where did we start and there are a few reasons why we started Zealand while we started a podcast while we're going aggressively with our blog content on YouTube email marketing social media and the like and so the first reason and this is a major reason I bring up with clients is that business and consumer Behavior has changed so here's what you need to know just a few statistics from research and I'll quote most of the sources it says that 55 of people will search online for reviews and recommendations before making a purchase right 47 will visit the company website and 26 will check out the physical store with 23 of people talking with friends and family now and this is a research done by KPMG the reason why this is important though is because when I was younger I can't believe I'm old enough to say that but when I was younger when you wanted something you asked your friend or your family where will I get this at what price who is good to buy from now only 23 percent of people are gonna talk with friends and family before they make a purchase that means that word of mouth is not the way to grow anymore it's a small part of your success strategy but it's not by any means the be-all and all next statistic the top five things that influence buying decisions are lowest price enhanced delivery options easy return policy payment options and ability to see inventory availability and information about the product or service now that simply means that if you are open for eight hours nine to five or twelve hours seven to five or maybe even 14 hours there's still time where someone interested in your business cannot get your price cannot learn how to have their product delivered they don't have any information in your return policy no payment options and no ability to see if you actually have what they want they have to wait and most likely they have to visit to get all that information during business hours we solve all of this with our online business systems and we're going to discuss that a bit more it says that it is estimated by the year 2040 or 2014 95 of purchases will be through e-commerce now we all know Amazon we love Amazon we use Amazon we don't need to touch on this too much matter of fact when you want to buy something most people go to Amazon the reason people and that's by NASDAQ by the way that's a research by NASDAQ a statistic it says the reason people decided to buy include competitive pricing that's 36 percent preferred website Amazon 30 the best delivery options and price 17 stock availability 14 percent and that again is another statistic that supports what we previously discussed so what does this mean this means that you can't build it and they will come anymore because only 23 percent of people right not 23 but 26 of people will actually visit the physical store most people which is 55 percent of people are going to go online that simply means that if you have a store and you do not have an online business online presence sorry or you have a business and you're not online so you're not when when someone goes to Google and they search for example plumbers near me and you're a plumber and you're plumbing company does not appear in the search because you don't have a website and you have no Google presence whatsoever no social media that simply means that 55 of people searching for your business your service your products and services and businesses like yours cannot find you the solution is that you need to be online right so I always tell my clients social media that is uh Facebook and Instagram account Tick Tock these days is not the answer and it's very simple a lot of times you go on social media you spend a few thousand dollars over a few years growing your audience developing your account posting content and a policy change on the platform causes you to lose your entire years of work and investment or you have let's say 10 000 followers and you post something but only 100 people get to see it because what's called organic reach the clients now if you want to get back in front of your 10 000 followers that you spent years and years growing then you're gonna have to pay and that's not very convenient and at any point they can remove your account and that's that you have no say in word well you can query it but that doesn't necessarily mean that you will get your account reinstated so social media is not safe but it's definitely something that needs to be considered additionally you want to be able to be found on Google since over 90 percent of searches over 90 percent of online searches are conducted on Google and that is because with 55 of people will search online right so having a store having a business and not being online is a recipe for a disaster so we're going to go on to point two because we're leading somewhere here there's only one right way to run a successful business today and that is that you need online visibility which is what we've been touching on briefly some more statistics 19 of small business owners without a website believe that their business would grow by 25 in three years or less with the benefit of a website at the same time four to six percent of small businesses didn't have a web presence in 2018. 59 of Millennials will head to Amazon which is what I referred to before so 59 of Millennials will head to Amazon before any other website making them one of your biggest competitors right off the bat so think about this 55 just 55 of people will search online to check prices and inventory and delivery options and return policies and all of that good stuff before they actually do business and 59 of Millennials are going to Amazon before any other website that simply means that even if you have a website you're competing with Amazon if you're selling uh actual product and at the same time if you don't have a website that's how much Market you're missing out on it says that it is estimated that by the year 2004 and 95 of purchases will be through e-commerce and that's by NASDAQ and 18 of local mobile searches lead to a sale within one day so I made the example of a plumber recently where I said if you're a plumber and you don't have a presence online no social media no website no presents on Google you're missing out on a lot of Market I know this is saying that 18 of local mobile searches so someone has a leak or a faulted faucet and they go online plumbers near me 18 of those local searches will lead to a seal within one day now if you could increase your sale by 10 each day how much know that the way that business is done has changed so that's our first point our second point is that there's only one right way to run a successful business today is you need online visibility and we've looked at the statistics right now the third point is most businesses don't yet know exactly what they need to grow their business through online media and why do we say this