My Mom's First Time On A Thai Island (Overwhelming)
I am taking my family to my favorite island in Thailand I'm still traveling together with my family my mom is here my auntie and my uncle it's their first time in Thailand what's also going to be their first time ever on a tropical beautiful paradise looking like Island and then we just arrived here coming from Bangkok it was a short 30 40 minute flight and now we're taking these little buses here very small yeah yeah I think I've been to this airport before and I think this is the smallest airport I've ever been to it's just a building over there you're gonna see it in a minute so this is the tiny airport here domestic arrivals of course domestic there are no international arrivals here of course and yeah the planners now we need to go to the ferry and take the ferry and then over to the island and then reach our hotel of course this one 280 Baht per person the boat ticket including hello hello take it here Kelsey and more chicken getting food yes we pay you wow yes oh no okay wait all right I can take it no problem all right not forgetting you guys here oh my camera yeah okay thank you all right see you here okay so the price for the taxi including the ferry was now 280 per person and then we have to get another taxi after arrival [Music] and we made it to the island and yeah where are we we are in Thailand's strut province which is far in the East bordering with Cambodia and in front of the coast here you can find three beautiful islands called makukud and cool Chang I've been to all three of them all of them are very beautiful and yeah now we are on kochang I have been here two times before so yeah I know this island quite well it is my favorite island in Thailand it's not as touristic as kosamui or Phuket for example but still a very beautiful place to travel to we made our first step onto the island at 5 40. 5 40 p.m on a beautiful afternoon yeah the the question is now will we make it to the hotel before sunset sunset is like half an hour um Maybe not today but let's see the whole group is here okay I'm always a little bit worried not to lose anymore especially my mom she's like going to all the places and it's the person that is most likely to uh to get lost here the biggest challenge yeah the biggest challenge taking care of my mom hello four people Boutique oh what is he doing up there [Laughter] 100 what are you looking forward to the most on the beach obviously the beach yeah the beach waterfall and maybe she's an elephant that's not caged them actually the name called Chang means Elephant Island who means Island and Thai and Chang mean elephant all right let's check in we have to take off the shoes shoes that's okay can I please have all the passports all right it is after Sunset already now but that's totally all right as I said before we're going to stay here for a week so I'm sure in one of the next days we will see plenty of beautiful sunsets hopefully thank you very much all right let's have a quick look at the room yeah so we have a double bed here we have a big desk here but these days I'm not here for work we have a big bathroom as well and we even have a little balcony here which is lovely but yeah the Highlight is oh I can even see the ocean from here let's have a quick first look at the ocean as well all right so this is our outdoor area we have a beautiful pool here I will just show it to you quickly now and then we have a proper look again in the morning with better like condition but we have a restaurant here this is also I think the area where we will have breakfast in the morning and then yeah over there is the little beach bar nice palm trees here welcoming you to the beach a huge seating area here and then here at the beach where you can have dinner here and that's also what we are going to do now we're having dinner here at the beach now we have the nice beachfront here I'm very curious how we look in the morning as well he's having cashew nuts with chicken what's your first impression here [Music] and that's you haven't really seen much yet so this is just a tiny piece of it okay it's like yeah yeah yeah so we are going to enjoy the rest of the evening here and then tomorrow morning I will show you some more impressions of kochang and our stay here and good morning it is the next morning here now and yeah I will do it like this I will film The outro to this explore this beautiful island in this video in a minute there's one thing actually here that's not ideal and that's the case actually in many many hotel rooms and that is that the curtains are not totally blocking out all the light so the whole night there is some light shining in and I'm someone I can sleep much better if the room is completely dark and for that reason I am still happy that I a little Hidden Gem a local restaurant we are going to leave the main road here now and yeah I'm trying to show my family not only the famous tourist sites also some local hidden gems we are usually tourists can't be found so we're driving through this little road here now and there is a nice restaurant where I've been to the last time I was on kochang in 2021 oh and I see the chicken on the grill already here yes that's what I am looking for somebody let's see maybe I don't think she remembers me let's see but I remember this place very well yeah oh hello I remember your chicken yeah you remember me oh I was here one and a half years ago yeah I came with my Chinese friend yeah yeah yeah yeah oh she remembers nice I come back for your chicken and I bring my family my mom yeah and my aunt and uncle and I tell them about your chicken I think it was with honey right honey and sugar oh yeah but the chicken here was amazing oh yeah check out