I Returned To My Favorite City in Poland - Kraków
hello hello hello I am in kov Poland my third time here but it's been a while it's been over a year since I've been here and someone that I am with it's my friend here yo what's up what's up now like I we've been messaging for years but we haven't met until now like I I knew he was in kov and he was like if you ever come back to kov let me know so as soon as I knew that I was going to come I hit him up and he says he's going to show me around this lovely city now kov is in my I would say top five top top five favorite cities in Europe I've been here three times there's a reason why lovely people good food great history and uh I don't know what else is there one more thing about kov [ __ ] basic I just put him on a spot for no reason basically named it no yeah that's yeah I named them all the food the people the history I that's why I love it yeah so he's going to be showing us around and uh first we're going to go get some food some traditional Polish food let's go boom this is really really traditional because it's it's not in English oh yeah it is yeah you'll have to tell oh might as well take my hat off here matching haircuts yeah matchings yeah are you vegetarian or vegan thank God my girlfriend I'm joking oh that makes it tough but um so what I go for is just like a simple cut of meat or something like that with a with a side either potatoes that's pretty typical but what I like here is K which are these um little they're likei but they're made from potato flour okay something like that and you put like gravy on them Del delish delish and to drink the most important thing is um no alcohol no no no it's something called compot uh compot right here so the story with that is when people make uh canned fruits canned peaches or cherries or something like that this is the juice from it right okay yeah it's it it's not as sweet as it sounds cuz they usually don't add sugar to it or it's very little it's more just the homemade fruit juice so what I'm getting for that sounds like uh I'll be getting exactly what you're getting yeah let's see it's got like the chunks of whatever floating in there you really oh yeah cuz it's like I said it's like just um caned can fruit okay it's kind of warm oh it's good like room temperature room temperature it is sweet I like it strawberry right strawberry cranberry oh cranberry I think oh cheers man n this is not strawberry I don't think it's strawberry I think you'd have to ask I think I'm leaning with cranberry there's no way it's crry cramberry is so so sour no no way that's I know I know you you're from here so you know better yeah yeah much thank you look at that oh that looks so good and these are potatoes uh k so they're like uh how do you call them it's like a dumpling kind of like a YY but fluffier and made from potato flour like this this is uh they're from siia so the region that fra is in it's it's more from the west of right's what is this like a souram okay garlic sauce bring it me here man I'm I'm excited to be trying nothing traditional this is it right here M they put in that this how you eat it you dip it in the you want to eat everyone everyone has their own taste right oh it has like a like a mashed potatoey texture a little bit like how do you even how do you explain it having eating it how did you explain it I wouldn't even know how to explain it it's rubbery M mashed potato doesn't sound good but it's like super thick as well yeah and this is pork y let's give this a try and what can you say it's a big chunk of meat yeah some really really good actually really tender pork meat right there tasty tasty tasty oh man this is what I usually dip in the uh in the garlic sauce right oh the meat mhm this this is two two different um selections one is the meat and the garlic sauce like that comes together and then uh this thingy right here have you seen Poland they do garlic sauce or pizza like garli here it's a garlic sauce on pizza is a really common thing and also ketchup Inland mhm I don't know about ketchup but I can do garlic sauce garlic sauce is banging but ketchup on Pizza blows my mind man when you eat ketchup on pizza in Italian somewhere D what about pineapple and pizza you don't like it it's a thing here I don't like it though I love it the this is so thick it's always kind of hard to swallow you know what I mean no no fun that no h cre where is this going on YouTube or like I think they will understand what we're talking about later it has been raining I've been in Poland for about I think almost a week and this is the first time that I've Seen Rain and I saw that smooth uh what's that uh the the movie of them dodging bullets kind of thing matx the Matrix that's that's what that move was but after that lovely meal going for dessert we're going for a special kind of dessert yeah this was a important trade route River it's pretty wide it goes through like warsa goes through does it no it doesn't go through VAV but it goes through um this river right here yeah yeah yeah I remember seeing this last time that I was oh sorry about that let me get out of the way I remember seeing this last time that I was here I just yeah it just brings back so many memories this is so cool the acro acrobatic sculpt sculptures are they yeah sculptures do you know anything about them not a not a it does look cool though this one right here especially you see that one right there that one even that one him balancing holding the balls I think these are footballs are two footballs no three three two in one hand and and one in a sling in a sling yeah what kind of this is Arts right here so this this separates the two districts so behind us is the Jewish District K this is pja pja p means under guja means Mountain okay and they call it I don't know if you can see the mountain that's kind of peeking out all the way there yeah and on top of that is um is that copet so it's like a a mound built on top of a hill it's like a panorama of of craco uh it's pretty hipstery area Okay as you'll see it looks lot like kajim but it's a lot more restaurants here a lot more upscale restaurants bakeries cafes breweries especially the dessert that we're probably going to be going to find nice juicy yeah it's it's a it's a dessert with an interesting name so yeah we're on way to go look for it we're on a hunt for it we're hoping that wherever we go wow just look at that and I'm sure it's like really really old as well this one not so much it's only like 1914 which for Poland is it's really current yeah yeah yeah yeah we can go inside if you want we can we can take a look cuz I always see stuff like this especially around Europe and I'm like how did they build these things