the place which speaks of our culture thats Janapada loka, come let us see it Tourism Ministry of India along with Karnataka tourism department as part of Dekho apna desh or come see my country programme now we have come to Janapadaloka janapada loka is located at Ramanagara, on the Bangalore Mysore Highway From Bangalore it is around 50 kilometres from Mysore it is around 80 kilometres This janapada loka is spread across 20 acres area Many village culture can be seen at Janapadaloka in 1994 Sri H L NageGowda had established it he was a prominent Kannada folklorist and author India tourism Bangalore's Director Mohammed Farouk paid respect to Sri H L Nagegowda Sri H L Nagegowda was multi talented this janapada loka is a outcome of his long cherished dream Nage Gowda was born in Heraganahalli village Nagamangala taulk in Mandya district this village did not even have transport facility inspite of these challenges he cleared the exam of the Indian Administrative Services He served as Revenue Probationary officer later on he became a officer of the Indian Administrative Service at Shivamogga, Chikkamangalore, Dakshina Kannada districts he served as the District commissioner he retired in 1979 not just that Sri nagegowda has written around 50 books Janapada loka will be open from morning 9:30 am to evening 5:30 pm here entry fee for aduls is Rupees 50 and for children is Rupees 25 at the entrance on the gate we can see image of big wind musical instruments along with the sun god image as we enter the main gate to welcome us two attractive statues are there among them one is a statue of veeragase and the other is the Yakshagana some time even the ducks come to welcome us if we come a little further there we can see the open air amphitheatre this is a beautifully built amphitheatre here they regularly conduct janapada programmes and dramas annually once they conduct the Janapada lokothsava a variety of programmes are there in these amphitheatres if we come here during holidays we can see these kind of cultural programmes cultural songs and dances are there on holidays Anusiya Bai's creation of pottery and lamps also we can witness here it is a sight to see her make variety of poetry and lamps tirelessly more than 100 varieties of lamps she makes it and sells it too during deepavali there is a lot of demand for the lamps that she makes here not just she even we can try our hands on pottery she will offer the required help and helps us make pottery on our own this is the magic lamp the oil will not flow out when inverted if we light the lamp in it today then it will burn till tomorrow there is alot of demand for this always every where they sell it for 200 rupees, i sell it for rupees 60 this is a stone basinm, which was used for elephants to drinking water is was this found in Shivamoggas districts, Hosanagara taluks, Kumbathi village here are model houses of Malnad region Karnatakas shyadri ranges dense forest area residents here we can see two variety of the houses of that region mud walls, wood, bamboo and areca leaves are used to build these houses they build these houses such that on all four sides there will be strong sloping roof in these kind of houses, in summer it will cool and in winters it will be warm these houses are able withstand heavy rains this is a village house long back in Malanad region this kind of houses were constructed there were people known as Deevaru they used to build such homes each kind of people make different kind of houses some use coconut leaves, areca leaves, grass this type is done by the Malnad regions Deevaru people these are the Hase wall painting infront of the house the hen coup will be there on one side they will be cleaning the ragi breaking the wooden logs infront of the house hen, sheep , cattle various such things can be seen in front of the house the chicken coup is here if you called them making this sound and put rice inside, it will come to you on its own then immediately they shut the door and keep the chicken in the coup come at malnad it is always cold there from this hole the fire is lit and the water heated and we take bath on the outerside here in front area they make a shelf kind of structure on which they use it for drying leaves, fruits etc from the heat which is generated here here is for the sheep to sit on this side for storing the things the rooms are like this this is the hase wall painting this is a room they never use cement or granite in the house the floor will be raw the Hase wall paintings are done on the house wall when a wedding happens in the house by looking at those pictures one can tell how many children from that family have got married if one male child is married then they would have drawn one couples picture if two of them are married, then they will draw two couples if three are married then three couples pictures will be drawn now all keep their money in the cupboards back then what they previously they used to have boating facility here now there is no water, so they have stopped boating completely there is a bear this is a crocodile that is gaur now restoration work is going on of this lake soon boating and fountain will begin here this is lift irrigation then there were no pump sets for watering the fields
