Last days in Japan| Why I'm leaving, moving out, saying goodbyes |Tokyo VLOG
Hi everyone, we’re heading to the Australian and Korean Embassy today as some of you may know I’m moving to Korea at the end of the year so there’s a lot of paper work I need to do with my visa but now that the application is in I feel so relieved! such a nice autumn day found this place for lunch for this video I’ll go over a few things on why I’m leaving and also a bit about why I came to Japan and what’s a head for the future but first since some for those who are new to my channel a bit about myself my background is Korean but I grew up in Australia and I moved to Tokyo at the start of 2020, for work but because of the pandemic a lot of my work became remote I’m currently working in the field of marketing I used to work in the same field back in Australia but felt a bit bored of the lifestyle and decided to move to Japan I had already worked in Osaka for about 2 years before that so I wanted to try and living in Tokyo this time I’m just working from home today I’ve been so busy preparing to move there’s so much to do while still trying to enjoy the festive period vitamin drink to keep me going I think this is the biggest question you’ll be asking I think the main reason is that I never intended to stay in Japan forever and I just felt like the timing was right to move looking back at my time in Japan I felt accomplished everything I wanted to do in my time here I travelled to most of my bucket list places expeience all the the seasons enjoyed hanami and cherry blossoms went on snowy trips to onsen towns experienced summer festivals and fireworks and made friends that I really connected with I also started my own youtube channel! overall I felt content with my time here and thought I could leave without regrets today we’re heading out to meet a friend and check out a hidden ghibli cafe in Kichijoji this cafe looks like a normal pub from the outside but inside is this cute Ghibli themed cafe we ordered the ghibli set there’s so many cute elements at the cafe each of the meals come Ghibli themed I think this soup is from Laputa and of course you need to have bacon and eggs from Howl’s moving castle the last few weeks have also been busy with meeting up with friend and saying goodbyes it’s a bit sad but I know i’ll visit often all the food here are so cute and actually tasted good too and finally the dessert a slow morning from home I’m determined to start packing today I’ve been so busy with traveling for work I haven’t had the chance to pack yet If anyone is in the same shoes, I suggest starting early I didn’t realise how time consumming everything will be especially with getting rid of furniture and rubbish going to eat a big breakfast to get me started it’s amazing how much stuff accumulates over the years even though I avoided buying to much stuff which brings me to another point on why I’m leaving which it that I started to feel tired of everything being temporary I always felt like I couldn’t invest in nice things since I might be leaving someday also living aboard a lot of the friends I’ve made also end up going back home and I wanted something a bit more permanent I think moving to Korea I can plan for the future a bit more especially with my family being there. I also want to spend a bit more time with my family now we’re headed off to see a christmas market the one we’re going to is Tokyo Christmas Market at Meiji Jingu I can already sense how crowded it will be but the atmosphere was very lively the market has little stalls selling all kinds of christmas goods these little houses are so cute! and then there is of course the food stalls went with the one with the shortest line torn between a hot chocolate and mulled wine I ended up getting the wine, sausage and pretzel this was definately one of the biggest christmas markets I’ve been to in Tokyo it’s abit crowded but worth a visit managed to pack everything I’m sending to Korea you can have everything picked up at your house I took a day off today to sort out more paperwork I can’t believe it’s still Autumn here we’re at the wards office to file that I’m moving there are so much unexpected paperwork to do before you leave it reminds me of when I first moved and all the paperwork I had to do moving in next cuting my internet and phone line honestly this part took the longest amount of time and many phone calls it was already dark by the time I finished I don’t have the energy to cook dinner so we’re at the closest family restaurant I’m also editing my vlogs from my kansai trip a busy day but I feel like a got a lot done today we’re off to get a hair cut this is the salon I usually go to I want something a bit more short and this is the look after next we’re checking out another christmas market this one is at the new Azabudai hills area the design was so grand but there wasn’t much to eat so we came to a yakitori place for dinner we just found a nearby place with good ratings but this was one of the best yakitori I’ve had once last look at Tokyo Tower late night hot chocolate time to wind down and what better way to relax than with a cup of hot chocolate my secret ingredient is adding a spoonful of tahini it gives it this nutty flavour so creamy and delicious enjoying with christmas movies we’re headed to go work at a cafe today! although I’ll miss these cafes days in Tokyo I’m also excited to check out some new cafes in Korea we’re again going to one of my favorite work cafes so for those who are wondering what’s ahead for me and my channel I will continue to vlog and share my adventures in Korea I’m excited to get to know Korea and travel new places Japan is also close by so I plan of visiting often so you can still expect to see some Japan content I plan on staying about a month and travel around Japan living in Korea I think I can use my annual leave to visit other countries as well I want to visit other parts of Asia and also Europe off to the next cafe inside is the most whimsical cosy place love all the little details in the place they serve coffee and tea as well as alcohol I got the matcha set today comes with a little snack and instructions on how to enjoy your matcha I definitely think I’ve changed a lot since I’ve moved here living aboard you get to meet so many new people that you might have not normally interacted with I’ve learnt to see things in new perspectives and ways fo thinking I’ve also learnt a lot about myself and also become more independent I think living in Japan I’ve become more open to trying more things on my own overall I think I’ve grown a lot more as a person in these last 4 years today is finally moving out day I was up till late last night cleaning up everything I’ll be staying at a hotel for the last few days the last thing to do is disconnect my internet and the house inspection getting a little bit emotional thinking all the time I’ve spent here the best view from the apartment I really loved my little neighbourhood it was quiet and comfortable time for some lunch just at my local bakery one last time can’t go wrong with a curry bread spend most of the day doing some last minute shopping now I’m going to meet up with a friend for dinner she got me a early birthday present and a cute drawing of me dinner menu is yakiniku I’m so greatful for the friends I’ve met during my time here they have made my time here that much more enjoyable having one last drink at this bar and it’s finally the day of my flight I already have 2 of my bigger luggage sent to the airport my last meal of course had to be an egg sandwhich looking back at my time in Japan, it was really felt like a dream with so many good memories I will of course miss Japan, but I know I’ll be visiting often I think what I’ll actually miss the most is this period of my life here but I’m also excited for what’s ahead catching one last sunset reading the letter my friend wrote me she also got me a little cake for the ride :) I thought I’d be super emotional on the plane but honestly, the last few weeks have been so busy that I mostly feel relieved everything is done thank you everyone for joining me for my adventures in Japan! I hope you guys will follow me along this next chapter. see you in Korea :)
