Los Angeles ~ First In & Out, Randy Donuts, 1901 Trolley, Neon Wall & The Santa Monica Pier!
good morning everyone how are ya this is awesome i just uh pulled another u-turn because these california residents they have a giant gumby though they have more on the other side over here they got pokey gumby and pokey classic this is two decades before my time actually uh in 1960s i think it was some of that stop-motion type cartoon stuff but for some reason we had little bendable gumby and pokey figures when i was growing up as well and uh this homeowner has the right idea i love it it's very quirky also like any other california place where there's a drought and you're not allowed to own your own gas engine lawn mowers anymore their front yard is now all rocks here so if i ever have a house again i'm doing something quirky like this i know jason and candace from camping with the kelly's we're talking about getting a a six-foot nutcracker or something quirky for their house in uh kingman i think that's a good idea you gotta have something that just makes people smile off the road right we got tater tot for cruising around los angeles today thanks for joining me guys we'll be uploading this video with some nomad internet linked below in the video description if you need some but hang on this town interesting town here in norco california although this is still a pretty busy road right here instead of sidewalks see this see the uh there's a lot of shoe prints in there also but um this is the horse path here in town in norco they love their horses and a lot of homeowners here apparently have horses i don't see any today it's actually a really hot day it's going to be 88 degrees today in los angeles and then tomorrow back down to 70. but anyway let's get a little bit farther into los angeles today that's what we're going to be doing today all right we're on foot to start the day here in englewood on our way to los angeles i smell something really good holy cow it is so freaking huge that's what she said i love it famous randy's donuts here in englewood they got a drive-through they got a walk-up counter what better way to start my day than a big huge donut and a nice coffee yeah let's peek up here looks like they got some souvenirs they might be a magnet a hat look at all these donuts look at that guy right there all right just got one donut this is a it's a heavy freaking donut right there that's a homer-sized pink strawberry frosting sprinkled doughnut it's got some weight to it that's only standing out there for like 30 seconds and three different people asking me for money okay so we're gonna eat inside tater tot here look at this thing look at it would you look at just look at it i mean just look at it look at it and then eat it holy i'm gonna i'm gonna do it i'm not gonna do it oh and they did have a magnet that says randy's donuts on it famous little location here actually i think there might be a couple different locations around los angeles but this was the first one i'm told this is the biggest one yeah geez how many quarters does this thing want so one quarter we're at 29 gets me to 33 one quarter is only four minutes here in los angeles i don't know 40 minutes ought to be good all right 44 minutes let's try that actually these are more like san francisco street hills like i'm like leaning back holy cow looks like we got some competition for scooters did you know lyft now has their own scooters left there's a different one up here this one is uh lime lime brand so that's a little unique most of the big cities i've been to like only one gets the contract you know hang on now here's another one this is a bird company yep so they all get to compete here in los angeles oh the big cities it's not too bad there's not like a whole bunch of honking or anything check out all the colorful uh you know art next door uh huh whoa now that's cool look at this trolley coming down the tracks wow so it's called uh angel's flight little trolley train that'll take you up the hill there's another one at the top up there all right google is my friend can't be giving you guys bad information uh it opened in 1901 and then closed a couple times for getting fixed up and stuff uh this was back like before cars and stuff like that where it was really difficult to walk up that hill so they built this now you don't need it but it's open as a tourist attraction one dollar one way what a bargain right what a good deal oh it's cool all right so there's no engineer uh down here but i guess they conducted everything from the very top there oh this thing's just zipping right along so yeah we're gonna go to the left that's loud and then this guy's gonna pass us on the right holy cow oh that's cool pretty cool man look at those high rises man all right all right and it uh drops us off here at the top of a hill with a little outdoor concert area thingamajig yeah clearly some art it says sufa okay the ambient sounds of sirens ricocheting off all the high rises so you know you're in a big city there's a fountain in here and throw a penny in there and make a wish uh it's art because look a sign right here the museum of contemporary art so uh that's how we know hey that building is actually a really cool piece of art i like that look at that thing down there looks like something out of seattle's experience music project thing hey that's the att building all right we need to go in there and do some complaining about my service lately okay here we are at atnt and actually i'll tell you what this is a really neat piece here if you can see it's like got all the continents on there in the map but it's three dimensional and if you get really up close oh you know what these are all different pieces of telephones like this is part of the switchboard there's part of the old bells maybe like motors and stuff actually that is super neat very very detailed wow i can't believe people are still tagging everything here you people are just oh my gosh yeah that's a that's a motor some kind of a brushed