chicken here and this is what you put around ah but the sugar and this one honey sugar honey and and sauce maybe like oyster sauce or fish sauce yeah oyster sauce yeah okay okay ah and then you mix everything together yeah yeah ah nice too much okay mmm is this one salt yeah oh easy okay yeah and then you put around the chicken ah okay okay yeah um how much chicken we need what do you think how hungry are you should we share a half a chicken okay can we get half a chicken yeah half chicken yeah okay and do you want rice as well or am I sometimes papaya salad we tried it before remember foreign what about you okay sticky rice do we have vegetables okay true fried vegetables inside yeah well she put some herbs inside I didn't remember that before you Rusty huh that's delicious yeah she has a little restaurant here yeah it is like a five minute ride away from the main road I don't think that you see many tourists here it's in the middle of a yeah a little Forest here and there's also waterfall right yeah we want to see the waterfall as well you see music you want to see now yeah we want to go after after the dinner the lunch not the dinner all right okay and there's water over there which I remember well as well but it looks much better than one and a half years ago yeah I remember I was here during covet towards the end of 2021 and it looked a little bit run down for obvious reasons of course but now it looks very good again looks much better than the last time I was here and we have a little water hole here yeah Creek isn't it it's a creek yeah I think it's a fresh water from the mountain actually oh and many fish inside yeah I guess it's coming from the mountain so maybe you can drink it but yeah I want to show the fish here there are plenty of fish here I'm not sure if you can see it on the camera but many many many fish some children playing over there or some girls ah peaceful here right very peaceful a little Hidden Gem and I found my favorite beer in Asia here San miguelite which reminds me about the Philippines it is coming from the Philippines in the Philippines you can find it all over the places in Thailand it's a little bit rare to find but we need to try it you got it yeah from your light and maybe a good one as well here why not why not okay send me a light some chicken fresh from the grill take the opener oh yeah he's a German open yeah as the Germans we can open beer bottles with everything this beers from the Philippines and it's my favorite beer in Asia well actually all over the world I would say overall my favorite beer not be a person it tastes like beer you want to keep it okay my mom wants to keep it so oh okay now everyone wants a beer everyone wants to try my favorite beer so we'll get two more it's uh the same percentage as a regular beer five percent but it's light in calories I think it's only like 100 calories per bottle here we go ladies as we say in Germany yeah not not for him so you prefer Chang nor singer yes yeah okay maybe you would like the the non-light version more there's also Sun Miguel which is non-like this is tastes not only a bit like beer yeah yeah more like water like water okay maybe let's see how the cooking yeah like some yeah yeah it's like um like a mix of different spices like Pepper for example and then there's different ingredients mixed together quick and easy um well very good yeah do you have um tourists here sometimes like uh come here that's a big um oh really yeah oh they see my video and they come here oh that's nice oh that's really nice to hear if you've seen my video here before and to do with ghosts right this one around the tree it's uh for for ghosts something with ghost right I learned about that before that Thai people uh web colorful things around trees like this and yeah you pray ah okay that's for the uh something like this same like of course for the for the big trade yeah normally when when we uh wishing something seven seven color seven colors okay seven color that's mean on Monday is yellow color oh okay on Sunday is after different days have different color yeah yes but this is uh nothing with ghost because I remember that it has something to do with it I have a lady Angel of the Angel the tree ah okay guys ah and this is this is for for the angel yes we cannot be big big t-shirt or something for them okay I see the same yeah okay so Thai people believe that there's an angel inside the tree and the wrapping or how you want to call this is a for the angel and this is I see that many times that you have wet wet drinks next to a tree for Thai people or Asia people when we uh when we give yeah yeah this is a offering for the for the angel or for the ghosts okay you see that a lot in Thailand actually that there are little cups like next to uh to a door for example or next to a to a tree give away any bird spirits or just offerings for the for the angles my mom was wondering if it's uh if the spirits or the the angel is good or bad good good the the anger in the in in the tree or in the flower or or something same like if if European have a fairy very very very helps that's something no no that's similar yeah okay thank you so much for explaining okay I try to expand but my English oh no problem good enough so we had a half a chicken we had some vegetables some sticky rice four beers let's see what's the outcome with 90. oh my God and the 400 is just a beer yeah yeah are the beers the most expensive how many chickens do you have here every day because we were wondering how many chickens every day six about five or six and if empty then empty yeah no more if you have a long holiday in Thailand yeah before the virus Corona normally 30 or 40. oh really yes and now six oh so little yes oh oh maybe if