WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME IN EUROPE! - HUGGING THE COAST OF CROATIA
this was our little break stop we had some lunch right here and you can see our Park spot overlooking the Adriatic Sea right there a beautiful view and we had about an hour and a half hour and 45 minute drive to get here but we finally left that island of Kirk and I got to tell you if there's one thing that makes a stop special it's the people and Tam and our new friends really really really set a high bar for the world with their Hospitality their kindness and all their knowledge of the area and the region and just so much more I mean what a welcome to Croatia and Tim knows this whole entire area like the back of his hand and he has given us tips on what to do to avoid this cold and we had a major cold front and Windstorm come in and well there's more winter left so the best advice is is to head down the Croatian Coast we're running out of time on our shenen Visa our shenen time and so we worked on our plan and we've decided to head along this coast south there's a lot of stops along here that we'd love to make guys but to be honest with you with our timing and everything that's gone down we're going to have to drive past a lot of beautiful stuff but don't worry this coastline is full of stunning mountains rocks curves different subtle colors and then you have this beautiful Adriatic Sea with this hypnotic blue color and it is gorgeous and really even though the sun is not not shining today it's kind of a little bit overcast the lighting is really beautiful and we're just enjoying this drive but we do have a destination in mind but we wanted to make sure that we showed you this Coast as we drive down through here but we are going to someplace really [Applause] [Music] cool [Music] as we come down here by this beach you can see there's all sorts of little stalls here I'm sure they're little food stalls now one thing I'll tell you about Croatia or at least in the areas that we've been is these are summer Havens and so everybody comes down here to play on the beach to jump in the water and all up and down through these roads there's different houses apartments condos little Camp campsites of all different kinds and sizes and a lot of people even leave their home during the summer and rent them out but there are summertime rentals all up and down throughout here and a lot of people don't even live here so as we're driving up through here I mean there's hardly anyone out here and we see this frequently where like the Stalls or everything's closed but everyone says this is perfectly normal but in the summertime it's going to be shoulder toh shoulder with mostly people from all over Europe this is kind of Haven from them and I can understand why this water is just gorgeous now it's not a Sandy Beach it's like a ro Rocky pebbley Beach there are a lot of rocks everything is very very Rock and as a result they are stone masons here I mean the stone work here everywhere you look even if you look kind of behind the stairwell that I came down you can see all the brick walls all the when you're driving down the highway a lot of the bridge work just fences for wild or for livestock just every kind of stonework you can imagine through here and it's really simple and it's really kind of beautiful but anyway we're just going to take a little walk up here see what we see just a short little break before we get back on the road and show you some more of this beautiful dalmati Coastline all right we are back on the road and there is a new driver in the house and uh we've got a little ways further a couple more hours further south too on this little Croatian Coast through here and uh uh see what happens the sun's kind of moved over the other side of the sea so maybe we'll get some new [Music] colors there's a lot of colors I don't know where to go see a lot of colors only feeling [Music] blue there's a lot of colors lost within a hze don't rely on others to get you through them maze the dreams not the same for me standing by the shore why you no around the Open Sea cannot take things so let's take a minute and just talk about these mesmerizing Blue Waters we are driving by right now this is the Adriatic Sea and it's actually part of the Mediterranean Sea the very northeastern part of it now the Adriatic Sea separates the Italian Peninsula and the Balkan Peninsula which means it borders the east coast of Italy and Slovenia Croatia Bosnia heroina Montenegro and also Albania there are 1,246 islands just off the coast of Croatia now they're all different shapes and sizes some of them are even so small that they only emerge during low tide the AG adriatic's salinity level is actually lower than that of the Mediterranean and that's because of all the rivers that dump freshwater into the sea from these mountains that we're driving through right now this coastline is also called the dalmatian coast and that dates way back in history way before Croatia even existed the Adriatic Sea is noted for its stunning blue and green Hues as you can see I've been telling you this water is such an incredible shade of blue I can't even explain it but the waters are home to a diverse range of marine life including dolphins and sea turtles and all kinds of different fish since ancient times this sea has played an essential part in Croatian history acting as a crucial Transit and trading route and still today it is a vital source of wealth for the country this Coastal Highway is a true gym on our planet and we are lucky to be