Welcome to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Europe's 4th busiest airport (after London, Istanbul and Paris) Schiphol is one of the world's best airports for travelers and even has its own small, carrefully arranged museum exhibit The art exhibit is the result of a collaboration of Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam's world-famous Rijksmuseum The museum features a selection of 19th century Dutch paintings, which rotate within the main museum’s collection The museum is open 24 hours a day and absolutely free This is the Boeing 777-200ER that will fly us to Lima (registration number: PH-BQN; named Nahanni National Park) KLM has a fleet of 31 Boeing 777 aircraft, and almost all of the carrier’s Boeing 777-200ERs are named after world heritage sites KLM's Boeing 777 fleet has an average age of 14 years I am the first passenger to board today’s flight to Lima The B777 features KLM's 'old' Business Class layout, with 34 Business Class seats arranged in a 2-2-2 layout KLM is currently refurbishing its B777 fleet with Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and with a privacy door The cabin’s interior, which is designed by renowned Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, feels fresh, airy and modern The seats are spread over 2 cabins: a large cabin with 28 seats in 5 rows and a small cabin with one row of 6 seats 6K is my seat for the flight to Lima The seat has a pitch of 63 inch (160 cm) and a width of 20 inch (51 cm) I'll take a detailed tour of the seat after takeoff A welcome drink is offered upon boarding We're leaving the gate (on time departure at 9:45 am) The safety video is played as we taxi to the runway The artsy safety video features more than 1000 Delft blue tiles Schiphol covers a total area of 6,887 acres (2,787 ha) of land The airport is a major hub for the SkyTeam airline alliance Schiphol has 5 runways that are used for international air traffic (the runways have been laid out for a variety of wind directions) The Boeing 777’s twin-jet engines equal 175,000 horsepower With this, the pilots can make the Boeing 777 aircraft accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 6 seconds Have you ever flown with KLM?
