Hold on, hold on Shane We're going to go up to Mount Ainsley Right And then we'll go around parliamentary circle for a bit And then we'll go up onto red hill to get another perspective of Canberra Right And then up on to the last one Black Mountain Perfect So Shane, you're from Canberra? You lived here all your life? Or you're from somewhere else? I've been here last maybe five years Right We've got the ACT adventure riders here that we started a number of years ago And we've got about 800, 900 members of an ever-growing Adventure riding group here How many riders here in Canberra? Well, our group's got about 800 there's another group that's got similar numbers so We've got Brindabella just closed by and Tallaganda is another place that we go riding Right So it's actually quite a healthy adventure riding community here Yeah 900, it's a lot of riders So what, what bike you're on? My bike now is a R1200 GSA It's um It's too big for me and it's too heavy for me but I don't care I love it I love it - Yeah, that's it I've come off a Tenere 700 Right So I had a Tenere for a year or so there as well Cool But I dropped that way too many times Fair enough I'm still gonna continue that with the GSA Right All the flags of the commonwealth countries Right Represented Yes And on the left we've got Lake Burley Griffin And this is clearly Canberra's man designed, and And Man-made, the lake is man-made And if you look off to the left, you'll see The War Memorial The War oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah - The War Memorial in Anzac Avenue, right And then Up the top of that hill back  at the back is Mount Ainslie Right What we see on the right hand side is The high court of Australia Made famous by The movie: The Castle So where are we now? So The war memorial is in front of us at the base of Mount Ainslie Then we've got Canberra  Anzac avenue And Anzac avenue is where they have the Anzac parade every Anzac day So can we say that now we're going through the heart of town? Yes But there's a lot of That's where all the? Nightclub and shopping center trams - Oh there's even a tram Yeah, the tram that goes up the center Right And we're basically A little bit off from this major Pedestrian mall where all the nightclubs and shops and shopping centers are Young people hang out and So the Canberra does have a heart Is your hair ready? My hair? Hey, my hair is awesome Show me your bike So we are now catching up a little beer With local riders, which one is yours? Ooh, 800 That's 800 like Chillie and this is yours? It is, yeah Hold on, we'll show your bike Beauty Are you loving it? Are you the other tough rider? Yes I love your bike It's beautiful It's 2000, let me guess '13 '14 '14, all right it's a beautiful color I love that Best of them Nice to meet you Nice to meet you Love your helmet too we've got the same one Hey, I've got the same helmet and the same bike - Oh, yes And your nickname is Chilly Yes it is A little picture Hey It's not, everyone in? Who is missing? Oh Chilly is missing, okay You might need to come forward So Literally, I just posted something on Facebook Like who's in town? And all these guys just rocked up to have a beer So thank you very much guys It's so nice to meet you Thank you It's good to be back in Canberra In Canberra I didn't Where's your beer? Okay He's not prepared A little bit to the left I should take you are the photographer You're supposed to be in it I'm preparing them Little bit to the right Okay, okay, hold it, hold it So It's a much better weather today So I'm leaving Canberra now But before I do that I'm going to Meet the guys I met last night Most likely gonna join for a little ride But we're meeting at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy Because I want to find out A little bit more about it Looks like I'm the first one I'm a little bit early Hello Nice bikes Yeah, thank you Morning Morning So this is Damien Damien and I Met last night we had some beers together Yeah And Damien what is your what is your job tell me I'm gonna have to look a little introduction Okay, then [Yuin language] [Yuin language] [Yuin language] And I stand here so that is Good luck Hello In Yuin language I'm a My name is Damien I'm a Yuin Yorta Yorta and a Wemba Wemba man And I'm standing here on Ngunnawal land just outside The The Aboriginal Tent Embassy My job I wear many hats including this one I'm the founder and owner of Motorcycle company called or a must-go tour company called Ridelines Adventures we do tours right across Australia Taking people to Aboriginal communities to  learn about that land and that culture The idea is to learn about the land that you ride on And understand the culture of the people who live there Oh wow, so, your tourists when you're going to the outback How long normally they take? So I do short tours I do three and four day tours around Sydney and Melbourne But I do tours that are three weeks long I do, I took two weeks from Brisbane to Phillip island I do a seven week tour from Melbourne to the Grama festival in the Arnhem Land Straight up Arnhem Land Straight up through The center of Australia Oh wow, where is it when is your next tour? Oh well the tours are closed at the moment because Traditionally, aboriginal people quite rightly have Inherent distrust of the of the western health system so Vaccination rates are quite low in aboriginal communities still They're getting up and that's great but I'm not prepared to take Customers to traditional or remote communities until it's a lot safer to do so Yeah for sure, for sure well I didn't realise thanks for that I'm also I also work for a group called Reconciliation Australia Where I just help out around the office a bit Trying to Change people's minds make systemic change About the way people interact with Aboriginal and Torres Trait Islander communities Brilliant Thank you so much So now we're gonna try to get in, right? Because normally you're not allowed