My First Day in DARJEELING West Bengal
so I don't know what's called my friends and welcome back to another video and in today's video we are actually heading to another place in India specifically in the West Bengal area so we're flying into an airport called bag dog I don't know how to say it but yeah we just finished up the last week or a little bit more than that exploring Oliver kuahati going to kaziranga National Park and a few other spots and now we're actually heading up to Darjeeling so I'm going to be sharing with you guys the whole process I didn't show you the airport leaving guwahati because you saw that on my first Vlog when I arrived but as you can see right here we are landing into cloudy and hazy and very luscious green so it's right outside of the main city which is about two and a half hours from Darjeeling so we're gonna look for a bus go through that whole process show you once we walk into the airport and everything it's gonna be a fun time Darjeeling is a top spot to visit in India and specifically in West Bengals so let's head on over there as soon as we land all right my friends welcome to bagdogra looks like we are at the backdogra airport small little airport looks like there's only like uh two planes flying in there don't you blood all right my friends in fast forward from on the plane to now maybe 30 minutes later I arrived to the airport but I had no idea that airport was like a military airport so I basically turned my camera off the whole time because you're not allowed to film I didn't know that actually when I maybe they said it I don't know I didn't hear but yeah basically I turned my camera off until now and I decided because I didn't know where I could and couldn't film in the city that I was in and I didn't want to risk like filming a military building by accident so I was like okay instead of looking for the bus and making a video I was like all right I'm just gonna take an Uber so our good man right here again brother nice to meet you brother and so he's actually taken us about two and a half hours by us I mean me and the backpack here along with all my stuff up to uh the beautiful city of Darjeeling so it's a really really beautiful ride so far the first 20 minutes coming out there was just military everywhere so I just didn't even pull out my camera until now because yeah anyways it was just like uh you know City Vibes over there anyways so now we're coming through here looks like we've got some tolls here what's gonna look yeah I was just in Assam so I speak Assamese dada so far so yeah guys uh basically I've been speaking Awesomes in the last few videos so I need to switch over to uh you speak Bengali Bengali yeah Bengali Yeah Yeah so basically I need to uh start practicing some words in the local language I know a little bit of Hindi I know a little bit of Assamese now and now I need to learn a little bit of Bengali so we shall see guys I'm gonna share with you the road all the way up we're going up into the mountains this is actually a really interesting place because it has a lot of similarities in terms of the Landscapes to Nepal and want to know why because we are literally like 20 minutes or so from the border of Nepal maybe a few more than that let's see if I can show you guys right there so yeah we're in this little like almost like land bridge between Bangladesh and uh Nepal right there and that is the state of West Bengal right here that we're on where we're going in Darjeeling is basically like uh Darjeeling is still in West Bengal but it's like the I guess furthest point in West Bengal that's like a known City and then above that sakim which is another like very beautiful state in India to explore so yeah guys we're cruising up and uh this is the neighborhood we're driving through right now it's uh very similar architecture to what I saw when I was in like kind of the mountains in poker on agricult area in Nepal I'm seeing like the same colors the same sort of vibe here if you disagree with me well that's just uh this is just what I'm visually seeing the similarities but obviously once we get to know this place we're going to be able to share with you a bunch more of unique Parts about what makes this part of India so special so Charlie cello my friends oh look at these views hello West Bengals this is gorgeous my friends just lush green trees everywhere and beautiful mountains and landscapes Siliguri down there city of silly Guru up to the Nepal border yeah it's Nepal straight that way wow that's incredible just made a quick pit stop right up here oh we got some traffic going on at the Roma Cafe so our good man here is going to take us up so how do we get to see the views over there there's a way to get up normal Scott we got views back here I can go back here yeah oh good don't you what all right beautiful views up up top there all right let's go let's check this place out we got the rooftop living right up here no more score what Nepali and Nepal over there yeah on the other side yeah wow that's cool um nearby which one is that Corso yeah yeah of course you're right up top there uh that is and this is uh it's cool uh Saint Anthony Saint Anthony uh the red one okay very nice valve yeah this is nice guys there's a bunch of like stop off places like this cafes all along these roads I'll tell you these roads have so many twists and turns because we're climbing up the mountain so it's basically like from uh every which direction there are views of different like uh landscape designs I mean we've got some farmlands there we've got some tea Farms there and look at these massive bamboos right here just growing right out of