driving down it right now and we're happy to be taking you along with us the way the water's blue and those um those mountains are kind of gray back there it just really sort of gives the water Shimmer like gold it looks like gold look some kind of fish farms out there saw some earlier one of the fing all right we saw those Fish Farms off in a distance and then we get up closer it looks like they have in here at this little Marina or the port they have some pulled in there bunch of Hoops so that's what you go in there and remodel if you built there you'd have to remodel that probably can't tear it down we are now on the highway and the road is kind of veered away from the sea and we're down kind of around where zadar is and so the whole Croatia kind of pokes out in the sea right there well we stayed Inland on the Main Highway and I just looked up and I was like snow where' the mountains go they're gone just like that I can see them way over here they're off in the distance but we are going to get back to the Sea before night is over to our camp spot so fingers crossed yes so we'll be down here here on the right I anywhere in here really yeah probably turn left then your destination will be on the right in 300 ft make a U make a uturn then turn right what was open the little restaurant so it's parkings in here here yeah good morning everyone we have got a camp spot here on the Beach and that is not g yelling in the background but you can see G smelling on the things here but these black birds actually they're kind of gray birds with black wings they look like big crows but any event they found G money and they're yelling at him but we're right here on the Mediterranean Sea we had a great night's sleep last night a free Camp spot and it was quiet here we couldn't even hear the bird squat walking we're back over across the street up there in the trees and uh we're going to get started this morning we're going to continue to cruise this Croatian Coastline it has been stunning thus far so it looks to me like this is just a little beach party area outside of Sion and there's a nice stretch of almost Sandy Beach it's still pebbly this water is just absolutely crystal so clear and a stunning blue I know we've probably sound like a stuck record saying that but both snow and I have been amazed at how beautiful to see is not much for waves but all along this little beach line this short little piece back up in here are little bars and restaurants and coffee shops and all that type of stuff now all of them seem to be closed this morning but we did come in last night and a couple of the bars were open which is kind of unusual ual for this time of year and so again it we are in the heart of Winter and a lot of these little beach towns are cleared out but I want to come out here and show you one and we're going to see a few more later on today but even out there you can see I don't know if that's a like a watchtower or a pretty church or what that is but there's a lot to see along this Coast from the south of here I think we came through an area that wasn't largely populated I think all that's about to change guys so let's enjoy this Coast we are back on the road snows at the wheel and it is another beautiful day along this Croatian Coastline with the Sea and the birds and the rocks and the trees and it's getting greener down here I don't know what happened but yesterday's drive there was hardly any green anything it all look Barren and vast we like green and there's definitely pops of green coming up as we head some ah we've been excited to come through through the greenery and all of a sudden we're cruising along through here and we've come through an area where the forest has burned pretty badly it looks like maybe within the last year or so maybe not this year but the whole side of the Mountain really is burned and torched and scarred but looks like everything's going to recover okay welcome to tro gear a little Marina Waterfront town that we've had on our radar we wanted to show you guys around with our brand new scooters so we put in a parking place in the map and headed this way and we encountered construction and for the first time in Europe it was not a very organized detour at all what happened curve oh watch's this building oh boy here okay I think we're supposed to we're supposed to go right here we okay okay over here and now we go this way we go right and then left it's just to jog around these buildings oh Jesus okay the trug made it back here so that's a good sign all right so soon I I want to get by the next big road and then I'll be able to put it in the map we're going to go on right yeah we have to go right here and we'll take that left now up here we're going to go left follow that car so this is where they how they came through yeah I'm sorry I'm sorry sorry um see how we go go this left left left don't go there that's dead end all right stop sign will go [Music] right narrow more narrow oh [ __ ] Mir hit that before Oh we can't make this turn we can go up here and turn around and then we can we can go at a different angle so if we turn around here I think we can make the [Music] turn what do you think okay you me to get out and helpy turn around let me see what happens if yeah this is dead end up here so we can't go that way I can get out and help you U let me just try gu room here [Music] again again [Music] see hopefully this angle right well first of all we can't blame the Google this time but I will say that we found the best Road in creatia like we always find the