Our New Backyard is PARADISE! SV Delos Ep 346
(upbeat music) - [Brian] Welcome to our latest backyard. Nestled up next to the lush is Isla Bastimentos, located off the Northwest corner of mainland Panama in the stunning Bocas Del Toro Archipelago. (upbeat music) We just made landfall in Panama after a week long, 1,100 mile, passage from Mexico. Congratulations, we sailed from one country to another.
(JaeCee laughs) Seven days at sea. - This is so cool. - [Brian] Isn't it? And after taking care of the arrival tasks, like checking in, drinking a few cocktails and celebrating life back on Terra Firma, we were back in full cruiser mode and ready to soak up this little slice of paradise to the max.
Starting with one of our favorite past times that we haven't done in such a long time. (upbeat music ends) (water gushes) (upbeat music) (upbeat music) Is your hair ready to go wakeboarding? - Yeah. - [Brian] Did you put makeup and everything on to go wakeboarding? - Yeah.
- So on a scale of one to 10, how would you rate your wakeboarding skills? - Maybe a four. - [Brian] A four? - Five, if I'm pushing it. - [Brian] All right, let's do this. - I'm gonna shred. - [Brian] Shred it? - Yup. - Okay, let the wakeboarding commence.
(upbeat music) Oh, come on. (upbeat music continues) (motor revs) Wow. - [Jade] That was cool. - [Brian] Taylor can wake board. In the water with you, splash. (upbeat music continues) Hey, you're ready? Okay, I'm gonna put a little power on, I'm just giving you a feeling for it.
(upbeat music continues) (water splashes) (motor revs) That was pretty good, you actually went goofy foot, like after you got up. (JaeCee mumbles) How do you surf? - With my right foot forward. - [Brian] Then do the same.
(upbeat music continues) Look at that one, good job JaeCee. - I know. - [Brian] That was awesome. How's that going? - So good. - [Brian] How was that? - Give me a minute. (Brian chuckles) Yeah, no that was cool.
- Alright, here we go, my turn. (upbeat music continues) Are you ready Kazzatron? - Yeah, let's do this. (upbeat music continues) - Stand up, stand up, yeah.
(upbeat music continues) Look at her go. - [Brian] That looks like a lot of fun, your arm got tired? You looked pretty awesome though. The cruiser life is an unpredictable mixture of life's sweetest moments and its hardest ones too.
And after our amazing morning on the water, it was time for a difficult moment that we've come to know all too well on "Delos," it was time to say goodbye? Where are you going? We have to give you your gift. (Brian chuckles) Come out here, if you're gonna choke, choke on camera. (JaeCee coughs) - She actually is chocking.
(Sierra coughs) (JaeCee mumbles) - [Karin] Sierra? - [JaeCee] We're all laughing instead of helping. - I know the Heimlich, I actually do, I can help you. - [Brian] Thank you so much for being an awesome crew and coming. I can't believe that you're leaving tomorrow. Two weeks has flown by but we wanted to give you, since you sailed on "Delos," then you get a special "Delos" crew T-shirt. - Thank you. Look, oh my gosh.
- [Karin] When is your flight on, like super early tomorrow? - 7:00 a.m. - Yeah, 7:00 a.m. - Which means we got to give you a dinghy ride at like 5:30 in the morning or something and then you're gonna be in Miami in like three hours. - Yeah, that's crazy. - [Karin] So that's a week to sail here. - It took us a week to sail from Mexico, plus another three days to sail from like, Florida to Mexico.
So in three hours you covered the same distance that we did it like 10 or 11 days. - Hey. - [Both] Hey. - Thank you so much.
- Oh, thank you guys, I had so much fun. - We'll see you again next time you roll through Key West. - Oh my God.
- [Karin] I gotta get a hug snug too. - [Brian] Yeah, because it might be too early for early morning hugs. - To new friends. It was so good. - I'm like, I'm a really emotional person, So I'm really trying really hard not to cry. - [Brian] You brought like a really fun, bubbly, atmosphere and vibe to the boat.
It was really awesome to watch you like, learn to sail more, to like do hand steering and to get into all that. It was very special. - Thank you. (upbeat music) - [Taylor] JaeCee, last night dinner celebration.
Look at this? - We have three dishes. Number one dish is strange fried potato, salad with cheese, chips with salt. - [Taylor] Sounds great. - It's actually really good. Steamed beans with a glaze. We got sausages with sauteed onions.
We'll see you again, it's never goodbye, it's only until we see you again. - Yes, sir. - What a last night dinner, what a bash. - Wow. - Look at that. - [Brian] Wow, well, thank you.
