INSANE! Taken For A WILD Ride In Korea (Bike Touring Korea #40)
you know I think I'll pass I think I'll pass I would much rather stay right over here at the jjimjilbang that's where I stayed last night and so welcome to Pohang I think I arrived in Pohang about 6 days ago feeling terrible I feel so much better today and I've already been out to Ulluengdo I went to Dokdo I'm back here. and I'll be getting on my way today. I'm heading to Daegu and so it kind of feels like I didn't see a whole lot in Pohang I got to meet some really nice people here thank you to Lee for letting me stay at his house and Lee took me to the Jukto fish market and we had an excellent snow crab dinner but I didn't record it just because I just didn't feel good and when not feeling your best you kind of just don't want to work you know how it is and so I feel bad cuz I didn't really film that much in Pohang just because I wasn't feeling good but just the way it is I had a great time here and uh it's time to get a move on and so looking like a cloudy day today but it's not hot feels good and so from here I think it's about 85 kilometers to Daegu we got a good pretty good uphill and then once you get uphill you're kind of coasting downhill down into Daegu so I'm all packed up and ready to go thank you to this jjimjilbang it was the second time I stayed here not too bad but let's do it and you can just tell too when you're not feeling your best and you're feeling weak, you just don't want to ride the bike but I have my strength back and it feels so good I'm excited cycle today all righty it's my first little town we can go left to Gyoengju, right to Gigye or straight to Yeongcheon uh-oh, it's a town that starts with Yeong that means it's probably going to be pretty good so I just stopped off at a bakery and I was looking around I got a lot of good stuff I found this, mammoth bread, and so I haven't tried mammoth bread since the whole expired bread incident way back in Gangwa I saw it and I was like you know what, I'm in a proper bakery, I bet it's pretty good so I'm going to give it another try let's see how proper mammoth bread tastes it's a sandwich. okay it's kind of soft it has these little crusties on the outside um I believe that's red bean paste inside there some cream uh some chestnuts so it's thick it's all right I love bread but I probably wouldn't get this again all right so it says I've been climbing for a while now but it hadn't been that bad looks like it gets pretty steep right here but I don't know it can't be that it can't be that bad compared to the east coast when it was just up and down up and down this is just like one good incline and then pretty much cruising all the way down and there's like one more little bump but gosh the East Coast was so freaking tough Daegu 57 kilometers I can do this oh man I'm sweating I'm feeling it but again I will take this any day than the steep up downs up downs of the East Coast at least I can just drop into the low gear and just just push through it you know not literally push but cycle through it it's not too bad but you just kind of get in the flow and you just go yeah I'm sweating and I'm hot but I don't have to get off the bike and I don't have to push now that ain't a bad view from up here really got to pay attention though I have no shoulder woohoo that was easy nothing to it now we just got a downhill uh-oh why is my navigation telling me I need to pull off there okay he wants me to go a different way ah what should I do yeah let's go that way let's get off the main road and go back in there maybe it's something cool to look at let's turn around damn that's pretty cool holy [ __ ] I got to see if I can't ride in one of these cars with them. Surely they'll let me wow, let's look inside here real quick wow okay okay okay I totally played the YouTube card and it worked glove? glove? oh yeah sorry I sat on it okay apparently this guy is one of the uh the best in Korea or the world is what they said uh all right what's your name? my name is yeah all right nice to meet you please take care of me that is crazy wow what a feeling wow that is intense that is intense that was amazing thank you so much thank you thank you so much wow that was that pretty intense wow gosh that's so loud how freaking sweet was that? wow never expected that honestly I'm glad I turned around back there it's one of those times when the navigation takes you on like a side road and you're like ah you know do I want to take it or not glad I did I'm glad I turned back around and came up this way that was kind of crazy uh yeah I lived in Guma in Japan for a long time I've been up the mountain the famous Haruna Mountain that's famous for Initial D the uh the manga and uh yeah but I've never done it never done it so that was pretty cool thank you to those guys back there for letting me ride that was awesome and this is why you get off the main road sometimes because you get taken down some side mountain roads like this it's pretty nice very unsurprising another city with the beautiful park and river it's pretty nice down here and it looks like over here they're having some sort of event today but I think I'm early check it out it's a Texas barbecue place I wonder if it is open very very random YouTuber YouTuber yeah I'm going around Korea yeah yeah yeah oh nice to meet