Texas: DUO WINTER CAMPING - Day 2 of 2 - Part 1
got the fire started hey look at that leg um slept pretty comfortably last night very comfortable very comfortably here you want to talk about your sleeping experience oh okay just kidding i still have great i got into my flannel sleeping bag plain old sleeping bag with my blanket under it best sleeping experience ever amen amen i would recommend it look this thing is paper thin and it kept me warm so you don't need an all-weather hammock pick the fire up you can feel the cold air going through the back of the of the sleeping bag on your back you can feel the cold air but that's it hey this fire is kind of warm now i gotta sweep out my tent bad i slept in my flannel sleeping bag hey what is your sleeping bag rated too 40. mine's comfortable in 50 but it goes all the way down to 32. i slept in that um big fluffy socks dude cody they have animals next door they have animals next door it looks like a horse it's a cow maybe no it's not a white cow it looks like a white horse dude that is a bull that that's a bull a white bull for real i can see it i i or an ox i mean glad to go look at it there's about a wire fence oh wow all the cows are back there today it's right on the other side of the fence yeah anyways sleeping bag put my clothes in my uh pants for a pillow because i didn't bring my pillow this time all i had was shirt and underwear and i felt pretty comfortable my head wasn't sticking out of the sleeping bag i stayed in it entirely and i could still breathe fine so and i had no heater in there if i had a heater in there it would be significantly better but i my mom kind of talked me into trying it without a heater so i told you it was a big old cow branded and numbered i got some calves out here too they have so many bulls that are just watching me but we got fences and trees and all that all i gotta do is go through the trench and get on the other side of the log something i don't know we had a toilet out here and i'm going to try to find it i think it's right over there um only two of us used it because it's for pooping oh yeah that's toilet paper well i'm not going to show what i find try walking across this isn't bad i only got what i could fit in my hand leave the other hand for recording over here was our old camp we had tent set up right here walking over because this is all uneven ground so uh that's kind of trashy i'm not gonna show it but we got tires cow came through here after us i swear that wasn't us but we had tires to sit in the very first time we came out here this is the third time the very first time this was our spot right here there's a tent right uh either there or there and then those one right there which was mine the other one was over there but you see our tracks we drove to get in here surprised i haven't hit anything actually i went through a place over there there's a little drop off i don't think i can make it but i accidentally went through it and i made it didn't even hit the drop off so it's just a little cool out here but i think next is gonna be breakfast all right we got the sausage cooking we got butter eggs cheese salsa gotta put that up in a second in that bag it's gonna be good breakfast best breakfast i've had while camping in a long time all right this is our second round of eggs four at a time kind of smoky just a little smoky we got flies we're trying to get them away are you trying to say the same thing as me at the same time okay whatever anyways yeah got flies trying to get away smoke them out you know what i'm saying how was breakfast huh i do good yeah hey we got homemade pecan sauce yeah we got some pecan sauces ant made yeah this is aunt stacy's pecan sauce we got breakfast sausage yeah yeah brand is it um jimmy dean breakfast sausage it's hot sausage yup and wannabe eggs cheesy eggs yeah cheesy and we put some butter in there too hey when are you gonna cook this whenever the stuff gets hot enough and then one day we're gonna cook it and eat it one day i think i can do it today because i'm hungry yeah me too i think i'll just let you have this whole batch and i'll take the whole next don't know if i can eat batch more oh i can eat i can eat uh taquitos all day dude they're so good yeah i got nice dr pepper the meat has kept cold in the cooler because we didn't bring any ice we got our water station right there hey touch this water is it cold wow that's good and it tastes just like faucet water because it is anyways got a nice little hanging rack we need to do something about that chili that might be what those flies want lift the chili overnight it's probably disgusting huh looks good hey we can eat this chili i don't want it but you can it looks like it did last night yeah anyway oh fire started yep i guess i'm gonna cook this here pretty soon all right cody's over there you can see him doing something i'm over here watching the fire and eggs looks like they need to be stirred just another batch and finally got the fire built up and cold started breakfast was good today just got done with breakfast at 12 30.