there just a beautiful thing we got a little cat here meow meow meow meow meow all right back to the car here busy day we got the local school bus all the school children all right back to the uh to the car yep all right we are on the road again and these roads are tight so we just had a bus coming through here and the traffic and let me tell you the traffic slows down because as you can see we've got a drop-off point right there with the guardrails luckily and then right here we have locals cruising around here and so it looks like the vehicles on the left side go a little bit slower there you gotta pass them to uh gain speed and how far how many minutes till we get there brother one hour okay one and a half hours till we get to Darjeeling my friend so probably a lot more twists and turns up into the mountains on our way there and look at these views right here wow coming up what city is this City mushroom oh that's the one right there we saw from another viewpoints before that's how high we've climbed up into these mountains we've got the toy train line on the other side it goes all the way to Darjeeling does the toy train go to Darjeeling or no yeah other way Joyride Joyride up and down and it runs it's daily daily every day yeah every day wow core sound oh the railway station so this is it right here maybe we're gonna take that later it's a small little toy train around here and look at this we're in the busyness of the Mountain City it seems like everyone's getting out of school at this time gorgeous views you can just see the sun shining down on the mountains as we go through all these little Villages just such a unique place to be driving through yeah as I explore like so many different parts of India it's just so drastically different from Kerala to Jason desert to Eastern India to up here in the mountains which makes it so fascinating to explore all right it looks like we're only eight kilometers from Darjeeling let's go and there's the train right over there it's a little just a little baby toy train right there wow it's so small yeah guys you best believe we're gonna be taking you on that end uh the next couple days here [Music] what is it um and look at these little toy trains right there wow that is so cool it's like a miniature train this is my dream guys I'm obsessed with trains I Love Trains there goes the train over there there it is oh my God that's so cool [Music] we're jumping from one side to the other guys just so we can get all these shots of the train [Music] is it we're gonna have a lot of fun going all the way with our dealing just this quaint mountain town of about 118 000 people I believe is the population and it's just got such a cool vibe to it just such a just an interesting place I'm still wrapping my head around how to describe it but I love it it's just so wild to see a train that runs through this whole area you know wow and the train wraps all the way around here uh Darjeeling right here this is it so this is our first look into Darjeeling wow we'll have some views right up here yeah look at this guys this is Darjeeling wow incredibly beautiful place nowhere it looks like we're hitting a little bit of that Darjeeling traffic right there coming in Namaste good all right well yeah the train even comes here like it stretches all along here I mean for the last like two hours we've been driving there's train tracks everywhere namaskar all right well this is exciting my friends this is going to be a fun part of the video series I mean already exploring guwahati kaziranga has been fun but like this is just a different a whole different experience now being up in the mountains so my friends we are now getting into like the center of Darjeeling this is actually The Darjeeling train station you can see all the little trains right there there's actually way more of them than I would have expected but it's such a cute little Railway I mean look at how small this is we're gonna have so much fun going on that exploring going for a cruise I mean I love this I mean the uh the trains are small this little platform's like you know it's just so small it's awesome though I love this place already and there it is I heart DHR and there's a little train car that I guess is turned into a cafe we're for sure going there and I think this is a temple right here Marketplace this is something else the ride brother a nice two and a half hour ride roughly yeah all right [Music] you need a that lace type all right I think it's hotel Yuma that I'm going to but it's it's like on the app it says it's a Homestay so get directions right here and it seems like walk so we are here looks like this is where we're staying Hotel Yuma Hotel Yuma all right we have arrived and this is it wow this is a nice vibe namaskar and it is just shining all right we have made it just in time Hotel Yuma that's it yeah perfect you have a booking uh yes sir name's a Mac candy sorry uh Mac candy m-a-c and then last name uh yesterday unbooking.com booking.com [Music] we've got the luxury or Comfort rooms I don't know what yep guys I guess I'm at the wrong place there's a place called Yuma D Homestay which I don't know the address brought me here so I guess it's somewhere down here [Music] home stays up here okay sure sure [Music] foreign okay so it's a bit of a secret place to get to I see all right private beware of dogs and here we go all right now this is looking more like the Homestay up here oh nice Garden done your bud brother thank you namaskar hello brother nice to meet you sir oh perfect so it's the same things I don't know are you in the right place okay let's go yeah this is Homestay oh