(gentle music) Oh, kinda crispy. (upbeat music continues) The next morning after dropping JaeCee at the airport, it didn't take long for our little ball of sunshine to brighten up our day again, having us in stitches till it hurts. We just dropped JaeCee off for her flight and she sends this message. - So I had to take my COVID test today and so she said, "Hey, I hope the COVID thing went well for you. "I'm currently in the men's room "and I didn't know it was a men's room.
"I'm trying to get out of here without guys seeing me." - [Brian] I can just imagine her hiding in one of the stalls. Well, now it's-- - She said, "I saw Panamanian penis." - [Brian] What? (both laugh) JaeCee how are you gonna explain that to your boyfriend? (both laugh) She didn't send a picture, did she? - Oh my God, no, she did not send a picture. (Brian chuckles) She said, "I saw Panamanian penis, "when I walked out of the stall "and I feel so ashamed of myself, I sprinted out. "All I saw was banos and there was no doors for women."
(both giggle) I think the urinals should have let her know. - [Brian] JaeCee. - [Jade] That's hilarious. - [Brian] Oh, her first Panamanian-- - Oh, man that's pretty funny. - Hi, Delos Tribe, we're super excited for the holidays.
- [Brian] If you'd like to grab a gift for that salty sailor in your life, now is the perfect time. All our most popular items like rash guards, Delos flags, koozies, sticker packs and just about everything is on sale right now. Plus, Kazza just finished designing, our kids' beach wear line. It features SV Delos herself, flying through the waves. So it's pretty cool. So head on over to svdelos.com/shop, grab your holiday gifts early. - Thank you so much, we love you guys.
Now, back to the show. - Back to the show. We were enjoying a slightly less provocative view on our own on this glorious sunny morning and we even had some visitors come out to "Delos." (both speak in foreign language) - [Karin] That's pretty cool that's like a special service that came right up.
- Simple is it, living in the village, they're chicken empanadas. - It's like incredibly sunny today. It's really the first kind of super sunny day we've had, since we got here since it's the rainy season. So we're gonna take advantage of it and probably move around the corner a little bit. This was a lovely spot, like I wouldn't mind coming back here but it's fun to explore some new places.
Did you find the line? - I found the line. - [Karin] Wow, you arm is like, sweaty. - [Brian] Do you know how hot it is here? - [Karin] Is it glycening? - [Brian] Yeah, my whole body is glycening. It's freaking hot out here.
- [Karin] It is, it's like zero knots of wind. - There's zero knots and the sun is beating down on us. - Yeah, we have the laundry going. Are we gonna take it down for the sail or no? - The laundry? - Yeah.
- No, We're gonna leave the panty flags up. (both chuckle) Girl crew. - [Karin] Girl crew.
You know this girl crew and these panties hanging from all the halyards. Real cruising boat. Now, we're cruising around with our laundry out. - Funny thing with sailors, like you can always tell when it's laundry day on every boat 'cause it's all like hanging out. - [Karin] Yeah. - Ready nugget, are you gonna help me? Girl crew, drive the boat.
Okay, lift up the anchor. You already tried to drop it while we were in the marina. (both chuckle) (Brian hums) (click sound) - [Brian] Boom, boom, boom. - Hi. - [Brian] Where are we go and skipper.
(Sierra mumbles) You found somebody on the VHF, you're making sure that we have clearance to leave. (Brian grumbles) (engine revs) Okay, all systems are go. Come up Tay. I was thinking you could be skipper for the day. - Oh really? - [Brian] What do you think? - Okay, how far are we going, like full three miles? - [Brian] I think it's like six.
- Wow, okay. - [Karin] Hi, little sailor baby. - [Brian] Oh hi, are you gonna help me pick up the anchor? You ready skipper? - [Karin] She's not even by the helm. - [Brian] Skipper is not at the helm? Geez, okay. I'm going anyway. (pulley whizzes) (Mumbles) number five.
Can you put the wash down on, please? The wash down is just a fantastic thing. Especially when we're in muddy bottoms like this. Look at all that mud coming off. Okay, wash down off, hooks up. (upbeat music) - Hello there.
(upbeat music) (crank rattles) - Wow. - [Karin] Wow. (upbeat music) - [Brian] I think we should make a little stop. - Yeah. - [Brian] Yeah, so-- - It is really hot.
- [Brian] There's supposed to be a really good snorkeling, you see that point right there. The one with all the cool trees on it. It's called a Hospital Point. And there's two or three good snorkeling sites, all around it so maybe we can just anchor-- - Where would we anchor? - [Brian] Anywhere. - I guess anywhere.