you see this video and eating like this with yeah that's what I usually also prefer like staying if you know my channel then you know that staying away from the truest areas visiting some local places like this speaking with the locals getting to know about their life their culture I got that from you yeah I never liked hotels and Resort okay and let's check out a waterfall over there take it over there yeah okay all right waterfall is part of the national park here and national parks Parks have a fee in all over Thailand and usually the fee is higher for foreigners than it is for locals which uh I don't have a problem with but I do I do know that many foreigners do have a problem with that where do we pay here ah take it over there okay okay um so usually the fee for the national parks in Thailand is 200 for eigners and like 40 or 50 for the locals I know somebody cup we have a four four person you are today yeah yeah okay okay so let's have a look my aunt really wanted to see a waterfall here you already said on the flight to kochang or to trudge that you want to see waterfall here of course yes so this is necessary for me to me just a point on the schedule is for you now I was looking forward to that all right let's go into the jungle my mom is a little bit uh scared of snakes or spiders oh she want to stay there come on there are no big snakes or spiders here we're only going for like 500 meters now and the needs will go first so if there's a big there's a big snake he will see it first they have big snakes here no okay there are no snakes in Thailand that's not what I Googled it but seriously like I spent one and a half years in Thailand and I've never seen a snake here not once and I've never seen a spider that was bigger than than like this thank you there's a little Viewpoint here oh that looks nice right wow basically in the middle of the the kochang jungle here all right and after a short and easy less than 10 minute hike I would say we have arrived at this beautiful waterfall here and there's also here's some water where you can go swimming the feather shining currently right against the waterfall oh that is actually a very beautiful place and yeah for less than 10 minutes working or hiking for it's definitely worth it so is this a place that you uh or like you imagined waterfall like you uh I don't know what I imagined nothing special but it's very nice very nice impressive pretty nice can I say something of course you do have a lot of trust in my physical abilities I'm an old woman can I just say that this is not recommended for people my age did you film the trail yeah of course I made it yeah what it was like 10 minutes maybe and I didn't see any spiders or snakes and I didn't care anyway see yeah and you are rewarded with this View okay okay let's bring my mom down here they oh the water looks actually quite refreshing oh yeah I think it's pretty much coming from the mountains over there so this fresh Mountain Water here oh very nice okay Michael decided to uh to go swimming the refreshing water it looks pretty deep actually so maybe you can make a make a jump in there let's go foreign how is it the first time I have cool water in Thailand the first time having cool water all right then we're going to make a quick stop at one of these tourist shops here because my mom and my aunt they actually want to buy a new backpack for bringing home some stuff that they bought here so yeah let's have a look at some backpacks here he has a variety of different ones available let's see how much they ask for here 480. so this is uh okay so less than 500 for this one maybe you want to open it we can open right yeah have a look but this one looks for the size actually looks quite okay perfect yes oh you can strap it on the shoulder as well and I'm pretty sure that this is a carry-on size as well so you can take it into the airplane okay I will buy it oh that was a quick decision you don't want to look at that sometimes it's that easy to go shopping with a with a woman yeah first shop we stop at and immediately uh five minutes later we have a purchase yeah yeah you can probably negotiate the price down a little bit but uh I feel like if the price is already low um I don't see the need to bargain a lot I mean they have had a tough time the past two years here so why bargain for one or two dollars the price is already okay like this I think it's uh there's no need to do it all right and there's later now and yeah earlier in this video I promised you to give you a final review about our hotel our stay here and yeah we spent almost a week here now and yeah our hotel is right here this is the beach in front of our hotel and yeah we are all absolutely Amazed by this accommodation I spend quite a lot of time researching different hotels here because yeah I wanted uh that my family has a great time here so I spend a lot of time researching hotels but in the end I decided for this hotel and I am very happy that I did so the name of the hotel is Vena Boutique Hotel I will leave a Google Maps Link in the description as well and yeah we paid around 70 US dollar per night per room here that was including the breakfast there was a huge breakfast buffet every morning which was really cool and yeah as you can see the accommodation is right at the beach we also saw some amazing sunsets here basically every evening there was a great sunset here [Applause] how do you like it and the sun sets on kochang or in Thailand in general can be absolutely amazing quite epic and yeah the area of the hotel looks great we have a pool this step is super friendly so I am quite happy with this hotel here and yeah in the next episode we are going to explore the east coast of kochang which is way less
