It is 7:15 in the morning and welcome back to the channel Welcome here in Jeddah,Saudi Arabia Now before I leave Jeddah I'm going to have a breakfast but that's just around the corner from here Some nice granola and yogurt So I am right now in Jeddah and my plan for today is to reach around this area over here So I'll be first well, I have to bypass Mecca 'cause I'm not allowed in Mecca And then I will pass Ta'if and then I'll be riding through these mountains And hopefully end up somewhere here today Oh, the weather here in Jeddah it is so nice and warm I'm gonna start riding without my jacket But I'm sure I'll have to put it on later today 'Cause I'm heading into the mountains and it can get quite chilly up there so let's see How it's like Okay Bye-bye All right Oh, I loved it so much here in Jeddah I don't know, I just took an instant liking to this place And it did not disappoint Like the old town was amazing and.. I don't know. Good vibes.. In Jeddah But you know me, I love the mountains So I am also of course very excited to leave the city again And go into the mountains But it might mean the end of the really nice weather But let's see Maybe I get lucky Here is Mecca So this is probably the closest I'm getting to Mecca But that's okay Mecca is for pilgrims.. not tourists So I am kind of riding on the outer ring of Mecca now I just passed those signs where they already separate.. pilgrim, non - pilgrim
So obviously I took the non - pilgrim lane Yeah, I'm kind of following the ring road around And then.. well, I'm already seeing mountains So I've kind of already re-entered the mountain area This truck is kicking up some dust But it's still really warm so temperatures haven't dropped yet Look what's ahead of me! Yoi Good morning Arabic? Little bit arabic Closed - Closed? Ah Location? This closed? - Closed And Ta'if? Ta'if? Ta'if eh.. Al Bahah Yeah Al Bahah Google maps Um Yeah Ah, I have to.. In this road? I go - You go go - Ah There And then.. ah Okay Okay Okay, it's closed I don't know I'm not quite sure It sounds like I have to make a very big detour 'Cause this means I have to go all the way back to Mecca No It's like..
A huge detour But like.. Huge It's already 100 km to the place he pointed And then I'm not even at Ta'if So no shortcut Oh, it's going to be a very long day again I don't know if I'm going to make it to my planned destination for today because this will take me forever.. to just make this detour Anyway, let's see Where I'll end up today I'm guessing that the.. the mountain pass is closed Maybe there's been like a landslide or something 2 hours later...
Okay, so I am now uh.. Oef. In As Sayl as Saghir Wherever that may be But it's still 280 km yeah, till my planned destination but I'm not going to make it It's 12:40 I'm really hungry. I think I'm going to see if I can eat something here Yeah, that whole detour just took a long time And it wasn't very interesting, it was just a busy highway So the good part of the ride is going to come after Ta'if in the mountains But I think it'll be slow going so I can't make it today It's too far so I'm going to see if I can uh, eat something here And then find a new place or make a new plan I think I'm going to try and stay in Ta'if tonight It is what it is I saw food, I saw food Let's go back This is a massive plate of rice With some lamb inside here All right Very nice, very spicy My mouth is on fire Yay, Frankie got basement parking The little joys in life This probably makes me the most happy And Frankie is somewhere safe inside Woo hoo Here? Okay ... the next morning Okay, the door is open I checked There you go Now while I was here I took the opportunity to do some uh, leftover maintenance That I wanted to do in Jeddah But then where Frankie was parked in Jeddah It was like on a public square And I was like, if I'm going to work on Frankie there It's just going to draw so much attention So but now I had this parking garage so I cleaned the air filter And you can clean that with only taking the seat off But I also wanted to give the airbox a good clean So I took the tank off And then I also drained the carb Just in case there was like any small drop of water or anything in the carb It's good to like do that every now and then You can also then just drain out any dirt that might be in there Oh wow, look at that Mountains are really tall here I'm now approaching 2,000 m The views! Oh amazing, amazing! I'm now at 2,500 And yeah, the mountains are just.. the more south I go, the higher the mountains are getting
But like check out.. these views See those mountains in the distance are even a lot taller than where I am now It's interesting to see the vegetation change as well Obviously, this region receives a lot more water A lot more rain That's why it's so much greener and just different type of trees and shrubs Than I've seen so far in Saudi What letter would that be? Maybe.. a 3, 30 km an hour I have left this last town And look at what is ahead of me Absolutely spectacular I mean I knew Saudi Arabia had mountains but I didn't know that the mountain range here was so vast And that the mountains were so tall to be honest That really came as a surprise Hey and there's also cacti See Cacti growing here Now for Frankie this is not so easy Because I am at like 2,500 On a carburetor that is set and tuned for sea level Just loving all the.. see there's like trees in blossom And then right next to it is cacti Go Frankie These are actually the first trees that I see in blossom Spring is coming Look at this view! Oh amazing Come on Yoi! What a ride! What a ride Most of these corners they've put like this concrete uh.. Barrier so you can't fall off the mountain It's a good idea Look at that Oh! Amazing I have descended all the way down to the valley and look how lush it is here Lush and green Gorgeous Also I'm going to take off my jacket 'Cause surprise, surprise. I'm boiling again I don't think well, at least I can't remember The last country in which I had such rapid temperature changes all the time I had a little bit in Turkey as well Like going in and out of the mountains but..