ah got everything nice and clean over there got our trash cooler other stuff a nice little snack job by him hang up our dirty all right our clean dishes here shirt i don't know this is cody's toiletry bag dr squatch soap batteries utensils for eating that's a good picture i kind of i like our camp it's nice and organized i don't know what he's doing probably setting up something to watch youtube i don't know got his bag got a whole bunch of wood over here right here um i don't know what we're gonna do with it well besides build we don't know how we're gonna build a shelter we might not build a shelter we might uh we might be able to save that with that make some equal pieces and make a seat i don't know if you saw that saying make logs like this and then another one just as long i'll cut it um can build a table or bench or something but suck the hatchet in the tree right here i don't know from this angle you can see everything nice clean camp all right bye my friend he's coming he just called me baby all right all right okay these are pointy see that if they weren't thorns i would definitely use this one right here but those others can be just like it everywhere figured out what i'm going to make kind of like a they make a tripod so i can hang the dutch oven over the fire i might have to use a few different trees i brought the hatchet and folding saw in case i gotta cut something down but there's uh so much wood to choose from out here i think i see something that might work pretty well look this right here you can see it that's a trail for the cattle for some reason they never come in here whenever we're camping i always stay out in the field but i mean there's cow patties everywhere look sometimes they run over trees this is a nice clear spot if it wasn't so close to the neighbor's land we would probably camp over here in this clear spot i mean we can definitely get a truck over here do we want to that's our see all that white stuff right there above the hatchet that's toilet paper from last time anyways so this one right here looks like a nice one these two they look pretty nice all of these so i think i'm gonna do that real quick first one down two to go all right that was actually the easiest i've ever taken down it's a tree it's not really a tree but you know it's pretty decent size so now i got one two three and i gotta find somewhere to set up this phone so i can do another time lapse maybe right here of me uh clearing it off because i don't want dirty branches maybe i'll keep the tops because i just need the bottom where it's thick so here we go i tried it out tried doing the hyperlapse somewhere and it's not working so i'm just gonna cut these to the size i need them and then you'll see them afterwards got these three uh just about same size pretty close the leftovers are right there but i'm gonna not show the walk back because of course i'm not gonna have any hands-free i think uh cody's taking a nap he said he's tired for some reason he's never tired i'm gonna go camping so we'll see hi full belly and it's warm out it got super cold like i woke up with condensation on my uh sleeping bag in the middle of the night i only woke up two or three times and i think it was one time during the night or when it was dark and that's when there was condensation i woke up this morning maybe around eight or nine and it was too cold like it was cold and bright and i didn't want to get up so i uh stayed in tried reactivating the hot hands then when i woke up for the last time which is like 10 till 10. um i couldn't find the hot hands so i just laid in there for a little bit and then finally got out decided to revive the fire and make breakfast took two hours to do our complete breakfast well from fire to cleaning the end like two hours it takes everything takes longer to do out here but it's because we're not exposed to luxuries we bring pretty luxurious items for camping but we still got a we gotta make do with what we bring because we don't have unlimited space like we do in the house of course anyone who's gone camping knows that but uh yeah it's been pretty good so far this is the first time i've i'm barely sweating right now and it's the first time that's happened i'm panting more and my arms kind of tired so i'm gonna set this down walk back to camp and then make a tripod i'll probably do the time lapse on the tripod we'll see no promises okay final product i forgot to do hyperlapse but it was just me tying up here um stands up pretty good clears the fire so just tested it we'll have it a little less though whenever we use it um i don't know how we're going to use it besides tying the crock pot up above it if that even works but so yeah got ourselves a tripod crock pot not crock pot um the the dutch oven dutch oven dutch oven same difference this one's cooked hooked up to electricity all right so uh started to get some sprinkles uh so i kind of built up the fire put tarp over the bed of the truck put a tarp over his helmet helmet hammock yeah that's to hold the tarp down it's good and they got the rainfly on here so probably just sit in the truck hopefully this fire doesn't go out i don't think it will it's not supposed to rain that much but it's time to ride out the storm and have fun in a truck we got it halfway covered hopefully the rain doesn't come down here into the hammock or i'll be sleeping in a puddle but it shouldn't rain too much either it's only supposed to rain for the next hour so it's only supposed to be a shower not a full storm shovel time so i'm gonna hunker down in the in the truck for a minute a few minutes almost an hour it won't get bad so we should be fine i was about to go poop with my toilet paper but it's all the way over there somewhere where i showed earlier on camera and i just don't want to walk all the way over there for the possibility that the shower starts right now it's not bad i'll try to see those are all water droplets you can't see it um all of it's right here on this corner of the tailgate your bag and the toothpaste so shower uh fire's built up should withstand the the rain if the rain comes down hard but if not we should probably get a little bit more before we get in the truck because don't want it to die i think my hoodie's under that tarp too somewhere oh that's fancy but mine's cooler because it gets smaller no don't guess be confident all right anyways don't have anything in there it's too important and it has a rain fly on so this should be fine the window's not open very much just gotta make sure if it comes in at an angle you won't be screwed this whole backside is a thing a mesh so but yeah it should be fine anyways all right so hopefully don't get too bad all right slate this lane the rain has a wow that was good rain has slowed down so getting the fire going again what are we going to do after we get the fire going make mac and cheese good answer um i'm pretty proud of my don't know how we're gonna hang anything on it oh maybe we could just hang the dutch oven actually on one of these uh sticks like this one probably oh smoking the iron lungs always the best started up for the most part yeah you got it got a lot of ass been burning a lot of wood here the first time july all the way to november and that very first time in july we left like what four dr peppers out here we came back in november