Spearing dogtooth Tuna in the Vavau's (Tonga Part 2) I Ep 58

Yewww Look behind You can see out the top Wow (Kates cinematic battle sounds) Far out It's like a love heart Oh yea Wow that's sick It's kinda spooky that rock there Looks like a big jagger one ae Can you just anchor the dinghy just outside Alright, Scuba Steve Crazy Such a cool cave Whale watching Rigged up We’ve just rigged up some sort of boat attachment system as we are gonna try shoot a Dogtooth and our little floats might not quite handle it so if we get one its gonna be attached to the boat and hopefully we'll be able to haul it in from the boat Let’s se how we go! It was a tricky little dive out here along this ledge there was a school of dogtooth tuna that would come out and every 5-10 minutes they would do a swoop along the edge we were constantly trying to time ourselves with their little circuit to hope to come over the edge the same time that they were coming in close Go Dan Go… (Kate’s muffles snorkel voice) Awesome cave Just the water So sick Such an amazing spot so cool Here we go Pre VV - Fiji passage. What have we got? Yeah.. Fresh as a daisy Scary Yeww, frothing!! Buzzing Just had the most wounding Customs procedure But.. like all good things. We’re off Yeyah! Yeww Power off Power off Hopefully we don’t need that Sails all, hopefully to Fiji Yeww Yeow Out here Leaving the Vavau’s Whale just here So it’s Day 1 of sailing from the Vavau Group to Fiji or *Savu Savu I think we are going to stop at Um.. Its the closest one and then we go to Nadi but today we have about.. 10… argh 6-10 knots 6-10 knots of….. wind
directly behind us and… look what we’ve got out Boom Wing on wings baby Look how beautiful it is So we got, Code D out one side Genoa on the other and we are going 6 and half with 8 knots of wind so, can’t complain with that pretty amazing Sea state I’d say that’s half a meter, a meter maybe? behind us so she’s pushing us along too got the line out saw a massive marlin go past took one of the lewers So that’s a bit of a bugger. But hopefully we’ll get something else Um.. But this is Champagne sailing guys Downwind Easy bit to easy really but, can’t complain because things change like that so, we’ll enjoy it while it lasts Yeww Fish on Kate Yeah go for it! It’s probably a lot safer just leaving it in here We’ll just get all the undies out of the way That’s good yea This is fine. Look, pressure on DDogg, what I’m gonna do, I reckon if you sit in the stairs and get the gaff Oh, maybe she’s gone! Na. Na. It’s still there It’s still on there’s pressure There it is. There it is. Tuna. Go go go Yahee Tuna! Perfect little lewer for it Oh we got the bucket as well I just need the gaff ready And I think what we'll do Fish on! (Crew fizzing) He’s tryna go to the side So Dan or Ddogg, just lead the fish in to the side and gaff it Yea I’ll grab the line, and can bring the line First fish on the new rod First fish on the rod I don’t want blood everywhere Stop worrying about blood get the fish in the boat, Yew Clean up later There’s a bucket here Oh nice little Tuna Your gonna have to grab the line Ddogg and bring it towards ya It’s only a little one, its only a baby Put it in the bucket. Is the bucket there?
Fish in the boat, Oath. And you chuck it in the sauce. La la la le Ew.. And ya slurp it What did you do here Dan? Fresh, what do you call it? Ceviche? (*Sashimi) Tuna, Yellow fin. Beautiful!
Ceviche?? It’s so yummy! Sashimi!! Haha I’m waiting for the cooked version So It’s been such an epic sailing day Um.. filleted up the tuna So we got… Wow.. Look at that Fresh tuna for dinner I’m gonna make little Poke bowls So.. Lets enjoy What have you got going on? Sesame seeds, Poppy seeds. Well, night 2 we’ve done for Fiji And I’ll let you what It is dreamy sailing tonight (*well this morning) The situation is going down wind dead with the swell and We’re going wing on wing We’ve got 7 knots of wind and we’re going 6 knots like.. this is amazing this boat loves it So we’ve got another 24 hours and then we arrive spirits are high I think Aargh.. early morning, yellow flowers That’s the way it goes Thank you Got gannets falling. Check it out Screaming reels in a moment Lets see it We did an over night last night Which everyone did amazing. Trent and Miki did amazing
First shifts and night sail for them Um and they’ve coped really well This morning we were greeted with about 12 knots of wind We had full main up and Genny out And now its about 6… or the lowest I’ve seen was 7 But now we got 10 and downwind so we’ve go the booom We are just coming into Fiji so its time for the flag ceremony Lets go put her up Here we go The Tongan is coming down (Usual out of tone ceremonial trumpet sounds) The Royal Tongan Kingdom Now we have. The Q flag Up the flag goes Morning team Pretty tired today But its Day 3, night 3 completed And Land Ahoy! Um… We’ve got 40 Nautical Miles left to get into Savu Savu Fiji And it feels warm the wind has dropped which unfortunately got the motors on not ideal but its just pretty nice this morning wow my eyes can’t even open….. so tired In the distance.. land I think that’s Taveuru *Taveuni Code D up Q flag But its been an amazing little sail from Tonga to Fiji Um.. Not complaining, that was a dreamy sail Crews done awesome Where are we Dan? And what are we doing? We are just docking at Nawi in Savu Savu, Fiji Actually we’ll try get this stern on first Dad Dad, try get the stern on We’re gonna get blown off Thanks for watching guys we are so stoked to be now in Fiji one of our favourite sailing destinations next week, we are going to be getting our boat out on the hard doing some work and then going out and exploring the beautiful waters that Fiji has to offer We’ll see you on the next one
