am looking forward to talking to persons about writing and you know I really love the fact that you've had a passion for writing you've really developed a lot of the your your skills over time with helping others uh refine their writing skills and so forth you know so so tell me about that what have you found as some of those um learning lessons you've gathered from helping others with their writing skills so I think the most important thing is that that criticism I know sometimes when persons right they think it's the best piece out and at times you don't want to share with someone because you think they're gonna change your whole story or they're gonna change your perspective I think you could let the person know the expectations what are the things that you want to keep but definitely also be open to understandings and New Opportunities about your peace yeah excellent you know so today we also want to remind persons that how do you get the best out of these webinar we know a lot of times you're busy and you may want to ensure that you get your reminders and that's the case if that's the case you need to make sure that you join the group join the webinar as well so four sessions to one lucky person three consultations that we will discuss your social media marketing strategy your brand strategy your content strategy towards really helping you build that voice and that brand towards your product your business your service that you're offering to the members of the public and that is valued at 750 US dollars excellent so all you've got to do is go to Latoya's Facebook page and I'm going to share that in the group right now and once you get to the page you will see the live feed from today just go on that live feed and you will just post the #l-r-t-s media on that post and at the end of the webinar Latoya will be giving away some Consulting service in addition to that she will be giving away some discounts on some of our other services as well so you have nothing really to lose there just go place that hashtag and you can do so in addition to that Vivid consultancy group is going to be giving away a Hospitality website with three website to get more details about that package but for you to Simply win this all you got to do is go to the website that I'm going to share right now which is Win Hospitality tools.com there's a little windhospitality tools.com and you can simply register and and enter to win a free Hospitality website so now that that's out of the way we want to definitely talk to you about our two sessions we're going to be doing very briefly and if you have any questions feel free to ask it in the comments if we don't answer it live today we will definitely look at answering some of those questions or you could join the group as well and we could answer those questions there so Latoya I'm going to put you in a backstage for a few minutes and I'm going to bring you back out but we're gonna be looking at why do I recommend to write what you love and is it that should this just be the only thing that you're considering if you're going to be writing and but I'm making a presumption you probably run a business maybe you have your website and your business is there to sell maybe you're doing tours you are Hospitality provider maybe you are a travel agent some you're a restaurant you just want to sell why am I going through the hustle of writing beyond the things that I want to sell above so there are some reasons why you may want to invest in doing a little bit more than just writing about what you're selling which involves doing a Blog sharing insights sharing some things about what you are um what you're passionate about so there's some positive about doing a Blog for your even as a Hospitality provider so what are some of the benefits here not going to go into a lot there are a lot of them but I want to highlight three number one is going to help build your brand awareness if you are writing about something in your Niche and you're able to share and answer questions for someone let's assume you are a hotel and you do weddings at your property there are so much questions people have about wedding especially if it's a destination wedding do they need to get a justice of a piece or a pastor can I do it on the beach or you know do I need to do it in a church what are the registration do I need to sign anything before I do it you know how much time do I need to be in a country for me to be able to have a wedding at your property all these are questions persons might have now let's assume they're trying to find these answers and you answer those questions in a wonderful blog as you spoke about the things you love about weddings and destination weddings and why you choose to start hosting destination weddings at your property but you've answered here you need to make sure you're in the country seven days before you need to make sure you get these um signed properties involved you need to make sure that you have your state how are you hosting your guests are you do you need catering these are things you should consider if you're doing catering on the on the particular property or on the island or in the particular state that you're doing all these are valuable information and your brand recognition is taking place because you're really answering person's question what do you think they're going to consider if you've already shown you have a total understanding of all the things that's necessary for a destination way and you will happen to offer the service connect the dots they will feel much more comfortable taking that service from you another thing to it creates a personal connection between your story and the guest story now if this is something you're already passionate about and that's where we also spoke now last um webinars is about finding your Niche assuming you're into an eco-friendly type of environment maybe you're into bird watching maybe you have a lot of birds on your property as well and if this is a someone that's a bird watcher or and you talk about the different birds that are unique to your destination you talk about the birds in your rainforest that are close by and so forth and they are connecting with your story as someone that loves Birds that connection is going to tie into your business and last but not least all these things leads to just more sales so they are just a natural benefit to having a Blog and just one of the things I didn't mention here it's a great way to get organic traffic what does that mean most persons if you want to really