we do a lot of consultations and a lot of quality enough websites and so on for clients and prospective clients and I've come to the point where I applaud a lot of businesses nowhere in Jamaica a lot of our clients are Jamaicans I applaud businesses with a website even if it's terrible because most businesses don't have websites but that isn't good enough right so what do we mean by that let's look at some statistics it says that 25 of small businesses have no idea what their lead generation conversion rates are no we talked about smart goals recently and we said that something that's specific or goals that are specific measurable attainable realistic and time bombed not smart we are more likely to achieve those goals than we are to achieve a goal that is just like okay I want to get more clients versus get 10 clients in the next four weeks another Statistics says that the top three most difficult things to do in sales compared to a few years ago include getting responses from prospects engage in multiple decision makers and closing deals now this means that you can't just go out there and think that all right I want some clients right and I'm going to get clients you have to do something systematic and calculated that's going to help you get those decisions from prospects to actually sign up and start doing business with you 71 percent of people don't trust sponsored ads so you go on Google you run some Google ads and you send it to your home page of your website 71 of people will see your ad and they won't trust it 69 don't trust advertisements in general because so much misinformation right and they believe that the point of the advertisement is to get the same necessarily to help and while that is kind of true that is not the message that we want to send as marketers as Seth Gordon says in his book this is marketing that's the book he wrote it in he says that marketing is best when it's done for the person not to the person and what it means is that if I am a 25 year old male at home I get to buy um let's say a Honda for example marketed to buy Honda to buy uh family van versus a sports sedan I am 25 I'm single I don't have a family I don't have a wife no kids then 100 passport perhaps is not the best thing for me but are under Odyssey but this is not that advertisement by the way but at the same time if they were going to tell me to get a nice sports car that would help me to attract a wife or a girlfriend then that would be a better marketing campaign for me at the age at 20 at the age of 25 sorry with no wife no family no girlfriend nothing so that's what marketing to and marketing for comes down to it's the best message for the right person under the right condition at the right time and that way you're received better I didn't say that 65 don't trust press releases and why would they I mean let's not touch on that too much but it's very easy to understand why so businesses don't know exactly what their numbers are they don't know how to get the clients in and most people most businesses most entrepreneurs will go to Google will go to Facebook and they will run ads but most people don't trust ads and paid advertisements so we're having a problem here businesses don't know how to get clients and clients don't like what businesses normally do which is their run ads and that's that so so what is the solution here the solution is very simple solution is that we need a system in place that's going to do a few things right it's going to attract your ideal client is going to build a relationship with them because people spend money with who they know love and Trust and it's going to do the right thing at the right time to get a sale and what that means right thing at the right time well at one point the client is going to need a free consultation to get to know your team get to know your methodology uh they're going to want to know who you've helped that was in their position and the results that you got them and then maybe then they'll make the decision to do business with you uh Black Friday and Cyber Monday past a few weeks ago most people were looking for sales they were looking for specials they were looking for a nice opportunity to save so at the right time you should present an offer that is hard for them to say no we know that there's a way for this to get done if not we wouldn't be here um Zealand's podcast would not exist they land would be bankrupt because this is what we do right we're gonna move on to the fourth point and then after the fourth point we're just going to look at exactly what you can do to get moving in terms of establishing a successful business the fourth Point says that we believe in the power of using the internet software and Technology to achieve online business success and this is this is what we pretty much started out with this is where we led the entire zelan team with this is why we started you see we we're going to start with the statistics first and then we'll go into the specifics of zelan I studied by invica says that 59 of Millennials will head to Amazon before any other website making them one of your biggest competitors right off the back and that's true because right there and then we know that most people use Amazon so if people are using Amazon that means there's a reason and Amazon is completely online you know minus warehouses and deliver and everything if Amazon has figured it out before there were a trillion dollar company or a couple hundred billion today that means that you can figure it out as well is estimated so this is the research by NASDAQ it's estimated that by the year 2040 95 of purchases will be through e-commerce so 95 95 of purchases will be done online all right and that's by NASDAQ and 92 of all online feedback is considered positive followed by a six percent neutral and two percent negative all right so 92 percent of all online feedback is considered positive and I myself am guilty of this I would refrain from leaving a negative review that would damage our company unless it's like really terrible and I said wow I need to warn people about this so they don't get burned like I did I would prefer to leave a positive review when I'm happy so there's that um most people and that's 45 47 share feedback on the seller's website followed by Facebook 31 brand websites 18 what's up 17 so that's the pretty much word I'm out right there and Instagram 12 on your website nearly half of your customers will leave their review if you don't have a website you're missing one of your most powerful conversion tools which is social proof social proof pretty much tells us that it's good for the goods it's good for the candidates works for Tom John and Harry it's going to work for me as as well if you don't have that tool working for you it's definitely working against you because it's not like if you don't have it it's fine if you don't have it you're
