I damaged my restored motorcycle for the first time | S8, EP11
How on earth.. did that bend? Not sure if I can shift Güzelyurt, Turkey Season 8 - Eps. 10 Good morning Internet it is 8:30 in the morning and welcome back to the channel Welcome to another beautiful day in Turkey And another day in which I'm going to explore some of the lesser known areas of Cappadocia I'm only going to ride 85 kilometers today I can't remember the last time that I rode so little in one day But that also means that I have plenty of time if I want to make a little detour, and to explore a little bit So I am really looking forward to today Very cool town this was, wow In a way Turkey reminds me a little bit of Morocco Okay, I hope this doesn't anger anyone but remember those um, those cave houses in Morocco That I went to see in Balil, I think it was called right? And I also had.. was it not in the same place? I think it was in the same place, that I also had to push a motorbike upstairs So history is repeating itself But now in a different place Wow, this is a pretty cool view of the town Right, let's see if we can make a stop here Hi I stumbled upon an underground city. I just entered I asked if there was a guide or anything um, but there's no guides again. So I'll just have to find my own way
Okay, which way? I already don't know which way This way or this way It's getting really narrow. I can literally just fit in between here This is so narrow This is crazy It's just going further down. How deep is this? This is incredible I now I have to crouch 'cause it's so low Still going down Man.. how could people live here You better not be claustrophobic in this place hey? Okay, I have reached a slightly more open space here with tunnels going all sides Down there, down there and this way This says: 'graves' Let's go in here So this must have been a place where they bury the people It said this was the grave site Or maybe down here Maybe down here. Light's broken here I am now eight stories down. This underground city has eight levels
And I'm now at the lowest. This is a ventilation shaft See it goes down here. I don't know if you can see that Crazy, don't want to fall in that So now that I've reached the lowest level, I think it's time to get back out It's getting real hot, wearing all my gear of course But anyway I'm now in a different part of the city. I didn't come here before Where do I go now? Said there will be arrows but..
.. It's just tunnels everywhere I really don't know Which way? Tunnels.. everywhere I did see.. some stairs here Made it out alive.. Oh, this looks good Salam alikum Can I have a pomegranate juice? Okay, one cup - Yes thank you This looks amazing. These pomegranates are huge
Look at them compared to the size of an orange I deserve this I love pomegranate Super healthy as well, I think They also have a pretty amazing church down here This is called the grapevine church Built in the 19th century But uh, it's closed. I actually read it's only open with Easter But I don't know if that's true It's definitely closed now We also have camels here, look How are you doing? Well, that was definitely worth it and I didn't know it was here I just passed here and I thought hey, it seems like something to see here How random is that So that was kind of lucky Let's continue my ride And there are just so many lovely, lovely little dirt tracks like these in Turkey I really, really enjoy this Okay, Frankie is really going to get dirty now Not a good idea. I'm already getting stuck here Bad mud You know they are different kinds of mud This is bad That just really.. look like a sinkhole You know, the kind that you just immediately sink with both wheels And then good luck to you What a cool area.. right? This is.. this is rural Cappadocia Frankie down First time! Well, there's a first for everything Get Frankie off the ground I just wanted to switch to this lane because I saw this mud here So.. oh, but there's a lot more there
Aye yea yai I didn't see that coming. There is a track coming there So maybe.. I can go around here Let's see Can you believe what just happened? I got stuck behind something and now I've bent my gear shifter How on earth.. did that bend? *grunts in Dutch* It's a little better Not sure if I can shift What a freak situation.. right?
Again reminds me of Morocco. Remember quite in the beginning I got a hole in my airbox From a rock or something And now I get caught on, I don't even know what it was, it looked like a bale of hay And my gear shifter just bends with it Crazy It's always something, you know Doesn't matter what you do As soon as you go off-road.. trouble will find you Always Okay, new plan I found a bigger track And I think this will.. I just kind of, need to go into that general direction right? Yeah, I think that track I'm heading towards that big mountain in the distance Oh, little dust devil. See it? And it's gone All this stuff is feche feche You know what that is? Feche feche is your worst nightmare It's like the finest, finest silt It's not very deep here so that's good but..