Drive traffic to your page and so forth you might find yourself having to spend money to pay for ads to get it in front of person's face but if you write a blog that answers a question that is still relevant that block could be there five years ten years as long as the information is still relevant and persons are still finding that information without you spending a cent except for hosting your website and those costs is not compared to having to spend something hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on maybe Facebook advertising or things like that so there's just a lot of value in terms of just having your own blog so why did I say you should write about what you love and this should not be taken in isolation the reality is let's say you're writing about something you love but you're not really good at it they're things that you love to do but you're not very good I love to sing but my wife could tell you I probably wouldn't leave my day job and become a singer so I may need to consider something else but at the same time can you make money from this is there is there some value in doing this particular thing so as much as you love a lot of things it's important that you write down let's say it's in your niche and there's three things you want to consider and imagine doing a Venn diagram and you write the things that you love you write the things that you're proficient in you love them and you're good at it as well as can you make money from this or is it associated in some way to your business that is tied to our Revenue stream if there is something that intersects these three things it's probably an ideal area for you to focus to write about because if it's something that don't really brings you any Joy eventually you're going to just be writing words and it's not going to mean anything it's not going to connect with anyone so when you really find something that you love that you're good at and I could make you money there is where you could start seeing a few things number one is going to bring you Joy irrespective of where you start out you may not get a lot of views in the beginning it may not bring you a lot of traffic but because you just love writing about this particular topic it's like one of those things you would have done for free and you would see that if you're talking to your friends about something you're just passionate about you will be finding yourself talking about it for hours you're going on and on and no one can stop you that's that's when you're finding your joy about the topic you're writing about your blogging about maybe you're blogging about it depending on what's you know your strength like here you know so you may not necessarily do a lot of writing but you could also transition that into maybe a podcast or even a or or a vlog that you might do on YouTube or so on similar context but you still need to make sure you prepare your content but it will bring you a level of Joy the next thing is it allows you to be original which there are millions of blogs now out there so what's gonna make you different when you're finding something that you're passionate about and you start put your unique perspective to it it really gives you an opportunity to stand out from the crowd you just don't want to be mimicking everything that you're out there you may look and see other blocks a good you want to do your research read a lot of the information that's already there and then see what do you have to add to this conversation what can you take from your perspective your love for this particular topic something that just didn't got mentioned here that you could Infuse into the topic while you still make sure you're answering the question you're answering the information persons want but you're able to make it unique and add your perspective into that topic as well and be yourself it is so the world has been created as telling you you need to look a particular way you need to dress a particular way you need to act a certain way to be successful people will eventually see through that it's important for you to be authentic if this is who you are lean into it and you will connect with your tribe when you're able to do so you don't need to pretend you don't need to be wearing one face in front of the guest on another face you know when you're behind the scenes it's it's great for you to be able to let your hair down and to be able to relax and connect with the people that's going to be passionate about what you're doing and your business when they understand that this is your vision this is your you know the passion that you have for this particular topic and this is coming out in your business this is not something that's separate to your business this is your business you this is your life this is why you're doing this if it is that you're going to be running a particular property that you have no identified that this is going to be my focus this isn't going to be the way I want my Pro this is the type of guess I want on property then you lean into that and you write about that as people see and connect with what you're writing about it will draw persons in right and most importantly be honest now it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to just bear your soul and tell people all the things that's not necessary but at the same time you want to be authentic with people you want persons to know this is where it is if your property is catering for a particular type of customer be honest about it if you're not going to be taking pets be upfront about it and say this is the reason what whatever the case may be and if it is that you you know thinking I'm going to isolate persons because of that that might happen but at the end of the day you will draw persons in that is that's going to be Keen to that if you love pets then Embrace that and then don't necessarily if you're going to have person that comes in that might be allergic to pets then you need to be upfronted hey this is a pet friendly environment you know it may not suit you if it is that you have allergies to Fat so you have a problem with pets just be honest in terms of Who You Are what you're going to be offering don't portray one thing online you took some photos of about your property that is 20 years old it was when you just launch your property your paint was just beautiful now the the orange that is there is a pale peach or something that doesn't reflect what people are seeing that's a form of dishonesty you know take some time to update the photography let people