motor there very very cool okay now can we get some better cell towers in the country for a t customers please thanks check out this piece of art between the highway there let's get on the other side still a lot of graffiti on it um what does it do what does it mean it really doesn't matter it's someone's interpretation so if you think it's garbage or junk like me it can be it's interpretive wow get a load of this place guys look at this wall of neon over here you can almost feel the heat of the neon off this wall this is the most neon signs i've ever seen in one place there's a lot to pick from on this i think i think i like the uh pickle riding the pickle oh it is warm holy cow very cool made it back in the car i don't remember if this prius was here when we got here but just noticed something on the back bumper first of all you'll notice that it's from new york okay and then i've never seen this piece of rubber look what it says bumper bully because that's literally how they drive in the big cities they just bump each other and honk at each other whenever they want so i had no idea that there was actually a product made for saving i mean i don't know if he has one on the front too or if it's just because he doesn't trust other drivers but a bumper bully gosh that's hilarious oh man nothing says california like in-n-out burger and did you know that in-n-out burger started this is an exact replica of what it looked like in 1948 in-n-out burger was the very first fast-food drive-through quick service hamburger even before mcdonald's in and out and you know there is really no way to preserve it unless you build these huge gates to keep the weirdos out uh it might open certain hours uh it doesn't look like it's really anything except just something to look at i don't think they serve anything here but there's the original uh over here from the other angle you can see the two-way speaker first of its kind burgers 25 cents and that little red box right there says cigarettes get your burger and cigarettes i'm told told that at night the neon sign up there is lit that's pretty cool there's one other let me get back in the car well okay so this is a replica meant to look like what it was but right over here you've got the original in and out burger sign with the clock on top and then if you look right on the other side of the interstate over there i think there's an in and out museum yeah so a couple different things over here the in-n-out burger company store and a functional in-n-out burger restaurant right there with a line out the door it's 12 18 p.m come back to that let's go to the store first well actually i don't know what it really is it says in and out university but let's go check this out i love the neon palm trees up there all right they got stickers and they got magnets and they got squishies they have really embraced the feel of california with in-n-out burger i love all these unique t-shirts with the classic hot rods in there look at this one that is right up my alley gosh that's gorgeous all right got my magnet and a t-shirt let's go getting oh the line's gone cool all right they just called guest 50 and i'm 83.
so within the drive-thru and everything going on they put out a lot of burgers all right i got the double double with cheese there and fries looks freaking good it's ridiculously good and it makes a difference whether you're eating in or to go because california has a special dine-in tax it's an extra tax if you're dining in yeah all right that was excellent i got recognized by three different people in that busy restaurant it's awesome all right well no trip to los angeles is complete without obviously going to the beach am i right better yet the santa monica pier the end or start depending on where you're at of uh historic route 66 here and uh i think i've been here five times never in season when when this place is actually open there's the famous bike trail the beach looks gorgeous by the way we're gonna head out there here uh after i walk to the end of the boardwalk at least you know it took me some time to get out here today from my friend's house it was a one hour and 43 minute commute just to get to l.a from his house because of traffic it is exhausting so today this video this will be my last stop in the city of los angeles but there are other cities nearby that i'm still going to visit while here so that's why i'm glad i'm out at the beach let's go over here yeah so this boardwalk and beach area is uh so popular they got their own police station right on the boardwalk santa monica police the oatman rock shop don't let candace see this jason i got magnets see hollywood in la but nothing that says santa monica on it so i already got two magnets today oh wait a minute that one's cool that's the santa monica pier the entrance and everything wow that's a really cool magnet i'm really glad i found this stand i am definitely going to get my third magnet of the day but you know what i kind of like this wood one here a little different right no the wood one was cool but i like this one that actually has the palm trees in it and it shows the actual entrance here you know three magnets in one day though pretty sure that's a record oh not including including disney sometimes i get three or four on one disney day that's true yeah i have to head back to the shop and drop off my magnets again wait i'm weighing down the rv of course we've got the route 66 it says end of the trail and i know that's the way it was back in the day moving west but this could be the beginning of the trail too you could just leave here go all the way to chicago yeah pierre burger there route 66 has really good burgers the uh arcade is back open was not open last time i was here oh yeah yeah so we do have zoltar here but they changed the zoltar here into you have to buy a game card you have to buy and load a game card it used to be a dollar um sorry zoltar you lost my business with that move i can't i don't want a whole arcade card i love seeing everything