Traveling Thailand: 5 Days in Samui
After a week-long research, we decided to go to Samui Thailand. Join us for the 5-day trip during which we'll explore the best beaches, try some exotic foods, see elephants in the sanctuary, and have more surprising discoveries. So let's go So we came to Kimpton and we're excited to check our lovely room. Choosing a hotel is always a big one for me. And we were so happy when we found Kimpton that
we actually decided to stay in three different rooms here. Starting with Essential Resort Room starting with a shower you actually have a bathtub and a shower. Then you have the room with two beds We have a bar area, and they even gave us this amazing sweet treat when we checked in And then the best part is a balcony which is about the size of the room, which is very impressive. And you've got two seating areas and an amazing view
And this amazing view continues to the second room where we stayed next. It's 100 extra but it's way bigger so let me give you a full tour. This is about the size of the room we had before. We've got a big couch
nice little painting that I'm color coordinate with the table here, and the entrance to the bedroom area with a huge bed, TV number one (TV number two was there) the chair and the bathroom. it's the same that we had as well in the other room. and the shower is here and they have this nice little details the box for the TV remote then book Welcome to Beachfront Villa. We're now at the bedroom part. we have this huge bed over here, the sofa the bar station on my right, and then on my left you have this amazing view with direct access to the ocean Welcome to the terrace, with an amazing private pool, with a direct access to the beach Now this whole part is the second part of the villa and it's all bathroom. So you've got this huge room you've got this bathtub which can fit I think 5 people Then you have a double shower. So this shower it starts with an indoor shower, then you go through and you've got the outdoor shower we also have a double vanity so you're not fighting over the sink and the last but not least is this huge walking closet. it's literally another room. You have a table if you want to put your makeup. And the things I like they put a lot of attention to all of the details
so you always have a yoga mat in the room, then you have slippers, sandals this is a beach bag which is very big and this is a beach mattress I guess and of course bath robes so all you need so this was the Villa it's the best you get and I think it's really amazing. it's private, you have your own pool, you have your own sitting area just to gaze the view so we are getting ready to go explore the other part of the island and in in the meantime I'm just going to finally actually try this bad because I haven't yet we're about to grab scooters and go explore the famous Chaweng Beach. it's one of the oldest tourist location so it's supposed to be very busy but it also has a lot of shopping and quite a few restaurants so we'll go find some nice place to eat. And then to have a feel for a beach and see if we want to stay there for a couple of nights. In addition to Chaweng we mapped out a few other beaches.
So these are the few we wanted to check out today and the in the upcoming days. So let's go. So Chen get some food maybe do some shopping and then drive back 15 minutes later we've got to the Sentara Hotel. Going to check it out and then go to the beach to see if you like it here
It's definitely a party beach. And you can see there are some of the locations here that a little dated. so we just going to continue walking and explore but not going to stay here We just came to this Salt Society restaurant. I think it's a one that belongs to Centara hotel that we just checked out. And it's very windy as you can see and wavy and I don't think anybody can swim actually
So our beach is much better in this sense. Even though we had some weights we can actually still swim turns out there is no Thai food in this restaurant so we're just going to grab salad and then we're going to go try find some Thai food because this is the whole reason we came to Chaweng is to see some of the local restaurants and this is like a Beach Club from the hotel so it's mostly International Food We came from the beach to this shopping street. I don't really like it here it's it's not Thailandish at all it's like a developed shopping mall kind of street so it's not not necessarily our scene so we're going to go back to our hotel We going to order some dinner in room service and finally enjoy our balcony The breakfast is the thing here: it's enormous. The amount of choices you have is just overwhelming Starting with variety of salty options like rice, dumplings, veggies, sautes, more veggies and yeah just a lot of options. Then you have the full salad station, the egg station, the sweet station and then the selection of fruits. so we've got to the breakfast. We ordered first from the menu: I got myself the yogurt , the coffee that is almost over
and then a big fruit platter. The good surprise was coffee they have a specialty Thai roast: signature blend of saffran and sustainable shade grown dark roast coffee from northern Thailand. Usually in Asian breakfast the to-go choice is filter but this one was a good surprise We finished our breakfast, and currently at the beach, it's quite windy it's uh not cold though, so it's very pleasant weather. And one good thing about this hotel is that they're
really good at cleaning the beach. We walked yesterday a little bit further out and there was much more plastic waste but our part of the beach is very clean kind of a rare thing here so I think they're doing a good job. definitely come here if you're in this area So the beach overall is quite small it's about 1 km long and Kimpton is at the end of it and this is the middle part so you have some sort of beach club which are not super high end but they're really nice. it's quite a cool spot I think if you just wanted to have a walk on the beach a little further away from the hustle of bustle of Chaweng that we saw yesterday this is a place to come we rented a car behind me. The guy was actually very cool he gave us plenty of tips about where not to drive or it's dangerous and like... I think it's the most precautious car rental so far he showed us the map and he said don't drive here because it's a dangerous road it's very thorough we're equipped and the rain is finally gone so the Viewpoint and then we'll see weather got us inside. So we just ordered coffee and some food
and this a really nice place called Bloming Gallery and it has a lot of flowers and it's very nice view So we came to the Silver Beach. The sun just came out but it was raining before so I don't think it's looks as beautiful as it usually does but it's pretty it's not too big the sand is really white behind me, there is a preparation for Sunday Brunch. apparently, it's the first time they do it. This is probably the most food I've seen in any brunch anywhere. They even had this ice sculptures which is the next level if you ask me. So if you're in the area on a Sunday I definitely recommend trying this [Music] brunch and we are moving to fish Village Checked in to the Holiday Inn. Room is actually quite nice. We chose it because it was brand new and it seemed to have direct access to the beach which is not the case.