know this is what it is right now maybe it's a it's a rustic type of environment maybe it's a little bit more you know natural feeling and it doesn't have that type of new stain feel someone may be looking for that they may want to have a relaxed environment that doesn't have them feeling like if they touch something it's going to break and they're going to have to pay for it you will be surprised that person will appreciate you for who you are just be honest with them all right so other types of things you want to consider now spend some time creating the content and stop trying to be perfect there's a lot of times as content creators we want everything to be right so we we're writing or we're creating something and we just want to tweak everything but you know if you need that tweaking and you're just worried about it call it you give your second opinion and have you stop stressing about if you're doing the right thing right so stop stressing trying to be perfect have a vision as well you want to have a vision that pulls you forward you know you want to know where you're going so in that way even though you may not get there immediately how I always believe you should have a grand vision of yourself you may be you should be aspiring for something awesome even though you're starting at one have a sense of where you want to go are you running a property and right now you just have a single pool maybe you have a vision to have jacuzzis at each station and have that vision and work towards it so that as you write as you create content it it should be inspiring to people in terms of what you want to do do you have a passion to change the world talk about it in and even if you're going to take a dollar or two dollars out of what you get every day to contribute to that Vision there's going to be someone that's going to connect with that passion that you have or that goal you have to save the world or to or to feed the poor to empower young people or so on even within your day-to-day activity having that vision for what you want I think is a really important thing and last but not least ignore the haters they're going to be people no matter what you do no matter what you write that's going to just hate your color they're gonna hate the way you write they're going to hate the voice they're gonna come on to your page you're gonna say crap and they're gonna leave you just got to ignore it maybe you might have to delete a comment you could re-sponsor it you could move on but whatever you do don't take it personal just create your content you have a message for the world let them have it all right so that's just a few tips for me and in terms of writing with your lover and and with your writing what you love you will eventually you know love what you write all right so that's the few tips I have for you if you have any questions for me you can put it in the comments or we could definitely uh answer it after Catherine thank you for joining us and you know definitely you you want to take some of that I'm just going to bring in Latoya um so Latoya I'm going to be bringing in your slides I know you have some valuable content to share about how to determine your brand voice yes and it's definitely going to be a hard app to follow after you right not at all you I always save the best for last so I'm gonna go into backstage and you're gonna take it away very well so you know for the last 10 minutes or so your brand voice and sometimes people not too sure exactly what is their brand voice and that's okay organizations actually change their brand voice over time but somebody thinks that you could consider that could make a party brand voices your values the mission of your organization what content you value how you're going to include technology and whatever you're doing your vision and definitely also visuals and this session is going to be really practical with a few case studies just to see what other companies are doing and see how you could probably learn from them Etc so let's go we can skip all about me because you know a bit about me from those who joined last time for me I spent maybe about 10 years or so focusing on media Communications and also social entrepreneurship I live with a Manchester you know living local but thinking Global and I work with a lot of international organizations so what is your brand voice that's a really important question but it's very difficult because all these bubbles kind of represent different things that you can say or how you can react to certain things and especially when it comes to businesses the brand voice could be many things you might be having sales on so you have your only hundred dollars going on but there are times when you want to be a bit more out of character with oh my god oh um emojis or you might be angry your brand voice is whatever personality you want to ascribe to your business and all those different bubbles represent different ways that it could be represented but at the end of the day um you need to understand that as an organization as a company you will want to narrow down between you know what is your voice and what is your tune and the voices that overall personality that goes with your organization most times and a good organization that created a good voice will try to be consistent and try to be unchanging you may change in terms of your tone but your overall voice will remain the same so the tone then is a bit of emotional inflections that will apply so at times there might be humorous about this one item or one activity um in in your form at the point in time or the event that you're planning and it is adjusted to the particular message it might be Mother's Day so it might be romantic about a post as opposed to when it comes to Independence Day you might be patriotic about the post Etc so the tone may change according to what you're trying to to really communicate in the messaging at the point in time but at the end of the day your overall company voice should still be consistent and stand for one thing and I'll I'll explain that further so a lot of organizations will actually if you go to a consultant and you tell them that you want to decide on a brand voice your organization they will show you a chat and they will look at different characteristics because at the end of the day your company has a personality of its own and it is ascribed different human characteristics that you will see emanate when your company speaks when your um company do activities engage with the public Etc so they will tell you this this