you know on some of these buildings the churches are like hundreds 200 400 even yeah longer than that yeah and I'm like how where they built step by step yeah here it isia luia luia guess you take your hat off all right so these are the desserts wow look at this one is that marshmallows on top that looks like like a t Sude oh okay there [ __ ] cic they have cic they have the Polish cheesecake [ __ ] maybe they have it in the back n we can keep looking yeah we can he wants some of the cake too get that was just enjoy you want to bounce you want something from here no no no I want that one one thing so we have I think maybe found a place that may have it oh it could be here there it is so hello so this is here here yeah if they have it yeah they do mhm where's it at oh this is right there kova kka kka fova fova you know uh in English in Polish what do you want uh English okay that is not the classical uh because that will have uh that will have a Whi wh Whi cream whipped cream yeah that is something like bonus inside okay uh but it's very good yeah there's a a good story behind behind this one that's why we're going to try is there anything else is like traditional uh for now uh something like here uh in here here you have cake uh so it is known as the the cream pie the cream pie uh okay and yeah I'll have a piece of it a little piece of it yeah so there's a test uh a final exam for high school students of Po called matura okay and of course when the the pope finished it he he tells the story that after matura exam that they went in vov which is a town about half an hour from here for kka and and that's it actually that's the whole story the whole story okay so it used to be the Pope's favorite and that was Pope jum Paul II yeah cuz he was polish okay yeah all right uh and of course uh the most important thing uh we have very different kovas something like this uh something like uh traditional and where you have only this um yellow cream okay uh this cream is based of uh butter only only butter and sugar interesting you make this yourself uh in here yeah oh wow okay it's Ste yeah oh yeah it looks amazing I know it's going to taste just as good as it looks so I'm excited yeah I'm I'm excited okay uh for all of this is will be 2427 C Kish uh c yeah ch so again we are trying the Polish want thetic chair man let's get the Romantic chair right here just met you already yeah man cream P oh man how are you supposed to fit it in your mouth I don't know just work why you talking like that I'm serious look at it it's like when you get that really huge Burger how you supposed to eat it exactly the same thing so just a bit cream cuz the the words that you're using what also what other words use it's a good um it's a good cream pie and it's a real cream I mean it isn't that um that vegetable based stuff it's like actually with cream and butter oh my God which I was worried about in like comic that other like soless Bakery they would for sure have like that oil based but this is you can taste it's real it is real right you have the M that's the little the Crusty part like breaded bisc part but then the middle part it's just so it just melts and then it's at the bottom of it is more of the the bisc crumby what would you even call it um like describe the the top and the bottom it's like flaky kind of yeah is a good one like flaky pastry puff pastry something like that oh my God [ __ ] try not to use my hands yeah I don't know how we going to have room for that myits I really like myates look I can eat man I I always have space in my stomach my coob is a really big Christmas food I don't know why that is what's association with poppy and Christmas but so I've been ranking uh pastries and desserts number one is this Greek pastry okay yeah you know you know of it which one it's called galak M oh man that's number one for me I would say number two some of the Danish ones that I've had um cuz come on like Danish pastries are special this right here is in the top five for sure the flaky part is annoying just cutting it you know but we're not we're not here for that that doesn't matter we're here to eat it it does tastes amazing I'm going to try this what's this called again movat which movia Maat movat ma means poppy poppy seed and ovet means kind of like guy or thing so it's like poppy thing okay it's like dry a lot more dry than is it like dates or nuts or something inside of it I can yeah dates for sure it's good but you said it's not a a really bad butt it's not in my top top five or top 10 but this is too dry like yeah I'll take I'll take one piece like a little one I'll judge this my yeah that's how it's supposed to be yeah yeah it has um the okay those are either raisins or are these raisins I ha golden raisins looks like it yeah I like it without anything I just like like pure pure poppy then you go to you don't go to the toilet for like a week after cuz it it um blocks you up right po poy in yeah it's like a cork that's not good it's fine if you're traveling a lot just you know don't have to worry about using the toilet on the bus or something I'm at the center this is the center or what is it called the main Square the main Square okay and I remember years ago going all the way to the top I don't know if we're able are we able to go in uh this time I don't know if it's open uh to the top maybe not I don't know through this entrance no I is it a ticket I I don't know I think there was a ticket last time never been up but it says for it says for prayer only yeah this is for only so the the stairs to go up it's not here but and then it's under construction as well what time is H in 20 minutes they'll play the song The Bell no the trumpet every hour yeah they go up there and do the trumpet yeah a volunteer fireman which is a fun fact because he has to run up all the stairs every hour right really yeah I thought there was always just someone there and then every hour he just does it maybe job in the world get paid to just stay there and Instagram that's what I thought he got some uh protesters over there letting their voices be heard it's in English for someon yeah it is in English yeah no it's mixed it's mixed now wow man it feels good to be back in kov man again one of my favorite cities in Europe and again my friend here giv me the best tour of kov like I I've been here before some of the stuff that he's taking me to or some of the places that he's taken me to the things that he's told me I didn't know anything about so I would not have known any of it if I was by myself so this guy is the real MVP the real MVP pleas the people especially before and after a great cream noie oh man heteronormative cream pie interracial it was interracial oh man