back open in california here's uh pacific park with roller coasters and kitty rides and all sorts of stuff in there really cool some big waves out there lots of people cooling off in the water although just getting here to the water i believe the temperature dropped by 10 or 12 degrees here oh the sand is really warm actually okay that's better that's better oh man pacific ocean finally it's been a long time i've missed this body of water out here the cold frigid temperatures of the salt water but on a day like today this really hits the spot oh why do i ever even go inland i'm an ocean guy well i'm a water guy been doing a lot of lakes this past year pretty much i did some ocean stuff last winter gosh i love it so calming a perfect glorious day man i'm gonna go head back to the rv i got some presents for the kitties some very fresh very fresh feathers to play with to see how they react that'll be fun a little afraid to find out what the traffic's like now but i'm in no rush i feel like i've had a lot of a lot of sugar crummy food today yeah now i am a foodie after all oh look it's a mini me with uh california plates not a mini me it's a mirror me i love it i got a tesla i need a car that drives itself that sucks holy cow guys this has been a nightmare a 40-minute trip is already over three hours it's exhausting just nothing but red on the map the entire trip i'm just there's no fun this is no fun thank goodness i am not coming back to l.a on this trip that i'm done now all right we're back to the rv behind the uh locked gate here at uh my friend's house i really appreciate him letting me uh mooch dog here there's those kitties there's those kitty kitties hi guys i missed you guys so much yeah yeah i did hi opie hi tara uh actually neither of these two kitties have ever seen a feather so uh only uh jack's got feathers and uh it'll be interesting to see how the two kitties do with them little uh tip for you if you gather natural feathers what i do is i put them in a ziploc bag and then i put them in the freezer overnight and what this does is it kind of disinfects the natural stuff on there because birds can have diseases and i don't trust seagulls anyway so you could also boil them i guess i don't know i just freeze them overnight we'll uh test those out in the morning for the kitties i'm tired and my feet hurt like crazy and i need to take a shower because it was really really hot out there today i am going to be editing until about midnight tonight so i'm going to cut back in the morning and show you a little bit more of this place and we'll give those kitty those kitties those feathers okay guys what a long day in los angeles i'm glad it's over and i'm back at the rv oh b good morning you guys sleepy's in your eyes you're first to be awake so you get the feather first okay do you want a real feather do you want it did you want to like smell it and stuff is there anything you wanted to do with it did you want to like are you nuzzling it does it smell weird i put it in the freezer so it doesn't have any yuckies on it did you want it or something don't we take it away can we do anything with it okay i'll go ahead and put it away because you don't want it well you know because you don't want it i'll go ahead and throw it over here but you wanted to see it did you oh you wanna smeal are you gonna eat it i'm gonna eat it okay i'll put i'll put it up here do you want it i got it for you at the beach it's real it's real you want it it's yours enjoy oh you don't want it i'll take it nope sorry sorry kitties are easy you like it let me get more of them and we keep collecting them for use okay you take it okay good boy terra bears you heidens i got to use i got to use ones too is that weird what do you think how do you think about it is it weird i froze it does it make you feel like you made the kill smeal you don't like that one you like it when dad does that do i get it you want to get it don't you my gosh cats love real feathers they really do okay i'll just leave here here okay you just keep it then oh opie that's hers opie you have your own buddy you don't need that one you didn't make the kill she did here and go tara there you go that's yours it's a girl yeah nuzzle it nuzzle it yeah that's yours okay opie he just took it hope he took your fissure opie took the girl's treasure here you go tara sorry about that here tara you take his oh jeez you hog again i'm very very lucky to have such gracious friends who have invited me to uh mooch dock here in a safe area this is their backyard tropical paradise pool with a slide there's a hot tub up there as well it's pretty darn cool and it's all lit up at night with the water flowing and it's a it's a cool little place once the sun sets down here i love this area um it's been a great place to relax and come home to after these crazy days in los angeles so what's up after this well you're just gonna have to wait and see i won't be here much longer but i will remain in the area i like to move around and keep my options open and uh not get too restless so um hi kitties uh opie and tara and i will see in the next video guys be well bye-bye you got that right life is definitely better by the pool guys in this backyard look at this it's ridiculous so that's a slide with uh water running off it pool here it's got that disney tiki feel the only thing missing is the fake rain which hey i don't care i'm loving this and then see all the little tiki figures and if we go up these steps right here look at this boiling cauldron of deliciousness in a hot tub over here is the slide coming out walk up to the top here and uh there's the slide it goes down in the main pool you believe this place i think it's time to get in there all right here we go the most ridiculous hot tub i've ever seen oh my gosh yo yo holy cow don't get me wrong i love rving but this is stinking cool this is awesome holy cow cheers y'all ah just throw it just throw it in the water that's not throwing it on the ground it's different throw in the water
