quack quack quack quack hi guys welcome back to my channel and  today we are going to explore singapore   on a one hour duck tour which allows you to see city sights by both land and water on the duck an amphibious military vehicle that will  refurbish from world war 2 you will drive   around the city to check out attraction like  the Fountain of Wealth and Singapore Flyer   Then hit the water to cruiser past landmarks like the Merlion Singapore famous statue That sit where the Singapore River meets Marina Bay and now let's enjoy this afternoon and behind me we have captain  han so we will be together for the next 50 to   55 minutes depending on the traffic situation  and kids this tour is going to be both land   and water so the first part of our journey  we will be like a bus on the road and then   once we reach the waterfront  area we will all make a splash   into the waters and we turn into a  boat okay but safety reminders first i now need your attention  this is a safety briefing   please take note of where the life  boy and fire extinguisher are located   adult life tests are found under your  seats while toddler life vests are placed   in front in an emergency put the vest over your  head and secure the strap around your waist please   attend to yourself before helping the glowworms  exit doors are on both sides of the craft evacuate   only upon the captain's border while in the  water you may use the whistle to attract   attention rest assured the duck is equipped  with modern features to ensure your safety hey darius i heard my name who called my name oh hi there  i'm darius the coolest stuff in the whole wide world the original duck tours now for  your safety please ensure you keep your   arms and head within the vehicle at all times  especially when taking photos or videos parents   do look after your little ones kindly  remain seated when the duck is on the move we will cover this for our civic district and the  scenic congressman if there are no hold ups or   traffic you will be back here in about an you're  a little curious about this wavy duck ride let me   share with you its life story born in the 1960s it  is a bona fide vietnam war yep believe it or not   three of our ducks were ridden with bullet holes  when we first found them in america during the   war this stuff was used to carry ammunition and  rations from ship to shores it also supported the   marines in their beach landing operations we have  since upgraded it to a modern hydrostatic system   with additional safety conditions it is now  fully remodeled into acute duct for city sites there are two amphibious  tour operators in singapore   got it right we are the original at the  singapore tourism award winning duck   now listen up kids if you spot a copycat at any  time on this dirty show we are the best the first   that only means one thing we  are now about to make a splash   into the waters okay so reminders do not  stand when we're making the splash secure   loose items that may drop during the entry  and parents please look after our little ones this is expected to finish at the height of   250 meters tall imagine that and it is  in an island called the blue water island   so that would be like the flyer and the hat okay  so that will be opening in october this year do do oh wow okay you know every time we do this tours and the  duck is full of tourists we do ask questions   one of the most frequently asked questions about  the merlion would be is this the original merlion   is the original merlion some are  shaking the heads okay the answer is   it is the original merlion  however not the original location 1972 the reliant was first installed at the  mouth of the singapore river that was at the back   okay so through the years that our line was  there together with the baby we're lying   until they started to build some esplanade  bridge so when the bridge was completed in 1997   summer lion was locked at the back and they  started with sight considering he is our   future icon so the remaining 2002 merlion  was transferred to where he is right now   and that was 30 years after he was first installed  so yes original not the original location 500 tables and 1 600 look up and you'll see  the 340 meter long skyline there you'll find a   150 meter infinity swimming pool served in the  world behind the cow at 44 lanes and las vegas it also looks like a giant gold okay  and in the basement they have heavy   rains they actually collect rainwater they  stop the roof plus the pole in the middle   which you can open until the rainwater  is through so the rainwater is stored   and guess what they use that to flush the  toilets so you get to maximize rain water the bridge has four viewing plant platforms at  strategic locations providing stunning angles of   the singapore skyline as well as underscoring  events taking place within the marina bay   when night falls the bridge is illuminated by  a series of multi-huge lights that enhance the   double helix design which was  inspired by the dna structure we are in the marina bay reservoir  in the past it mainly contains do we missed the race last year we didn't have  any race but guess what we actually have a   date for this year it is supposed to happen on  october 1st to the 3rd 2021 that's in five months   how would that be okay we'll see how it is let's  keep our fingers crossed but for our safety   and the health of everybody is the priority  and talking about health while we are waiting   for the race our deep building it's now a  temporary swapping center we have employees   from various industries coming here to get  their swap tests so if an employee tests uh   negative they would continue to come back here  every 14 days or twice a week or twice a month   okay they come back here for their swat test and  well it's a sunday it's not so busy but you know   what there were times before that this was really  full even outside here there will be glories vans   cars parked and on days like that they would have  they can conduct up to six thousand straps this just take note that the flyer is only  operational from thursdays to sundays   the first drive actually starts at 2 o'clock  and the last morning time is at 9 30 in the   i find that the evening takes about 30 minutes on my right is the ritz carlton hotel notice  the octagonal windows shaped like the bob walk   an ancient chart used to study feng shui the  