find out more [Music] welcome back well today I have the distinct pleasure of getting into the spirit heart brain of someone who I consider to be absolutely brilliant completely submitted to God very real and authentic and who God has given unlimited amounts of patience for my husband and I in our journey he and his wife Pat have come alongside us in many seasons and they have had just the right Council love advice to help us transition and get on the other side of it and it wasn't an easy task that God gave them it was very tedious and forever I am eternally grateful for men of God and women of God who say yes to Jesus and you did and so thank you Jim I appreciate you so much you're a blessing so remember the song you know that said where do I begin to tell the story that's kind of how I feel about you and your books where do I begin you know you have 23 books and God keeps giving them to you probably because you're faithful and you write what he tells you to do but before we get into the heart of this interview I want to say this book has been on my nightstand and helped me for six months straight and you say that this this is the season that we're in Jezebel is attacking everybody we know now the interesting thing is most people especially in the church setting have linked the name Jezebel to driven opinionated women yes that is not the case that is this one that is true this one is really about a principality that is over this whole continent it has a consequence we are seeing the fullness of its attacks against individuals as against us corporately this day okay you can go to Jim and patbanks.com this is gold all right and then this is a new book a god ordained transition maybe a month old okay and so tell us just one liner on this this is about um the passage in John 15 15 where Jesus says to his disciples guys I'm not going to call you a servants anymore because you're kind of Clueless you don't know what I'm up to but from now on he says I have past tense prepared I'm gonna call you friends so there's this place that we have to make a transition into and there's some steps along the way but this is the place he's prepared for us yeah but there has to be some intentionality on our part to be able to get there so this is hot off the press we're going to become a friend of God excited all right now these books the Enemy Within the words on fear dealing with fear which is another biggie yes this was a textbook in our Bible College um that we used for Real World School of ministry very helpful and then there is the Insidious dance what's that about the paralysis of perfectionism oh how many of us struggle with perfectionism there is a prayer in there called resigning from the system of the world that everybody needs to pray about every 15 minutes I think are renewing our mind renewing our mind exactly okay and then this this is what put you and Pat really on the map on on the radar where people said okay this is a now word and you're dealing with traumas correct so this is a classic from the banks Library 10 years old it is a classic I can't say yes yes this was also a textbook in our Bible College which helped set so many people free because trauma is a phenomena that the church really doesn't understand correct but we'll talk about it all right and then lastly and this is probably we'll we'll camp out for a little while and that is your newest book who am I and it's a workbook which is phenomenal and it has lots of interactive questions where you sit with the holy spirit so let's springboard off this to start okay tell us about it well I want to start at the other end of it okay um trauma is is created to do one thing and that is to mess with your personal identity yes if you don't know who you are you won't know why you're here you'll never figure it out you'll lots of distractions and detours along the way and so this is kind of where it began and so part of what Pat has amassed is is some pieces of how we resolve the trauma from people but eventually you're going to come to this place because typically what happens is trauma has so impacted you you don't really know who you are you've just been trying to survive for an extended period of time and here you are in this place that I don't know what I like I don't know what I care about I don't know what I'm passionate about and I gotta I need some help you're lost yeah or you feel lost you aren't lost but you feel lost true true it also happens for individuals who are experiencing The Empty Nest where your whole life has been dedicated to raising children and they're gone and now I don't spend any time on me so I don't know who I am or what I what I really want to give myself to um this really all started off um a few years ago we had a a workshop at church put on by an internet Guru guy for entrepreneurs and Independent Business people and because we fit that General category and it was free I decided I needed to go so I went to this thing but it just it took a direction that I didn't ever anticipate and I walked away with this question have I ever sat down and intentionally defined who I am no I hadn't so I took pad and pin sat down and started writing and about 15 minutes later I realized this is a gigantic waste of time because all I'm doing is describing who I am is a function of what I do and when other people have said you are right and we're not what we do although there ought to be some reflection of it in who we are and what we do so I was like Lord you know I understand I don't get this and he said well I want you to go back to the foundational elements that you described and let's start there so okay I'm a father I'm a son I'm a husband I'm a