is just an example of what a brand voice chat might look like but there are different other voices so they might tell you what is the what is the main characteristic of that voice then they might tell you what it entails what it might look like and then they will give you advice on things that you should do or don't do according to the voice that you want to emanate at the point in time so for example if you believe you are a very authentic original indigenous service that that that speaks about Traditional Values Etc you will want to stick to the originality of your product you'll want to stick to keywords you'll want to be honest and direct about what your project is what your product is offering and um you may not necessarily want to use marketing jargons because if this product is always called this name you don't want to change it depends on the trends and patterns you may not want to over promise on anything because you just want to be authentic and real and you tend to focus on the value ascribed to that product rather than probably somebody overselling the capabilities of the of the product so that is just one example of how a brand voice might might be constructed for organization so case studies fun time because you're going we're going quickly Wendy's I don't know how much of your look at Wendy's on social media for example but Wendy is very witty very humorous their personality is very loud and it really tries to catch you most times when you look at where this tweet you will just you'll just laugh and you'll Rule and that is a personality that they have ascribed to the organization and it works to them so when these always have some of the funniest memes out really funky Graphics really interesting comebacks against the different competitors for whatever product Etc they're selling and that is a voice that when these have been portraying over the past few years Apple when you think about Apple keywords come to mind authentic you think about the experience you think about high-end you think about that relationship when somebody has an Apple product versus the others you know you think about a certain culture and Prestige that goes with it so those are characteristics that they have put together so when you see a new Apple video comes out for whatever new product they're launching you you get that feeling when you see apple give up put out a post about how unique and exclusive but simple and user friendly their devices you understand what they're talking about that is that again how they created that brand voice Red Bull I don't know how much of you all ever like focus on Red Bull marketing videos or you look at the um Red Bull Facebook page it's always about adrenaline excitement being courageous being outgoing been very hyper and energetic so when you look at their page it's very loud it really attracts you and it just gives you a busy feeling of keep going keep moving and that is the personality and the brand voice that is attached there let's do something local Machel Montano has transformed show the years yes but he's not a point where he has his Monte music and that that has a whole new vibe to it and and that is that is an interesting way how he met how he has grown as an artist within the industry but now is speaking with a voice of maturity a very original and authentic divined product that that speaks to him and his personal growth and his personality he also speaks a bit about spiritualism and Oneness and knowing what he's about he also speaks about wisdom and being a guru at that idea and that package that he's selling and lastly because we're speaking about Hospitality we also want to focus on like certain hotels around the Caribbean certain ones when you see them and they pop out you think luxury you think relaxation you think top of the line service you think about an authentic tourism experience and Sanders Resort is one night stands out and funny enough even though Sanders is one brand they have different segments so the beaches Resort is more family oriented so you get a feeling of fun and excitement and children friendly with it as opposed to Sanders that talks about honeymoon and romance and marriage so you see the different things and it's really good if you could Define your product so that one person's seat when they see that voice when they hear you speak about what you're offering they're sure about what the brand voice means for the for the company so in closing I just want to let you know that you know the brand voice the brand is a voice and the product is a souvenir and this is a really really interesting quote that I came about because it lets me know that when you hear a brand it speaks to you and when it speaks to you then it encourages you to buy the product or the service associated with it and that is like a take homework Keepsake that comes with it but most authentic customers most customers who fall in love with a company fall in love with what they're often really fall in love with the brand Foods the whole encompassing voice of that business and then once you fall in love with that brand you will be willing to um purchase or be a part of any service or any product and that is the takeaway that is what you take home as a souvenir but you really want to know that that brand and that voice that sells the product what it means to you and what it means as a customer when you see that brand when you see that voice you can recognize it and you will always be loyal to the product and the services that comes with it after and that is my presentation today short and sweet all in a nutshell but it's really important take your time mapulture brand voice look at the chart see which one works best for you depends on the industry that you're in for a lot of persons that are in tourism and Hospitality um industry you want a voice that talks about Hospitality customer service it talks about selflessness always serving always willing to give you want a voice that will speak about comforting experiences you want a voice I will speak about passion or romance you want a voice I will speak about authenticity those are the kind of things that you might be looking for in your brand voice within this industry I will turn over back to you does all right um thank you so much I I am I muted can you hear me no you're not mutually all right just want to make sure all right so thank you so much Victoria for joining us today you again I told you I saved the best for last I can't ask you know say enough about the the value that you bring now if someone