You have pool area but then a small road which also generates some noise like when scooters go two hotels after Holiday Inn the road stops and then we just have like a hotel and direct Beach area So if you're coming to Bophut (I think is how you pronounce it) any hotel after an Anantara would be a better option than this one. And for today day we're just going to the Elephant Sanctuary it's about 10 minute drive. Hopefully they do not require the prior reservation and we be able to see some elephants so we came to the elephant sanctuary and we're on the parking lot but I already saw the elephant over there. Hi, we wanted to go just for an hour do you have something short like this? because we don't have too much time.
Ah actually we have Feed the Elephant. Perfect can we do this? Two people yeah. I think this kind of tourist activity should be an inspiration for tourist activities anywhere this is actually the place where they create very welcoming conditions for the animals those are the rescued animals that are previously being used in the tourist industry and most of them were abused. And here in a sanctuary they create new home for them. They take care of the animals and any tourist who comes here can take part of taking care of the animals. you can observe them, feed them, wash them and this is all the different experiences you can choose.
So we chose the shorter version where you can just feed the elephants. honestly the amount of joy you get out of this experience is just overwhelming. after the feeding session we got the full tour of the rest of the sanctuary and met other elephants. This one and particular was the female carrying the baby and it was such a unique thing to observe.
So yeah I cannot recommend it enough. The time passed by too fast and to have them stay with us for longer we've got some memorable shots before leaving. We came to this Jungle Club restaurant. Supposedly a really nice Sunset of view. But the way here is really like steep. I don't know how people come here with bikes even with car it's kind of challenging do you have a place for today for two people? We fully booked today. oh okay Wiating is about 1 hour and 1 hour more. 1 hour wait? Yes hm so they're fully booked don't repeat our mistakes if you want to get here. and we're going to go find a different place for the sunset
We didn't find spot in this Jungle Club so we just drove and then I spotted this beach on the Google Maps. Actually I spotted this place behind me where we're just eating now. I don't even know the name I didn't see in any of the recommendations to be honest maybe this is why it's so empty and so peaceful and honestly it's just amazing so we're going to get some drinks and some food here and then tryi to find the night market buy some souvenirs but yeah this is an amazing place so definitely come here if you want some peaceful beautiful sea not not only we have this amazingly quiet beach but we just discovered that they have a fire show. Getting ready over there. and it's literally like I don't know 20 people so it's like almost a private show and it's so serene and so nice so I think it's actually for the best we didn't get to this Jungle Club We got to the night market okay oh so this is this is the damage Ok, we are going to try this they have a lot of spice. It's kind of earthy taste but I think they put a spice that tastes like mushroom so it's fine. I mean it's not my favorite thing but it's not as bad as I thought 5 left. This a little better
yeah but I think it's my last one it's not that tastiest thing I mean it's not horrible but it's definitely not my type of food so we're going to donate this one to somebody so after crickets I need to something to drink this was our favorite coffee on the island. the space is amazing it's huge they actually roast their own coffee. and the coolest part you can select the beans that go in your drink so I chose this too I'm going to get sweet Amber in my flat white and this I'm going to buy as a present to drink at home we came to the beach it's just next street from the market and the sunet is really nice. we're going to go all the way there we're ending the evening in one of the bars it's in the Fisherman's Village Beach and they have this cool music and a happy hour for the drinks I've got a glass of wine and we have this amazing view. snd the Sun is already down and it's a perfect end of the evening
after 5 days on this island I can say that it's definitely a place I would like to come back to and if you're traveling to Thailand for the first time I cannot recommend it enough and in the next episode we'll explore another Island that is called Koh Phangan. And we've heard amazing things about it so let's explore it together