narrowest windy roads at one point in time the right turn was so sharp and narrow no way we could make it we had to kind of go up and sh me our way and turn around but we were going up through the residential neighborhood literally a two-lane one lane road two-way on lane road and uh we made it through but I worked up a swag that was like did some amazing driving and I got to tell y'all we do a lot of editing when we go through scenes like that because normally we are uh screaming at each other hold on one minute because I can't see the gate I can't see the I can't see the okay so you want me to park over there closer to the Sea okay yeah that'll be rough parking closer to the Sea voila okay so we have to move a little bit here in our parking lot but thankfully we're not getting booted out guys uh we actually communicated quite well through that and the Google Maps was actually a huge help in finding the right turns and the right roads there are a lot of little deadend alleys here so that was a struggle Kurt did a phenomenal job it was a workout but we're in tro gear and we're going to pull out our scooters for our first time using them for an adventure and I think it's going to start with the market if we can get there before it closes if you've missed the past few videos then you miss the fact that we got cool new scooters now in South America we had bikes we had to get rid of them for space and then ingue this amazing company reached out to us to see if we wanted a try out some scooters and they fit perfect so this will be our first Adventure into a little town trying them out and seeing how they work but it took Kurt maybe 3 or 4 minutes to pull them out of the back I think these things are going to be amazing [Music] [Music] here [Music] so one thing about this town is it's definitely a marina town and when I was reading the reviews of this place in particular I think it is a place that a lot of the yachts and the the ships and stuff come to provision up when they come into the marina which we're going to show you soon and it is off seon and you can definitely tell that a lot of stuff is closed but there were some very nice looking stands through there yeah I saw a lot of cabbages on the way in oh look at that bacon that looks good hi peans what are those dates figs dried figs dried figs Mand dried figs zucchini they're dried figs potatoes [Music] onions honeys this is our first Croatian market right here I think those trees we were coming across in Italy were pomegranates might have olive oil hi yeah what are those dried thingy jiggers oh we've had those before yeah they're like a squash yeah but not with those pricklies on them yeah you just got to clean the prickly off bacon oh bacon and sausage Hi how are you fine how are you very good wow that smells good yeah thank you do you want maybe something maybe H is good or something sausages maybe cheeses cheeses you got good everything don't you yeah oh is this Lamb's cheese yes yes cheese yeah if you want May we'll come back we got to come back we're going to we're going to go oh what time do you close uh 3:00 3:00 okay all right thank you we want to try some of that cheese yeah yeah yeah yeah for sure thank you you as well [Music] he pretty cool huh yeah I me go through [Music] here [Music] than all right troger look at this little place guys this little wall City and there's all sorts of little hallways down here narrow roads Stone buildings castles it's so cool little big churches cool stonor lots of shopping and restaurants I think we find somewhere for a little light lunch maybe out on the water all right let's go look [Music] he [Music] and here you can see some preservation going on you see this this old what looks to be like defensive Fort and they've got some new soccer fields some sports Fields some basketball courts and some soccer fields and right in amongst this beautiful Marina with all these huge boats and I am telling you guys there are some rich and fancy yachts in this place and a lot of them there's also a bunch of big sailboats a really really beautiful Marina with all different Siz boats and with this little castle and this Old City out here on this island it is stunning and believe me there's lots of restaurants and shops throughout that whole little area but Croatia has definitely got it going on these are the coolest things ever aren't they fun what a cool little old town this turned out to be and a perfect place for for our first little outing on our new electric scooters Kurt's grabbing a selfie over there with the van in the background I think we're going to be able to explore a lot more little hidden towns like this one with these scooters guys but now I think before we head back to the van we're going to go see if we can't grab us a quick bite to eat look at these giant freaking yachts [Music] [Music] world heritage site my job was to order the drinks Kurt's job was apparently to order enough food to feed 27 people it's just a sandwich my a little kebab and hers is a little chicken with a little tomato lettuce and onion look how big this thing is they are giant sandwiches we're going to Feast right here water side old Cityside and enjoy the rest of our day all right first time packing them back up after a short little ride maybe six s minutes which isn't bad at all but I think as we do it a few more times it'll get down to 5 minutes which is awesome they're worth it aren't they ctie uh man it's just made for a sweet little stop snow is saying at lunch if we made a stop like this it take half a