Just to walk into there No, normally you can But at the moment the camp is closed so the embassy is closed Because The embassy quite rightly is not involved in any way  with the sovereign citizen movement or with The anti-vaccination movement And that movement tried to incorporate them back in January So the embassies distanced themselves That movement is back into Canberra this week So they've closed the camp to keep those people out but And I won't, I do not propose to speak for the embassy All I can tell you is that the main aim of the embassy Is Aboriginal and Torres Trait Islander sovereignty And land rights and land back So I don't propose to speak for them But that's kind of how it is Right, okay, thank you So the other piece the other thing I would say as I As I mentioned we're all we're here today on Ngunnawal land Behind us is the is the old parliament house And we're here just down there you can see Through, through the tent embassy you can see The war memorial and in between here and there is reconciliation place Which is designed to Highlight the need for reconciliation in this country the ongoing need But what I wanted to do first is recognize The traditional custodians of the living custodians of this land Ngunnawal land, Ngambri land Including people like uncle Richie Allan uncle Warren, uncle, aunty Violet Sheridan And aunty Matilda House of course So, yeah Thank you So it doesn't look like we will be able to get in because we can't find the people that you know right you can't just enter? That's right, yeah so there's a lady called auntie Gwenda Who is kind of kind of runs the embassy at the moment And it's over its 50-year history The embassy Has had many different people come in and out and Hold residency including me in my Uni days I was here for a while And what was your job when you were here like so that was a volunteering job right? It's really just an occupation So it's, it's there's not a job as such Everyone kind of comes here for a cause and they volunteer to be here And you, you basically - Just stay here Yeah, you just stay here and you explain to anyone who wants to Who comes who ask questions Your perspective your personal perspective So for example when you, when you were a resident here How many days you were staying at the time? Oh, I would come on and off for a few weeks at a time Throughout my unit by four years of university Of course, there's always There's always Not always There's back in those days There was a lot more protest And it was always peaceful protests not like what's happened recently With the sovereign citizens but Peaceful protest we would march up to parliament house and explain our Our cause and our reasons for being there And that was kind of the main purpose at that point And, and of course to be here This has been here 50 years it is a centerpiece of aboriginal Resistance in Australia Well thank you so much for this all this information you know like You're sort of like going past but Yeah, it's nice to to have the insight of it what's  going on and yeah thank you that was very valuable Thank you so much No worries Kinga So should we go for right now? Let's go for a ride Time for a ride Ready? Let's go Ta-da! Hello [Music] Hello, oh that's nice you're on Tiger Yeah Nice Wait, I didn't know that come with a white Hey With white frame Yeah, yeah Which chair is this? 2020 Very nice Hey, that's yours? That's the little toy Very nice Are we all ready? We are yeah, yeah Hello, Kinga Hi, I'm Lucky Nice to meet you - Nice to meet you Time to socialise a little bit more So these guys will be joining me For a ride to Tumut And I'll stay in Tumut overnight and they're probably going to come back So This is going to be a fun Sunday I think we have all the brands here We've got BMW We've got Husky We've got KTM Triumph Suzuki We're missing Yamaha and Honda We don't miss them Their loss [Inaudible] [Music] [Music] Are my fog lights on? No? On? Off Off Off On Okay Paul, thank you If you want to do any photography Yes, let's do it All right, so where are we now? We're just coming up to the border of ACT Australian capital territory in New South Wales So from here it goes down Downhill Down to The river It's downhill to New South Wales that's fair enough So what's downhill to New South Wales But we're about 760 meters something like that I think Yeah, it's not that high It's not that high it's just really misty at the moment The conditions have become a little bit misty So we are now Traveling through this gravel road And this is the start of New south wales From this way And from this way Australian capital territory There you go we're right on the border [Music] Hello Hey [Music] Hello, camera That the thumbnail? Kinga the ballerina [Music] Another stop What's the name of the river? Goodradigbee Goodradigbee River What is it? Goodradigbee Seriously? Yeah That one How's the scenery? So cool So in this river We have trouts We have salmon Oh hey, hey, hey [Music] How's my hair? Group picture, lineup Group picture, lineup Everyone in How I'm gonna set it up? We'll do like that Okay Right, okay So That can work No [Music] [Music] [Music] Woah So cold [Music] That's a good thing at the top Yeah it's a camera, it's on Hello, nice to meet you You look good Thank you - I could see myself in there Thank you, thank you So you guys practicing against the war, yeah? Yeah, yeah How many days? Is it just today or? Well it's going every Saturday Every Saturday Every Saturday and sometimes There is someone here every day sort of thing Right and is this the - I like your outfit Thank you so much Is this the embassy, Russian embassy? Yeah, yeah [Unintelligible] And how many years you live in Australia? Oh Many? Many, many years from 1950 Oh wow, long time Yeah, I came I came out with my parents when I was 10 Right Yeah You were a glitter - I'm Polish I'm actually Polish yeah, but You were only a glitter in your father's eye That's it [Music]
