This is ANKARA!! | A road trip with my old car
foreign a province that hosts a lot of interesting places it is home to the first zero waste City and thermal Paradise also one of the largest hyper saline lakes in the world and turkey's second biggest lake lake twos is located partly in Ankara the city itself is not only very vibrant but also the capital of the country after a very long ride from Istanbul and my car almost burning down we arrived in Ankara and our first stop was of course anat Kabir the mausoleum of Ataturk foreign Independence and also the founder and the first president of the Republic of Turkey introduced a lot of reforms and also modernized the country that's why today he is kind of the symbol of the Turkish Nation it took almost 10 years to build the mausoleum the resting place of Ataturk today it is open to visitors and people from all around the world come to visit this place at the Trick's symbolic sarcophagus can be found in the Hall of Honor one of the reforms that attitude introduced between 1924 to 1938 to transform turkey into a modern State Wars the reform of the alphabet which replaced the Arabic one with the Latin alphabet the clothing reform women started to wear modern clothing men started to wear hats rather than the fats the secular organization of education and the legal system turkey was not long an Islamic State but a secular country he also introduced the same rights for women they now had to write to vote and also Sundays became a legal weekly holiday s 30th October 1937 so this building was probably opened in 1937 most famous train is obviously the cars trained the door expressi I use this train this winter so check out the video on the other side there is the new building of the train station where the high-speed Railway starts at the end of the old train station there's also a museum so if you're into trains definitely come here because here are a lot of train replicas from the ottoman time and we can see even Bridges where trains used to cross like this one in the same building just one floor up is actually the house that used to belong to other truck and here we have ataturk's bedroom wow I did not expect this and there's also no entrance fee this is the bedroom of hanum quite a hidden place so make sure that you don't only take the train from the train station but also check out the museum next to the train station is the gently Parker which means the park of the youth against Lake Park even though it has quite a young name it's actually very Historical Park it was opened in 1943. in this park there is a wedding hall so people can celebrate their wedding over here and also turkey's first science research center is also here in the park so we just made it to the city center of Ankara and I honestly didn't expect to see such a cute Old Town he is also the Ankara Khaleesi the castle of Ankara it is unknown when the castle was actually built but it is pretty big here we are at the main entrance of the castle there's like a huge area surrounded by really old walls from here there is an awesome view over the old town of Ankara but we can actually see the whole city the skyline wow it's impressive didn't expect Ankara to be this big to be honest when you're actually inside the city just feel so overwhelming but from here wow really really nice and authentic style in my opinion foreign I think people are really open-minded here and friendly this was the first test July no never Buddha okay never border or the baby clothes thank you so here we are probably in turkey's biggest doll collection there are thousands of dolls around us right now wow they said they have a collection of over eighteen thousand dollars which means that this is basically the biggest doll collection not only in Turkey but also in Europe in this building though they have over four thousand dollars is never uh Tennessee there are lots of souvenir shops around here this is like the main place of the old town and I must say people are really really nice here I have a uh wow foreign I love you John Lewis foreign they have so many choices you can just choose so this is the specialty of the house it's a donut room with kashamu all right it comes with a lot of sauce and some onions and cheese the Roman bath of Ankara which you can see behind me are remains from a huge Roman bath complex we can actually see an absolutely amazing ancient site in the middle of Ankara City this site was found in 1931 and it shows the great importance of the Roman city that this place once used to be ankara's old name was actually ankira something that caught my eye where definitely the Hebrew gravestones here on the side because Jews actually played a very big role during the Ottoman Empire and they contributed a lot to the economy back then and we can see that the gravestones from the Roman period have a bigger focus on the symbols foreign such a nice atmosphere they are old Ottoman style houses and actually lots of small shops where you can find some handicrafts and really really nice local products this was the hajjubara mosque was built in the 15th century and it is located here in the Ulus District right next to the Augustus Temple and it is extremely beautiful it was built in the talchuk style unfortunately nobody really knows who the architect was but in the 16th century the famous architect Dinan came here and rebuilt some of the parts of the mosque and later in the 18th century qutari at heights were added to the mosque in the museum of Anatolian civilizations there are countless artifacts representing those civilization and it is a really beautiful Museum not only inside but also outside and yeah for me it is time