because this place is hidden the cave itself is hidden and the public isn't allowed to come to the cave by themselves in fact this whole area is protected so really the only way you can see this is through oya green tourism and the amazing thing is the person guiding us through this area right now his family has been living in this area for around 300 years can you believe it that's incredible we are going to enter the so-called cave x okay i'm getting a little bit nervous i really shouldn't be yeah they asked me if i was claustrophobic and i said no but that was a total lie i am a little bit claustrophobic but i think it's gonna be okay it's gonna be okay right you guys are with me so here we are at the entrance of the cave the mysterious cave oh my goodness long long time ago this place was under the water under the ocean so still these rocks contained so much minerals and in the in the winter season they came out and become like a flower it is called ishinohana and our guy said you can actually taste it and it tastes very salty so you gotta wear these helmets to the lights because it's gonna become very very dark oh my goodness please wait for me everybody it doesn't feel claustrophobic at the moment it's quite wide isn't this exciting i feel like i'm in an adventure oh wow look at this so here you see this is the the rock flower the salt that's come out of the rocks so this is all rock flower the rock flower i tasted i'm gonna try some yeah wow can you see what it looks like oh it looks like snow it is amazing okay i'm gonna try some of this the salt it tastes like salt but also it tastes a little bitter tastes like the earth so basically we've entered an ancient stone quarry i think in your way it takes 10 000 times yeah i think you know no no i think it'll take at least a hundred thousand times to get this just started to rain outside but the sound is so nice you know like i like i wish i could record the sound so that i can use it to sleep at night the only light we have is the light on our helmets and the little lamp over there all right so we came out of the cave and right now we're walking through the forest again so we just toured around an ancient cave in an ancient quarry this was amazing it's really nice cafe here standard bakers i wish it wasn't raining i mean it's still okay but you know if it weren't raining it would be sitting outside really nice outside ceiling so i got something called the tochi unbutter and the reason why i got this is because well we are in tochigi after uh and strawberry season so i have to get this [Music] that was good that really is good cranberry and cream cheese pasta it's rustic style bread and inside is cream cheese and cranberry [Music] [Music] this bread bread pop is hot type it's chewy but it has the beautiful cranberry flavor crumbly that's a sourness but this cream cheese make it mild so we've been in tochigi for two days we're gonna be staying overnight again tonight but um i gotta say i really had a good time here and i'm surprised at how many cool looking cafes and shops i find in this area you know we're in a rural area of tochigi but a lot of nice cafes here so one more place we wanted to visit is this store called bertelashe and this is located right in the center of everything i thought it was a michigan it's like a rest stop for parking area it's like a rest stop in the middle of a like a road but this is more like a gigantic souvenir shop the thing i love about these shops you can find a lot of local products here for example here all the vegetables you see here are local locally grown all the souvenirs are from the tochigi prefecture it's like you can pick up everything you need from this one shop this is candle shade i love this color and the atmosphere of this rock yeah this is a paperwork paper wait yeah and it's the pen holder this one what shall i say i don't know but look at this and this is cute frog frogs frogs in japanese it is so have a safe return home yes have a safe trip to home so strawberry stuff so many many strawberry stuff here yes tochigi is very famous for strawberries these are so unique because these are made with the remnants of the oya stone and that's such a great idea because they can't do they can't use it you know as stone for building so now they're putting it to a new use all right guys we have just checked into the lakeland country club and we got room 205 a and b rooms it's quite a unique room i gotta say cool thing about this bedroom is that it has a high ceiling kind of reminds me of our apartment because the high ceiling you know so i think it is a little bit too smaller than b room because shinichi is a queen so he needs a bigger size room hello hello but this room is also comfortable look this double sized bed and there is a oh there there are some drinks right water or drinks yes you gotta pay though yeah here's the price list we're the only two guests staying tonight so fortunately we can show you the bath area but this is where you get changed and this is where you dry your hair you check yourself to make sure you look presentable before going out last dinner last dinner of our trip this is no karasaki hmm this sucker has a depth and refreshing sake little bit dry and it has also the sweetness lightly sweetness here's appetizer plate three appetizer simmered crumb and this one is guakasagi and mozuku with ginger first i'll try this simard clam it's filled with kram umami pakasagi it's a freshwater fish don't worry no fishiness it's texture it's really good forever is really good mozart with ginger mosuku is a seaweed refreshing very refreshing using vinegar this is pork on top of this mustard amazingly nice pork flavor mmm this is very good pork all right so i'm gonna dig in to the sashimi platter so the sashimi platter consists of tuna we got hirame which is flounder and amayabi which is sweet shrimp look how beautiful it is beautiful i'm gonna start off with the tuna dip into my soy sauce look at that color oh that looks so amazing this has like just the right amount of fattiness which i love okay so this is red sea breem madai in japanese i love how they have the char grilled on the surface this looks so good look at that such a clean flavored fish i love the char grilled surface gives it like that chocolate flavor which i love on fish totally different flavor