grandfather I'm and he said stop right there what is the absolute basic element well I'm a man okay he said as a man or conceivably as a woman do you have authority huh never thought about it yeah it's in the book yes okay and I thought well if you have responsibility then responsibility grants you the authority to accomplish it so yeah and the Lord goes wrong answer okay I recognize that one as performance um well I suppose you know if if I see somebody who's in trouble then my compassion would compel me to go assist them and he said wrong answer he's playing The Gong Show yeah yeah and that's just Lord I just I don't get it I just don't get it because of this performance it's huge that we have and so he said well I'll take it slow for you so that'd be nice I love your conversations with the Lord I really appreciate that you engage with him on the level you do well it's it's real yeah it has to be and so um he said in Genesis chapter one I said I'm creating you in my image and then Jesus comes along and tells his disciples when Thomas asked him to show us the father and he says well if you've seen me you've seen him so you ought to be able to go to the New Testament and look into the life of Jesus Christ as declared in the New Testament and pull out characteristics of him that are also in you some of them may be only minuscule but others more well developed so it's like okay when he shows compassion which you can see in multiple places how do I demonstrate compassion right am I a mentor as he was am I a teacher of Truth as he was am I a good friend and on and on and on so that begs the question of okay what else is in that that living your life to survive doesn't compel you to ask questions about because if you can't look into something you can neither defeat what you see nor can you honor what it shows you so if you're not honoring how you've been created then what is your expectation in life is going to be I'm going to be a miserable prune and not just existing I'm not going to be happy and there's lots of miserable unhappy Believers out there right yes there are so there has to be this this introspection if you will in concert with the Holy Spirit saying I need to answer these questions you know where how do I show compassion how are how is my value as a human being established what establishes or who establishes it and have I given power to individuals to establish whether I'm acceptable or not to the wrong people and many of us have guilty guilty yeah because we live in a performance-based society performance for acceptance approval addiction we even go to performance-based Works churches sure sure and this is this is hard because what happens to us is I even reinterpret The Gospel according to them okay we all know that faith without works is dead yes okay we also know that without faith it's impossible to please God right okay so what does that say to me living in the world number one I have to create faith I have to focus it and keep it focused I have to nurture it I have to protect it I I I I I I and it's all about me rather than the one that I'm supposed to have faith and trust in yeah so it's like what what is what happened here to me how is it that I bought into this system and I don't even see it or appreciate it and how has it poisoned the word of God and the way I see it and receive it see that's that's part and parcel of what this this book of transition is oh transition let me get to that let me get to that one yeah it's this it's this place of what is what is a servant like yeah okay and that's how so many of us have lived Our Lives is um I don't really know what God is up to in my life or the life message that I have or my purpose so I'm going to serve it within the confines of the institutional church and I'm not bashing Church by the way all I'm saying is if my mentality can't expand and I'm stuck in this place where just being a servant is sufficient for me then I think and act like one which means my mindset is such that I can't perceive a much bigger Vision than what I'm walking in I'm trying to just do what I've been told to do I'm trying to fulfill the responsibilities that I have yes I'm trying to do it excellently yes for the glory of the Lord yeah exactly but is that is that what you were created to do right well maybe but maybe not and I don't want to stand before the Lord on Judgment Day and have him go um well you were close but yeah you know you missed it didn't quite hit the bullseye no so it begs a whole series of questions of Lord do I think like a servant am I risk averse am I so so much more concerned about my reputation as it were than yours yeah yeah and then there's other simple questions it's like what do you love why do you love it what does it provide you those are powerful questions and most times as adults no one asks us those questions as children we could say our favorite candy our favorite color our favorite you know because kindergarten allowed for it but as adults when do we really get that gauge of what do you love and why what we think it comes automatically with adulthood it doesn't okay no it doesn't um when we were living in Kentucky I was asked to come um do mock interviews for high school seniors and I asked them they only had about 20 minutes so it's like they had a script and it's like get rid of this and so I asked him I said but what do you what do you want to do when you grow up well half of them said oh I'm going to college which isn't the answer to the question no it's not wrong but I've been there I've I've given the same answer yeah as though I'm expecting to figure that out somewhere along the way yeah and the sad part was there was not one adult