and they were still carbonated i opened it and drank it we all had one there's four of us there's four or five i think maybe five that's a leaf and uh it was pretty good it was very relaxing these things right here they have a venom in them or something and indians used to put it in their mouth to them when they remove their teeth they're really rare they don't grow that often you're so smart all the cows come out here to die so there's bones everywhere well last time they were like there's a whole bunch of them in the middle of the field for some reason all spread out kind of weird say what oh yeah pull the skeletal system back here's the creek oh there's a big thing of bones right there looks like that tree fell in the cow right here that'd be a bad way to die get stuck by a tree ugh there we go is this where you and nick went right here yeah yeah we can gotta go under that it's not very wet all right can we hold this is it recording yeah it's recording here you go jack you gonna be able to do this you recorded me that's a squirrel we need that bait let's do it do you think they're about to reproduce dude it's crazy you can see it on this camera anyways so lead us oh it's always fun exploring i like to do it more often now i have a license i can i've got different plants out here oh this is the the cleanest creek i've ever seen [Applause] no mighty doll not at all oh it's not dried out oh look there's an orange marker over there yeah well that's the creek got what is this kind of brick that's foam what kind is it it's a foam brick well not much to look at not much to talk about either i think i'm going to try to find a stick to build my bow and arrow jinzy like he's talking uh i've been recording this whole trip and it feels weird first time i've done anything like this oh to get under anywhere over here that's probably all right yeah dead bird came in from the creek nice little trails through here where cattle have been i guess it's clearer and clearer it's nice and thick over there but you can see it's not thick where the grass grows out there there's the camp there's probably a bit catcher in here well also i don't know you would think it they'd be hibernating through the winter but it's not always true yeah me too i was just looking at it that is a good tree dude and where i got the wood from is right there where are we oh oh i'm super disoriented hey there's a tree right here that i wanted to get never mind just fell apart yeah i do too so dead yeah this is perfect this is made by god just for us to build a shelter on dude it barely flew good dude but we're gonna have to find a lot more wood like that stuff that's over there that limbs those limbs and we're gonna have to clear out the ground but i got that shovel to get all the thorns out we gotta we could shovel all the leaves out to make a perimeter yeah um how would you want to make shelter here um i would say lean to from this right here from this limb to where it starts curving just put like a 45 degree angle and then you can maybe build a wall up right here maybe you want to put a link to you on both sides well if we put a lean to on both sides we're going to have to run stakes in the ground to make a wall this way like you mean right here and on the other side too you can alternate them all right stress test passed and this this is still a live tree right still rooted so this will be fine right here um but look this wood right here is a fallen tree i think it'd be perfect maybe maybe this one right here this one we gotta figure out which tree we're gonna use dude if we didn't just find that that was living i would have said we could use this but i just knocked it over so it's no good anymore that's this this wooded area out here is just full and full of dead dead trees that have fallen over the years so now it's turning the fat wood right and you can just this isn't super fat wood but you can just crumble it up in your hand right they got more like over there bro i want to set the bait they got some over there some some of the stumps that are sticking out of the ground like that wood here's gonna be probably closest it's so soft and whenever you set it in the fire it'll either oh yeah this is good really either smolder or flame up see that's perfect dude this is perfect fat wood right here too take some back to go on fire because i mean wow take a handful put it back over there hey i'm gonna go back to camp and grab those limbs and tools and paracord and all that i mean do you want to make that mac and cheese right now you can eat before you if you want yeah me neither i don't worry so i'm gonna set this on the fire so those smaller camps over there you can see it it's nice out here i see a lot of youtubers and they take a place set up a hammock or oh backpacking tent dang i just walked through a big spiderweb camera won't focus in my bad spider web thing but anyways a lot of campers on youtube they just they have you know two or three gopros and uh nice set up all their cameras are on camp they don't show the process behind it getting wood and all that i know a few of them do but it's usually just the wood that's around them sometimes for this fat wood you got to go search for it but i don't have to take those back right there probably not that we were going to make a rotisserie out of that and it didn't work but look at this it's going to kick this out of the way a little bit and then [Music] i think it's already burning on that side right there there we go still satisfying when you just ain't catching on fire i was in all last night and all that it's pretty cool anyways all the tools are under here there's just two that hatched in so these two things i think i could take all that wood back so i brought it on one trip so i should take it all back in one trip but i just won't record my walk back plus i'm kind of being boring talking anyways anyways i'm gonna take all that wood back there because i never cut it up for firewood like i said i was i don't know if i said that if i was just thinking i was gonna tell you all that i was gonna cut that up but there's just so much fallen wood around here that we can use plus normally need a fire anyways we're gonna build a shelter because we have nothing better to do oh moon building a primitive shelter you can't forget paracord and a lighter i can't forget because those are going to be your your best friends if i need more than this which i will need more i got some in my uh bag so anyways gonna take all this back all right we got back and there's some sort of animal over there we're armed not that we need it because we're not gonna kill we're not gonna kill any animals but we are in the footsteps and it's in there somewhere uh there's not telling what it was but it was a lighter footstep it wasn't a it wasn't a cow he's doing some parabolic stuff to his ears to try to hear it it wasn't uh it was probably a dog sized i don't want to say it was a coyote but very well could have been and we can't see anything so hey you want to take the tools back want to take the tools back gonna take the tools back because it's uh starting to rain say what dude that had to be something bigger because those were pretty loud i mean we were in the middle of walking and talking and we heard it but it wasn't like cow big you know anyways maybe we'll see it
