Hey, that's a police car in front of me It's also.. ..Navigating all these ruts.. definitely easier on a bike I would say Definitely faster That's for sure Good morning Internet, it 7:30 in the morning and welcome back to the channel Welcome here in Panama The view I have is absolutely amazing I have just been served a typical Panamanian breakfast Which is some meat, egg and this is a fried tortilla, I think Some fruit and a coffee. So I'm going to enjoy that and then I'll show you on the map what the plan is for today Okay, so the plan for today. I am now over here Pretty much in the middle of Panama And today, I'm going to ride to a place called Boquete Which is right next to Volcan Barú A very high volcano So I'm going to ride back to the Panamericana. I don't really have another choice, I think Um.. then kind of just follow this road and then up here to Boquete

Where am I going today? Boquete 287 kilometers for today And Boquete is quite a popular destination in Panama Apparently a lot of Americans actually go there and retire It's a very popular place for that. I know in Spain, there are several towns which are very popular with Dutch people retiring And well.. Boquete is one for Americans And even though I'm not American, I better check out this place Because maybe I want to retire there some day.. who knows It's incredibly charming place this Santa Fe It's all like these narrow roads and super green everywhere Think this would also be a great place to retire Why am I.. why am I thinking about retirement?! Way too young for that Adventure is first on the list Well, adventure is never really far away in Panama So it seems Oh, watch out little doggie Wow, look at that That's crazy! That's so tall Wow, look at that Check out those boulders there Amazing Boquete! I'm here Alright, I have dropped of my things in a hotel Where I'm going to spend the night And it is now time.. to try and get up the volcano

Which is right over there It's hiding a little bit in the clouds And this volcano.. if you climb to the top all the way. That's the highest point in Panama So.. it's kind of a landmark, I would say So there is a small little road going all the way up to the top of the volcano Because on the top there are several telecommunication things So this road was actually built for that and for maintaining those And I'm getting kind of conflicting information whether or not I can ride that road And the condition.. of the road And how hard or easy it is I think it's not easy But uh.. there is only one way to find out and that is attempting it Um..

I'll be passing a ranger station And well.. they will probably tell me if I can up or not Oeh, it's windy We'll see Okay, this is where the.. unpaved starts already Okay.. yeah, I can see.. this is a little rough But.. at least now I don't have luggage with me Makes it definitely easier Ah, I think this already where that park ranger is Hello! Morning! - Hello Tell me - I would like to go to the volcano. Up Right now, it's not open. This is the time schedule

In the morning.. From 4:30.. it says 5:00 but it's 4:30 - Oh no! Until 13:00, to enter but you have to write to this email address In advance.. write an email. And tell the date you are going to enter But.. you can't go with a motorcycle? - Not with a motorcycle? Why not? Well, it's in the rules. The last instructions say this. Walking or with those cars that go up for tourists They are going up But not with a motorcycle? - Not with a motorcycle Not with a motorcycle, not with a private car either Yeah, I want to.. - We turn around

Okay Bye! Thank you Okay. Well.. that didn't work out I can't go up the volcano There were actually 3 reasons why not. Firstly, he says um.. .. You're only allowed to get up between 5 in the morning at 1 pm And secondly, you first need to ask for an approval From the government So you have to email them and third reason Is that motorcycles are not allowed Up there So.. yeah, that's not going to work out That's a real shame That would have been.. a proper ride. I think Sani Pass would be nothing compared to this bad boy But yeah, it's not going to happen So um.. I think, I'm just going to look for some other local ride I can do around here It's a really beautiful area But unfortunately Volcano Barú on a motorcycle is not going to happen I asked several people.. locals like can you go up with a motorcycle? Because I already

had a feeling that they would only let like tour operators With 4x4s up there Everybody told me.. no, no you can go But no, it doesn't really surprise me because if it's a really tricky, dangerous road then I can understand that they don't want people just to go up there on their own But anyway. Still a shame. Was really looking forward to some nice riding Because the rest of the day, it was actually really boring I had to follow the Panamericana highway Which is extremely boring There's just tar, there's nothing really to see So I was looking forward to getting up the mountain But anyway. Time for Plan B I am now exiting Boquete from the other side Of town Wow, it's very cute See if there are some adventures to be found on this side Wow, suddenly you are at almost 1200 meters That was a.. quite a quick climb over there Well, the road has turned unpaved So that's good. I am allowed to ride here Also good! Oops, that was my.. luckily a good bash plate

So I'm just going to follow this road and then see where we end up Wow, the views are absolutely amazing Look at that Some more little hill climbs It's definitely not as bad as in the last video Oh, this is so much nicer to ride this without luggage Oh, the difference is just so big Hey, that's a police car in front of me It's also.. .. Navigating all these ruts.. definitely easier on a bike, I would say Definitely faster that's for sure See if he'll let me pass. I don't know if he's seen Not actually sure where this road leads to... I am kind of freestyling now Well, I'm always freestyling but normally.. obviously I kind of have a route planned or An idea of what I want to ride in a day But now.. I have absolutely no idea where I'm going

Where I am going to end up I just want to do a little bit of.. riding A little bit of adventuring And well, I think.. this road will definitely give me all of that Wow, look at those views hey? Isn't that amazing Incredible I just somehow kind of forgot how mountainous Panama is And I don't know how they did it but the Pan Americana kind of runs, I think through the absolute flattest part of the country So if you ride through Panama only following that highway Your experience is going to be so different and it's going to be so much.. yeah so boring.. really

Whereas Panama has a lot more to offer but yeah.. you kind of have to Get off the highway! To find it Wow, look at this view Amazing It's also really quite hot at the moment The wind is kind of gone Kind of like downhill mountain.. mountain biking almost I don't have to do anything, just let Alaska roll down It's an old bridge I am now crossing The Rio Caldera. This is the Rio Caldera And well, that name is not surprising Given that we are so close to the volcano That this one is called Rio Caldera If you've seen any of my other videos where I encounter volcanos I'm always talking about the caldera! Anyway, here you have the river called Caldera Quite cool See there we have Volcano Barú again with the top just in the clouds over there Kind of towering over the town of Boquete on this side And on the other side of the volcano there is another town called Volcán Which is quite appropriate but if I want to reach that town I have to ride all the way around the volcano And it's about a 70 kilometer trip One way so that's quite far To reach and I think, Boquete is a nicer town anyway But so that means that I am now.. I should be on my way back to Boquete now Yeah It's just down that way and then that side So at least I know where I am So that means that I'm going to end this video now The day did not turn out the way that I was hoping for. Even though

It was a long day, I spent the whole day riding. It's now 4 o'clock And uh.. yeah, I'm just disappointed that I can't go up the volcano Or at least not on the motorcycle I can walk but it's a 6 hour walk Which I'm not going to do Or you have to take a tour and go in a 4x4 but What's the fun in that But anyway If there is one life skill that is good to have Then it's dealing with disappointment Because well.. you get some disappointments thrown your way, hey? It was still quite nice to do this little ride around the area Um so.. that was it for today I really hope you liked this video If you did, please give me a big thumbs up And subscribe down below and then I'll see you in the next video