you nice to meet you nice to meet you here here here all right I saw Texas barbecue and I want to try okay so looks like it's all for two people but so this is for two people huh couple menu can you do a half order? okay I'll do this one then I don't know if they can split it up or not but I'll try this one okay do you want drink? just uh Sprite Sprite Sprite or cider or over here okay wow that is freaking good so have a quick look at the uh the salad bar here this is something you'll find in Texas just about everyone but uh it definitely has some a Korean style to it you know you have your pickles, jalapenos, peppers, salad, um you know I thought those were crackers but no I think that's just salt and over here you'll have your kimchi and some noodles and so you're not going to find that in Texas but you'll find it here got some garlic some soup oh okay that's what the noodles are for some seaweed a little bit of chili all right okay this like a light soup a light clear broth soup really soft noodles it's pretty good it smells right smells good once again I got a big plate of food wow half a chicken brisket, chicken, are these the same? two different kinds of ribs all right thank you looks good so looks like it's all kind of covered in this uh sweet chili sauce too the meat falls right off the bone so yeah it's kind of like a Texas barbecue Korean Fusion right here no no no no no that's good let's try the uh the brisket they gave me four chunks of brisket here not bad that's pretty good look at that guy is huge that is huge that is good I mean, I would just say if I were doing it, I wouldn't put all the chili sauce all over everything which is not bad but I would just you know make the food and deliver it with nothing on it maybe a little bit of barbecue sauce if anything and then let the the customer add the sauce or whatever they whatever they uh prefer but that's pretty damn good though not going to lie It's a little different than like authentic real Texas barbecue but they've added their own flare to it their own style and it's still good though it's still good I mean I will say you're missing like barbecue sauce and that's a huge thing in Texas right like the barbecue sauce and so yeah that's one thing I guess that's one sauce maybe an important sauce that you're missing but like I said it's more catered to the Korean palette I think and the Korean taste this is definitely Texas style but it has kind of a Korean twist to it oh my gosh I'd love to see people's faces in Texas if you served them kimchi at a texas barbecue place okay and I got some bags over here and some uh some stuff to pack all this up cause I'm not going to be able to finish it but she did make me some tteok because today is a Chuesok maybe today tomorrow this weekend is the Thanksgiving holiday here in Korea and so she gave me some tteok that's a good dessert that's good it's just rice cake and the red bean paste fresh thank you thank you so much everyone's so nice thank you so much thank you so much thank you thank you thank you thank you so much all family? oh wife's parents wife's parents I see all right no thank you no thank you no thank you it was very good thank you goodbye goodbye okay before I go they want to show me I guess the party room downstairs oh nice okay karaoke singing? okay that's pretty cool come down here and yeah I guess reserve the room and have a party down here and sing nice pretty cool Texas barbecue places in Texas do not have that okay this is where they uh stack all the wood for the smokers okay ah nice look at that oh yeah they're doing it right that's for sure ooo nice nice those are uh some big heavy duty smokers Yep they're doing it right on the road again stuffed man it's pretty good it's pretty good you know the place in Gangwa was definitely more authentic when it comes to Texas barbecue I mean even you know the second you walk into that place there's Texas stuff everywhere you know they have two different kinds of barbecue sauces and uh still give it two thumbs up they wouldn't let me pay because in Korea nobody lets me pay for anything and uh they said it's Chuseok and it was their gift to me so thank you very much I appreciate it I hope a lot of people come out there and check it out and try it for themselves here in Yeoncheong I think is right all right let's get to Daegu I like what the artist has done here he has like the old traditional style painting that you would see in a lot of places depicting what life was like maybe back in the day what they were wearing but they've modified it everyone's holding iPhones in their hands walking around with Starbucks cups looking on the computer over there if it is going to be like this the whole way down into Daegu, I am not complaining feels good outside it's finally a little bit cooler even though it is mid September right now by the time I upload this video it's probably gonna be December but uh right now it's like September 14th or 15th I think and it's still a little warm but much better than a month ago it feels good I really just want to jump right in the water looks so inviting just don't know where I'd get out that feels so good all right welcome back to Min's house and once again I show up and he's not here where you at Min my room, heck yeah my packages and uh sweet good to be back good to be back