and texture from the tuna okay and that is the sweet shrimp right here dip into my soy sauce i'm usually not a fan of raw shrimp but this is actually pretty good hmm when did my taste buds change so the next dish is a fish called kinder some of my favorite japanese dishes it's a basted with a miso and it's grilled to perfection it comes with a sliver of pickled ginger and sweet potato the complexity that the miso adds to the flaky fish is amazing it's really amazing it's a pretty delicate fish i gotta say so good and you have this like pickled ginger here this acts as a really nice palette cleanser like in between bites every fish so sukiyaki time this is tochigi wagyu it's a local brand beef first i grease the pan with some beef fat and put this beautiful marble beef inside and lightly glued and turn it over and pour a little bit warishita sauce still it is a little bit red it's okay and deep into this egg here is the meat the beef meat melt in my mouth and it's this beef is flavorful and the worst is so tasty what is the flavor and this meat flavor is combined so nicely it's into one like mariachi it's their first taste of the very special tochigi brand wagyu beef can you believe it like um gone it just melted in my mouth it's that tender i swear japan really has some good beef it's really hard to choose like like where which region of japan has the best beef because they're all pretty good but this tochigi brand i've never heard of it before and i don't know why i've never heard of it before because it's really good i also cook some vegetables i'm gonna go ahead and take some of the enoki mushrooms this warishita or sukiyaki sauce is perfect it's perfect it's not too salty it's not too sweet super well balanced wow i swear we've been eating a lot of good food recently my meat i gotta flip over my my my beef right here my beautiful wagyu meat there we go look at that look at that it's perfect you know because it's so marbled if you overcook it it's just gonna melt of course we always have to end with dessert and luckily this meal comes with dessert it comes with a platter of mini cakes and a fruit and today's fruit is an orange and we got something that kind of looks like a blueberry cheesecake i was correct that's kind of like a blueberry cheesecake layer with a layer of sponge on the bottom and look how cute the oranges look at how they cut it um super refreshing light way to end this sukiyaki dinner good morning everybody ah what a beautiful overcast cloudy day that's okay the temperature is perfect huh look at this view look at this view guys yes this hotel is situated on the golf course this hotel actually caters to golfers look at the mountains in the background all the nature before this trip i never thought much about tochigi prefecture other than utsunomiya gyoza because that's what tochiki's famous for most famous for so i am really happy that we made a trip to tochigi this time because i got to know a lot more about this place i didn't know about all the agriculture and yummy food i'm just really really happy so it is breakfast time and we are now in the dining room i got the western breakfast well satoshi got the japanese breakfast you can see the olea stone being used all over this dining room and i love it i i'm in love with this particular stone it has a very special character it's beautiful so i got the eggs and bacon it also comes with a side of toast with butter and strawberry jam as well as a salad with tomatoes cucumber and a little serving of yogurt with blueberry sauce so i got milk tea you guys know how much i love milk tea this is nice it's so nice and also the views spectacular from this room it'll lightly butter my toast i'm gonna put some strawberry jam on just one side perfectly toasted um i love toast especially made with japanese shokuban it's so very so fluffy all right look at the color of the egg yolk guys once again just like last night they use special local eggs and they taste so good they have this intense flavor i ate that plain with neither salt or pepper because it's so good you really don't need anything on the eggs here in japan they don't like to have crispy bacon so it's not as crispy as the ones you get in america but i've kind of gotten used to eating bacon this way and i like it i like it it's good actually this is a pretty hearty breakfast ohayo gozaimasu so we are here in the clubhouse of this golf course yes we stayed at the lot but the restaurant is located the breakfast place the breakfast place is located in the clubhouse on my plate there's rice and griddle salmon egg i think it's raw egg natto seaweed scudani pickled vegetables soup and nori seaweed these are very difficult japanese breakfast first sip miso soup it's wakami seaweed rice i think this one is also koshikari that's good um sweetness and cooked perfectly so this is the main issue grilled salmon sometimes we put griddle salmon in the lunch box this one is flavored with salt so it is already has salt flavor and salt and salmon flavor is pretty nice low egg so mix it i put a little bit soy sauce just a little bit please adjust the soy sauce amount at your preference then rice i like egg rice this egg it's very flavorful the egg yolk is creamy one more thing you're curious about this natto of course you can pour up on rice or eat as it is put soy sauce mix this natto mix this natto i put this natto on combined into one it's so good it's really good nori seaweed of course you can eat as it is but many japanese people wrap wrap rice with this nori seaweed like this and wrap um so we've come to the end of our adventure in oyamachi in tochigi prefecture i had a great time did you yeah me too i did not know about oyama cheese mean either i amazed cory of this oya stone yeah i already think the stone itself is really pretty but you know learning more about how it's made and how it has been made i i appreciate a lot more now and i really enjoyed meeting with the locals here you know like the farmer lady the monk uh the person who took us around the quarry you know really had a good time yes and also the guide of our watula oh that's right that's right that was a very special tour that you can only experience with oya green tourism so we really hope you guys enjoyed watching this video as always let us know your thoughts in the comments down below don't forget
