Al Disah, Saudi Arabia Season 8 - Eps. 43 Good morning Internet, it is 7:30 in the morning and welcome back to the channel Welcome here to Al Disah and before I leave and show you the plan I'm gonna have a breakfast which is basically, my leftovers from last night's dinner 'Cause that was a lot and it was good Look how much rice I still have left over Like this whole thing This is vegetables So I'm going to chuck that in here and then this is salad I ate most of that And then I also have a little bit of bread left over So bon appetit So today I want to reach the Red Sea coast here in Al Wajh and so I'm going to cross through these mountains I'm going to go.. pretty much straight actually, this is not really correct I think I'm now actually a little bit more to the north but anyway This is more of an indication, so yeah Today I want to ride Al Wajh It is a little over 200 km somewhere between 200 and 250 I think And then I am right here at the Red Sea coast so I'm hoping to eat some fish Let's put the air back in my tires Okay, let's go See if I can quickly fill up though Before I really leave See if the petrol station is open I hope so And then I'm going to leave this amazing place Oh, it's so beautiful here This looks very closed Or not? It was a nice place to stay Because Faisal has all these like little outside sitting areas And even in the evening the temperature is just so pleasant So I spent the evening drinking tea with Faisal and trying to communicate with Google translate I really don't like communicating via Google translate because..
Half the time it is a terrible translation or it doesn't make any sense So I find it a little bit risky because what you're trying to say can you know be translated in something completely wrong Or something rude or you know you're not really quite sure what you're saying If you know what I mean So It's not really a foolproof system but this case it was the only way in which we could communicate a little bit So yeah, it was really nice All right, no trucks entry You know that means It's gonna get steep There are extremely strong side winds! I'm blowing off the road! This town is called Badr Here I'm kind of turning towards the coast So I hope.. instead of a side wind I will now get the wind in my back Maybe I can find another place to have a little bit of a tea or something too here The problem is always, I can't read what's on top of the shops I can't read if it says like 'restaurant' or.. So then you kind of have to.. peek inside everywhere At least it's a lot better with the wind I am very near There she is! The Red Sea I have reached the coast Look, here is the beach There some people swimming Nice big playground for kids This is the old town Some of these buildings they have.. renovated
Like this one I think Others are still.. Completely original These are really old houses Old car as well I thought somewhere here there was a hotel but maybe.. Not You know what? Anyway besides eating fish I also um.. found a hotel So I'm going to see if I can stay there Here I think So this is my room for tonight It's again very different from where I stayed last night right? I don't have view on the Red Sea but I do have view on that parking lot Oh no, I do have a view on the see there So I really would like to see the old castle in the old part of town So I decided to go for a walk it's about half an hour walk from here And then I don't have to wear like all my gear and my boots and everything So I'm going to walk here in the park, look at this The temperature difference is really big by the way It is so much warmer here at the coast than it was in the desert like more inlands in the north of Saudi Arabia Ah, so it's not a very big sandy beach But still very nice Let's check the temperature of the water Oh, the water's so nice Yeah, that's definitely swimming temperature Really, really nice These old houses are amazing right? I don't know how well you can see this but the rocks that they used to build these houses These are ancient reefs You can still see the reef structure in them, see here These are all.. old reefs You can even see remains of shells, see there? And here as well you can see Oh and this one you can really see the.. the shell

We have a lot of cats in this place Hey there I can hear another cat Look at this balcony They're called Mashrabiyya Which means lattice balconies See, these are the best ones Where they have just the.. whole wall is exposed You can just.. Look at the coral So this has always been an important fishing town, obviously, being right here at the coast But what I find so amazing is that, you know their profession was fishing But then also the people would build their houses from the old reefs So Can't get that much closer to the ocean right? Anyway, this one I can go inside, let's check it out The floor is sand now So this would have been their view To the neighbors See they also have the traditional roofs here that I've seen in other places in Saudi Arabia as well But then this is the first town that I've seen that has been made up completely from coral Wow! I am just loving this look How amazing this looks like Incredible See there is an upstairs here Second floor How do you get there though? Yeah, I'm not too sure about this one hey But surely they would have had a proper stairway to the second floor right? Not any longer. Maybe from the other side See that's the part that I was looking at You can't really get there any longer This was a big house See, it still has all the original.. wooden cabinets
Ooh these stairs I can take There's a.. so this is already the second floor Oh you could go.. no you could not go up this one See, there's still some.. Carpet left So that stairway is also so not in use any longer I wonder what this was? Maybe..
A basin for water? Maybe? Bath This is another very nice balcony Now I can see a bit closer So this is the Al Wajh castle which was built in 1875 And it was used then as a headquarters for the city But also as one of the forts to protect Tabuk which is a city kind of north from here And in that same time the fort also served as a resting place for pilgrims that were on their way to Mecca Let's see if I can go inside Fascinating old town right? What I don't know though is why so many of these houses are actually abandoned Maybe they changed from building with coral to modern construction ways I actually don't know So yeah that was it for today Maybe it's a bit of a shorter episode But to be honest after all the adventures so far I think I really needed a bit of a calm day Not too far. No difficult riding And just relax and enjoy and wander around a little bit It's just really nice to be here at the Red Sea coast And anyway, the next ride that I'm planning is going to be a big one Probably also not an easy one so I need to be fully strong to take on the next ride So that was it for today I really hope you like this video If you did please give me a big thumbs up.