in these eight kids who had ever asked him what do you want to do when you grow up yeah I mean what kind of life is that yeah it's not well that in some sense is kind of kind of how I grew up so when we moved from Nashville to to Myrtle Beach the Lord pulled me aside one morning he said I need you to look at re-evaluate every one of your values you have to know why you do what you do and after a couple hours with him it was like Lord you know and he said when did the top five priorities in your life become all about work in Ministry um that's hard for a man to hear yeah and he said your life is out of balance yeah fix it direct command yeah yes sir yeah so being a a guy I took up golf again thinking that would probably do it self-care that'll fix it right but it's that it's those kinds of it's those kinds of questions that we have to ask I need to know why I do what I do um years ago we were our oldest son was was about to get married and so we went I said let's take a song to Jack Frost Dentistry while he was still alive and we'll all get personal Ministry this would be wonderful so we did and in the ministry session that I was in the guy asked me he said um why do you do what you do and I thought man I pray for people what more noble aspiration could one individual possibly have fortunately they'd come out of my mouth but that's what I would think the Lord heard it yeah and the guy said you know there's this interesting little verse in Proverbs that says there's prophet in all labor said there there wouldn't be such a thing as Charity if we didn't get some reward for doing something nice for somebody else so I ask you and why do you do what you do it's like oh God you know that which I thought was so unselfish was so self-serving you know it was like dear me wow you know so so how did you fix it he told you to fix it it was an unhealed fatherhood there you go yeah there you go yeah so it's it's that place where if if I do enough good I will feel better about myself and I will prove to the rest of the world that I'm valuable yeah you know which is so common how many people do you work with because you work with groups you work you know you do symposiums and conferences you speak at churches you go to the foreign Mission field with Heidi Baker and others and you minister to them and their staff and you know you do Zoom calls every time I call Pat you're on you're in another room on a zoom call Alder and covid you did lives every day helping people how often do you see unhealed father wounds every time every time some are some are more impacted by mother wounds yeah but it just really depends but it's it's the reality of to me um it's the father's responsibility primarily to establish the identity of a child he does it by continued presence yeah but it also has to be a presence that is emotionally connected to the child where you understand and communicate understand what your child is going through not necessarily to fix it although that's part of part of your responsibility but it is that place where the message the child gets is you're important you're somebody what a great message yes but the interesting thing is I think this was 2000 16 or so the Veterans Administration did a study and found that 60 percent of the individuals who are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan who were clinically diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder never were an actual combat wow the kinds of children that are being raised today do not have the capacity to deal with the the structure the rules the regulations the pressure that are put on them right whereas the previous generation they did did it and but there was also the presence of the father so much more yes that's exactly right right so I you know I could talk to you forever but we have to shift um because we're coming to a close but I can't let this moment go without giving you the opportunity to pray with people loved him it's time to hear three minutes well father we just bless thank you that healing was your idea we thank you that restoration is in you and we thank you Father for your son the Lord Jesus Christ who said it was for Freedom that you set us free father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pronounce healing over every one of these individuals who is watching today regardless of what the situation is that you're dealing with I break the power of trauma in your life in Jesus name I break shatter cut off and destroy all of the trauma bonds that are generationally transmitted all of the trauma that has connected you to individuals to times to places to Seasons in your life and I just break I break in Jesus name this attack that has been on you from the millions of Jezebel yeah all of the perverted sexual stuff that's come not only through the media but even through your friends and I set you free from that I bind fear yes in Jesus name and father I just ask you in Jesus name for each one of these individuals who witnesses this prayer I ask father that you would be intentionally connected to be able to hear the voice of the Lord for you and I ask him father that you would so connect yourself with them that they would be able to feel your presence yes in Jesus name Hallelujah I feel um just God's healing touch and his presence I pray that you allow that to minister to your heart and I encourage you there's many healing tools go to Jim and patbanks.com he has one-on-one sessions via zoom and their Ministry and their testimony will change and transform you thank you for being part of today's program I'm Jim Allen and I encourage you to come home come home to heal and come back to the father [Music] foreign [Music]
