Winter Hot Tent Camping: Caught in Unexpected Snowstorm in the Oregon Forest

good all right you guys welcome back to another episode hey this one's a little bit different um I'm out here with Nate from hike camp and climb hey everybody check it out so a lot of you guys have mentioned that hey I should do a collab with Nate here and so here we are so hopefully this is something you guys will enjoy and uh I think it's going to be a lot of fun I'm excited to get things set up oh yeah it's starting to snow which is awesome yeah this is perfect that wasn't expected so that's a bonus yep I might need to get on my raincoat I don't know about you but yeah I'm thinking it's it's uh I think I'm going to get wet here there it is last time I was wearing this you guys you might remember me talking about how it was it was just getting soaked and I needed to like maybe get a new one but a lot of you guys said that I should Scotch Guard it or put some sort of rain coat on it so I guess that's what I'll do but I haven't done it yet all right that's much better so I think I'm going to be camping over here look how beautiful it is you guys wow this is amazing you sure camping some beautiful spots Nate there's quite a bit of snow too Nate said last time he was here there was around 4ot but it's gotten warm and oh you know how that goes snow melts so I'll stomp out an area there and I'll get to setting up camp [Applause] right all right I'm trying to just kind of trying to level out this area before I put in the uh ground sheet there is a floor to this tent um so I want to do that so I'm flattening out where I'm going to have the stove and then where I'm going to sleep just trying to get it all good to go before I put down the [Music] floor what's nice about this floor is it has the fireproof mat built into it so you don't have to carry that so you don't have to worry about burning your floor at all which is really nice I thought that was a cool feature hey feels pretty level all right we'll go see what how far Nate got on his tent oh nice I'm lost we lost can't remember where this P oh he's got the nent what's this one called This is the gamma 4 gamma 4 yeah I've been wanting to see one of these I've seen them a lot on uh YouTube and and other people using them but uh I haven't actually physically seen one in person so it's pretty cool it's kind of cool that you brought the pomale Dome X because they're very similar similar so kind of cool to see what they look like compared to each other if I can figure out how to set this thing up I've done it once nice yeah it's it's basically basically the same tent as the pomale I mean design-wise kind of similar are you all set up not yet I still got a little bit more to do get the uh stove in there and all that so what stove did you bring uh it's the woods night the wood Knight stove I think you in your last video you used the new version okay I was say I that sounds familiar but I don't know if I've seen it yeah it's just like the trees looks like the forest's on fire gotta [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] a man it's coming down good you guys oh this is my favorite this is what I've been looking for this right here I I've had the snow on the ground but I haven't seen the snow fall and uh there's nothing better you guys really isn't Nate how you doing up there doing good yeah loving it is awesome this has been such a cool day um we've had Sunshine what was kind of like rain for a little bit now snow just dumping on us snowing pretty hard yeah it is you got your stove all set up uh yeah pretty much this is so cool yeah man I like your I like your tent yeah it's it's a nice tent I really like it inner tent is shaped like a a V and all the doors open so it almost feels like it's just a floor in there really yeah see the these doors zip all the way up oh that's amazing en yeah that is cool yeah it's and uh it looks like you have uh mesh but you can close it up y it's got two on each side so you can completely zip so it's a it's a hard sided like it's a it's a true Four Season tent yeah that's amazing yeah pretty cool we're getting dumped on you guys I'm loving it all right we're going to go head out and get some wood Nate said he had some stored from a previous time he was out here and then we got to chop out in some more cuz I don't think there's enough for both of us plenty of trees to choose from oh nice yeah a little bit there it is okay it goes down I was going to say I thought there was more than that St further down probably even drer yeah you're probably right nice and hidden down there man it's a beautiful Forest it I love it these are my kind of trees too at home we have like bull pine like they're just ugly pine trees yeah have you ever camped up around Mount Hood no there's a old growth forest up there oh really trees are just amazing over there they're they're huge first of all but they've got Moss hanging down off of all the branches oh yeah that's cool creepy cool there it is that look that is a good one right perfect good snap that's where the other one was next to it it looked a little drier than this one so I got it first so I think that'll work pretty [Applause] good [Laughter] exactly what happened on the last one got caught in the tree there we go that works that looks good good and drag good job excellent cutting thank you very much sir you fell that tree like a professional yeah I've uh felled a few trees in my day your Hatchet would work really well too just smashing them off I'm sure you can use it if you want I can start drawing it in [Laughter] section get home in my arms sore for a couple days afterwards matter if I do it every week it's still sore still silver my arms I know my arms cramped I can't hold the sa it is a good workout for one arm yeah exactly we be Popeye by the end one jacked arm and you got to switch it up I guess that's funny all right we got some good wood in here some of it's dry some of it's a little uh got snowed on a little bit snow's been coming down like crazy so kind of hard to hide from it when it's like that but we got everything processed and uh we're about to warm this tent up I'm excited about that well I didn't bring my comfy chair I've got this inflatable pad to sit on hey that'll work okay all right hey that's much better than sitting on the uh the cold ground I like that that's good okay so current time and temperature current time is 552 and it is 33° outside and 33 or 38° inside which for my Celsius friends that's 0 degrees Celsius outside and 3° Celsius inside so that's a lot of work you guys that was a lot of work so right now I think we're going to start the fire get it all warmed up in here get it nice and cozy make some dinner and then uh go enjoy that with with Nate so that's the plan you [Music] guys using a tumble weed [Music] I'm in some nice warmer clothes