Today in Almaty city we were going to a popular day trip of here which is Shymbulak. which is only 20 km away from the main city.
And its roads were not green, but full of many colors. We have come inside the ropeway. As soon as you enter the ropeway, you enter a different world. Where different colors of the valley, river, roads, cars driving on it and snowy mountains can be seen. And a beautiful ride of 10 to 15 minutes ends here at first phase of here which is called Combi 1 here.
We have reached Combi 1 and the atmosphere here is really good, there are many cafes here. You will find cafes here which are similar to the Asthetic cafes. I feel like sitting here for a while but ropeway goes up more than here. But ropeway here is of different type, let me show you. If you want, you can also stay here in Shymbulak. But here for a night stay, you have to pay a minimum of Rs 10,000 to 15,000.
And for camping, you have to pay Rs 6,000 to 7,000 per night. The local currency of Kazakhstan is Tenge. And in exhange of 1 INR you get around 5.7 Tenge.
But from India, you should carry dollars. So I am exhanging money here at Almaty railway station and rates here are very good. There are shops in market too. But keep in mind, generally the shops are open from 9 in the morning and close by 8 in the evening. So, if you are coming from airport at this time, then make sure to get some exchange from there. Otherwise, you will face some problems.
Most of the exchange counters in Almaty are half a kilometer away from the railway station. Where you will get the best exchange rate. It takes you about half a day to Shymbulak trip. And from here, I came back to the city and reached the central park of here. Which was a park to say, but it was a very happening place.

The capital of Kazakhstan is Astana but Almaty city is popular among tourists. The population of Kazakhstan is only 2 crores. While in the world map, it comes on 9th rank in terms of area while India is on 7th rank. It is 5 AM in Almaty and today I am going on a day trip. And it is most popular day trip of here. And it is of two days, but we are going to do it in one day.
And this is the trip of Kolsai and Kaindy lake. And the car of our group is standing here. So, we will sit in it and reach there. It is a very cheap tour and there are a lot of things in it. The video will be with all the details and you will get to see a lot of beautiful places.
Let's go. In this day trip of Kolsai and Kaindy lake, our minivan was going to travel for about 215 km. And there were some dry views on these roads. And we could not see the houses till far. The mountains that we could see from far, they came very close to us till the end.
After a journey of about 3 hours, we have reached a point here. And this place is the Charyn National Park. Let's see what can be seen here and do some hard work. In Charyn National Park, we had to trek about 3 km from this point. But actually, this whole canyon is spread in hundreds of kilometers. As soon as I come here, I have a question in my mind, that how did this place was form? When asked the guide he told that its history is Millions of Years old.
When there used to be a lake here, which later dried up. And some such formation was there, which we got to see today. The Charyn river used to flow where we were walking. The rocks here look different in different forms. Just like India, here too, there is a tradition of building houses with small stones.
It is a 3 km plain trek. Yes, it feels a little hot. And at the end, you get to see that Charyn river, which is now on the other side of it. After about 45 minutes, we have reached this place. Now, I can't tell you whether I am able to capture the beauty in the camera or not.
But this is a very beautiful place. I mean, when I was coming all the way, I was looking at this Charyn canyon. So, I was thinking whether it would be worth reaching here or not. But when you come here, it is awesome. I mean, what a beauty! And the colors that is visible in the river, that reflection is coming, the reflection of the green trees around it. And this greenry looks very beautiful.
It is a must visit place you should come here. It is possible that while coming to Grand Canyon, while trekking for 2.5 km, you will feel a little that you should go or not. But when you reach this destination, it is the ultimate place. If you don't want to trek, you can reach the last point by paying Rs 100 for one way. After here, you are takem to such a view point where there is a 10 min stop over. And after this, we move towards Kazakhstan's most popular place, Kolsai Lake.
In Kazakhstan, Kazakh and Russian language is spoken. And there is a issue of language here. And here, even English is understood by a few people. So, with the help of Google Translate, you can also explain your words and you can translate in app what is written here in russian language. We left at about 5.30 AM and now it is 1.15 PM.
We have reached Kolsai lake after completing some sleep. This is the parking area in Kolsai Lake and we will walk a little and reach there. Let's see how this lake is and why it is the most popular place in Kazakhstan.
It is very easy to reach Kolsai Lake. Because after walking for 2 minutes, I got a glimpse of it. And as you get closer to it, it looks even more beautiful. Kolsey Lake reminded me of Nainital in the first impression. Because if there is no house, population, or anything around Nainital, then maybe it looks the same. Although, there was a lot of difference.
Because there was an Indian vibe. So, here, it was a complete foreign vibe. I thought I will do boating here. But I had to walk a little far. And now I want to rest a little and I feel like watching these views. So, there is a cafe here. It is very good.
I orderd coffee It is not too expensive. I mean, according to location it is good, Coffee costs me around Rs 300. I am just sitting here. I just have to look at these views. This is the such a point.
I am getting a good feel here. There is a vibe here. People are taking photos and videos down there. And some people are walking ahead and doing boating. It is as you wish. My opinion is that if you are doing this trip, then do it in two days.
Because if you do this trip in one day, then it will be very hectic. I mean, I woke up at 5.30 AM and it will be 10-11 PM by the time we will reach Almaty. So if you do this trip in 2 days then you also get a chance to stay in this village. So you will enjoy more in that and also you will roam in a relax way.
Kazakhstan is a secular country and 70% of the population here is Muslim. And rest are Russians and some people of other religions. Kazakhstan used to be a part of the Soviet Union and in 1991, it became a free country. Here, there are petroleum, chemicals, mines and many natural resources, on which basically the economy of this country depends.
Another problem comes in this trip and that is not getting Indian food anywhere. So, do carry some raw food, fruits and snacks with you. If you do this trip in two days, then one day you have to stay in a place called Saty Village, in which you get sharing stay and you have to pay Rs 1000 to 2000 per person. By the way, today's trip was not yet over and now we were going to go to Kaindy Lake. And what we were going to see now was beyond our imagination.
Because off-roading was going to come ahead and we had to shift from the minivan to another vehicle. This is that adventure car, with which we are going to have a Adventure ride till Kaindy Lake. The adventure ride was really fun and they drop here, this is the parking point. And after this, you can go by this car by paying 500 Tenge, around Rs 90 to 100 for one way.
So, I am thinking to go from this, I will get some time there. Because I have to reach back here around 5.30 pm and then I have to go back to Almaty. So, let's see how today's last lake is. But this last road makes me very happy in this entire day trip. But the adventure of 2-4 minutes if still left after this. We have sit in this car.. brother...
There is no seat belt.. there is full adventure in this small ride till Kaindy lake. Kaindy name is very sweet but road to it is full of adventure. After dropping the car, there is a trek of about 1 km, which has very beautiful roads. And as soon as it ends, you reach a world that I have never seen before. As there is a climax in the movie, there is also a climax in this trip and that is Kaindy Lake. If you see, there are trees all over the lake and here it is said that it is a reverse tree.