Oh, are you going snorkeling, Sierra, she's ready. Oh, you're ready Dashy? Did you get all the masks for us? Thank you, thank you, Baby Nugs. Oh, okay, thank you.
- [Karin] Upside down, every time. - [Brian] Up side down is the best way. We're gonna work on that, life skills. Sierra clearly couldn't wait to get into the water and luckily we're almost to our impromptu snorkel spot for the day known as Hospital Point. In the late 1800's, the United Fruit Company controlled, most of the banana plantations in the area.
And with the prevalence of malaria and yellow fever, they built a hospital to treat the workers, which opened in 1899. When the banana tree started dying from a fungus disease, the plantations were abandoned and the hospital closed it's doors in 1920. The buildings were torn down and it didn't take long for the forest to reclaim the land, returning to its raw, natural and drop dead gorgeous form that we know it as today. Ahoy Delos Tribe, I am pretty excited today because we are announcing the creation of our first ever "Delos" NFT or non-fungible token.
So the NFT is going to be a unique representation of our most viewed video ever. It's going to live on the Ethereum blockchain and the interplanetary file system to make sure that it sticks around forever and we've even managed to organize a carbon offset to make the transaction as environmentally friendly as possible and there will ever only be, one of these NFT's created for this video. The NFT auction begins Friday, December 3rd. So if you'd like to own a unique digital asset, representing our most notorious video to date and support future videos, just head on over to svdelos.com/NFT,
join the auction, place a bid, we sure appreciate it. All right, thanks very much for watching and your time and enjoy the rest of the video, back to the show. Well, let's see how this feels right here. We're in 17 meters of water. - 18. - [Brian] Okay, go ahead and start dropping the hook. - [Taylor] Send it? - [Brian] Send it.
(pulley whizzes) And then you see that chain counter. - You can tell how much shame you have out. Maybe go till it's about 30. - Okay.
- [Brian] Where are you at now? - 16. - [Brian] Could you hear it hit the bottom? You hear the pitch change-- - I wasn't paying attention. - [Brian] And like, lightened up a little bit, it's I know the hook's on the bottom. It's pretty good anchorage for a snorkel.
- Yeah, this is really cool. - All right, pool's open, pool's open. So what I think you guys should do, is maybe jumping off the back and just swim along and then around the point and go on the outside of the reef and just, I don't know, what's there but it says it should be something. - Fo sho.
- [Taylor] Let's do this gracefully - [Jade] I don't know if there is a gracefully. - [Taylor] Three, two, one. (both woo) (upbeat music) - Is it a wall Tay? - Yeah, it's like a full on wall that goes straight down.
(upbeat music) - [Brian] What'd you guys find down there? (upbeat music) - [Karin] Is that a safe? - I thought, it's a speaker. - [Karin] Oh. - [Taylor] Yeah, I thought it was a safe and I got super excited. - I might just take her into the beach.
(upbeat music) (water splashes) (upbeat music) Here you go. Oh, you see that wave? This is a nice spot. (upbeat music) Mommy's snorkeling, we're exploring the beach.
(upbeat music) Careful, Nugs there's waves there. Okay, come here I got you, I got you, come here, come here. You're okay, come here, come here, come here big girl. Sometimes the waves are scary, huh? (upbeat music) - Oh, this is a nice little beach. The snorkeling was okay, there was some really cool fishes though.
But I did find, ooh, a handful of trash. So that's always nice to take out of the ocean. The water is beautiful - [Brian] Yeah, you're beautiful, look at that. Look how sexy mommy is. (Sierra mumbles) - Hi, hi my love. - [Brian] How was it? - Pretty cool.
- [Brian] Yeah. - [Taylor] Yeah. - [Brian] How about this beach? - So cool you get your own private little beach. - [Brian] It's like a little cove. Can you do a family photo of us? - Yeah. (upbeat music) - [Brian] Next up on "Delos," we find our very own "Jurassic Park" in Panama.
Kazza meets her spirit animal. - Sloths. - [Brian] And we float around with some starfish and get deep into island life. (upbeat music) - Hey.
(Brian laughs) (upbeat music) - [Karin] Nugs, what happened, did you fall on your face. Do you have your turtle. Okay, that's all that matters. - There's a crazy baby on the counter, stuffing on the butter and funions. - [Taylor] Are you filming my underwear? - [Karin] No that's my underwear, Taylor. - Okay, just a lot bigger.
- [Brian] Like a half chewed apple back there. (upbeat music)