it's definitely climbing in temperature in here feeling really good um I went ahead and grabbed some snow and we're going to get some water going here cuz I'm thirsty and I need some of that we'll boil up some water I also have to use it for cooking cuz we're going to be cooking up some Ramen we're gonna have a Ramen dish tonight should be tasty I'm excited about it so out of all that snow that's what we got out of the water and there's quite a bit of gunk in there so I'll have to weed that out just went and got a fresh snow cone right there that's nice just needs a little uh little flavor to it not the yellow kind okay woo came out fast all right got some Ramen throw that in the pan oh man you guys that looks delicious I'm super hungry right now too you can't go wrong with some Ramen some pork some eggs that's some tasty stuff right there that makes for a good meal quick and easy that's what I need right now now all right let's that is so tasty you guys some pork barbecue pork Oh need to stack a couple pieces of wood underneath there to dry them out a little bit some of these are a little wet for sure that should help all Egg barbecue pork so it looked much prettier before but I've been eating some of it yeah well I'm glad you didn't wait for me cuz I took a long time to get this all cooked up oh it sorry about that I know how it is Oregon has a total of about 75,000 ft of elevation gain and Washington's over 100,000 cuz I had to I had to make it to this place on time right it's just nuts it's a little more pressure that way huh yeah cuz you have a permit it expires on a certain day so I got to hit Canada by this day and so you've got it all planned out I have to e this many miles a day and stop here I got food there and all right dinner was delicious you guys now it's time for some dessert so I went and picked up this U cake uh I'm sure some of you guys have tried this before but I never have and I don't think Nate has I've never tried it though so we're going to try out this UB cake U I think that's how you say it we'll see if it's tasty I'm not sure really what it is so I was trying to read the ingredients prepare for a sponge cake of some sort yeah all right I mean it smells sweet it's kind of purpley looking when I was looking for desserts I found that they had this like a cookie but then I found the sponge cake and I wanted to try that first I guess so we see I'm playing with my food I'm sorry I think we all do I mean it's it looks so unique oh yeah look at that it's all like purple look at that okay you want to try it first sure no problem good it's good it does it have flavor sweet it's got a sweet flavor it's it's got hints of Oak and Cherry I am connoisseur of the U cake I'd rate this one a 9.8 out of B all right here we go U cake oh yeah that's good it tastes like a SP like obviously sponge cake but it kind of reminds me of a strawberry shortcake but like not like it's like all combined into one cake yeah definitely tastes something fruity in there all right well it's time to set up bed it's uh it's currently 10:43 it's time for bed you guys tired it's been a long but good day got the Z degree sleeping bag this time mummy bag and an inflatable pillow all right it's uh it's time to hit the sack you guys it's currently well 1058 29 degre outside and 55 degrees inside which is -2 outside 13 Celsius on the inside man what a good day um I just love I love having days like today um the weather was just so sporadic and I think that just keeps things super interesting and uh entertaining for me at least so um I hope you guys enjoyed it I I sure did I love seeing the snowfall it is like that's where I want to be you know that's right where I want to be I love it I don't know if we're going to get any more snow tonight um guess we'll just have to wait and see well I'm going to hit the sack and I'll see all of you in the morning good [Music] what look at that omelette you guys that turned out great oh man I'm hungry uh I asked Nate if he wanted to half it with me he said he's not really hungry this morning he going to just have coffee let's see what it looks like on the inside oh yeah look at that you guys nice omelette good way to start the morning I've got my coffee here too makes for a good good wake up I didn't really sleep all that well last night I kind of I got a little cold I should have had uh I don't know what it is I just it's just been getting colder with this pad that I have and I know I could throw down like some other layers and stuff but trying to go a little light coming out here it's okay I survived the night it wasn't the best night sleep but the views and and just the experience out here makes it all worth it that's a tasty omelette Oh what a beautiful day I just love it out here it's so amazing you got the snow covered trees the sky we've got that like blue with clouds and we do have the sun it's it's going to be a remarkable day let's let's see how Nate's doing up there did you survive the night Nate that did you survive the night I survived all right man I like his tent too it's nice yeah that's a cool tent did it do uh do pretty good keeping you warm in there yeah I let the fire burn out but I mean overnight yeah but yeah not bad at all that's nice oh you do you got your fire going now or I do it's just burning really clean so there's no yeah I was going to say looks good yeah I'm going to let it burn out now but yeah works pretty good yeah I definitely like it nor tent nent I can't complain so how'd you sleep slept good yeah I just slept warm I I brought a little uh cot so I was up off the ground little oh you had a cot yeah therest man white C I'm messing out I'll have to figure what that is they're they're nice um there's a couple of them that I use that are pretty lightweight but they help getting you off the ground a little bit stays warmer and it's a little bit more comfortable on my back I'm old now so yeah no I hear you that's my uh that's story of my life right now my back is it don't like the ground so yeah I've got the thick like sleeping pad mhm but for some reason this one I don't know I just didn't keep me warm last night I think I need to add like one of those little foam pads like you were sitting on yeah add that to it maybe I don't know that would probably help but the C I'd like to see what that is eventually and yeah I put it away already I'd show you yeah just it's made by thermarest it's called what is it called the light CAU or something like that okay it's really lightweight it's only like two or three pounds ooo but yeah it works yeah I'll definitely check that out and it's got like a little insulation oh really yeah like a a reflective myar layer oh even better adds a little bit of heat retention man he was cozy last night that was warm he was nice and cozy that's good stuff right there that [Applause] ready ready all