windows are believed to absorb good fortune and   ward off evil check out the singapore one  dollar coin yeah but i want the sun right   okay the other answer that sometimes  i get would be changi airport   i want the sunrise it is auspicious to  face the morning sun okay so that's why   most of the buildings are actually oriented  that way but there's a practical side to   that you can allow natural light to  filter through your building it is few places in the world offer a more diverse food  selection than singapore the spicy chili crab has   enticed many foodies all over the world and is  perhaps the one dish that is synonymous with   singapore a close second would be the hainanese  chicken rice both dishes were selected to be   contested by celebrity chef gordon ramsay who  pit herself against our local hawker heroes   here is a touring tip conquered food centers  are often packed during meal times if you see an   umbrella or a tissue pack on an unoccupied table  that means it's taken locals refer to this quirky   table reservation practice as choke go ahead place  a teaching pack on an empty table run off to buy   your food and the table remains yours when you  return you may have heard that singapore is a fine   country you know how they all get the prada which  is what we're currently seeing on our right side talking about the padang okay the paddock  was already a favorite because back then   there was also a famous food place around this  side here what was it called the satay club   yes you know what one time as i was doing this  field when i was in the sunday club a family at   the back they all clumped quiet circumvent they're  happy with the saturday club and then the doctor   said my father used to own one of those falls  here stall number five yeah so that was their   stalls so when i asked the younger ones are you  still continuing with the sunday business no no   no no no you don't want any work okay but yeah  that was a famous good place around this area this is a memorial to honor all the soldiers who  bravely fought and died in protecting singapore   during the war so hopefully when this construction  is finished it will be smooth because   back then they had like square  plates which is a little really   bumpy they already started construction on this  side so further down it's a little smoother can you still remember when was  the last time you were in this area   we are approaching anderson bridge erected in  1910 it is named after governor sir john anderson   commander-in-chief of the straight settlements  during world war ii the japanese would display   heads of beheaded spies on this bridge we are  now turning into the civic district by the 19th   century the british empire ruled a quarter of the  world's population and singapore was the crown   the padang was the center of colonial life and a  place to culminate in the eight months europeans   on horseback and more strong carriages were  common men both the rich and poor gathered here in the early hours of 8th december  1941 the pattern was followed by   the japanese in three short months rip's  impregnable fortress fell into their hands   singapore was renamed sionanto meaning the  light of the south as the ocean to tokyo on 12 september 1945 at city hall this was also  the venue where lee park you declared singapore's   independence in 1965. coming up now on our left  side is a cathedral which is about 160 years old   this is the same pantries cathedral this is about  uh this is an african church and they have been   in this area since 1836. interestingly this is  already the second cathedral that was built here   the first one had to be demolished in 1855  you know why because it was already unsafe   the reason being it was already hit  by lightning twice 1845 and 1849.   and nickel highway this is called raffles  reclamation this was an earlier land reclamation   project before marina bay was built okay remember  earlier i was talking about the buildings   so now we know the shape of the powers looks like  a sail right a seal going in opposite direction   the roof look at the roof what does the shape  of the roof look like waves yes because you know   what this is a subtle way of paying tribute  to the history and the heritage of the land   that they were building and they were built on  so they've incorporated this piece of history   so when the raffles reclamation area was completed  the beach uh that is and it was so big 365 hours   of free came back and it took 20 years for that  project to finish or to being completed and when   that was done the coastline became marina barrage  area so from beach road all the way to the garage   that's a distance of about three kilometers  away depending on which area you're traveling we are now at the heart of suntech city  chinese geometry had a great influence   over the architectural design here sun tech  city is marveled after our left hand notice   the five finger-like towers surrounding us the  shortest power on our left represents the thumb   positioned in the center of the plum is the  world's largest object uniquely the water   flows inward the courage of chinese geometry this  signifies wealth flowing into one's top if you're   on suncheck this evening remember to catch the  free water fountain laser show at eight pm do   you hear that something is like our left hand okay  take a look at your left hand because our thumb is   our fight that's the shortest tower then we have  powers one two three four it looks like this and   the fountain is in the middle if it's playing the  water floors inwards because this is symbolic of   investments and opportunities and  businesses pouring into suntech city   we are now coming to the end of the tour  remember to check with our crew at suntech   for your boarding pass privileges enjoy  great savings to all top attractions in   singapore such as the flyer universal  studios gardens by the bay sca aquarium   river safari night safari zoo city night tours  and more thank you for choosing duck and hippo   if there's anything that we can do to make your  stay here even more pleasant please let us know   gratuities are customary feel free to tip any of  our deserving crew for a good service rendered   and finally before you alight  remember to take all your belongings   don't leave anything behind see you soon oh no is  the tour over oh i'll miss you all especially the