perfect ah thank you brother we're not Mac a Mac yeah yes it is yes that's right yep are you on water oh yes please a long journey all the way from guwahati no yes brother so my friends we admitted to the Homestay right at the top of the hotel and I'm out of breath a good man's gonna get us some uh water and we're getting checked in take care of my friends thank you so much you want one more oh duh yeah yes please very thirsty thank you yep if the weather is clear tomorrow oh really full range out here that's incredible all along here like it's been a week the mountain is not visible oh okay Cloud rather clouds staying there yeah clears up you get the full range you'll make a video a day oh that's really nice if tomorrow if not day after tomorrow morning it'll clear up oh perfect thank you so much we got all these nice flowers oh that's nice and you're a good name one more time my name is nice to meet you there us guys I'm gonna tell you this right now already in the first you can always judge in a an impression off someone in the first couple minutes has been giving me this is incredible experience oh no not live not live but uh seems like uh like we have two category of room one is Super Deluxe one is Deluxe uh standard Deluxe that's 2500 rupees per room and this is this this is upstairs anytime you want you know like you can go out here I'll show you perfect this is the I gave you the key oh yep thank you you can come over here sir all right yeah this is so cool it's my first time staying in a Homestay okay so like this is it oh cool yeah and like you can assess that part and that's the view room where you get it beautiful oh wow a nice place for a cup of coffee in the morning wow especially at night when the lights are on the day beautiful mountain yeah the mountains over here look at this my friends you can see all these views of Darjeeling here oh we even pop it open hello Darjeeling wow guys we're gonna have a lot of fun exploring this place so cool and yeah this Homestay is such a good time here we've got a pool table out out here A bunch of looks like Lounge areas a little bar spot down there very nice very well decorated yeah it's incredible like you can sit out here and sit tea coffee I love that yeah thank you so much how long have you guys been open uh the home state has been two and a half years two and a half years wow amazing 30 years 30 years okay was this someone's home before Oh this is like I was our men home oh your main Homie we shifted our best to Siliguri yeah yeah so in between I came up me and my wife yeah my parents there I feel really pissed oh very nice okay this was our family home oh that's amazing only me and my wife we reside out here our kids yeah Australia studying out there okay so lots of yeah lots of sports so what to do with that so we started a home station that's amazing very amazing thank you for telling me okay please relax I give like the WhatsApp international number so we can communicate only so I think so perfect what's up all right that sounds great thank you so so much so you guys we're back in the room here it's so cool they set up the towels almost like starfish or stars or Turtles however you'd want to call them and the outlets looks like they have the universal adapter Outlets which is awesome shows they get a lot of international guests here looks like we've got some items to eat on the menu here beverages breakfast lunch and dinner and a nice closet space a TV and then here's the bathroom just with so much natural light coming in just look at the sun going down this is so beautiful my friends that is incredible hey look at this just the Silhouettes of the mountains wow I love you already Darjeeling we're gonna have some fun together aren't we there cheating and oh I even missed it right down here a little coffee station with uh looks like tea coffee and water so that's awesome guys I'm gonna get freshen up and then we're gonna head straight into town no time to waste all right the time to get ready took a little bit longer than expected my friends ended up relaxing for a little bit but now we're heading into the town bad news is the sun has gone down so I got my handy dandy flashlight and hello brother I'm going out uh the main shorter the hotel shuttle it gets shut at 10 30 p.m 10 30 okay so be back 10 30. okay this will be open till our last guest is in okay that gate is out of my controls okay 10 30. 10 30. no problem I'll probably be back much sooner than that if okay everything is up yeah just straight up the traffic Outpost yeah that traffic Outpost is too many perfect I'm here till day it's 10 minutes for you you're young and dashing eight minutes for you eight minutes all right down here bud see you in a bit yeah all right thank you bye all right my friends we've got until 10 30 and I want to say it's like 7 30 now sunsets here slightly later than go ahati I want to see like six tenants set and then a little light still probably was apparent until maybe 6 30. that's it [Music] and my friends it is time to head into Darjeeling we've got about yeah probably at the speed I walked maybe even seven minutes to get us from here in I don't even know what area I'm staying in because I don't know Darjeeling but where my hotel is oh yeah we got some traffic coming through we've got about uh eight minute walk to get up there but I bet I can do it in like seven or six minutes at the speed I walk with a massive stride so we're gonna head down this way and see can probably turn the light off now we're getting into some more bright more lit up areas oh yeah I gotta find myself an ATM but once I do I'm for sure stopping to get