Oh, that stuff is really tricky on a motorbike or on a car as well, I suppose Look up there. Caves Wow, up there in the rocks as well Lots of them Anybody home? It's all abandoned. All these houses are abandoned This is all abandoned I wonder why? This once was a beautiful building right? Look at all the stone carvings, it's amazing Now nobody lives here I go one level up Looks like there's no streets Or there maybe Let's see how far we can ride up It's a little bit overgrown I wonder how long it was that people lived here It's all.. empty Crazy place right? Oh, this is probably as far I can go on the bike Look up there, wow What a place Let's have a little look around This was probably where they kept the animals I'm thinking looking at all that hay on the floor And then I just wonder what's inside here? Oh, this is connected to the other place, see I wonder why it's abandoned? Maybe there's been an earthquake here? Could that be? That destroyed so many houses that.. that they left it I wonder because this, it doesn't look too old So maybe it was an earthquake or some other natural disaster 'Cause there's still stuff laying around here, you know See there's still curtains in front of the windows Even though I'm pretty sure nobody lives here anymore 81a Here's 81b I can peek through the window See, this is just.. used to be someone's house there's still jam or what is that jar? Canned.. canned vegetables
I'm not going to climb too many buildings here, because I'm not sure how stable or unstable it is I am heading down into the next gorge Insane. Look at that Wow. Amazing You can see.. ..That there's cave houses, all the way on the top there as well And then down there, down there, everywhere Wow, incredible You could spend months exploring all of them There are just so many Right down there as well Unreal, look at that! It's like skyscrapers but then from natural rocks There's another whole city carved out everywhere, wow Lunch is being served. I'm getting some salad some bread, homemade butter, homemade cheese and here are my vegetables And then I also got some some filled bread, also filled with vegetables So I took this opportunity to give Frankie a little wash, they had a hose there So I just sprayed down Frankie a little bit, 'cause she was a little filthy And now, I figured let's just check out this area Wow This is amazing Unfortunately, people have been carving their names and everything, but I'm sure that these paintings are original I'm now in the church Once this was beautifully decorated, I am sure, look at that ceiling There's figures there Wow I'm just going to stand inside this church because it is considerably cooler here than outside where it's getting pretty hot, but I thought maybe, I should explain a little bit about Cappadocia for as far as I know it So the Cappadocia region has been formed 60 million years ago by the erosion of soft layers of lava and ash from three volcanoes, Mount Erciyes, Mount Hasan, and Mount Güllü And so over millions of years of wind and water erosion, these rocks have been carved out And human settlement of Cappadocia dates back to the Paleolithic Era So Cappadocia means land of beautiful horses So in the year 332 BC, Alexander the Great beat the Persians but he encountered great resistance here in Cappadocia And that's when the first Kingdom of Cappadocia was established Now towards the 3rd century BC, the Romans started put more and more pressure on the region And finally the last Cappadocian king was overturned in 17 AD And then this became a province of Rome, but before that happened many Christians tried to escape Roman soldiers And they fled to this region and yeah, dug out entire underground cities, houses up in the rocks It's absolutely fascinating and this is actually a church So a Christian church also from that time So I'm really glad, that I came back for round two Um, to explore like yeah, some different parts of Cappadocia that don't receive too much attention The last time, I just went to kind of the main area Remember with the, where they have the hot air balloons and everything There's some tunnels here too See, where these one go Oh wow, they go into this massive chamber, I can't see anything Okay I just.. there's supposed to be a guest house in this little village here So I thought let's stay there, and this is such a stunning valley So I thought it would be nice if I could stay the night here Ah here Amek Pension Can I ride through that? That's the question I think so Oh no, steps! Or not I have learned nothing I should check before I go somewhere Salam alaikum How are you? Hi - English? - Yes little Yes hi Misserey - Noraly Noraly - Nice to meet you How are you? - I'm good How are you? - Fine good and you? - Good Good - What a amazing place you live Yes - Oh, I love it here Yeah, so I was thinking uh, I was hoping to stay the night, maybe here? It's possible Possible - Good - Yes Nice - I make room Okay - okay Hello! Oh, you're so cute *puts paw on top of boot* No! Come on, you are the cutest What's his name? - Super - Super So this is where I'll be sleeping tonight What an amazing room right? I absolutely love it and then I can look outside here There's a little bridge So I just asked here, if she knew what happened to that village that was totally abandoned that I was before, and she said it's because of rockfall So rocks are coming down the cliff, and it's just basically too dangerous to live there So the government said, you guys have to have to move, it's not safe anymore And then she said, that also here, there's only three families allowed to live It's her, with her parents and then the restaurant where I had lunch, and then there's one more, I think restaurant on the other side And that's the three families, because before there used to live more people here as well But on that side, it's also too dangerous because of rockfall So that explains, why that village was uh, abandoned Anyway, it is such a stunning location where I'm staying It's just it's so lovely, really, it's amazing Look at this amazing dinner Got some soup, rice, meat, chickpeas, salad and bread What a feast So while I am devouring another really great Turkish meal, I'm going to end this video That was it for today, I really hope you like this video If you did please give me a big thumbs up, subscribe down below and then I will see you in the next video
