If so, what was your experience? Leave a comment Flight time from Male to Soneva Secret is 75 minutes (a stop-over is made at Soneva Fushi along the way) All pilots in the Maldives are commercially trained and they fly the plane with bare feet or flipflops (so cool!) A seaplane flight in the Maldives is a breathtaking journey as it offers some of the most incredible views in the world The first part of the flight crosses the North Male Atoll - home to the airport and capital city Male - which consists of 50 islands The first hotel in the Maldives opened in the North Male Atoll in 1972 and had only 30 rooms The seaplane is flying over the famous One&Only Reethi Rah Resort, located on the outer edge of the North Male Atoll We're making a stop-over at Soneva Fushi to drop some guests Soneva Fushi is regarded as the first luxury hotel in the Maldives, setting of the trend of luxury holidays in the nation Opened in 1995, Soneva Fushi is still one of the Maldives' best resorts, blending ultra-luxury with environmental responsibility Welcome to Soneva Fushi International Airport, probably the tiniest airport in the world The stop-over at Soneva Fushi takes only 5 minutes The plane takes off at short distance from the resort as not to disturb the guests on the island Here we go again ... We get a spectacular view of Soneva Fushi after takeoff Soneva Fushi is located in the Baa Atoll Baa, a designated UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve The Baa Atoll is home to 1200 fish species, including manta rays, sharks, and an abundance of sea turtles and dolphins The Baa Atoll consists of 75 islands of which 13 are inhabited with a population of over 11,000 people Two luxury resorts can be seen in the distance: Anantara Kihavah Villas and Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru As the seaplane leaves the Baa Atoll, the Maldives' next atoll - the Raa Atoll - comes into view Surfers and sailors flock to Raa Atoll for its excellent surf spots and idyllic sailing routes We get a nice view of Joali Being Resort from the air This is Joali Maldives, the sister resort of Joali Being We're leaving the Raa Atoll and now head towards the Haa Dhaalu Atoll, the most remote atoll in the Maldives We get our first glimpse of Soneva Secret, the Maldives' most exclusive resort Soneva Secret is located in the bluest lagoon I've ever seen The only resort in the Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Soneva Secret is set on Dhipparufushi Island at the westernmost tip of the Maldives Soneva Secret features only 14 water & island villas; each villa comes with a dedicated team of three (including a butler & chef) This is how the landing looks like from the cockpit ... From the landing site, it's 5 min by speedboat to the resort The resort staff is waiting for us on the beach (it feels like a scene from the White Lotus, only the real version)