one of these jackets because let me tell you at night it is cold and the jacket I'm wearing is literally equivalent to like a long sleeve shirt all right yeah it looks like it is getting more populous this way more people on foot oh it just snuck right up there must be a hybrid all right we're making good timing walking at this speed seems like the prices are pretty reasonable as I'm walking by and looking at some like 25 rupees it looks like for a scarf they're 250 rupees and Darjeeling is like a really big tourist town so a lot of like domestic tourism and a lot of international tourism as well yeah I think specifically in the Guesthouse I'm staying at there's a Vietnamese person there is I want to see another American an Indian person and another us person coming so just very much uh mixed uh cultures coming to see the beautiful Darjeeling but I am starving right now something smells good it smells kind of like a carnival or like a theme park that type of like food oh look at this we have no Branch at rink Mall beware of being misguided by deception oh well that must have been such a good scam that they made a sign for it all right good news is we found an SBI which means I can get cash be right back my friends all right I think we are almost to the center because like the amount of people walking out here has doubled I was able to stop at the SB ATM got some cash so that means we're gonna be eating tonight because I was literally out of cash completely which it's not a good thing when you're traveling all right and looks like they've got a bunch more uh big hotels up here we got Ramada we've got Declan hotel and all right I think I would assume this way is where all of the uh no mascara I would assume this way is where all of the uh tourists are gone but we shall see we shall see oh looks like we've even got a little market going on over here yeah all right my friends and welcome to Mall Road this is intense so as I don't remember if I recorded this or not but the guide at the Homestay was saying basically that everyone in the evening after they get back from touring all over this area they are coming to this mall area to kind of just spend the evening shop probably find some food somewhere but as you can see there's just markets on markets on markets we've got scars we've got food we've got so many things looks like they have coffee custom bracelets over there let's say Darjeeling oh it looks like this is the good content over here right brother namaskar I'm is this the place to get the good content yeah what are you guys uh selling here yeah oh that's nice all right well when you're done with content that it's the most go-to but I've seen it during the day so that's when I'm gonna go maybe I'll go another night uh at night but the first time I'm gonna go I for sure want the day experience doing it so it looks like we hit a bit of a traffic jam right here it's crazy the uh the whole Mall Road right here it stretches so far man I've been walking probably for like strolling you know stopping at stores things like that for probably 10-15 minutes already and there are so many things all right what do we got here some fresh shirts it's like he didn't get the scarf he wanted we'll say Darjeeling is much busier than the touristy places I was just in in Assam all right what's your name it's even hard to almost see what's going on over here but it looks like a bunch of furry sweaters that is something that looks like a nice Vibe at the moment what are we making here some sort of food item yeah all right so we've made it up to the square here I am definitely going to come back through this place during the daytime as well do a proper like shopping and everything because obviously when I'm working with the low light stuff it's a bit harder to uh see me over here and so yeah there are a lot of places we're gonna come back this is just the first night my friends first night to get the Impressions and we are going to check it out all right golden tips Darjeeling we got a mall Market down this way this looks Epic so I think it's just like a long stretch of more of a narrow pathway on Marketplace yeah oh they sell these little plants right up there oh they're making fresh corn on the cob right here oh yeah oh that's nice and warm too no mascara yes one piece please oh oh that's nice we're warming up the fingers right now much needed let me tell you this coming from guwahati it was not like this it is cold up here gotta get myself a nice uh it's uh it's cold here it's cold here uh yeah I did not prepare properly only packed this skinny little uh jacket but yeah they make some fresh corn on the cob here looks like we're rubbing some sort of like salt on it salt maybe a mixed spice oh look at that thing smoking um fantastic so it looks like they cook pretty fast too I mean they're sitting right there on those charcoals [Music] [Music] [Music] oh it looks like we even put a little uh lime on that too okay very delicious and lime too oh yes please in my body or something but that's like exactly what I wanted and the lime gives it a good zing and then 40 or 50 rupees good price too look at how busy it is here but it's a nice little snack there you know wow I had one of these I can't remember somewhere else maybe in Tanzania and it was not made as good this is like fresh delicious enjoy brother oh he didn't hear me assistant that is great d-e-c-h-economy and what language is your channel in uh it's a combination of Nepali and English Nepali in English Okay okay I know a little bit foreign for me to get for a nice souvenir then oh yeah fridge magnets are always a good one then is there a deal