Trip to Korea's Most traditional Hanok Village, #Jeonju | 2 day itinerary | Korea VLOG
Hi everyone we’re taking a little trip from Seoul today we’re visiting a city called Jeonju which is about 1.5 hours from Seoul the city is well know if it’s traditional hanok houses and good food time for some breakfast it’s my my first time visiting Jeonju but I’ve heard such great things about the city I feel like smaller cities in Korea aren’t that well known yet so I’m looking forward to checking them out we’ll be staying in the Hanok village area even the station is Hanok style the village is about 40 mins by bus but it’s only 15 mins by taxi looks like the weather will be clear for the trip and we’re here! we’ll be doing a hanok stay in one of these houses check in isn’t until 3 so we’re just dropping off our bags even has a little garden all the streets are lined with these hanok houses how beautiful are they? time for some lunch when in Jeonju you got to try their famous Bibimbap is that it comes with Korean beef tartar but you can get a normal one with cooked beef as well all of the flavours come together so well I can see why Jeonju is so famous for this dish time to head to our first location I think Jeonju is a great place to enjoy both nature and traditional Korea everything is so picturesque the place we’re going to is only about a 20 min walk from the main area needed a second coffee and up the stairs we go the view from here is already looking nice after being closed for 3 years during covid, the park finally reopened the park is famous for spring flowers, cherry blossoms with royal azaleas these flowers can be enjoyed form mid to late April I personally went on April 16th the amazing story is that the garden was created by one person over the course of four decades! the owner donated the garden to the City of Jeonju and now it can be enjoyed by locals and tourists. perfect day to take your dogs out too and this is the view from top of the hill this has got to be one of the most dreamy places I’ve visited i didn’t know azalea’s grew this tall a man doing yoga here with his dog you can also see the lovely view of the village from here next we’re headed to a cafe the cafe is kind of in the middle of nowhere the cafe is definitely giving some Ghibli vibes kind of reminds me of Howl’s Moving Castle you can go up to the second floor and take photos too even the design inside is so unique they had some coffee, tea and snack options we went with ssanghwatang and fried rice cake ssanghwa-cha is a traditional tea made with medical herbs the tea itself is quite bitter but is meant to help boost your immunity and improve blood circulation the sweet rice cake balances it out the cafe is a little out of the way but worth a visit time to check in looks so cozy with the lights on the room isn’t too big but just enough to spend a night and it had pretty much everything you need let’s go get some dinner Jeonju at night is a totally different atmosphere found this hanok style convenience store looking to see if there’s any local snack sometimes the convenience store has the best souvenirs we were craving some kimchi jjigae the owner was so nice and made us some egg rolls nothing beats a good bowl of kimchi jjigae she also gave us some fried prawns as service we were about to head back but came across this cute bar/ cafe and we couldn’t just pass by the cafe had a game arcade as well the shop sold both alcohol and coffee I got a gin tonic and my friend got a tea a perfect place to end the evening the owner gave us free mangos too Jeonju has been so generous Good morning from Jeonju the hanok stay came with breakfast which included toast with jam, apple slices and black sesame porridge this black sesame porridge was the best now time to get some coffee the cafe is in this traditional house it also had this amazing garden the weather was perfect so we decided to sit outside loving this early spring weather I heard Jeonju is often used as a shooting location for kdramas the next location is up this hill...
but you can walk around this mural village is only a short walk from the main hanok area and is filled with colourful murals of old comics and anime it’s also the resting place for all the cats do you recognise some of these? each street is so colourful and filled with unique designs headed to get some lunch had to have one more bowl of bibimbap this one came with a marinated fish nothing can convey how big the servings are here now let’s have a stroll around the hanok village itself one thing I really liked about Jeonju was that it wasn’t crowded at all so you can really enjoy the calm atmosphere we’re headed up to the view point at the top it is quite a climb but there is this nice pavilion once you reach the top but the view from the pavilion isn’t the best you need to head a bit down for this view you’ll have the best view over all the hanoks now let’s go do some souvenir shopping there are so many little boutique shops here these porcelain dolls were so cute found this little flea market filled with so many gems this is a candle holder Jeonju also seems to be famous for ceramics these are coming home with me next we’re checking out this retro museum this museum is like stepping back in time and seeing what everyday life was like in olden day Korea I honestly wasn’t expecting much but the museum took 25 years for gathering materials and 3.5 years for construction to make and it’s actually huge I think we ended up staying about an hour here Nanjang consists of 70 theme zones and is a bit of a labyrinthine I as impressed at how realistic some of the areas were this kind of freaked me out... my favourite part was the arcade I used to love this as a kid of course we had to play a game of street fighter the museum just kept going this is how big the whole place is finally made it to the end the museum was intense but fun experience time to relax a little with some tea once you go in they give you a whole room to yourself and open up all the doors so you can enjoy the garden they have a english menu describing all the teas it was so nice with the breeze coming through highly recommend the roasted grain tea got to see somewhat of a sunset another popular dish here are these Tteokgalbi which are these short-rib patties this was so savoury and sweet at the same time I would have to say Jeonju has been one of my favourite cities I’ve visted in Korea I hope you guys also enjoyed :)
