welcome back to my channel so today i am  in a town called Zlin in Czech Republic   where a entrepreneur during the Czechoslovakian  times had a vision to create a shoe business here   and little did he know that his business would  expand in 20 countries across the world today   I've decided to come here and show you around this  town which has history built around Tomas Bata   so here is one of his stores here called Bata  which they specialize in shoes  it's really interesting this town   I've got some more things I'd  like to show you as well let's go what you can see behind me is a hill Tomas Bata had a vision that he would create   a transportation for trains from setting to Zlin  so this here was once flat they started building   the hill and working on it to make sure that  there was transportation from Vsetin to Zlin but   unfortunately he passed away he died so  there's no trains and he left the remains of   the hill that would have been a railway going  into Zlin so let's go have a look up and let's   see the remains of the railway let's see how it  looks at the top it's a very steep hill so here   is the the hill which leads up to the railway  which would have been a railway have a look and this is just generally my surroundings I'm going to the top to have a look  to see if there's any railway tracks   is left behind from this project this uncompleted  project let's have a look it's very steep it's a very steep hill making my way up now this is a very steep hill you lot let's keep going right we're nearly at the top oh right okay and as you can see it  has not been completed because   this is the hill that the railway would have  been transported to setting to saline but as   I said Tomas Bata  he had a vision that he would  create the transportation when he was alive but   he did not fulfil his vision  because sadly he passed away have a look there's not even tracks here no railway tracks so for my investigation  and for my research it's good to know that   at the top there's nothing here  it's just a very steep hill right   this is how it looks from my surroundings you can  see the the countryside the Wallachian hills this   is what would have been a railway now as you can  see seems like it's just for horses and not trains have a look good day right time to make my way down this  bloody hill this is where we are now okay let's have a look closer what we've got  here on the other side at the top of this bridge   here it says 1935. see if  you can get a closer look let's make our way through this tunnel which would have been an overhead  railway path let's make our way through which now is just a really steep hill right so we are now at the  other side of the the bridge and you can see on the other  side are just houses a few houses let's make our way back through this town grew rapidly after Tomas Bata  founded a shoe factory company in 1894.  what they have inside is like shoes bags and here we are in Zlin and look  also looks like a soviet mosaic before Bata's vision this town used to be  not so populated due to the lack of jobs here   and the lack of houses and when Bata  created his vision he created houses for   his employers that worked in the shoe factory and  that brought more more business here in this town   straight ahead in that direction  stands a church here stands behind me   is Zlin theatre and the name of the  theatre is called town theatre Zlin wow what do we have here looks like a mosaic bold and bankrupt come and  check out these soviet mosaics here in Zlin right now I am in the square here   in Zlin I'd like to show you it looks  like they're setting up for the market do you speak english yeah speak english  don't speak czech uh small do you have   the cheese the stringy cheese cheese yeah it's  korbacik cheese I don't know the products you don't  know okay the cheese is not my speciality   okay we have the fish the wine the wine  I know and you have sausages as well you have the oil the Sicilian oil of olive  extra virgin yeah they are the suino uh-huh   and where are you from Albania and these  products here are from Albania? Sicily.

interesting yeah maybe I will come back  after my video to try some of the stuff yeah   all right though ciao here we have like a small  market where they have clothes as you can see the square here in Zlin I can smell the wine in the air  smells nice I can smell bread cheese wow look at the big bread  gotta have a look at the bread wow never seen bread this big  before wow have a look at that very big that's like the biggest  bread I've ever came across hello you speak English I'm just blessed all  my friends I'm just the bookish on the table that is like the biggest spread I've ever seen tomato and what do you have  olive tomato and olives okay I will make my video and come  back when my hands are less busy   ciao and here is the council for Zlin I'll come back for the hens check this out look   book box instead of a phone  box they have books inside this city is home to Tomas Bata's  university which opened in 2001   here we are now I am now approaching  Tomas Bata's university here in Zlin and here behind me stands a  monument of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk aha I gotta get some ... while I'm  here let's do this hello great man great nice   to see you I'm just buying some ...  can we take a photo with you yes you can   absolutely nice for your shopping  centre there's a pub called Budvarka   and they are studying which is made uh  it is called Navratilova okay and it is   it's like one of the best no it's us in  horchata republic it's like multiple times okay back on the journey look at my surroundings right here we are at this bistro yes so I'm gonna get my food here it smells really nice as I was passing look at this have a look what I got let's dig in yum yum wow delicious um what are your thoughts of  the food nice nice food yeah you speak good english as well four years in US that's the shop so if you're ever  hearings lean you've got to check it out   isn't that right boys check  the food out there it's awesome Andre traveler all of these buildings  here that are surrounding me were built by Bata during his times have a look there's one of his  buildings there in the distance I'll show you   a closer look and as you can see there are  more buildings here in the surrounding area behind me Bata became the leading manufacturer and marketer of  footwear in Czechoslovakia in 1922.

and all of these buildings here still that are surrounding  me were the manufacturers for the Bata as you can see they still have the numbers  on the top like that one says number 14.   and there's more going along down this  road behind me stands the Bata museum Bata institute gallery museum and here is the  tourist information centre and I can just see like   all of the old buildings that were built  up during the Czechoslovakian times   and they hadn't been knocked down they've been  used for another purpose but during the days   when Tomas Bata was around  these were manufacturers straight ahead I can see a really old   manufacturing building it's very interesting  this town especially if you know the history   Tomas Bata was inspired by another  entrepreneur goes by the name of Henry Ford that's where he gained his inspiration from   and he was able to come up with his  business ideas yes he actually went   to America to visit henry ford to work in his  factory so he learnt his skills from henry ford hey how are you okay Where are you from this area? No  no from Ghana. From Ghana? yeah   all right you speak Czech?  no but you also speak Czech yeah you both doing phd awesome I'm just  doing document for my YouTube channel   about Tomas Bata the um  manufacturer of the shoe company   showing the history check out my channel  if you want to yeah Andre traveler that's you yeah yeah okay I'll subscribe to  you all right subscribe man yeah cheers take   no Español you speaking Español  uh see see all right man have a great day man here is the Tomas Bata  memorial building have a look this is a building of his memorial actually it  says it on the side let's have a closer look   here stands Tomas Bata  memorial here in Zlin he was tragically killed in an aircraft in 1932.   it would be really interesting to  see if it was open let's have a look closed Bata memorial the memorial is an open on monday  so unable to show you so until next time ciao