going on like three for a special price 60 rupees okay perfect so this looks like a nice one Darjeeling and tea Farms here right yes and then this one's the train so this is another one of the most popular things that people come to see and then what about this one is this a Viewpoint oh okay so I probably should buy all three then yeah all right so that's gonna be how much for all three hole foreign how's my Nepali Language good yeah where are you from United States but I I made a full video series in Nepal so the travel videos yeah looks like this Market gets pretty busy but we're getting close to closing time it looks like here everyone's starting to pack up and look at this they put them in this massive I guess like a clothing sack well this place really stretches for so long we got umbrellas oh jackets over here oh okay it looks like they've got some Nike jackets Calvin Klein jackets nice to meet you thank you yeah good to here because last thing I want is to get sick from not being uh dressed up in enough clothing so I'm gonna snap my fingers and then by the time I slap them we're gonna be back on the other side here we go three two one all right as I'm walking through this area I can tell you there's a lot more that there's meant to explore but I'm going to save it for later and just get ourselves one maybe final street food over here Mosey my way right down this Alleyway and then I will tell you when I wake up bright and early tomorrow I am motivated to explore as much of Darjeeling as possible tomorrow so little bit I gotta mix languages I've been I've been to Nepal so I I visit Nepal so I know a little Nepali look at that thing yes please oh look at that thing oh that's gonna be spicy better get those taste buds ready oh yeah oh yeah a little cheesy can never go wrong with cheese [Music] okay perfect guys camera shut off right in the middle of there when I was getting the food but uh let me tell you it was 60 rupees and I I gave the guy a small tip on top of that but it overheated so the GoPro missed all that footage good news is I didn't start eating yet so we're gonna go ahead and test this bad boy out it's made spicy so I think my mouth's gonna be on fire whoa okay that's extremely spicy spicy but very delicious I'll tell you egg rolls stay consistently my favorite food in India that is good and this one is made with its own special twist to it we've got a bunch of different sauces in there vegetables and it is just hitting the spot let me tell you that this is dinner in a nutshell my friends I could eat these every single night I probably had like 10 egg rolls since I've arrived and let me put it this way I'm gonna have a lot more before I leave and it's great you just grab one from the street vendor and then you can just stroll right here through the streets and it's such a good time I'm loving Darjeeling hello I'm gonna use some of my awesome music Darjeeling Darjeeling zindabad Whoa We got some dogs having fun right there what's going on over there oh my god get a room get a room had that guy laughing oh Posh Bakery and Cafe we've got chocolate muffins there oh my friends as much as I know I shouldn't have a dessert those smells are pulling me in this direction well we first got to finish off this delicious egg roll before we move on to the next meal yeah let me tell you that is freaking delicious wow I love these things and my friends we have just taken down the entire egg roll oh my God Heaven is an understatement we've got some sort of desserts right here Namaste oh Donuts in there Namaste oh look at that down there chocolate donut all right sneak through here brother donnybud oh cool let's see what we got going on ice creams over here probably going to want to get something freshly baked Namaste brother choco balls how are the chocolate balls good yeah bones and what's inside of them um oh chocolate uh so you recommend it perfect two days no no how much uh uh 20 rupees okay can I have uh two please yes please uh to eat now please on the chocolate mousse yeah that was a good one brother and looks like we even had some chocolates down there in the shape of the vinyl in is it um I might have to come back here in the morning to try out one of the donuts because that thing is calling my name [Music] and that choco moves is the choco almost good too yeah it's good okay I'll try one of those too please brother yeah one of those and I'll have that here too now what language do you speak here Nepali Nepali okay I know I know a little whipped cream and some sort of chocolate balls right there well when it's warm [Music] I'll sit right there brother wow that is delicious incredible my friends the chocolate just melts right in your mouth [Music] I was just in Assam speaking awesome me so I'm switching languages now to Nepali it's hard to remember we go brother oh my gosh that thing was so freaking delicious I could have eaten like uh 10 of those but that means I'll be coming back here multiple times and um I just gotta get a photo of this all right we're going for a nice little bite of this one now too my friends to try it out let's actually see if we can set this thing right there all right oh we're just gonna dig right in there and look at that more chocolate just mixed in let's try it out um [Music] oh yeah don't this is the branch you gotta come to you it's literally like a cake in a cup which is incredible you know because sometimes you want a piece of cake but you don't want to buy the whole cake if you're just by yourself like me so you come in here you get a cup and you get the right amount of cake hmm they'll put you to bed at the end of the night [Music]