now to move on to leave Ankara City because there is a natural beauty waiting for me okay I'm now on my way to paper there that's around 100 kilometers from Ankara City Center so with tofash it will take me like one and a half two hours it's not so far but it's definitely worth the trip inshallah so foreign Museum it's right over here oh actually here emcs we are inside the museum there are a lot of artifacts from the past and also they explain a lot about the culture aspects of the town or the the area wow foreign wow chalk is that okay ah foreign foreign foreign ah foreign here we are in the washroom and also we can see the toilet um foreign these situations are really difficult for me to understand as a German because they invite me but I don't want to accept it could be rude to accept them I don't want to be rude and just accept it like if it was um yeah you know really difficult for me should I have accepted this offer and go for lunch with them or did I do the right thing I really don't know sandals evidence because I guessing I'm really super hungry so I'm still looking for something to eat so you can see the prices of the restaurant looks very affordable comparison to Istanbul one of the most popular restaurants here the Taj maktap restaurant welcome to Francis Food review foreign stuffed wine leaves with meat my absolute favorite Turkish dish I'm super excited for this because usually I only eat yapak Sama without meat etsies it's really really delicious we also have the actually gouverji it's very very good chocolate I'm an absolute fan of these stuffed wine leaves absolutely delicious it's homemade food very very good quality Bay pazar is also the place of Bay Plaza the mineral water of bay pazaro and actually this mineral water is so popular the biggest Factory of mineral water in whole turkey is from Bay pasado cheers wow foreign wow come on okay um America why Wow so I'm now here in the yashayan museum it's an amazing Museum where they are taking you around and literally where you can make arts and crafts and it's super super cool to be here foreign I absolutely loved it I learned a lot and now I'm actually going more towards a National Park area called nalahan I'm going to Camp there tonight and it's like 30 minutes from here thank you yesterday time Beauty in the Monday and as the light startled our eyes it's really really beautiful place and it's so easy to access just on the way from Bay Plaza to nalahan I would everybody recommend to come here because these Mountain views with the lake and the birds is something that I haven't seen before oh dreaming here we go good morning I had a really great night here even though I was the only one there's my car and now I'm actually going to a very ancient city this is a bird's Paradise so it's really really natural and I'm really really glad that I took the extra time to come here the ground I have now arrived in yes and as you can see I'm literally the only person here I'm here because of Guardian the ancient city let's explore the ancient city of Guardian one of the most important archaeological sites of the fridge in time because this used to be the capital of the phrygians the most interesting feature of the Guardian ancient city are probably the hills that you can see from a distance and they will actually use 700 BC to bury the elite Society of the place I think that's very interesting and you can actually spot over a hundred of those hills around the ancient city here if you watch my skg here or Africa is a video you already know everything about the phrygians phrygians are in a European speaking people that used to live in central western Anatolia so this area in integrity and this city was not only huge but it also existed for a very long time it was occupied for more than 4 000 years from the Bronze Age all the way to the modern times and today there's also a museum where we're going right now just two kilometers from here when you read about the frigence you will also notice that you will read about the King Midas a lot it's actually just somebody that they look up to like a God it is called Midas Tom Midas tumulusu but actually they are not really sure who the person in the Tomb actually was they believe that because it was much earlier than the Midas time actually that it was the father of Midas guardios foreign and also the way goes all the way to the tumulus quite narrow so if you have some anxiety might not be the best idea I'm super excited to see it we will actually go under this hill where they buried the important people okay here we are wow that's amazing we can see the wooden structure inside the mound and it was definitely a different kind of construction that I've never seen before wow here we can see an opening to the actual Tom and in there everything made out of wood it's definitely a different structure and very well reserved this top is probably over 3000 years old I'm going back now to the overground there's one question that I've been asking myself what makes Ankara the capital rather than Istanbul well the answer is pretty easy the city has a very historical political but also social relevance here in Turkey a hundred years ago Ankara was not as big as it is today it was rather a small town but Ataturk came here to plan the battles and the revolution so it became a very very important point of the Turkish war of independence so it was October the 13th on 1923 when Ankara officially became the capital of Turkey the First National Assembly was established here in Ankara even though Istanbul is much bigger in size and also population we can say that Ankara has a very big strategic importance that see you next time