Saudi Arabia beats it That is better Another kind of castle there What an interesting region right? I was already thinking, what am I smelling? There's a fire there What's on fire? I hope it's just some garbage It smells bad What is this? What is going on? Oh, it's a car! Oh Oh my God Oh my God Is there anybody here? Oh, my goodness What if they're still in the car? What do I do? Oh, there's an ambulance coming Oh no I hope those people got out But I don't think so because I see no one I don't know what I can do To help I don't know I don't know I don't have like a.. fire extinguisher or nothing I just arrived I didn't see anything When I arrived it was already on fire Okay They're going to do something Then I'll go, otherwise I'm just in the way Oh, I really hope that the driver got out but I don't know But then somebody called the.. The emergency services Maybe it was already on fire for a while I don't know where these ambulance and uh.. Emergency guys came from How near that town is Or who called them I'm a little bit shaken How could that car just catch on fire? I mean It looked like, okay it hit the side but Oh man Please let that person Get out in time Uh, it's still so stunning everywhere But I'm a little bit uh.. I don't know I struggled to.. Get this.. this car out of my mind
'Cause I find it so odd that there was nobody standing around when I got there There was absolutely nobody So like, where was the owner of that car? Oh Oh yeah, why not? It is so, so hot Gonna buy water Oh! Thank you That's the glove This is one of these drive-thru ATMs So hysterical I've seen more of them in Saudi Arabia They are so funny One time I almost joined the line I was like, why am I queuing here? And then I realized, oh This is a drive-thru For an ATM Never seen that anywhere before And right in front of me It's up there I can see villages on top of those mountains That's where I'm headed so I'm going to climb probably 2,000 m Pretty unreal I can just all along the edge there I can see buildings Hello Taking the middle of the road Lush, lush Steepy steep! Frankie is having some misfires every now and then, that's normal No.. first gear it is! Come on second gear! Oh, it's so steep Probably can't see that On the footage As you know Look at that, people.. Wow A little bit more! Last hairpin Yep, there's the building I saw all along There it is It's within reach Come on Frankie Frankie is strugging now Yes! Frankie we made it Oh here, see there's a sign, don't feed the monkeys Baboons Woo Yeah, it's definitely a lot chillier up here Wow What an area! Hotel It's a big hotel This is my room Pretty nice but they have smoked in here, I can smell it, ugh Can I open a window So I made it Uh, Frankie struggled a little bit that last bit was really steep and then at this altitude with these jets Um yeah, she's struggling but we made it, we made it And uh yeah, I just really have mixed feelings about the day I mean it was a beautiful ride but I just can't get that image of that burning car out of my mind And you know, when I was riding I came up with like a 100 scenarios in which there wouldn't be anyone in that car anymore But just the thought that maybe there was still a person in that car So I was occupying my mind uh, for the rest of the ride Found a bit hard to um, yeah So I'm going to end this video now, that was it for today Uh, I still hope you liked it If you did please give a big thumbs up, subscribe down below and then I'll see you in the next video
